Sleeping with the father of the bride—a former NFL player and one of Hollywood’s most eligible bachelors—was not part of the plan.

It was only supposed to be one night.

One night to forget.

But he made me feel wanted.
Reckless.
Alive.

I’d been down this road before, and it only ended in disaster.

Was I willing to risk my heart again?

Unpredictable is the 4th story in the Love in LA series. It follows Juliana and Harrison in a delicious age gap romance between an event planner and the silver fox father of the bride.

Juliana has been trying to deal with the aftermath of an unimaginable and tragic accident that left her without a fiance. She is such a strong, independent, incredible young woman who is career focused while also being conflicted and guarded about giving love another chance. How does one even begin to move on when they never truly got any closure or answers to what happened.

Harrison is an ex football player and perpetual bachelor coming to terms with his only daughter getting married. He is closed off to love and relationships having been burnt badly in the past. Even though he starts off not being open to the idea of long term love he is somehow still the perfect man. He is sweet, kind, caring, selfless, swoon worthy, patient, dependable and wants only the best for his daughter.

Juliana & Harrison had an instant connection and intense chemistry after a heated and passionate night together both thinking that it would only be one night. Little did they know that life had other plans and Juliana finds herself planning Harrison's daughter upcoming wedding. Which leads to more fun, flirtation, sexy moments as well as coming to terms with some more emotional and heart wrenching ones.

This entire series has been such a perfect blend or fun & emotional and I have enjoyed every book so far and can't wait to see what Jenna comes up with next.

Ok, but a wedding planner + father of the bride romance is a niche trope I didn't know I needed to explore 🔥🔥👌

3.5 stars rounded up

Damn, this was good. Juliana's and Harrison's story had me smiling, laughing and even tearing up a little bit -it was hot, full of feels and different in a good way. How so?

Well...here's what you need to know about what this story hooked me with:

❤ age-gap romance featuring wedding planner and father of the bride

❤ one-night stand + accidental/"fateful" meeting later on (I LIVE for this shit)

❤ heroine realistically moving on and grieving her loved one

❤ for once a heroine who doesn't want to have kids (and doesn't change her mind and end up pregnant in the epilogue anyway!)

❤ there's some 3rd act drama naturally but it's written rather well imo - it's not miscommunication based but rather two adults facing something difficult in their relationship and once initial shock wears off, Harrison is really supportive and doesn't act with some stupid pride etc....I don't know, I just liked it *shrugs*

Onto the next one!

The Fear of the Unresolved: A LOVELY ROMANCE

What’s this book about? (I'm trying to give as little spoilers as possible)
Juliana sleeps with Harrison, the father of the bride whose wedding she’s organizing. He’s a former NFL player and just the right type of medicine to help her forget. Instead of numbing her out, he makes her feel once again. She’s been hurt. She’s lived through tragedy. Now she’s got a decision to make.

unpredictbale

Unpredictable is book three in the Love in LA series by Jenna Hartley! I’ve read all the previous stories and I identify them by their cheerful and charming mood. Once again, we find ourselves in sunny LA and the occasion is quite happy. BUT our lead Juliana has some major issues that she’s working through. The beginning chapter had me hooked. I felt so much for her! The ordeals she went through… She’s a strong woman. That’s for sure.
Then we have Harrison. He’s a daddy. No, really. He’s the father of the bride. He wants what’s best for his little girl (soon to be bride LOL). He’s just the right guy for our girl Juliana after everything she’s been through. I had an issue with something he said in the final quarter when there was this big decision to be made by our lead girl. Other than that, he was swoon-worthy, handsome and alluring.
This was a fast-paced read with lots of feels. I love the Love in LA universe and I always look to it when I need something heart-warming and joyful (make no mistake, there’s drama LOL but it’s not overdramatic).
I recommend this to all the Love In LA fans, age gap lovers and admirers of strong heroines who overcome their tribulations.

"I don't want to be someone you use to run away. I want to be the man you run to."
Unpredictable was both parts a story of grief and the toll it can take on someone, especially when that grief has no closure, and also a super steamy romance.
In this story, we are following 37 year old Juliana. She is a party planner/wedding planner extraordinaire. She is overwhelmed with grief over a traumatic accident that happened two years ago.
And we also are following 51 year old Harrison. He is a retired football player who now does commentary on the sport, and now his daughter is getting married.
The two end up spending a scorching one night together. Neither knows the other's name, well that is until one morning when Harrison and his daughter Olivia show up in Juliana's office for a wedding consultation. What ensues is a lot of denied feelings, pretty hot chemistry, and in the end these two come to realize that their kind of love is worth the jump into the unknown.
Unpredictable is sweet, cute, funny, sad, and did I mention hot? I loved that once they made it official between the two of them, there was obvious displays of trust. There were no miscommunications that caused them to break up and then get back together. They mostly talked to each other with respect and it's always refreshing to see that.

Read if you enjoy:
-Age gaps
-silver foxes
-forbidden (wedding planner/father of the bride)

This was my first Jenna Hartley read, and I wouldn't hesitate to pick her other books up in the future.
Overall rating 4 stars
Steaminess 3 stars
Content Warning- while this may not be a big deal to some, I feel like I have to mention that there are scenes where Juliana is talking about traumatic events and there are themes of grief.

This is my first read of Jenna’s and I’m a sucker for age gap’s so I just had to read this. What I loved about this book was that yes, it was an age gap, but it was never made an issue. It was about two people finding love again and learning to live in the present and was refreshing to read with the heroine being older (37) and not in her twenties or just turned 18 which is most typical for this particular genre.

Harrison (51) and his daughter, Olivia, turn up at Juliana’s event planning business so that she can help plan Olivia’s wedding. Harrison and Juliana are stunned to come face to face, especially as they shared a one-night stand with each other a few days previous. The two are then forced together when Harrison is left to plan his daughter’s wedding. During this time emotions heighten and their one time only agreement doesn’t last long!

Harrison (sigh) I love him! Move over all the silver foxes you know, he’s certainly going to the top of my list! As well as being older and all kinds of hot, I fell in love with his heart and his character. He’s kind, thoughtful, encouraging and made my ovaries explode with how much he loved his daughter, he was just perfect with a little bit alpha thrown in there.

Juliana, my heart went to her. She has suffered such loss but has been stuck, unable to move forward struggling with her grief. I could totally understand how she felt, not getting closure and admired her strength to finally move on and take the next steps and ‘let go’.

This is book 4 in the series and the only one I have read, it can definitely be read as a stand-alone but after devouring this read I will be making sure to check out the other books.

This was such a great book and wasn’t anything like I was expecting. It was beautifully written, low on the angst but hit with its emotional feels. A must-read!

I simply ADORED this book!
He’s a retired NFL player, single dad and she’s the wedding planner, that’s planning his daughter’s wedding! But the catch is that these two already met after a steamy one night stand!
SCREAMING!

Juliana is incredible, after her and her fiancé Ryan were caught up in a tsunami, and her fiancé unfortunately going missing, she has battled the last two years with trying to love again and live her life without the thoughts of Ryan tainting everything.
Harrison is similar in the sense that his ex wife cheated on him leaving him with negative feelings towards loving again. He is literally the sweetest man ever, once his sights were on Juliana he was all in and I freaking loved it!
These two were so sweet together and truly bought out the best in one another. The way they taught each other to really live and love again made my heart melt

Jenna’s writing just hits the spot for me and I can’t wait to read more!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ “How could I move forward with Harrison—or any other man—when I still didn’t know what had happened to Ryan?”
.
If you enjoy:
✔️Age Gap Romance
✔️Chemistry
✔️Single Dad
✔️Second Chances
✔️Dual POV
Then this may be the book for you!
.
If you’ve been following me then you know that Age Gaps are not typically my thing. No judgement ever to those that enjoy them. But for me to enjoy them they both have to be older. And this book delivers on that perfectly for me!
.
It was suppose to be one night. Sleeping with the brides father was not part of the plan. But Harrison made Juliana feel wanted. Alive. Something she hadn’t felt in a long time. Because taking a risk in the past, only ended up in disaster.
.
I enjoyed this story of instant chemistry and moving on. Julianna is a strong, successful businesswoman, but vulnerable. Still dealing with a heartbreaking past. Harrison is mature. And honestly that alone is just sexy and refreshing. Not wanting a relationship though. But their chemistry is the spark they both need to move forward. They really seem to bring out the best in each other. And it was enjoyable to read.
.
There’s a good mixture of feels and steam in this one. I did feel like the timeline jumped around a bit and Harrison was a bit over the top protective about his daughter. Also that ending with Ryan? I need more! But if your looking for a lighter romance with some sexy steam, and a slight forbidden feel this one is perfect for you!
.
Thank you to the author for this eARC for my honest review.✨

I never had a wedding planner, but Juliana made me wish she was my wedding planner.⁣

Unpredictable is the next book in the Love in LA series. If you haven’t read Perspective, Unexpected, or Irresistible yet, you certainly should. @authorjennahartley writes some of the steamiest scenes that just make you swoon. ⁣

Julianna is an event/wedding planner who lost her fiancé two years ago, she’s drowning in grief and trying to stay afloat by burying herself in work, until she meets Harrison. Harrison is a retired professional football player, 14 years her senior, highly against marriage; but sparks fly for these two, and you are rooting for them the entire time.⁣

I also love that we get to see how Kate, Alexis, and Lauren are doing as we follow Julianna and Harrison through their journey to help each other move on from their pasts and forward with each other. Also, how gorgeous is this cover. ⁣

Thank you for the ARC for my honest review. You should pick this book up on 7/1/20 when it’s released! ⁣

I have been waiting for Juliana’s story since the beginning and Unpredictable quickly became my favorite book to date in this series.

Juliana has experienced a tragic loss, a loss that she is still trying to grieve, but despite everything she still manages to work hard and give everyone else the happily ever after they dream about. She is a character you can’t help but love. She is strong, smart, talent, beautiful, a fighter and overall, just pretty awesome.

Harrison. Where can I find him!? Seriously, the man is amazing. The love he has for his daughter is amazing. I couldn’t get enough of their relationship. He has been hurt in the past when it comes to relationships, however, there is something about Juliana that draws him in. I don’t think there are enough words to describe Harrison. He’s a dream. I loved how supportive he was of Juliana, even if it meant he could be hurt in the end.

The chemistry was melting off the pages. From the moment Juliana and Harrison met the sparks were flying. I loved every single moment of their relationship together from the good, the bad, the ugly, the happy and the sad. I couldn’t get enough of these two and I truly didn’t want their story to end.

Unpredictable was an emotional journey about these two broken souls who found each other and were able to heal each other after loss. This one is a MUST READ!

P.S. I can’t wait for Harper’s story. Plus, Olivia and Connor’s!

Unpredictable is an incredible story. Harrison and Juliana are precious together and are by far my favorite couple of the series. Their story is filled with heartwarming and edge of your seat moments. Jenna Hartley definitely pulled on my heartstrings with this story. I had a hard time putting this book down, I enjoyed it so much! I also love that this second chance story involves both an older female (then the typical 20 something year olds) and a silver fox.

Juliana is a strong and independent female lead. She is a very successful and wanted party planner. After tragic incident Juliana has been having a hard time moving on. She meets Harrison at a wedding conference and is instantly attracted to him. Harrison, is a heartthrob with not only his looks, but his words and actions as well. He has no intentions of starting a relationship, especially after experiencing his previous marriage, but he can't help himself from falling more and more for Juliana. He never expected to find someone he could love as much as he does with Juliana.

In this story, Juliana learns that in order to move on she needs closure. She has been holding on to a life and dream that will no longer exist. With the help of Harrison she realized that life is too short to live in the past and that she needs to focus on the present. These two bring out the best in one another and I absolutely love them together.

I really, really enjoyed this book. I started reading Unexpected a while back and just... couldn't get into it. But this book popped up on my feed yesterday and the blurb had me so excited that I just had to snag it. And I devoured it in a matter of hours. Juliana and Harrison were both such intriguing characters (Juliana more so than Harrison, imo, given the events in her past) and together, they were combustible. They had so. much. good. sexual. tension. There was one scene where Juliana was tying Harrison's tie and I had to put my phone down for a hot second to fan myself. This was a low angst, super sexy read, and I've been converted to a Jenna Hartley fan. Her writing is captivating and I'm more than ready to dive into the rest of this series!

this was a very sweet romance that had an age gap but that wasn’t the main point of the story. (also why isn’t there a silver fox on the cover? he looks way too young to be 51!) this dealt with the grief of losing a fiancé as well as insecurities from a cheating spouse. I really loved how supportive harrison was and juliana was a woman to be admired. my only complaint - I felt like things were happening behind the scenes too much. suddenly there’s a two month time jump and then a reference to juliana’s thyroid medication that I didn’t know she needed. overall this was a great addition to this series and I can’t wait to read more from this author!

Unpredictable is a breath of fresh air- a charming, low drama love story about two people who find their soulmate when they least expect it.. This book is like a big chunk of yummy cotton candy, voluminous and filling, yet light and fluffy, sweet and tasty, and it goes down easy.

After reading the beginning, you might be worried this book might be a bit more tragic and dramatic than it actually is- as we quickly discover our heroine, Juliana, is mourning the (likely) death of her missing fiance. We immediately sense her sadness, the hollow impact of grief- and that she’s working herself too hard as a way to avoid confronting her own unhappiness. Shortly after, we encounter Harrison- the former NLF player and color commentator who learns his daughter is engaged, and his reaction is less than ideal. An unpredictable moment in time brings Harrison and Juliana together in a steamy one-night stand but sweet, and while they both feel there is something there, Juliana is struggling that this is her first sexual encounter since losing her fiance, and Harrison isn’t interested in pursuing something when Juliana is hung-up on the mysterious Ryan. Again, unpredictable life intervenes- their paths cross professionally as Juliana is hired to plan Harrison’s daughter’s wedding, who coyly throws them together to do much of the work. And, after spending some time together, they decide to explore this relationship. Her connection with Harrison not only pushes Julia to confront her own unhappiness, to reawaken her desire to truly live, but it also inspires her to start to do some of the hard grief work of moving on- and the decisions she’ll need to make to truly do that. And, for Harrison, he learns to embrace love again.

For a book that has some mainstream tropes, Jenna really avoids actually playing into them- and I found this so refreshing and authentic. While the baggage of our character is acknowledged, the focus isn’t on grief, or guilt, or the taboo of the age gap at all. We have an age gap relationship that despite a few casual mentions of their age difference isn’t actually taboo or an issue to anyone. We have a mourning character/second chance story that really doesn’t focus much on the past relationship and the “moving” on aspect is acknowledged but not overly agonizing. We have a secret/forbidden spin as our couple hides their relationship from others, his daughter in particular- yet this doesn’t backfire. We have two characters burned by love, unopened to relationships, yet they quickly let this go as their relationships blossoms. Even at the end when I feared this was gonna go hard drama, it didn’t. The tropes are reduced to mere circumstance, plot contrivances aren’t needed- because Jenna just lets this charming relationship shine.

The drama is pretty low all around- we have a few heated moments, but for the most part, the love story develops as a leisurely place without a lot of heavy obstacles or emotional roadblocks. I haven’t read the other books, so I found some of the friend chapters to be less interesting and to slow down the book a bit for me- but only because I don’t know those characters or their story (you don’t need to)- but I did find Juliana’s friendships to be great. Kudos for showing empowering and supportive female friendships! And Harrison’s relationship with his daughter made me fall even more in love with him- and was the best way to develop his characters.

But the star relationship, of course, is Harrison and Juliana. I loved Juliana- her vulnerability, strength, willingness to confront her feelings. And Harrison is almost too good to be true- in fact, there were times I felt like we weren’t getting as much depth from him as Juliana, not exploring his emotional psyche as much. That’s okay- I still adored him- he’s kind, supportive, open. The chemistry here is just so refreshingly sweet and mature - yes, there is fire- but there is more so sensitivity, communication, authentic connection, tender care. The relationship is just so damn healthy and supportive- so charming and sweet.

I truly enjoyed nomming on this sweet as candy story, my first Jenna Hartley read but certainly won't be my last. Sometimes you just need a romance that is smooth, sweet, joyful even. Jenna delivers on all those fronts.

Juliana has never had this problem before, being attracted to the father of one of her clients. The man with whom she had a seriously hot one night stand...

But it's not just that he's a client that stands in their way, it's that she's still tied to a past tragedy in ways that she may never get over. Harrison is doing his best, though, to get her past those things, to get her to open up to him and let him love her the way he wants to.

This one is a bit of a heart breaker. Juliana's backstory is pretty sad and I really felt for her as she tried to navigate falling in love while still feeling tied to her past. But really the best part of Unpredictable is Harrison. He is one swoony man - so sweet, big-hearted and head over heels with Juliana. Though there was an age gap between the two, he didn't act like a domineering ass, controlling and undermining Juliana. No, he supported her 200% and being there for her no matter what. Dang, I want my own Harrison!

This book started out pretty well.
Juliana is a successful event coordinator, but her private life is filled with angst: her fiance disappeared during a tsunami in Thailand 2 years prior. She and her friends are still looking for any sign of Ryan, but this limbo is taking its toll on Juliana. She's suffering from insomnia, with horrid nightmares when she does sleep, she's incapable of letting go, and generally grieving. At 37, her life is on hold.
Harrison is an ex-NFL player, quite famous even years after quitting. He's popular with the ladies, but only because he's been so badly burned by his ex-wife, he's even lost his faith in marriage. Harrison must be in his late forties, early fifties (I don't think his exact age is mentioned, but his daughter is 27.)
Juliana and Harrison meet at a hotel bar (he was there looking for her actually, to see if she'd plan his daughter's wedding), but they don't get to the name exchanging part of the conversation before hopping into bed together. They spend a hot night, but they part ways without exchanging contact information.
The universe has other plans for them, though, because Harrison's daughter does get an opening with Juliana's firm and the 2 MCs have the chance to meet again. Their attraction is just as strong as before, but they have some issues to overcome before being together: Harrison has to get over the scars left by his ex, Juliana has to decide to let go of Ryan and move on.

I finished “Unpredictable” by @authorjennahartley last week. This is book 4 in the “Love in LA” series.

Juliana and Harrison were everything. It’s like they were made for one another. You can’t put this book down once you start. Cover to cover it’s packed with love, romance, and steam(but not to much).

When it was over I wanted more. I know we are not supposed to pick favorites but this is mine from the series. It’s just a great, well written love story without all the drama. Just love, living your life to the fullest and being happy. LOVED IT.

Harrison was so mature and understanding. How well these two communicated was so refreshing. He was 100% there for Juliana, like you expect a man to be, and he didn’t ask for anything in return. He was so SUPPORTIVE, UNDERSTANDING AND HOT AF!

Cameos from my favorites from the previous books and an exciting announcement for one of the ladies from earlier in the series, made this even more special.

Like I said I wanted more, like I need more is these two! Maybe @authorjennahartley will write a short story one day for them. I definitely need more Harrison.

“You are my breath, my heart, my reason for living. I promise to never take you for granted. I promise to do my utmost to uphold the vows we’ve recited. And I promise that even though life may be unpredictable, you can always count on my love. I will love you without end, without cease, without fail.”

This is easily, and hands down, my favorite book in the series so far... Which is funny considering I am not really a fan of the "dead-ex" trope.. but Juliana and Harrison were so great they just captured my heart!

Harrison is a strong, compassionate and loving man. His life has always revolve around his daughter after an ugly divorce. He was kind of jaded about relationships and marriage. Because of that he never thought he would ever find a woman to fall in love with and spend the rest of his life with, let alone get married again, since he has been on his own raising his daughter for 20 years. So his growing feelings for Juliana from the moment they met was unpredictable. It was only supposed to be a one-night stand, but when they meet again he's willing to try again and maybe make her his

Juliana is a strong woman, working on growing her event management company. However, no one really know she had nightmares still from what happened to her missing fiancé 2 years ago. She hadn’t had any closures, or accepted that Ryan’s not coming back. When she met Harrison, she learn how to let go of things and just be. Harrison make her want to be happy, to be free and feel alive again. She never thought she would find love again until Harrison come into her life while planning his daughter’s wedding.

I love how he put in the effort to not let his and Juliana’s relationship fail. He would show up for her and assure her he’s always there for her, with her. He was really selfless and understanding when it come to her, he let her have the closure she needs and chase for her own peace regarding Ryan even though it broke her heart doing so.

This was one hell of an unpredictable love story. Who would have thought that a girl still pining for a man after two years, who didn't know how to move on from him go on, move on and find another love?

Julianna had a striving business that occupied all her time and she made sure to keep herself busy so she wouldn't go out of her mind thinking of Ryan and the what could have beens. But one night she lets loose and has a one night stand with a man, they didn't exchange names or numbers, it was strictly supposed to be a one night.

Harrison has no time for love and he's focusing on his one and only daughter getting married. He is a retired NFL player, who is also very successful and charismatic. When he and Julianna spend a night together he realizes that he can't get her out of his head.

When a chance encounter brings them back together, they realize how much chemistry they have and how well they click together. Can they both let go and just give to how they feel for each other? Is Julianna ready to leave her past and move forward?

Even though this is an age gap story it didn't feel like it. Julianna was so very mature and well educated as was Harrison. They definitely made a great couple.

I loved this book, the story and everything it revolved around. I definitely would recommend this book.

Due to her tragic past Juliana has given up on a happy ever after for herself but when it comes to helping other people plan their special days, she has created quite a reputation for herself. She is struggling to move forward with her life when she is still mired in the memories of her past so when she meets a sexy older man at the bar all she wants is one night to forget.

Harrison hasn’t believed in love or marriage for a while but the love he has for his daughter Olivia can not be questioned. He may not be happy that she is getting married, but he wants her to be happy and that means hiring the one event planner who can make all of her dreams come true. What he wasn’t expecting was that the woman he spent the night with is the wedding planner he wants to hire and what was supposed to be one night may not be enough for either one of them.

This is an emotional story about love, healing and second chances. Harrison is the perfect mix of sweet and sexy and the perfect man to give Juliana the happiness she deserves.

Unpredictable is my first Jenna Hartley novel and I enjoyed it. This story included age-gap, single dad and second chances tropes into an emotional tale that held my interest until the end.

It's a story about two people who are both in different ways haunted by their past, find each other when they least expect it.

I loved that Harrison and Juliana were two mature characters. I enjoyed seeing the development of their relationship all while planning a wedding. They had excellent chemistry and I loved their interactions together.

The secondary characters provided great support and balance and helped to move the story forward and I loved that Juliana had such supportive girlfriends.

This novel was emotional,  steamy and well written  and I enjoyed it. I would recommend it to all lovers of contemporary romance.

Cute story. Just felt like it needed one more edit.
Wasn't quite the final draft.

For instance here's a line:

'"You think I enjoyed watching other women throw themselves at you?" Cam included, though I didn't mention her specifically."

Obviously, she didn't mention her specifically when her name is not in quotation marks.

Or this one:

"Blair smiled and babbled, though it was mostly unintelligible..."
She's talking about a baby who had just turned 1. The whole second phrase in that sentence is unnecessary.

It's not bad enough to be a 2, but it's not a final draft because there's so many of these kind of statements where she's explaining something that doesn't need explaining or telling something that should be shown.

Just needs a final tweaking, because after four books of this it becomes incredibly annoying.

That said I’ll be finishing the series.

I promise that even though life may be unpredictable, you can always count on my love ✨💚

🤍 Forced Proximity

This book was so sweet and I easily read it in one sitting. Juliana and Harrison meet by chance at a hotel bar and end up having a steamy night together. The next day when she has to meet her new client, who else but Harrison shows up with his daughter which Juliana thinks is his fiancé (insert awkward moment 😂). Harrison finds this hilarious (Juliana not so much) but it only reconfirms that there is something about her that keeps him wanting more. Juliana on the other hand is hesitant on wanting to start something since she is still healing from her tragic past, but with Harrison he slowly helps her get through.

The two are super cute together, and I really liked that this relationship is over the course of a few months and not a instant coupling. The overall plot has some tough emotional moments but plenty of good humor and I enjoyed every moment of it.

Hmmmm I am always up for the nummy OlderMan/YoungerWoman Troupe. This story does not disappoint in the spicy department. Harrison has definitely been let down in the love department before. Juliana has dealt with some HUGE heartbreak in her past.

This story has some beauty that provides a lot of emotions. All the characters were a thoughtful part of the read. Wedding planning, romance, and father of the bride elements were intriguing and kept me needing more.

To be honest, I wasn’t always completely invested in this couple, as a couple. I felt like they could work for now but I didn’t necessarily see them having a long term HEA. Truthfully that is ok. Some of the timelines felt rushed and I think it takes a long time to get over the loss and uncertainties that Juliana experienced. No quick fix for that devastation, not even a hunky retired NFL Star. He is definitely drool worthy though. Wink.

It was a good read and I am interested to see what this author has to offer in the future. Happy Reading Everyone! XOXO
