With Christmas fast approaching, Marjorie Hardaway has a new Lykoi kitten to shelter. Shadow's owner was found dead and she must keep the expensive kitten safe until the authorities complete their investigations. The problem is her permanent cat Monkey Business doesn't like the new arrival. If she can't rehouse him soon, one of them will have to go, and it won't be the chocolate Persian!

To add to her usual juggling act, Marjorie is also baking for the community centre. They're hosting the annual foster family Christmas party, an event stuffed to the gills with presents, food, and good company.

But when the Christmas gifts generously donated for the foster children are stolen, Marjorie can't stand idly by and let the kids go without. With the entire community already on edge, it'll take a Christmas miracle for them to band together and find the culprits, all while ensuring the annual celebrations go ahead.

Marjorie's Cozy Kitten Cafe Mysteries are quick 1-2 hour reads perfect for filling in time waiting for appointments, commuting to work, or when your significant other insists on watching the show that makes you roll your eyes!

They are chock-a-block full of kittens, but I promise there's no swearing, no cliffhangers, and no graphic scenes.

I'm a middle-aged woman who works in insurance, doesn't have children or pets, can't drive, has lived in Christchurch my entire life, and currently reside a two-minute walk from where I was born.

For some reason, I've developed a rich fantasy life.

I like to write mysteries, some set in my hometown of Christchurch, others ninety minutes up the road in the beautiful township of Hanmer Springs, or in the quasi-fictional town of Pinetar. These mysteries range from hard-hitting psychological thrillers, through to police procedurals, or the lighter adventure of a cozy mystery.

The story takes place during the Christmas holiday season, Marjorie and her friends are helping with the community fundraising for the children's Christmas party. After the toy drive, all the toys were stolen. Who would do such a thing?

There was also the discovery of a kitten at the build site next to Marjorie's Cafe. The kitten was covered in blood! The mystery behind the kitten and the stolen presents, as well as a couple other things, made for an entertaining read.

I'm looking forward to reading the next book soon.

Marjorie Hardaway is busy helping the community center get ready for Christmas. The last thing she expected to find was her former accountant dead. To add to her surprise, he left behind a Lykoi kitten - a very rare and expensive kitten. Marjorie agrees to house the kitten at her kitty cafe until the police find out if anyone wants to claim the cat. Much to Marjorie’s dismay, her own Persian is not happy with the new cat and wants him gone.

When the community center’s Christmas gifts for the foster children go missing, Marjorie takes action. She and her friend, Esme, try to raise money for new gifts.

Things aren’t as peaceful as they should be at this time of year with a thief and a murderer on the loose. Marjorie plans to do what she can to assist the police in finding the culprits.

This is the third book in this adorable series. It oozes with charm. I’ve enjoyed them all. I feel as if I’ve become friends with these characters. I want more! I hope the author continues this series.

These are quick reads with realistic characters. It’s set in a kitty cafe in New Zealand. For a short story, the mystery keeps you guessing and there’s quite a bit going on from the first page to the last. I think these are the perfect books to spend a couple of hours of enjoyment.

The werewolllf cat

It is amazing how people change because of a pet. People you take as hard hearted are marshmallows when pets are concerned.
Sadly, this appears to be the last book in the series.

What a Christmas, a murder, cats fighting, presents go missing and if Marjorie and her friends can’t solve this, there will be a lot of unhappy children.

This is the third book in the Marjorie’s Cozy Cat Mystery series and it is a great mystery made even more complicated because of the holidays. The characters are engaging and interesting. The mysteries are filled with twists and turns, surprises, numerous viable suspects, lots of great clues to sort through and a sense of urgency to have everything wrapped up by Christmas. I enjoyed the character interaction and community spirit. It was a quick and interesting read that pulls at your heart strings. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this series.

Delightful kitten tale.

When an accountant is found dead, Marguerite takes in an "ugly" hairless kitten. She names him Shadow, because he stays at her feet and is very timid. The annual children's Christmas party is fast approaching and all the donated gifts are stolen. After a great deal of effort collecting money to replace them, the gifts are replaced by generous donors, but not before the thief/murderer is caught. Great story with an amusing ending.

So much fun learning about cats and exotic breeds while solving a murder mystery while following the antics of the characters.

This tale is centered around Christmas and gathering gifts to give to children in the poorer families of the community. We get to meet townspeople we don't usually see and in the end it is interesting to see how people from various walks of life come together, but not in ways we expect.

Surprising

This didn't go as expected! Was there a murder? Is the kid a robber? Is it possible to raise funds breakdancing?! The characters may be a bit one- dimensional, but there are a few surprises...and the kittens help.

It’s Christmas-time and a Lykoi kitty is found abandoned at a construction site and all of the gifts for the foster kids have been stolen. Marjorie bakes lots of gingerbread and Santa makes an appearance.

I love this series of short mysteries involving cats. Storyline was great and I didn't suspect the true criminal. I think I have one more to go and hope that Katherine Hayton writes more.

The kittens were cute...

...but the rest of the story was choppy. The parts were just stuck together without any real thought or skill.

An expensive breed of kitten has wound up in the Kitten Cafe for adoption. There are a couple of deaths as well and it appears one of the deceased may have purchased the kitten and both of the deceased may have been murdered.

Another cute installment to the series with lots of kitten facts I didn't know about since I am not really a big fan of kittens/cats.

When one of the workers at the construction site next door to her Kitten Café finds a Lykoi kitten, he gets with Marjorie. The kitten is covered in blood so Marjorie takes the kitten to the vet to learn that the blood isn't the kitten's. Marjorie learns who the kitten's owner is and goes to the house where she finds the man's body. It's soon determined that the man was murdered and the ownership of the kitten is a mystery as well. Marjorie beings the kitten to the café but her permanent kitty, Monkey Business, doesn't like the new addition. Marjorie is also baking for the community center where there's going to be a Christmas celebration for the foster kids. But the town is shocked when someone steals the presents. So Marjorie is drawn into both mysteries.

I love this series and this book is no exception. I was pulled into the book from the beginning and hooked until the end reading it one sitting. Well-written with well-rounded characters this book is a fantastic read. I highly recommend both book and series which I suggest you read in order.

The kitten's day out

A wonderful read that even though it has a death and theft at it's heart is still filled with Christmas cheer. Loved Shadow, who thinks he is a dog and must therefore stay as close as possible to the person looking after him. Whilst Toil and Trouble are looked on as 'bad' cats after they take down the real baddie.
It all started with a kitten found in the new renovations. A kitten covered in blood and lead to the discovery of his owners dead body. Then there is the party being planned at the Community Centre for the children a party that seems to be in danger of being a flop when the donated toys are stolen. What is the link between them? Watch as the kitten's steal people's hearts and how they end up being the heroes of the hour. But will the party go ahead?
