The writing is down to earth and easy to understand. You gain a clear process for how to approach a tarot reading and the cards, and comprehensive card meanings for both upright and reversed positions. Even though I rarely use reversals, they were still really helpful AND super easy to actually find, because of the pictures of the cards in the book.

Something else I appreciate is that the minor arcana was given the same amount of detail as the major arcana. The minor arcana get can the short end of the wand sometimes, but Mantis does a great job of giving it the whole wand it really wants.

The emphasis put on reading for yourself is great as well. A lot of Tarot books will tell you all about the cards but not break down why it’s beneficial, or even how, to read for the most important client you have…you!

However, where this book REALLY shines light a goddamn diamond is the spreads. Ugh, I was drooling over the almost 40 pages of detailed, insightful, and helpful af spreads.

I have to say, this book truly is an easy, impactful, beautifully written and insightful, door into Tarot and whether you have been reading for years or minutes, it’s honestly a must have on your spiritual bookshelf.

I received a complimentary print copy of this book from the publisher. My review is voluntary and unbiased.

Tarot began several hundred years ago but maintains its relevance to this day. The author explains the history of tarot over time from past, present and future. He then helps to explore the meaning of the cards from Major to Minor Arcana which are the court cards and four suit cards.

There are 22 Major Arcana cards which represent the main cards in the deck. They present the big picture connecting us to our greater personal story. The overview of each card is clear and describes both the upright and reversed meaning as understood through the lenses of contemporary spiritual and mystical views.

The Minor Arcana cards speak more to the intimate details of our lives. They are divided into four suits associated with each of the four elements: fire, water, air and earth. The cards are numbered Ace to Ten which show the pips which are an evolution of the suit’s spirit. Again, the cards are nicely illustrated with concise definitions.

This is a great book for beginners as everything is easy to read and understand with great illustrations. The final chapter reviews some sample practice spreads.

This is a wonderful book for those just beginning their tarot journey. It's filled with spreads for everything you could think of. I liked the explanation of the cards especially the reversals as I know when I first started Tarot it was the reversals that made me concerned and I wasn't always sure what to think. I'd definitely recommend this book to those wanting to learn about Tarot cards and different Tarot spreads.

I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy free of charge. This is my honest and unbiased opinion of it.

Great read! A must if you’re a beginner.

Exactly what I needed! I enjoyed how this book was written. I’ve read some others that give the meanings of the cards but not how to put them together to tell a story.

My deck has kind of just sat here as I’m a beginner and linear definitions and trying to memorize didn’t seem to help much so limited to a 1 and 3 card spread. This book has me excited to spend time with my deck.

In fact I love this book so much after reading it on Kindle Unlimited, I’ve decided it’s a must have on my shelf and ordered a hard copy.

A lighted path thru my forest of self doubt

So grateful to have found this book! It is easy to read and there are ever gentle reminders..that you can do this. Encouraged to be brave. I think I had a fear of insulting the powers that be if I just played with my cards, tested a few layouts. GEESH I am truly enjoying this author as I feel he encourages..courage! This is a true find!

As a beginner tarot reader, I found this book quite helpful! I like that it provides descriptions for different readings and has bolded key words to give a quick overview of the meaning of the card. There are also suggested spreads. I found some of the more complex spreads still too confusing so would have liked more explanation there.

Name says it all

It is fun and easy to follow along. Good for both novice and pro. It's in full colour and gives upright and reversed keywords and then delve into more in-depth meanings. There is a whole section about different cards spread which is really amazing. In short a good book on tarot.

I didn't find much new or different in the presentation of the Major and Minor Arcana, but I really liked the section outlining various spreads - lots of choices, good explanations and insight. A good addition to a beginning reader's collection.

Ongoing reference for sure. This is a really solid book to grab and the read-through helped with my overall sense of the tarot. I love the compassionate, nuanced, and updated take on a very old system.

This was a decent primary for beginners. Pretty bare bones and simplified, but for a system like tarot that's not exactly a bad thing to start with.

3.5 stars. The good: I would recommend this book for a left-brained cerebral person who really enjoys logical words words words to learn a topic. Someone new to tarot who has a Rider-Waite deck and wishes to have an accompanying guidebook. I really appreciate the bold words that allow the reader to scan and recall what they learned.

What didn't I like? I SO appreciate the effort put into the writing of this book. However, there was a lot of head, a lot of logic, and not a lot of heart. Or, at least, it didn't translate into heart for me. There was no cohesiveness to the journey of the tarot, and the backwards sequential organization of the cards (King through Ace) didn't seem sensical to me. If I were new to reading tarot, I don't feel that this guide would help me get to a place where the deck were mine, and where I was tuned in and tapped in to Spirit. Where was the information about accessing intuition, or preparing to read? How about learning how to memorize meanings or actually look at the cards? "Truly Easy" doesn't encompass the hero's journey or the overall arc of tarot, the meanings of suits or numbers.

Again, deep respect for the author and his efforts. This book probably appeals to someone who learns in a different way than I. Thank you, Callisto, for the review copy.
