Affirmations by Stuart Wilde, is not just a collection of nice words to say to yourself, but serves as a magnificent battle-plan, where you learn to expand the power you already have in order to win back absolute control of your life. "Using the power of the light within you, you are able to pull energy from the Universal Mind. It will give you a transcendent view that you can use for any endeavor you choose. Many great people in history have understood the simplicity of this power and used it to exhibit genius."--Stuart Wilde Once you understand the concepts taught in Affirmations , you will be able to rightly affirm, "My expectations are truly limitless."
Wilde was born in Farnham, England. He was educated at St. George’s College, Weybridge, Surrey. After his schooling he joined the English Stage Company in Sloane Square, London. A year later he opened a jeans business in Carnaby Street London, at the height of the Swinging Sixties where he enjoyed considerable commercial success.
He studied alternative religions and Taoist philosophy for five years from the age of twenty-eight, and when he was thirty-three, he emigrated to the United States of America where lived in Laguna Beach, California with his first wife Cynthia. He wrote his first book, Miracles, in 1983.
Shortly thereafter he began a career as a lecturer appearing mainly in New Thought Churches and at New Age conferences. In the 1990s he toured regularly with Deepak Chopra, Dr. Wayne Dyer and Louise Hay, appearing at venues such as the Sydney Entertainment Centre.
tuart Wilde is a prolific writer, with eighteen of his books published to date. They appear in more than fifteen foreign languages, with a total of ninety-three different books and audio works in circulation.[2]
He executive produced and was the lyricist on the music album Voice of the Feminine Spirit (1994), which sold several hundred-thousand copies. He later produced and was the lyricist on two albums of Celtic music, Voice of the Celtic Myth (1997), and Creation (1999), and wrote the book and libretto for Tim Wheater’s oratorio Heartland (1995).
I feel somewhat guilty writing this review, because I could only get through the first quarter of the book. Those 30 pages include little in the way of discussion of affirmations and instead focus on Wilde's personal belief and philosophy; including his views that 7000 years ago, the Earth was populated by enlightened sages and people live inside an electromagnetic field called The Circle, which cuts off access to The God Force. As an atheist, I just couldn't take Wilde seriously. He actually made some compelling points, but the way he made them was grating for me.
Based on other reviews, it sounds like this book has a lot to offer. But I couldn't take it seriously enough to get to the good part.
This is a pretty awesome book. its not like the title suggests a book full of one line affirmation statements its a book on how to do affirmations properly and to anyone who uses affirmations to improve their lives this is a pretty awesome read. Like a lot other stuart wilde books this is really small and can be read in a day but is something that needs to be reread a few times and his suggestions applied to get any real value out of this book.
This was on my book shelf forever and I had read part of it a while ago but didn't finish it then. I skimmed read the rest of it as I didn't like his writing style at all. I believe in the power of affirmations but some of his beliefs were not for me.
When a friend of mine suggested the book "Affirmations" by Stuart Wilde, I thought it would be about creating affirmations. I’m glad it wasn’t. It’s actually about the journey of self-discovery and empowerment, with a unique view on life, spirituality, and personal responsibility.
While it does dip at times into the practice of affirmations, it mostly explores our relationships with the spiritual world and the divine. Wilde challenges you to acknowledge your role in the shaping of your life, by emphasizing the immense control and influence you possess.
His writing is clear, pointed, and sometimes funny, making the book accessible and engaging. And it’s well-paced, with short chapters that don’t feeling overwhelming.
I like books that aren’t afraid to get a little weird. But its spiritual and ethereal themes may not resonate with everyone. Especially if you have strong scientific or religious beliefs.
I give "Affirmations" a well-deserved 5 out of 5. It’s a book that I highlighted ALOT, and I think it deserves multiple reads to fully grasp its message. Highly recommended.
Dear friend, if you come across this book make sure you read it. If you decide to read only one book this year, please make it this one. You won't come out these pages the same person. As an added bonus, the journey through this book is also filled with much humor and laughter.
Excellent book. Read it with The Force and The Quickening. For newbies, you won't be able to put the book down. Highly recommend. Stuart Wilde taught many of todays current authors and speakers of metaphysics and spirituality. Ck out your library for this one but you may want to own your own copy and grab a highlighter!!!
