The Bloodwood Academy #2

The Bloodwood Academy Shifter: Semester Two

Rate this book
What do a Vampire, a Fae, and a hunk of a Wolf have in common?

Me.
They all have me.

Remember that whole ‘don’t sleep with other students rule’ that I blew out of the water? Turns out it wasn’t the only thing I blew.

Finn, Howl, and Saxon are officially mine, and after facing a kidnapping, crashing an underground blood party and going toe to toe with the Alpha Wolf my boys are stuck to me like flypaper on an untrimmed bush.

Too bad things for us are about to go upside down.
It all started with a piece of paper from a certain bullnosed wolf challenging me to a life-or-death battle of wills.
Here I was thinking Bloodwood Academy for the Supernatural was going to be easy.

My hands are full with a new semester, new duties, and three dangling… men. I might have a problem if the mysterious fourth guy that Saxon keeps talking about shows up.

Bloodwood Academy is a full-length Reverse Harem with no end to throbbing actions, breathless battles, and page turning scenes that will make you want to lock your door and shut out the world for a while.

DNF @ 70%

I just couldn't make myself continue anymore.

I got over the butt to mouth sex scene, after copious amounts of gagging. Just say no to fecal matter in the mouth. What really ruined it all for me (after I stopped gagging) was the plot.

First, you have the alpha of a strong pack challenging a young, inexperienced, female shifter for his alpha position, a to the death challenge, of course. SHE doesn't challenge him, HE challenges her. Really? Why the heck would he do that? No alpha is going to do that. That makes ZERO sense. He obviously loses and before she can kill him he runs away with most of the pack choosing to follow the weaker and dumber wolf. Right, that's how that works. Where do they run off to hide? The academy. The bad guys have taken up living in the freaking school.

Which brings me to point number two. Her pack "good guys" know they're living there, they know the "bad guys" will be out to try to kill them so their response? Let's continue going to school!! The headmistress and the teachers are all in with the bad guys, but we definitely should continue going to class. Don't be a fool stay in school!

I. Just. Can't. This is ridiculously contrived. I tried to keep going but after that I lost all interest because it wasn't getting any better. Every time they went to school I could only roll my eyes at the issues they would encounter.

I do not recommend.

This was a cute and fun followup to book one. While I loved the first one a lot more, overall I didn’t feel like too much got done here. She has her ‘showdown’ with Howl’s dad in which she nearly wins until his people cart him away before she can finish him off. She becomes Alpha-but only kind of. The mystery on her heritage is a slow learnt process which is unfortunate because she needs all the tools at her disposal as possible. If she has skills that can be used, she needs to know ASAP so she can hone them. Finding answers however without letting on that she’s not 100% wolf shifter is no easy task. Her mother popped in at the end and all I have is questions for her that I’m hoping the next book will answer. Why did she keep ivy in the dark? Why did they live the way they did, was it all a cover? So many questions and no real answers this time around. Even her ex turned up and while he keeps claiming to be on her side I can’t see past his dickish behavior. I just don’t like him. I only hope he’s a speed bump and not another mate for her, please, anyone else 🙏🏼. Hopefully the next book will have Ivy finally taking out Petar and dealing with the bigger problem, finding her place in the world and stopping the segregation of the races. There’s a reason she’s mated to future heirs and of mixed race herself, looking forward to finding out why that is.

I really tried but damn it it was really ridiculous.
Lots of things made no sense (school if full of bad guys who wants you dead and you stay there ? why the students don't warn their parents about what is happening ? why no one outside of the school take action against the headmistress ?).
That series needs a lot of proof-reading. The amount of mistakes weights down the already tiresome story.

I really enjoyed the first book, but the second one .... ugh. This just couldn’t hold my attention.

Saxon and Finn serve zero purpose except for screwing Ivy. These characters felt super flat and disjointed in book one, but I assumed that they would get fleshed out more in the second book, but they don’t. At least not by the 52% where I decided to give up.

Howl isn’t much better - basically a p***y-whipped puppy. All the cloak and dagger around her mother and lineage was just irksome instead of building intensity.

The book reads like a fantastical, made up story a child would tell. Each chapter getting more pedestrian and over the top. My eyebrows kept rising with each page because it’s just so preposterous.

Not in a fun “magical school” kind of way, but in a “this makes zero sense” kind of way.

The snark I loved from Ivy in book 1 just felt so forced and read like the author was trying too hard to make her bad ass. Ivy hasn’t grown as a person at all so .... I’m out.

Okay well i read this one straight from book one. I liked certain parts really well but it had moments that dragged hence why it's 3 stars....a very strong 3 stars but not quite a 4 for me. Loved the training sessions they made me laugh. The librarian creeped me right out that's probably why it's not 4 stars because of her lol. The story line is moving and I loved the ending. What an entrance.

AHHHH! What an amazing book to read. I literally devoured this book in one sitting. I was so excited when I first started reading this book and let me just say that it was a crazy ride. I was holding my breath, sitting on the edge of my seat and needing to take a FREAKING COLD SHOWER just to cool down. I love Ivy Potter, she is funny and kick-ass main character. Her guys, are just as amazing as they are SEXY. Everything that happens in this book was crazy intense. Some characters make their return and I for one was shocked with one person. The other I totally despise. So what will Ivy do? Will she win this fight? Will she find her parents? So many questions I could answer but if I did that then you will never read this book.

If you like sexy men, an AMAZING FMC, bad guys then read this series. You will not be disappointed.

He's back

This book picks up right where the other left off. I think my favorite character is Scarlett, what can I say she is just hilarious. The ending of this one about killed me and the mystery of everything going on behind the scenes at this school is intense.

Lots of action in this book. Well, lot of of sex also but that's besides the point. I love that Ivy doesn't let them keep her down. She keeps fighting for her future. I enjoyed learning more about her mother's history. That ending, however, left my mouth hanging wide open. That certainly didn't match what I read in book 1. I am very curious what brought change about. I am off to read book 3 because I have to know what happens next.

Ok

First up, read Foxx for the heat - seriously, she knows how to weave the spice. Plot? Not so much. I mean, it’s ok, but there are a few too many things ‘on the nose’, or fated, or instant.... gives me a headache. That said, there is still talent here, and that should not be disregarded. I like the story, I just don’t love it - but I still kinda need to know what happens.

3 Alpha Up Stars
I want to start off saying I loved Book #1. I adored Book #1. I came in expecting the same theme in everything and was provided with some definite twists that for my experience as a reader I didn't enjoy.

First would be with this novel we were introduced to some MM themes within our Harem. Had that been introduced in Book #1 I probably wouldn't have been so blindsided. I was taken back when she requested one of the guys do something to another of the men then in another scene when she did something to one of them. Like I said out of left field with that one.

Second I was hoping our Leading Lady would rise to her new position with grace. Instead I felt like she had the position without the power or respect of the others.

Third we were introduced to a previous character and he kept calling her "Bitch" "Whore" and every other vulgar term he could think of when addressing her. Excuse me but when is it ok for a man to call the Leading Lady a Bitch every other sentence and we are ok with that? I am not ok with how he talks to her!

For her second Book I feel like Rae did a great job. I still finished the book in one day. I was happy I read it but I was let down by some of the parts of the book. I wanted our Leading Lady to grow and blossom... turn into the woman I know she can be and I felt like she was very High School Angsty. I will continue with this series and look forward to Book #3.

If you haven't already, these books are an absolute must read. They'll have you giggling one minute then feeling all hot and bothered the next. 5 star read. 100% recommend.

my gosh!!! I love being left reeling at the end of a book. Boy was that a good and unexpected ending. I literally can not wait for semester Three......

The bloodwood Academy semester one and two are both Absalutely brilliant reads. Rae Fox just has this brilliant way with words. She expresses her imagination with such humour and whit. Its hard not to find yourself full on chuckling through out these books.

The whole concept of the story is brilliant. Rae has incorprated shifters, witches, fae and demons throw them all together into an academy: and has spun them into this groovy tale and then make it a reverse harem. Which is great
I love RH books. I love the idea of being worshipped and loved by multiple men so of course i love reading about it.

The Sex scenes are fab. I love reading books that portray good solid sex scenes. Rae is Absalutely brilliant at writing about sex, she manages to give us such filth and hard core smut that it feeds our deepest fantasies.

Al in all i jabe really enjoyed reading semester Two and can't wait for book 3.

5 massive stars from me.

It was good...

Until she caved in to Tommy. He is a bully. He is emotionally abusive. He kept telling her she couldn't achieve anything. That she was just a trailer trash girl. And she swoons over him??? After Finn, Howl, and Saxon who are amazing, she swoons for the child??? Over the story.

Academy/RH MMMM/Supernatural

SYNOPSIS (of 4 Book Series): This series is set in the modern world but there is no little reference to humans and supernaturals just seem to live with them but unknown to them. The FC (Ivy) is brought up in a trailer park, abandoned by her father, left with a druggie mother and a deadbeat boyfriend. She discovers she is a shifter by accident and is then given a scholarship to attend a supernatural academy. It is there that she finds out she is not just a shifter and her parents were not just deadbeat humans. The story arcs over 4 books where the FC and the MCs (wolf, fae, vampire & demon) try to prevent Ivy being taken and killed or used as a sacrifice to end the world. There is an (almost complete) HEA. To fully complete the story you would need to read a fifth book.

If you like pure smut and crudity as opposed to romance then this is a series for you. In fact the series should be under porn more that NA. This is definitely one of those series where I do not understand the amount of 5 star reviews. Whilst Book 1 makes you think the series might be good, the remainder quickly dispel that illusion. There is no way this series is close to 5 star.

The series is written and edited well although there are some annoying editing issues which need to be corrected - wrong words used, missing words, sentences that don’t make sense etc. - but not sufficient to really impact the flow. The issue I had was with the style and the content.

Book 1 starts off with a sex scene which sets the mood for the remainder of the series which, in my view, has far too many sex scenes which just ramble on. The sex scenes in Books 1&2 are hot enough 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ but, for me, soon transition into being too crude to be sexy and hot, too many and too long. By Book 5 they more gratuitous than enjoyable and just boring. The scenes quickly move into double penetration; A$$; bondage and then A$$ licking which, for me, is not romantic and just crude and crass. I enjoy hot, spicy and well written scenes. That was not the case with these. e.g. Need to save the world? Oh, let’s have a quick (20 pages) sex scene. “He’s already fu*&ed me everywhere I can be fu*&ed”; “Let me smell your c*&t” - yes, that’s so romantic. The writing and scenes jarred and I ended up skipping them.

As for the main characters, I enjoy a badass, cool and snarky heroine but this FC is one that quickly moves from strong and snarky to crass, over the top and just cringe worthy. She’s weak, stupid and not someone anyone would follow. The MCs are cardboard cutouts. Within barely 5 minutes of meeting the MCs the FC is screwing two of them (together) and with one, before she even finds out his name. There’s absolutely no background given on the MCs, no build up as to attraction between them or attempt to create any kind of relationship or connection. Just an immediate jump to sex and “my mate”. It means that the story lacks depth and is simply a series of sex scenes woven together by a loose and confusing story. The MCs do not come across as strong - one is even described as shaking in fear on several occasions - and you don’t get much physical description so it’s hard to visualise each. I’m not sure you even get the surname of some of them!

As for the Demon MC, that storyline is a joke. He is beyond unlikeable especially with his history with the FC and to have him as one of the FC’s mates was the last straw for me. He calls her a Bitch, a C*nt and talks down to her as if she is an idiot (not that the FC is the brightest bulb in the pack) and is incredibly patronising e.g. “You are stupider than a steaming pile of shit on the street” - nice.

This could have been a really enjoyable series. Ironically the author can write and the base story started decently enough but it was ruined by crass OTT sex scenes every five minutes, an annoying heroine and MCs who were pathetic and weak. Add in plot gaps - how did Nicky amass an army? Who is Nicky and why were people following her? What happened to Selene’s father and Selene? Why wasn’t Nicky killed sooner? What was the point of Pater? Kalensa’s story makes little sense - if she died when she made Oberion how/when did she also make fae and vampires? Where did all the hybrids come from - and the list continues

By Book 3 even the half way decent story (what there is of it) started to descend into the ridiculous. The FC is such an idiot that there is no way she would be seen as a leader or saver of the world and her MCs are equally as weak and pointless. The fact that the author still had the characters attending a school where the main villain was the headmistress (not headmaster as the author insists on calling her) and was still present makes no sense nor does the headmistress expelling the FC and MCs. The multiple fight scenes that seem to achieve nothing except to show the FC as incapable are confusing - one minute the FC and her pack are winning then they’re not, then they are, then there are witches that can defeat everyone but the FC’s mother is super powerful but apparently does nothing and the FC is super powerful but can’t fight back…. I almost threw my kindle against the wall midway through Book 5 the book was just so badly written.

**********Contains Spoilers**********

This book was awesome. Ivy and her mates work together to find out more about her origins and how she has magic when it shouldn’t be possible since they know that her dad’s actually the first shifter, instead of a mortal who left her and her mum. I love the connection that Ivy has with Howl, Finn and Saxon as well as that connection that they have to each other and it’s obvious that they all care about each other a lot. I was shocked when Ivy’s ex-boyfriend Tommy comes back into the picture bringing the stench with him since he’s actually a Demon and had been feeding off her for years. It’s one thing if she agreed to it but he was always constantly making her mad so he could feed off her emotions. I’m really hoping that Ivy doesn’t end up being mated to him as well, as he treats her like sh*t, constantly degrades her and calls her a b*tch like all the time. I’m looking forward to reading what happens next especially with Ivy, her mates and her pack hiding out in the caves after Pater and his sadistic pack attacked Ivy’s pack while her, Finn and Saxon were at the Witches Solstice party trying to gather information on her mother since she found out that her mother is actually a Witch so that’s where her powers originate from so they ran to save their lives. I’d recommend this book, series and author to everyone.

Not Impressed

While I totally loved the first book of series I was quite disappointed with this second book! My expectations for this book quickly went down hill at the climax. Not to spoil anyone's reading experience but damn Rae you disappointed the hell out me. Where was the win for our heroine and heroes?

You know I hate it when an author builds a character to be one way like a total badass in the readers minds and out of nowhere BAM! that badass gets her ass beat... Mind you not once but multiple times by the same characters over and over again... My goodness Rae you have so many other areas you could've pulled villains from instead of beating the same dead horse... I'm tried of reading about Pater and Nicky... it's getting boring now! We need something more and fresh!

I'm seriously debating if I'm going to read book 3 of this series now... Ugh so unimpressed!

Overall Rating:
3* ~ It's An Okay Read

Getting better

This book was much improved from the last. Non-stop action from start to finish. This paranormal RH Series must be read in order. Each ends in a cliffhanger, but all books are out. We get a bombshell at the end of this one.
Vivid trying to figure out her new life and new role. Seems everyone is Steinbrenner and I still can't figure out why they would drag someone off to an academy they didn't want there to begin with. Nicky and Pater are pure evil. I am kinda hoping they die by the same a means they have killed others. There may be another addition to the harem (a blast from the part), but I can't figure out how the author is going to make us like him. Lots of battles and lots of angst with even more steamy scenes. This time there is some f/m/m, not just m/f/m, but it's mild.

The fmc is called Ivy and she grew up in a trailer park. her dad left her when she was a kid. she had little hope of a future until one day she ran into some wolves in the forest and she feels a connection to them. next thing she knows, theres a lady at her trailer that says she should attend an academy for the supernatural. of course, there are mean girls there and she is pushed down because shes poor. and of course, it turns out she is not only a wolf shifter but also like super duper-powerful. its illegal to mate with people of other species but of course that is the first thing she does. then she also gets a vampire mate and a wolf mate. it moves way too fast, is so predictable and boring. and not to mention childish. not my vibe.

Even better than the first book in the series! !

I am far older than the heroine of this series, but I can identify with her a great deal.

The writing is tight. Not a lot of fluff, but enough background to flesh out the characters and their world.

It's hard to make me laugh but both books in the series that I have read have made me laugh, long after the pages that got me laughing.

I read three to four books a week and delete them when done. Not the Blood wood Academy series. They are keepers! I have no doubt that I will be reading them multiple times and still enjoying them!

This is depressing. The series started out pretty good. But here we are at the end of book two and I'm already leary.

The fact that they're going to add a demon who clearly loves to hurt Ivy and not in a sexual manner is kind of deteriorating.

I think that women have enough people abusing them that they don't need to add it to books. Not like this anyway. This book was shaping up to be really cool and then it just went downhill.

I am going to attempt to read book three and if by the end of book three I don't see any redeeming qualities I'm not going to finish the series. Too bad so sad.

I was hoping this one was gonna be better than book one but that unfortunately wasn’t the case. Ivy got 0 character development and was just annoying. A LOT of this story just didn’t make sense to me. I was also hoping to get to know more about the guys but they still lacked depth just like in book one. And when Tommy came back into the picture that’s what really put the nail into the coffin for me. I will not be completing this series. I hated Tommy when we first met him and still hated him when he came back. He was horrible to Ivy and they just made no sense together.

Very cool

I love this series. Easy to read, freaking hot, sassy FMC. The dialogue is better In this book. Less immature and more believable. There are the typical concerns with any book. Some decisions they make are confusing and don't really follow what you would expect in the situation but as the story itself isn't an in-depth war based book, it's a simple enough task to overlook the irrational and just enjoy the story for what it is.

I would have given this book four stars except of effing Tommy. I hate that mofo sooooo much that I refuse to read the next book in this otherwise great series if he is one of Ivy’s mates. I loved this book until the end when Tommy had to ruin it all. Uhhhh... Tommy is such an asshole and doesn’t deserve respect AT ALL. He treats Ivy terribly. Can we just kill him off ‘cause then I would love this book.

Wow!!!

So for me this is pretty much all about that ending! Personally I'd love it if Tommy wasn't meant to be one of her mates as I don't like him. He's not even the moody, silent strong type he's sleazy and that doesn't make him nice to read. The ending though was a page that has me reaching instantly for the next book. I'm sincerely hoping someone gets their just desserts in this next book.

Character development and some mystery twists are getting good!

I am seeing a lot of improvement since book one. She is really developing herself as an author. There is more sex scenes in this book and they are detailed but still not pornworthy as some reviewers try to call it. This book helps fill in some missing info and history on the characters, as well as, deepens the mystery. It's a good follow-up to book one and a great lead up to book three!

A better Installment

This second installment i found to be more enjoyable, still lots of RH adult scenes but with more story line to give it context. With added surprises of old lovers reappearing, Ivy mothers true identity revealed and more powers thrown in. This book is starting to pick up.
