Enora Online #5

Seran's Reach

Rate this book
The game has changed...again.

Having traded one threat outside his foundation instance for another, Gemini Fowler enters a new phase in his mission to combat darkness in Rubal. High-level demon servants to the Underlord Caym patrol the blight. The threat of the Governor of Knall looms larger than ever.

Having left a trusted friend to advance his foundation, Gemini must venture alone into the unfamiliar Hinterlands of Seran to convince potential allies to help combat the darkness that has ruled since before anyone can remember.

But when the road north leads to a shocking discovery, the mission—and the game—changes.

Armed with a new class and trained in all-new abilities, Gemini must face a two-pronged threat from the supernatural force who would make him a slave, and the politically corrupt regent whose plans are still a mystery.

A multi-perspective, hybrid role-playing and real-time strategy experience, Seran's Reach promises an epic adventure LitRPG fans will love.

I’ve just spent a massive chunk of time addictively reading through the first two boxsets of the Enora Online series. Gotta live Kindle Unlimited as happily they’re available on KU. This stuff is freakin’ awesome and ridiculously addictive. It does just what great LitRPG is supposed to do, set up a logical excuse for how the character gets totally immersed into a virtual reality RPG world and then provide a fantastic adventure for that character which somehow logically provides RPG mechanics (the whole set of skills, advantages, ranking up etc.) in a way that totally works with the storyline. These stories, each of which ends in a totally satisfying “Happily Enough for Now” until the perfect HEA at the end of the last book in the 2nd boxset, were simply perfect. Perfect lead and supporting characters, all perfectly crafted, perfect world building, perfect storylines and perfect overall multi-book story arc. I more than highly recommend all of the books here, though it’s best to start with book 1 for maximum enjoyment.

It’s an exciting rush through Enora to make friends

As Gemini continues on his own for a bit, Solara puts opportunities in his path that he begins to see the advantages of, but will his pride be too great?
The foundation grows in leaps and bounds with Desini at the helm using her burning devotion as ground to push everyone to impress Gemini upon his return.
Time to see how his new class pans out, seems interesting and a little complicated but power should not come too easy... samurai or bard or ???

All was not as it seemed.
Venturing past the demons on the outer walls, new situations show themselves, and the original ideas of who runs the country is now made perfectly clear.
If you have ever sat and listened to gamers' chat, whilst playing, the language isn't far off the mark to that displayed by Gemini Fowler.

So much more satisfying than the previous book

For the last book, I had complained that Gemini was only playing defense and not being proactive. He is definitely getting over that and has decided to take the fight to the enemy. I liked that he is freely offering his gifts to those whom he befriends and that they are growing in experience, power, and loyalty.

More Friends for Good

This was another fun story with a lot of changes from different characters perspectives. It was exciting to see how they all work towards the common goal, the elimination of the evil plaguing their world.
I can't wait to read more!

Read in 2 days.

Winner

Finished 5 and on to 6. I am loving this story. The MC has lots of depth. Still not loving Pryia. Desini is growing on me. This took me longer to read because of the back and forth between story lines.

With the addition of the foundation there is so much more to take care of and for the bad guys and girls to exploit.

Gemini's waffling on how to perceive his new world finally ends. This isn't a game anymore - this is his life; his family; his friends, and he will go to any lengths to defend them.

Best yet

This is the first in the series to really rely on multiple viewpoints other than the main character. It allows for us to see developments happening all over the world and really helps advance the story.

Pretty good read but...

I have a really hard time with the game system in these books.

I’m assuming since this is book 3 that none of the below will be considered a spoiler. It’s supposed to be an MMO which will eventually have millions of players. And yet, the whole thing seems more like an entire world built around making this one character all-powerful. This would be ok in a single player game, but how would it even work with millions of players all making NPCs immortal companions? What happens when players who aren’t “full-time citizens” need to logout to do things like go to work?! The game currently insists that players reveal nothing about the “other world” and yet these people will be disappearing for hours or days at a time. And what happens when the players quit playing the game or if they die IRL? Are their companions just immortal and lonely for all time? And what about griefers? Someone is sure to roll up a character with really high charisma and then try to enslave everyone they meet by binding them.

Finally, I really hate the final fantasy XIV thing of changing classes by changing weapons. It’s like “what’s the point of making any decisions if you can just change your mind even in the middle of a fight?!”

Alert

I hate trying to write reviews because there are really only pass/fail results for me. Did I make it all the way through? Yes? 5 stars. No? There would be nothing here to read. In all fairness, if an author holds my attention from page one to the end, they’ve done their job. Anything less than 5 stars is petty criticism from someone incapable of even doing the job let alone doing a better one.

So in respect for the author and their work, I am going to start pasting this along with a generic review I found somewhere. “This was a fun book. I am glad that I read it. You should try it too.”

Cheers

Good

This book kept the story rolling along but I was annoyed at each chapter switching between locations and characters early in the book. It felt abrupt but did allow more story progression concurrently. I thought the story moved forward nicely and sets up for some serious action in the next instalment.

Dang

Wow what an ending. Makes the book completely awesome. A very good followup to the last one and as usual well written with just enough juicy stats to keep me excited. Highly recommend this one and the series as a whole.

Great

Another great book by this author, if you’ve liked the previous 4 you will love this one. A bit short for my preferred like but isn’t that always the case with a good book. Please write more author :D
