This is a really sweet book about a girl who googled Jesus and wants to spread the word to beginners of faith. Sometimes it’s nice to read beginning faith books to take me back to the basics.
This is such a cute little book for anyone really! But especially if you are starting out on your faith journey! I love following Ashley! Doing the holy 40 challenge, this was a perfect book to start with! She has so many good recommendations to help you! Loved this book! Quick and easy read!
great short read. it’s a great introduction to faith that reading gave me such a big heart of gratitude for places like delight and compass church who have given me the best community to foster my faith in. highly highly recommend for new christians!!!
great book for anyone looking to start their faith journey. some of the things i already knew from going to a christian high school but she had some other ideas i never thought of. highly recommend this book, it's a great basic explanation on how to get started, what to do next, etc.
I started watching Ashley Hetherington on YouTube, and I saw she had a book out, and it’s less than 100 pages. I figure I’m giving my faith another go so why not give it a read. It’s been years since I’ve actively been to church, prayed regularly, done any sort of reading the Bible or anything like that. With my past being what it is after I left high school and then the pandemic happened where a lot of so called “Christians” were using their religion to act like….that…you know what I mean. And just I had so many questions and doubts with my main one being why do Christians use their religion to be nasty towards people who are being nothing but their loving authentic self, even if it’s something they don’t agree with. But all that aside I tried again, and this book was a great starting point, wherever you are in your faith journey, be it just finding Jesus or thinking Christianity might be for you or maybe your friend wanted to invite you to a younglife club and you wanted to know more about what’s going on. It’s a great book and it reads so easily like she’s talking to you on a personal level. On a side note in the book it talks about her praying like just having conversations with Jesus like you would your best friend without this formality to it, and I’m like God please help me figure out how to pray like this, and on this mornings devotional thing I was doing from one of my apps it was about prayer and praying ceaselessly, and just opening your heart up to Jesus and having regular conversations with Him. He already knows exactly who you are, might as well embrace it
An excellent book for a new-starter to faith - and a great reminder in awareness for those of us reaching out to people who are taking that step. I love the simplicity and honesty of this book, along with the testimony shared therein.
I was particularly impressed with the author's honesty in the section on prayer and being completely open with God, in our own vernacular, mood and outlook; God can only help us grow if we're not masking how we're feeling, or faking positivity out of guilt for feeling negative about life. That being said, I think it is prudent to mention that we do also need to remember to give God due reverence - not as a replacement for including Him in our honest trains of thought - but in addition to this. As I'd been contemplating this, the Bible app verse of the day had popped up with Proverbs 9:10 - "The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding" - which I took as a nudge to include in this review. So begin with respect and in reverence, acknowledge the sovereignty of God - and then proceed to share with Him everything in your most honest and open regard. You don't need to be poetic, just free, and the truth will set you free!
Thank you Ashley for a lovely read - even with the pop culture references being so scarily relatable!
We got to know Ashley's upbringing and what led her to God, and I love that she was vulnerable enough to share her past with us. This book was a great guide for someone seeking to learn more about drawing closer to the Lord. This book was well structured, plotted, and executed. Ashley includes jokes as well, so it doesn't feel like you're reading an instruction manual.
I hope to read more of Ashley's work to deepen my faith.
If there are any baby Christians who are looking for books that won't overwhelm you with information, this is it. She takes you step by step, giving you advice and her personal experiences to walk you through it. That way, you can understand it to your full ability and get a successful outcome. 5/5 star book, I would recommend.
I have been believing in Jesus my whole life, but I haven't really lived like it and have always felt like a beginner. So this book was perfect for me. Even though I already knew many things and have a Bible, a Church and a Smallgroup, there were so many things I could learn from this beginners guide. I specifically love that there are many suggestions for each topic. I already downloaded the Verses app and the Bible Project app and love my new Hosanna Revival Bible. Thank you, Ashley! Lots of love from Switzerland❤️
I found it really boring at lots of times but some things were rewarding especially the last page was really cute and almost made me cry. I think I am just a bit too far into my faith journey for this and because I am familiar with all of this it was nothing new and I just finished it for the sake of not DNF-ing it. I think for a person completely new to faith this would be good though.
4.5 ⭐️ Loved it, it really helped me see the steps that I still need to take and I really related to a lot of stuff. I just didn't like the use of such casual language, kinda took me out of the read sometimes.
I have known Jesus for a long long time. But Ashley and her heart for Jesus made me want to read this beautiful primer for any new believer and those who want to be reacquainted with Him. This should be required reading for new believers along with a beautiful Bible to grow in.
This was a great read! It’s prefect for those who are ABSOLUTE BEGINNERS and know nothing about God or how to read the Bible. Even if you aren’t a beginner, there are still valuable takeaways and even some good references and information I’m definitely going to use going forward. If you’re coming back to your faith it is a valuable source too!
I love her on YouTube and how she is so on fire for her faith and I’m so glad I picked up her book and learned more about Jesus, myself, and even her story.
I love Ashley and her content, and this book was so so good! This book is made for new believers and older ones and is such a practical, refreshing and personal read about how to deepen your relationship with Jesus and grow in your faith. Highly recommend!
