description Whew...this series has been SOOOO good!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Crazy dark, twisted, sexy, violent. I was a tad bit nervous going into this third book. I didn't love the way this author wrapped up her previous duet (The Savage Fall), so it worried me we would be left hanging again. Thankfully, that was not the case here. Everything wasn't tied up with a neat little bow, but I felt satisfied with the way she left things. 👍

description

The writing in all three books has been phenomenal. They were all well paced. The plot was incredibly engaging. Well developed. Brutal. Heartbreaking. 💔 The sex was hot 🔥 (however, there wasn't a lot in this book). There was no OW or OM drama. 🙌 There was a great cast of secondary characters. Both the main characters were intriguing and had depth. I warmed up a lot towards Mischa over the course of the last two books. He ain't ever going to win any hero of the year awards 🏆 but his hard edges softened a little. I loved seeing him interact with the kids. However, Ellen was the real star of this book. It was fantastic to see her come into her own. 🎇 I almost wish there was another book coming so we could see these two working together as a power couple.

So yea, this was a fantastic trilogy and I can't wait to see what this author has up her sleeve for us next! 👀

Rose/Ellen cried and sobbed all the time! She was abused, used... No backbone whatsoever ...
She didn't attempt to recognize that the child was her son, simply to avoid dealing with it…
She was always in a state of confusion, lack of sleep and hunger or having sex with a guy who, 80% of the time, treated her like a whore; it was offensive and insensitive...

2.5 ish stars

This should have been a duology. Also the MMC was an ass even when he should have had the brains to figure out the FMC was abused by her evil ex-family. It should not have taken him 3 books to figure that out and to come to terms with that 🫠 Idk this series kept me reading, but I really wanted the MMC to take a long walk off of a short cliff.

Oop I forgot that I finished this over the weekend, which says something about the final volume of War of Roses.

Not sure what happened but I did start to lose some interest, even though a lot of excellent plot turns. If I had to pinpoint that loss of interest that happened, I would put it down to some of the repetitive moments of the MCs having the same conversation about trust but without that violent danger that spiced up their initially turbulent relationship. The final reveal of secrets was also good. I liked some of the call-backs, but I also didn't get that big OMG WHAT.

Still a good end to this series!

“Hell isn’t a rose. Hell is love. The agony of blind desire. Trust in the face of inevitable destruction. The acceptance of death to protect the breath of another.

I have no words. I started last night and finished at almost midnight. War of Roses got me hooked. I got lost in their world. I couldn't get enough of it, and in the end, so many emotions were running through me― anger, shock, disgust, fear, sadness, you name it.

I have never read anything by Lana Sky before, and this will certainly not be my last!

Amazing!
So much happened that it made me speechless.
The series is still a bit to dark for my liking not enough romance but the action and the the big revelations definitely makes up for it. She has grown so much from Roberts obedient little wife to her own woman. Finding out that her son was actually alive and had been locked away with Half sister was heartbreaking. Robert was a twisted man but I think I would have loved to flush him out a bit more, he was always the darkness lurking in the background. The big danger but we only got to hear about his act we never see him . Even when he got her back we only was with him for a minute or two until the end when he dies.

We got more sweet moments in this book which I really liked. Mouse was very adorable to read about how she brought out a gentler side in Mischa.Rose/ Ellen and Mischa became like parental figures and the baby revolution was brilliant. Making all the bad things they when through worth something.

The ending was very heart gripping with all the death’s and finally getting her mother’s full story out in the open and in to place. Maybe a bit rushed would have loved a scene between Rose and her son where the talked .Well I loved Mischa giving the children his last name and finally giving mouse a real name. It made there family all the more complete.

After i finished this trilogy with I,i can look back and say it was good.
Each part had it’s moments, and the pace never faltered.
In total,it had enough pages to give me what i wanted.
And it left me satisfied with where Ellen and Misha were.
The surprises throughout were brought in a way that you could predict them, but not with an eye roll,if you know what i mean….you were lead there in a good way.
What i díd grow a little tired of,was the trust issue….they both wanted to,but remained reluctant.
Old scars kept them holding back when they shouldn’t….not when they proved trustworthy.
Especially in the company they were in…..
As it stands,i am happy with the way they reached their HEA,and the people they had with them.
For once,i’m happy i took that gamble when XV was free on Apple Books.

This series continued to intrigue me even though I felt unsettled while reading all three books. There were several things I enjoyed like the mind games, action, unexpected twists and mafia undertones. I just felt I needed more connection between the h and H after the emotional warfare. I loved how Ellen finally realized her power and would have like to see that in more scenes.
This was an intense and dark read that pushed my limits in some ways.
It is the end for this couple however a side character has her own series that I will give a try.

Dark contemporary. Triggers. Trilogy. Single pov.

"Hell isn't a rose. Hell is love. The agony of blind desire. Trust in the face of inevitable destruction. The acceptance of death to protect the breath of another. "

When I first started this trilogy I was torn. Ellen seemed so ... lacking? That's not that right word but yet it is. As the story progressed she began to bloom. By the close, she had become, in her own right, a force to be reckoned with. In some ways, I truly believe that Mischa was the catalyst for her self discovery. Without his cruel words and mocking deprecation she never would have questioned her self. Her lack of individuality... her subservient tendencies.

Oh, I know Robert had a lot to do with molding her, trimming her of any sense of self. But in his blind quest to create a slave to worship at his feet he, without intention, became the true catalyst that would eventually call forth the fierce woman she truly was.

This was such a twisted and intense conclusion to this trilogy. This is NOT a standalone there are two books previous. Each new episode uncovered more truths yet also hinted at darker secrets. I watched as Ellen slowly blossomed into a force to be acknowledged. There were times I doubted she would survive intact, physically and mentally. The evils that surrounded her testing her sanity almost encouraging her to hide in the corners of her mind.
Then the cast of unknowns. They said they were friends but to trust them may prove to be even more deadly than the monster that currently held her leash... Mischa.
What was his end game?

I kept thinking we were going in a certain direction with the story only to suddenly find I had been played and pretty hard.
The little things all added up to an explosive conclusion that shook every belief I originally held about most of the cast and events.

The monsters that live within these pages are those that hide in the sunlight, at the dining table next to you, the ones you trust.
The ones you would call friend/family.
As I have come to anticipate Sky writes her characters without apologizes - so heed the warnings ~ If you don't like playing in the dark you will definitely want to stay away from the shadows.

The conclusion to this trilogy is equal parts good and disappointing.

We spent 2 3/4 books, building up to this major ending right? Mischa had a plan, end Robert, get revenge. By the middle of book three, Ellen was half heartedly on board for the sake of her son and the years robbed from them.

Well, the grand finale where it all comes to fruition is insane rushed. I’m talking 10 pages. We do see Robert die, but it’s more in passing. It’s 3 sentences max, he appears out of no where during an ambush, is shot in the face, then never mentioned again. There was no groveling ending to this man that three books spent creating a hatred for. It was just “he’s there, oh he’s dead, carry on everyone”. I’m sorry what? Where is all the chaos you promised in the books prior? Then Sergei is just… dead? Magically there’s no retaliation because they’re on Vanya’s property? It mentioned an all out war from the Mafiya being split… but you don’t see an ounce of that. It just flashes forward a few weeks and everything is just the most peaceful they’ve ever seen? When there was emphasis on how detrimental it would be to create that divide.
This author had a great storyline going, I was loving it. But it seems more like they focused on the build up for so long that they ended up having to slap an ending together to get it published in a timely fashion. The build up did not match the conclusion by any means. That is what made this series fall so flat. Even with the development in the characters… it was proven that such an ending still wasn’t in the cards for a couple of their dynamic? The ending we were implied the characters would get was one of revenge, redemption and finally a HEA. Not a half cocked checklist of “cool. Everything I hinted towards happened in the last chapter so it can end.”

I’m only rating this one 3 stars because Mischa’s & Ellen’s character development literally saved this book. You get to see him give Ellen a softer side, he begins to trust. And Ellen? Ellen finally becomes the woman to not lay down and take it. The growth they shared as people was what kept me going.

I-The most lonely of the numbers!!

one also A-1 (ā′wŭn′)
adj. Informal

First-class; excellent, this is my thoughts about this amazing series! Lana Sky created a very dark, violent, inhumane world, full of Mafiya and death
It's there where we meet Misha and Ellen (Little Rose) and where we say goodbye to them, and their family in this last book.
Finally, secrets are revealed and true wins. This couple evoluted with the storyline, the fearsome, lonePahkan learned how to love and our sweet little rose learned how to fight, stand-up for herself.
Lana Sky gives us the perfect imperfect ending for them. Sometimes we just need to accept what we have!!
But can we say that was the ending????
A all new generation it's emerging for fighting and making fear the Stepanov name!!
Personally I want to read about this kid's in a near future, please Lana!!

I watched everything slowly come together.

I was dying to dive back into this story.

It was crazy but somewhere along the way, I realized that Ellen is always freaking injured. That poor girl can't catch a break she doesn't even have any time to heal before she gets messed up by someone again.

I was a little worried at some times however I had faith in Mischa, Ellen, and Lana. I knew in my bones things would work out. The plot twists there were a few only 1 of them actually shocked me.

I really can't wait to read more Lana Sky.

These books was so beautiful and amazing like the rest 2! Basically tbh, I was so so excited to start it and I am glad I did!!
Although 2 things that hurt me the most are, first : we never ever got a chapter from Mishca’s POV, second : we needed more of Mishca and Ellen (Rose).
I needed them to marry and see Rose give birth to Mishca jr.
Ahhhhhh!! These series messed with my brain but then too I love it!!! The amount to twists and turns it had, but it was pure Chefs kiss 👩‍🍳💋!!
I loved this trilogy by Lana Sky and I am excited to try out her other books. ❤️

I have to say, out of the three books in this series, this one has edged out to be my favourite. It was more than I could have possibly hoped for. Secrets are revealed and true motivations are shown. I think Ellen comes into her own in this book. She goes from being a sheep sent to slaughter to a wolf willing to take anyone down who gets in her way. And it’s Mischa who helps her see her potential. I love their relationship because so much of it is unspoken. They have learned to communicate with each other through touch and looks. This is especially useful for Mischa who can’t always express what he is feeling. There are some surprise arrivals and that rocks the boat. I wondered how this would impact on Mischa and Ellen. Enemies are lurking and both of them need to keep their guard.

description

I’m going to miss this series. Mischa and Ellen are incredible characters. After so much uncertainty and suspicion, I think the both of them learn whom they can trust. And it’s each other. There was always that underlying feeling that one of them was manipulating the other but after living life always on guard, it’s not surprising that they felt this way. The reason why they are so suspicious I think had more to do with their feelings for one another. They have never felt anything like what they feel for each other and that scares them both. The only way they know how to process this is to be wary and guarded. Lana Sky has crafted a unique and darkly fascinating series that seeps into your skin and doesn’t let go. It was an absolute delight to read.

Note: An ARC was provided in exchange for an honest review.

First thing: Clearly I should have avoided this book when it said it was no good for under 18s since it involved gore, mature scenes, and what not.

But you know as an ARC reader, you have to read the novel since you have to review it honestly and promote it too, so there’s no going back.

Second fact: There is no indication or flashbacks to the previous book. So for me, be it as an ARC reader or a normal reader who’s never read the previous books, this creates problems to understanding the plot and the overall story set out for all books in series.

So the first fault was mine but the second, no one explained it. The plot seemed interesting enough with me getting through two pages of chapter 1 and preface.

That was it, especially after the ring finger scenario. Damn, was that horrible to read.

I don’t get why authors can’t just have like a mafia scene or feeling to the plot without going too much into gore, or extreme disfigurement of the character or their surrounding specifically? Kinda threw me off and put me off the book entirely.

So yeah, DNFing this book. Not a recommend.

Until the next page,

What a conclusion to the series! My gosh, I cannot rave enough about Lana Sky's books, but she really outdid herself with the War of the Roses series! Hopefully if you have stumbled on this review you have already read the first 2 books in the series, if not, rewind and go to XV and check it out right now!

Ellen (Rose) is growing into her own now and watching it is like watching a rose bloom. Mischa is not an easy man to know, but is that a bad thing? Heck no it isn't! The thing about a brute is that he might be hard and demanding, but his emotions runs even further. This guy is freaking amazing y'all.

If you have enjoyed the other books up to this point, I can 100% say that you will enjoy where this books lead you. If you haven't enjoyed them, then you are just weird. ;)

All in all, if you enjoy romance on the darker, seedier side, this is so freaking your jam and I loved every second of delving into this world!

PS: I received this book as an ARC but am honestly reviewing it!

What an amazing story couldn't ask for anything more it was so addictive I couldn't put it down, we get it all dark, twisted filled with lies and what to believe and who with a whole lot of deceit that takes you on an intensity of emotion as Mischa and Ellen become entangled on so many different levels as confused feeling arise these two are so intense you never know whats coming next as they challenge each other at every single thing and it makes them stronger and I loved their private discussions and banter and most loved Mischa with Mouse it melted my heart at the interaction of her training. The writing is superb and so perfect and detailed you get lost in Mischas world and you don't want to leave.

All I can say is WOW!!! This lady can write. This is my first time reading anything by Lana Sky and let me tell ya....it will NOT be my last. These books were so dark and delicious and NEVER lost their steam from book 1 until book 3. My only complaint was the ending. It was kind of rushed and did not have enough closer to say "The End". They never confused if they loved each other, we never figured out if she raised Eli or Anna, what happened with Anna, did Ellen "Rose" get her voice back and so on. But this was not enough to make me take away a star! That's just how darn good this series was. So if you read, enjoy, but you will feel a little lost at the end with all the open ends.

Poor Ellen! She is floundering in the sea of the mafiya still and still trying to figure her role in these dominant men who each would like to use her for bartering.
Mischa is remaining true to his role with his Little Rose, as captor and tormentor. And now there is Mouse and little Eli! What connects them all together?
Lana Sky you write stories that grip the reader and throw them into a story of make believe but suddenly it seems very real with the words and descriptions you use to paint the story!

I didn’t even bother to finish this one ☝️ . I lost interest the moment her son came and Mischa told her that it’s her son. What a normal mother would do ? Hug or kiss their child 👦 right ??? But she didn’t do any of that . She didn’t even hold him . Years of separation from her baby and she did nothing when she saw him. 🤯 . Not after few days later as well . She’s a pathetic mother . Anna is far much better mother than her. And we still don’t know why she married her husband 🙅‍♀️.I will definitely give author’s other book a try ✌️

I don't remember much about this book because I ended up skimming a lot of it. It felt really dragged out, and honestly the whole thing could be condensed to two books max. Book 2 was probably the better of the three, but I don't know if this sucked more, less or just as much as the first book. This is honestly the end of my Lana Sky adventure because I cannot tolerate reading another wasted potential.

Our Little Rose 🌹finally got her well deserved HEA
I highly recommend this series. The story was very well written. I have to admit the first book was hard to read without you wanting to revenge of our poor Rose and how she was treated. All three books were packed with action and steamy romance. The series was definitely an attention grabber from beginning to end.

This post includes my reviews for the kindle version and the audiobook of “I: One (War on Roses #3)” by Lana Sky.

[I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book]

Lana Sky’s War of Roses Trilogy Series tells the story of Ellen Winthorp and Mischa Stepanov. Ellen is mistaken for her beautiful step-sister and is taken captive by a man who claims that she will be his fifteenth victim of a vicious mafia blood feud. Ellen must resist her captor and do whatever it takes to survive however this isn’t easy as her captor is a complex man shielded within this beast of a mask. The more time these two spend together, the more secrets are uncovered and this in turn may destroy them both.

Kindle Review:
Rating 5/5
Plot 5/5
Spice 3/5
Writing 5/5
Character Development 5/5

Without spoiling too much from the first and second books in the series, "I: One" continues the story of Ellen Winthorp and Mischa Stepanov one last time. Ellen continues to learn about the dark world of crime and danger through Mischa and as secrets were uncovered in books 1 and 2, Ellen and Mischa are forced to trust each other or else the violence will consume them once and for all.

This series is so unique and raw and gritty and I loved it! If you’re interested in a dark romance filled with mystery, suspense, and twisted themes, this one is for you! Beware this series is dark and twisted. Check content warnings before diving in!

Audiobook Review:

The audiobook was amazing! The audiobook that I listened to was the "Complete War of Roses Trilogy XV, VII, and I Trilogy" and included all three stories in the audio. I loved being able to listen to the entire story through audible because it was so organized and cohesive. The series is dark and gritty and raw and being able to hear it through audio felt so real!
