If you knew how to make the relationship better, you would have done that years ago. That doesn’t mean there aren’t real answers to the issues in your marriage.
Every marriage struggles occasionally, but sometimes the problems feel insurmountable and we think the only answer is to make the heartbreaking decision to leave. The distance between you and your spouse widens, the resentments mount, and you feel like you’ve tried everything but nothing ever changes.
Bestselling author and master life coach Sharon Pope knows that marriage is complicated, and that the biggest questions of our lives rarely have easy answers.
In When Marriage Needs an Answer, she equips you with the very best relationship tools to give your marriage that one last and best effort to see if real change is possible. Sharon shares personal and client testimony, offers guidance on how to approach one of the biggest decisions of your life, and helps you to: Learn why up to 74% of marriages are failing right now – and how to apply this to yours Know if hope actually exists for your struggling marriage or if it is beyond recovery Soften the anger and pain you feel toward your partner Understand why it’s critical you choose the right people to discuss your struggling marriage with, and why the wrong choice can end a marriage worth saving Recognize what keeps women stuck in indecision (and how to overcome it) When the question is stay or leave, let Sharon help you decide.
I feel like Sharon is like my iPhone, secretly listening to me and watching my every move. She really calls out all my bullshit for not making a choice. Including my furnace going out.
I can’t say I’m there yet. I want to do what she suggests. I know my answer. I’m just a chicken. I’m afraid. Of everything. It’s easier to stay and accept my fate. I don’t want to ever be here again.
I at first felt stuck. I lashed out. I attacked. Then I tried to make a conscious choice to stay and be open, soft, if you will. That didn’t get anywhere either. Am I just stressed out from kids and work? Or is this really over?
I still don’t have my complete answer. But I’m at least going to try a few of her suggestions before throwing in the towel. Not sure they’ll get me anywhere. But I need to at least try.
This isn’t JUST about sorting your relationship with someone else. It’s more about being honest with yourself - about your past and about what you want from the future. I’ve had some experience with most of the things covered in this book, but she does SUCH an amazing job putting it all together. PSA - while the general concepts are for anyone, this is very much geared toward women. I felt so seen while reading it.
This book offers so many more insights into all relationships - not just marriage. I would recommend it to anyone looking to find tools to use in communication.
Título: When marriage needs an answer Autor: Sharon Pope
This book is excellent for anyone trying to make the tough choices in life and marriage.
Goes beyond marriage and gives you necessary life skills to achieve successful relationships with others and, more importantly, yourself. If you're ready for some clarity over what to do next in your marriage, this book is for you. The concepts presented make you think and even help you transform unproductive thought patterns. Really anyone wanting a great marriage and internal self peace should read this book.
Like other reviews have said - this book is geared more for women, and yet I find myself thinking any one can read this (and should!) and take something from it. All so relatable. A good book that I will continue to come back to.
Not sure how but felt this author was writing this book for me. We shall see where it may take us, but such solid advice and guidance I am ready to apply her tools to my marriage and see what comes of it
This book has a lot of really great therapy principles included, the writing style just felt a little fluffy and like the author was just citing everyone else’s ideas and calling it her own.
Definitely have me a lot to think about. Many things she wrote were familiar to me, and there were things that I have already tried, and things that I will try. Worth reading if you are in this situation
I finished reading this with a renewed clarity about what I can do differently for myself, take responsibility, and move forward with confidence and love. Engaging and practical!!
