Dragon's Surrogate MatchMate

Rate this book
As a powerful dragon shifter, I had everything I wanted.
Everything except for the one thing that mattered most.
A baby.

I signed up for the Hybrid Baby Hearts service.
A surrogate mother would give me what I wanted.
No complications.
No expectations.
Little did I know that I’d be paired with my fated mate.
Lily Bradford is carrying my baby.
An innocent woman in trouble.
A gorgeous angel I craved.
Falling in love with my surrogate was a bad idea.
But I had to protect Lily from her stalker.
Her ex-boyfriend needed to back off.
And when he didn’t, that’s when all hell broke loose.
The enemy was a wolf shifter and had her hostage.
The fire within me intensified.
The love that I had for her grew.
I knew I had to save her.
To make her mine and make my family complete.

Only made it through 27% and quit!

Wow. I understand that typos happen. But for no proofreader to catch champagne being called Champaign (and it was capitalized just like the city would be), or at the heading of the second chapter calling the dragon by the husband's name, was infuriating! I continued to realize that the book seemed to jump from situation to situation, with nothing in between to build a story on. By the time I reached 27% I realized that I truly disliked ALL of the characters and it was time to stop reading. Lily started out okay but then it jumped to her workplace. The rich husband in this story would never have allowed his wife to work, he was too jealous. In her first meeting with the dragon she makes a statement that clearly labels her a gold digger and all after makes it clear that she doesn't miss her husband at all! And the dragon? He's an egotistic ass who doesn't treat women well. After reading this I'm kind of shocked that I made it to 27%!

I made myself finish

They're really just wasn't anything redeeming about this story. The storyline was haphazard and disjointed. We find her leaving an ex husband that I have no idea why he was even brought into the storyline since an ex-boyfriend who was the villain of the story. As far as our hero, he was a classic jerk. When it was first decided they were just going to do the surrogate thing oh, it was basically wham bam thank you ma'am and goodbye. Saving her from the X and then inviting her out to dinner where he go gets her take out and drops her off at the hotel?? Grammar was another problem as many times the wrong words were used and some sentences I couldn't even figure out what was being said. I hate to be so critical but there was just nothing redeeming about this work

Very juvenile

The story was cute but the writing style was not to my taste. Beside the obvious grammar errors and incorrect word usage, the story read like a b list movie or a cartoon. Boring and predictable the dialogue was a snooze fest. The female character obviously had no problem being walked all over by her husband and then no problem becoming basically a “kept” woman. The male character was not too bright either. “Oh, my woman has been kidnapped! I think I will randomly fly around the city until I find her!” Brilliant! (Heavy on the sarcasm)

Good book

This would’ve been a great read except it needs to be proofread better. Chapter 2 is titled “Adam” who is the husband but is actually about Felix the dragon.

It was ok but there is some mistakes in it. At the beginning where he’s flying you have his name the same as her husband Adam. I don’t like how they just jumped in bed to make the baby, she didn’t even see a doctor first

Grammar errors

Cheesy in places with a shallow plot. Total read time: 45 mins. No real surprises. Sex doesn't help sell this one.

PNR involving wolf and dragon shifters and the 1 woman they want to claim as their own

Contains subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, adult intimate scenes and violence.

This PNR contains a theme about wolf and dragon shifters. There is violence throughout, including stalking, attempted kidnapping, assault, destruction of property, death, etc. The intimate scenes are not very detailed, although they do contain some. If any of these types of scenes are a trigger, or offensive to you, please do not purchase and then rate it lower than it deserves.

This story can be read as a stand-alone, as it is the first of the series, and I couldn’t find any other references to other series that it could be a spin off from. There are a couple of grammatical errors, including one where the hero is called the wrong name early on in the story.

Here is a high level overview of how the story begins:

This story is about a female, Lily, that finds herself thrown out of her house, quickly divorced, fired from her job, and if the last 2 weeks weren’t bad enough, she has a run in with her ex-boyfriend from college, a wolf shifter. They had split because he had started to get too possessive. Then he shows up after all of this time and it seems like he has only gotten worse.

The only positive thing to happen was a hot dragon shifter, Felix, comes by and helps her get away. He buys her dinner, gives her a ride back to her hotel and gives her his number. Guess he was to good to be true when he didn’t reach out to her ...

Then a little while later, Lily sees an ad on TV about becoming a surrogate for a dragon. She doesn’t hesitate and applies right away. Then she gets a call that she has been matched for someone. As she arrives at the company, she runs into Felix ... Could this be just a coincidence? Or, is it fate?

I don’t want to accidentally provide any spoilers so I am going to stop here.

Very cute story

I really enjoyed this story, it's the first I've read by Maia Starr and am very glad I did. That being said I did have a some issues with it. First off I just want to say I love this theme and it was very sweet and cute. I saw some people didn't like how arrogant Felix is but it didn't really bother me. I feel like it sort of suited him as a dragon shifter and when you get to see his sweet side, humor and how much he loves Lily, it balanced it out for me. I did feel like some things were really rushed and could've been expanded upon a bit, like Adam. I wish we could have learned a bit more of the relationship and dynamic between Lily and Adam and maybe the friends as well. Maybe some flashbacks would've been nice, but honestly it's not a huge deal and it doesn't take anything away from the story it just didn't add much either.
I had a bit of a confusing read with the second chapter because its labeled "Adam." He and Lily are the only two characters we had been introduced to this far so I found myself completely lost. The characters in the second chapter never have their names mentioned in it so you're led to believe Adam is the shifter which after the first chapter is very bizarre and confusing. Maybe add Felix's name to the synopsis of the book if possible. I think if I had known the main characters names it would be been obvious that it was just an error.
Overall I did really like the book I actually wish it had been longer. I would've liked to have seen more of their relationship and really wanted to see her meeting the family at the sisters party. I see there is a second "Matchmate Agency" series book coming out in a few days and will definitely be reading it.

Three and a half stars...

Lily made the mistake of letting others believe she was a trophy wife... as a result, when her husband's true colors shine through she looses everything, home, income, and the people she'd thought were friends.

At first glance Felix isn't much different than Lily's ex-husband, but the more we get to know him the more he proves to be respectful, A gentleman, willing to let her set the pace, comparatively too good to be true, what's the catch?

This done in one quick read has a lot of pieces that are thrown in, seemingly with the expectation the reader is going to pull them together. In some cases, like the ex-husband and ex-boyfriend a trend and certain degree of taste is mentioned, but in other places, the connections aren't made, and are harder to find.

I enjoyed Felix realizing he was looking for the wrong thing, in his pursuit of happiness, or perhaps going about things in the wrong order, I just wish Lily had been better served by the story. (A bit of a spoiler but, if her boss had told her something to the effect of 'give it 12 months and they'll not only be begging you to come back, they'll be offering you a raise' it would have helped with her looking for a short term solution.)

Wow loved it

Loved this book the instant chemistry between Felix and Lily when they first meet is apparent then meeting each other again at the shifter baby surrogate meeting. They are surprised to see each other at the agency but glad and then when they find out they are matched it seems like fate. They aren’t meant to be in
touch with each other until the end of the pregnancy but Felix couldn’t wait to see Lily again. Lily’s ex boyfriend Hunter a wolf shifter has come Barack to claim her as his which she does not want Felix has already had to remove him once from her Lily doesn’t understand why he still thinks she is his. Felix has strong feelings for Lily and thinks she is his mate she calms his dragon down but Hunter is around again he is going feral that’s why he thinks Lily is his. Hunter manages to kidnap Lily when Felix catches up to them Hunter has gone mad and the fight begins this won’t be over until Hunter is dead.

A cute story

I enjoyed reading this one! The characters grow on you. Lily started off irritatingly mercurial and a little bit more aggravating. There were a few typos at the beginning, a name mix up between her ex and the dragon. That was confusing a little bit. Then there was the timing. Who gets divorced in a month? It doesn't seem plausible. Then the rental car keys, no resolution, but Hunter came out of nowhere too... But after all that, I swear it gets better! It was almost like two different people wrote it. The first part was choppy and Lily's character was annoying and then someone else wrote the rest of it where it got better. You should read the whole book though or it just won't make sense!

I was a bit confused at first thinking this would be from 3 points of view because one headline said Adam but I am fairly certain it was actually Felix.
Felix is not likable. He is arrogant, he has the attention span of a toddler, he thinks he is charming but he is really just annoying, and he breaks up with his playdate and decides to have a baby all in one day because of course after telling a girl you are done having fun with her because you are bored with her the first thing you are going to think is oh yeah I want a baby.
Lily was entitled, she was boring, and whiny, and honestly an idiot. She falls in love at the drop of a hat.
I also love that the cover has a green dragon but Felix is brown....talk about accuracy.

Terrific playboy dragon shifter wanting the baby

Felix is a dragon shifter who is restless. Lily is a divorced from a jealous husband, no job, and a stalker ex-boyfriend who she hasn't seen since college. Oh! She is pregnant with Felix's baby. What more could go wrong?

The characters are hilarious, Intriguing,, emotional, and relatable. The plot is a fast paced romantic drama with a surprising twist. I was surprised with the interesting twist that kept me reading until the last hilarious ending..

Highly recommended.

Insta-love/lust read.
Cute story concept, but it felt so rushed in sections while others were drawn out. She gets kicked out by her husband, fired from her job, harassed by an ex, and get pregnant and kidnapped all within the first few chapters. It was an ok read I think just not the style I am use to reading.

Disjointed story

I just couldn't root for a HEA for the two main characters. The storyline seemed jumbled. It went from one persons POV to other secondary characters I just couldn't follow along and enjoy the story. I don't think I will read the following story in the series. But I will give the author another chance and try one of her other series.

Wow

Fast paced crazy unpredictable plot with engaging characters. While I felt like at first Felix was shallow arrogant and a playboy once he found his mate he became a better man. Lily was feisty in a quiet way and despite being hurt in the beginning didn’t let it stop her from surviving. Characters could have had more depth but the excitement helped improve things.

Sweet read

I loved the interaction between the characters. Fun and flirty , joyous and protective. The villain was evil incarnate , wanting lily at any cost. His plans for her had me squirming in my seat praying Felix got to her in time! I couldn’t put it down.
