Luca is a shark tailed merman from the Northern Silver Isles. All his life, he was trained to guard the royal Muir family. When an incident leaves him too injured to continue in the palace guard, he is devastated. What kind of life can he have without duty? Kristoff is a tentacle tailed merman and the general of the armies in the Kingdom of the Deep. He has very little reason to trust anyone from the other kingdoms in the Silver Isles, but the mating call is luring him to the north. How can he resist meeting who fate intended for him? When the two men meet, they discover they might just be exactly what each other needs.
Author's Note: 12,000 words. This is a mermen, fated mates, omegaverse short story with no angst and no cheating, just a HEA. It is book 2.5 in The Silver Isles series.

I have been self-publishing since October 2018. My books are extremely light and fluffy m/m romance with mpreg, and while they span a few subgenres of romance, they have similar themes of found family and love at first sight. Besides writing, I enjoy reading everything I can get my hands on, especially m/m romance. My personal favorites are mpreg, sci-fi, fantasy, and paranormal.
This was a short sweet novella. As part of the ongoing series I am sure I missed the connecting characters and what not. This is my first time reading anything by this author. It was actually good. A bit too low angst but even in this short I had enough info to see the world the author was building. The thing that really threw me off was all the tech and day to day stuff like cell phones and such being used. I thought that with MCs being sea creatures everything would happen below water. But as an example of this author's work this actually exceeded my expectations. I might actually go and check out their other works. (s*e*x in shifted form, sea shells and tentacles galore guaranteed)
This story also takes place within a series that the author writes, but there is a great recap at the beginning explaining the different kingdoms and areas and what’s going on with each. I have read the first book of the main series but not the second, but wasn’t too lost in this one.
This story is between a shark-tailed merman and an octopus-like merman, and I loved it.
This series is like sugar and spice—filled with warm, fluffy moments and the perfect amount of spicy goodness.

💞 Fated Mates ♎️ Omegaverse 🔮 Curses 👑 Royalty 🥰 Found Family ⚔️ Injured Soldier
✨ Synopsis: An injured soldier from the Northern Silver Isles meets his fated mate, who happens to be a tentacled merman from The Deep. There’s much mistrust between the two kingdoms, but maybe they can forge a union.
✨ Review: So, this can totally be read as a standalone, but I highly recommend you read the whole series because it’s so good, filled with warm, cozy vibes.
All mer from the Silver Isles have different types of tails, from parrotfish to clownfish to jellyfish and seal tails. Luca is a shark-tailed merman and Kristoff has an octopus tail.
While both men are initially resistant to heeding the mating call (because of the upheaval it represents as well as the animosity between the two kingdoms), it’s beautiful to see their walls come down as they let each other in.
Some of my favorite things include: ~Luca’s shark companion, Horus, and their telepathic connection ~Sea Witch Johanna is a great character and I loved her parts in this ~There are some exciting angsty moments (but we get our HEA) ~All the found family bits 🥰🥰🥰
Two men in need of healing answer the mating pull. How hard can that be?
What a stunning addition to the Silver Isles saga. I eagerly awaited this book. Old friends welcomed me back. I went willingly into their embrace. The Sea World is so alive & vibrant, the characters well thought out and intriguing. The story is compelling: fated mates, challenges, self- doubt, curses, ghostly adversaries, and cute kids. Oh. And it's about mermen! What's not to love! This is Kristoff & Luca's story. Severely injured protecting Princess Pearl, Luca is healing while coming to grips with the fact he can never return to the Guard. Eye gone, shoulder messed up... who would want him. But the mating pull gives him hope. Kristoff leads the Sea Witch's armies. Driven to exhaustion, he is ordered to take a vacation. Given the opportunity, he answers the mating call, taking him from the Deep to the Northern Isles. Come. Join Luca & Kristoff on their journey to HEA. On the way, there will be dancing, mating, adorable kids, hard choices, and reconciliation. You are gonna love this book! I wholly recommend reading the first two books in this series. Not only will you gain background, but they are both entertaining & well worth your time. I can't wait to read the next book. This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.
Read this short story if you are already in love with this series.
This is a side story about the supporting character, Luca, from book 2 and is not about Marlow, Seamus, and Kai.
This short story is the first real introduction into the deep. Luca (B), who was seriously injured guarding Kit, Seamus, and Pearl in book 2, struggles to adapt to his permanent injury. While working to recover, he meets his mate, Kristoff (A), who is from the deep. Luca quickly decides to accept the curse and join Kristoff in his kingdom.
This book is rated 3 stars. There were some minor typos and a few other errors. This book is a short story so do not expect anywhere near the depth of the first two books. The story is fast paced and everything is solved instantly. The large differences between this short story and the others in the series is why it is rated 3 stars instead of 4.
Personal Note: I downloaded this book almost as soon as it was released. I did not bother to read anything about it. Thus my surprise when I realized this was not the final book where the last curse is addressed but was, in fact, a short story. While I enjoyed reading about Luca, there was so much insta-love and insta-solutions to every problem I am disappointed when comparing this to the more realistic previous books.
You know that scene from "Despicable Me." Where the little girl sees the unicorn toy and freaks out? XD And she does a little excited dance and says, "It's so fluffy I'm gonna die!"
That sums up how I feel about The Silver Isles books. :D
They're fluffy and just overflowing with cuteness and cuddles. They're sweet. The sorts of happy mushy easy-reading romance stories I need in between darker books.
Seriously, going from a dark murder-filled horror story to a series about happy insta-love romance mers falling in love can be a big change.
And I am totally here for it. :D <3
While not my favorite in the series, (Pretty sure that was book 2. Kit is the best!) this novella was an excellent addition to the series. I loved getting to see The Deep. And Kris & Luca are absolutely adorable together.
I think my only complaint is that the book wasn't available in paperback. I want to be able to put it on my shelf next to the other books. :D
I definitely recommend these books to fans of m/m romance, merpeople, and super fluffy, super happy romance stories.
This is a great addition to the Silver Isles series! I kept guessing on whose gonna be the couple for this one because TENTACLES. Then I was shaking my head for not realizing sooner that it's Luca's and Kristoff's story. Oh, I felt so bad for Luca at the start of the book. We remembered what happened to him at the second book of the series. I kept wondering how he was doing because we didn't get to see him appear at the epilogue. I'm so glad that he bounced back after meeting his mate. And this short made me also wonder about the happenings in the Deep, especially the Leviathan. Glad to know we're gonna see more of it at the third book. I'm now curious and excited to know more about the Deep/Wildebreak Hold. Kristoff was so sweet and adorable, aside from being the general of the Sea Witch. I want to see more of them and Torry. I also want to see some Luca and Torry moments because that boy was so adorable.
Where Is Sheamus ,Marlow, and Kies book ? I have truly enjoyed You're mermen mprog. Back In not so little merman You promised us A triad Between the three kingdom's. I would very much Love To read that book. I hope The series is not finished yet. I truly hope To see it And unlimited soon. I have read mini Of your titles now Because I truly enjoy your writing. Thank you so much For your wonderful worlds to explore. I hope To explore mini more with you. Gods bless you and yours.
I'm enjoying each journey to the Silver Isles more than the last. "A Mate From the Deep" (Book 2.5) is an interesting, low angst continuation of the Silver Isles series, and it provides even more insight into the third kingdom and how the Sea Witch's curse has affected The Deep and its merfolk. The brief glimpses of the great evil lurking in the trench is also the perfect setup to the series conclusion with "The Sea Witch" (Book 3).
I like the series, it has a very simple and light feel to it. The curse and the fighting scenes give it a bit of a dramatic flair and action - but the couples themselves are pretty down with the fated mate plan. This book expands on a very creative and fun to read world-building and the tentacle sexy parts were very enjoyable ^^
The story was good but it was too short and felt rushed. There were a lot of moments between Luca and Kristoff that could have been more fully developed and should have been. Still enjoyable.
I totally enjoy this series. I can't wait for the next book. I need to know what happens next. These characters are wonderful, they make me want to jump in and beat the crap out of that bad guys. Plus they are way sexy.
I was intrigued by the blurb, but I wasn’t sure if I could read about merfolk whose bottom half are octopus, squid, or jellyfish. However, I thoroughly enjoyed this short story and felt the emotion of true fated love.
Great read. I found this story to be fun and full of love. The characters are lively and interesting. I think the back story is great as well as imaginative. I would recommend this to anyone!!!
This was another beautiful story. Thus one for the general of the deep. He has found his match in his mate. Even gives up his life to be with his mate in far reach of the deep. Can't wait to see what happens next
3.5. Very short, nice. . My only problem with the storyline was from the time Luca had arrived in the Deep to time we meet baby Sybil, the portion of the story for getting to know the inhabitants, and his new son and soon to be baby , are just skipped over. Too rushed.
