A quick and not really remarkable read, not bad, but as my granny would have said, nothing to write home about. The two main chracters are nice, but all or at least most family is disgusting and the one ex is plainly terrible. Thr main subbjet of the story, a children's hospital not exactly joyful material. Hence 3 stars.

Heartwarming!

I loved this book. There is something about new relationships that involve children that can reach into your heart. I love a straight girl crush story and this brought it to a new dimension. Ronnie being a pediatric nurse already had the love inside of her for children even being unsure if she herself wanted them. Her overall personality in dealing with being a nurse, having an overbearing mother and sister and a fiancée who was as unrushed as Ronnie in their wedding plans. Soon we see why. Then you have Amy who has been through a traumatic experience with her son being sick and needing another transplant and already toting a two year old through this all while her ex wife does not want anything to do with their sickly children. This set up made for a great love story and it actually brought tears in my eyes during the rough patches. The climax at the finale of the story was what was needed to make this a great book and an admiration for this writer. I will definitely be checking out her work.

3.5 stars

Ronnie Winters spends her days working shifts as a pediatric nurse, cheering up the many sick children the hospital treats. One day, her job brings her into the orbit of Amy Vascar, the mother of a new patient, and a friendship quickly develops. Ronnie is drawn to Amy by some invisible force, and she thinks Amy might feel it too. There's just one problem: Ronnie is engaged to a man. Will Ronnie give into the attraction she feels, or will she choose to stick to the path laid out for her?

cw: infidelity, bigotry (from side characters), mentions of child deaths and injuries

This was an entertaining story! It wasn't necessarily put together in the optimal way, and I wouldn't call it realistic, but I enjoyed the read.

The Characters: The story is told from Ronnie's third person limited POV, so we get to know her the best. She's well-fleshed out and I liked reading about the issues that she struggled with and then eventually overcame. Both MCs are likable people with distinct personalities. We can see Ronnie as the outgoing jokester who is great with kids, and Amy is a bit more reserved, although she lights up around Ronnie.

The Romance: I really liked their friendship dynamic. It was really cute. The little bits of "she makes my heart beat faster but I'm not into women" that we get from Ronnie are a bit eye-roll-inducing, but the attraction between the two women is believable. There's also some nice angst thrown in at the end. No explicit sex happens, just a fade to black.

The Plot: The book actually focused a lot on Ronnie's daytime job, which was interesting. Like there would be chapters where we mostly followed Ronnie around to visit her patients, and Amy was barely mentioned. This meant we got less exposure to their romance, but I didn't mind that much. There were also large time jumps that happened throughout. The place where the book lost some points for me was in the decisions made by the characters. There were a lot of places where I was like, this is out-of-character or does not make sense, but it's happening to push the plot where the author wants it to go.

The Writing: I really enjoyed the dialogue, and this is one of the few books where I think the text messaging actually worked well. There were some typos that distracted a bit from the story, and the wording wasn't always the best. The writing did not have the best flow, but the engaging quality of the story and the characters kept me interested.

All in all, this was fun to read, even though it wasn't necessarily polished. I would recommend this if you're in between books and looking for something to read.

Finding their way through the baggage

I like the 2 main character's . One a nurse and the other a coffee shop owner. Both women had baggage. One divorced and 2 children The other engaged to a man she will realize she is not in love with. The 2 women are immediately attracted to each other. Amy is a mother of two. Her son is rejecting his kidney and is in the hospital to get a transplant. Ronnie is Amy's son's nurse. Amy's daughter is immediately drawn to Ronnie. Ronnie leaves work one day not feeling well and a situation has her running into Amy's arms. Circumstances become complicated and the women are separate until Amy's son returns to the hospital with his new kidney starting to be rejected by his body. He next thing you know the book jumped 5 years and it's over. I enjoyed the story of the struggle the 2 women were going through but I thought the ending was rushed and left me wanting to know more. I believe there could have been a sequel to this book because of the family dynamics and struggles both women had to deal with separately and together.

I liked the idea of the story, but I don’t think the author did it justice. There are a lot of typos which I found distracting. There is so much detail about the hospital I personally do not think adds anything to the story. Those pages needed to be cut. The relationship between the women needs work too, it didn’t feel authentic for me.

I would love to read a revised version of this with proper edits.

Great book, great story.

Amazon pointed it out that it had revisions made since the last version had lots of typos and missing words, but they were all fixed.

I loved the story of Ronnie and Amy a lot, the way her relationship went from "friends to lovers". A little bit of angst, but nothing too terrible.

I loved Tommy and Morrie, super cute kids.

Overall it's a good book for any ocassion.

Potentially good story

I skimmed through this book as the story plodded along and was so wordy. I wondered what age group it was intended for. Young adults perhaps? A very thorough editing is needed. When this happens we will be able to enjoy more of Blackmore's writing. I wouldn't like to put her off. Just keep on writing RB.

If it’s meant to be, it will be. Just be patient

This was a beautiful love story. I liked how you wrote a very sensual story about these two women with emotions, kisses and the rest to our own imaginations. More times than not, they are as hot if not hotter than word by word descriptions.

Great story. Very relatable. This is a story of a straight woman meeting and being attracted to another woman and the struggle that comes with it. I couldn’t put this book down.

It was a great book but kind of sad that they met when the little boy was in the hospital. It was wonderful that they got back together and had a happy life together.

A nice easy read. The MC's were likeable and if you love a story revolving around children, then this is for you. Some typos and editorial errors but an all around good story.
