A demon hunter about to meet her fate. A half-demon ready to make the ultimate sacrifice. And a final battle that’ll determine the fate of the academy forever.
Erin I’ve lost the love of my life. He’s been captured by my father, the king of demons, and taken to the underworld, a place that is out of my reach. There’s only one way to get him back. I have to restore the Soul Bond—the magical connection that binds Rey and I together. The bond I willingly broke. Rescuing Rey won’t be easy. On top of it all, I have to join my sisters to learn the one spell that can destroy King Brikan for good. If I don’t master the curse in time the academy, and all demon hunters, are doomed.
Rey Being imprisoned in the underworld is no walk in the park. Torture and mind games are a daily thing down here. And I have a rotten feeling King Brikan has more planned for me than I’m willing to admit. To make my escape, I’ll have to play dirty. Getting back to Erin is my top priority, so I’ll risk everything to do so. But even if I return to her, there’s no guarantee we’ll be together forever… or if we’ll win this war.
The last installment in Juliana Haygert’s incredible academy series, The Infernal Curse is a story of forbidden love, demon hunters, magic, and paranormal war. Readers will be on the edge of their seat as this amazing urban fantasy draws to a close.
While Juliana Haygert dreams of being Wonder Woman, Buffy, or a blood elf shadow priest, she settles for the less exciting—but equally gratifying—life of a wife, mother, and author. She resides in North Carolina and spends her days writing about kick-ass heroines and the heroes who drive them crazy.

Much has already been lost, but the biggest challenge is still waiting. Erin lost Rey to the Underworld, but she does not give up. Restoring the soul bond? Storming into the Underworld to face her demonic father? Uniting her forces with unlikely allies? You can count her in. As her soulmate, Rey is not left behind in his efforts to right all wrongs and help to stop the evil from spreading, while trying to secure the presence of his loved one by his side, and protecting those who need protection. A very fast paced book with lots of twists, focused on the couple of main characters, sometimes so much the others don't get enough space - but it's Erin and Rey's story, after all. The conclusion is satisfying, though after such an epic battle and nice epilogue I wish to see more of some characters' lives as well. Yet this is up to my imagination probably :) Overall, this was a great series, and I don't regret picking the books up and devoting my scarce free time to reading them.
The Infernal Curse Juliana Haygert The end of a Grand Adventure. It's hard to look at the Blackthorn Academy as another Story you can't wait to get to the end of. It does and has pulled me into the daily life of the Students, and Teachers as if we were there studying, learning, and fighting alongside Erin, Rey and her Sisters and Friends.
Juliana has made the tales so life-like that it actually seems like Magic is a normal thing, and going into the depths of Hell after your Demon/Devil Father is just another step to a peaceful night's sleep. Erin and her Sisters are finally working together to Defeat their Father as only they can. Somehow in the middle of this, Rey escapes from her Father after he snatched him, and after returning and reuniting with Erin, she becomes deathly Ill when she uses Magic. Life and training must go forward along with training while they find the cause, and cure for her Ailments that drain her.
They, along with her Mother, agree to a deadline to face Brikan to push everyone to their limits, but will she be able to help kill him without the use of her Magic? Time is ticking, she's not getting better so how will they finally stop him? You can only find the answers by reading the last installment of the Blackthorn Academy of Demon Hunters.
As for me, I'm getting the whole set in paperback so I can use my Lazyboy Chair on the Snowy and Rainy Days, and hold a real set of books while I drink Hot Chocolate. Thank you, Juliana, for the Journey!
So sad to see this series end, but with Miss Juliana as the author, we are guaranteed to hear more about the Demon Hunters in future "Rite World Universe" stories! "The Inferno Curse" was a thrilling book from start to finish! Another action packed story filled with romance, drama and magic!
You only need to read the first two lines (“A demon hunter about to meet her fate. A half-demon ready to make the ultimate sacrifice.”) in the publisher’s blurb for Juliana Haygert’s The Infernal Curse (Rite World: Blackthorn Hunters Academy Book 5) to understand why it totally grabbed me and pulled me under its spell. For favs of this series it’s time to rejoice. Yes, Erin and Rey start off separated, with minor little issues like a final battle that'll determine the fate of the academy forever, and the need to escape torture by ones dear old kingly demon of a dad, but never fear for you’ll get the ending you and these characters deserve. And wow is it exciting fun getting there. For newcomers, this is a perfectly written series with superbly crafted characters and a fantastic story arc. You can actually (kinda sorta) just read this book, and still thoroughly enjoy it, but I strongly recommend reading the prior truly excellent books in the series (each separately reviewed) starting at book 1 for maximum enjoyment. As for this book, it’s ridiculously easy to highly recommend.
Absolutely loved this series. Erin & Rey battled everything that is thrown at them. Very well written and kept me on the edge of my seat. Recommend to all.
Have to admit, I lost interest halfway into this book. Hating on myself, since I loved the rest of the series. I just felt like it has been going on forever with the same problems. I still love the series, and I still love the book.
Rey is gone, taken, captured and in the possession of the King of the underworld, Erin's father. He is captured but he is determined to escape and go back to Erin.
Erin is lost, so many things have gone wrong, and it is a struggle to keep moving forward. But she wants to get Rey back, and the only way to save him is to restore the soulbond, which they both destroyed willingly.
SO much goes on in this book in such a small amount of time, I felt like this book could have been the entire series. The rest of it was finding out who she is and what she is capable of. This book is where all of the meaning behind those books come to play. They survived the tournament, just, can they survive the war against the king of the underworld. Can Erin best her father?
***I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.*** This is the last book in the series and it did not disappoint! The magic, the danger, the tension everything pulled me in so fast I barely had time to breathe. I loved how the main character kept fighting even when everything felt impossible, and the twists hit me harder than I expected. The romance had that perfect mix of heat and frustration, and the ending left me needing the next book right away. It honestly felt like I was right there, living every moment with them.
I absolutely love this series. Sorry to read Erin's mother had to die to kill the king of the underworld. Very happy how it ended and even more happy I decided to read this series. It was perfect.
I’ve read 11 of her books so far and each of them I haven’t been able to put down! They’re so good and captivating. Highly recommend them! Can’t wait for more books in the Rite world!!
If your looking for YA romantic/supernatural then this series will suit your needs. I really enjoyed the series. I liked how the author tied up the story.
I liked this book the best as it showed the journey that Erin and her classmates had survived. The friendships that endured and their own journey of self discovery.
A great final instalment in this supernatural series! Full of plot twists and turns it was definitely worth the read and the ending did not disappoint!
The book was a great ending to the series. Overall I enjoyed all of the books. It had good characters, a good story line, quick reads, and kept my interest.
This episode moved along quickly tying all the loose ends together. The witch was found, sisters gathered together, prophecy enacted, sacrifices made and world saved.
