Happy Derren Brown, How Emotions Are Made The Secret Life of the Brain, No Alzheimer's Smarter Brain Keto Solution 3 Books Collection
In Happy Derren Brown explores changing concepts of happiness - from the surprisingly modern wisdom of the Stoics and Epicureans in classical times right up until today, when the self-help industry has attempted to claim happiness as its own. He shows how many of self-help’s suggested routes to happiness and success – such as positive thinking, self-belief and setting goals – can be disastrous to follow and, indeed, actually cause anxiety.
How Emotions Are The Secret Life of the When you feel anxious, angry, happy, or surprised, what's really going on inside of you? Many scientists believe that emotions come from a specific part of the brain, triggered by the world around us. The thrill of seeing an old friend, the fear of losing someone we love - each of these sensations seems to arise automatically and uncontrollably from within us, finding expression on our faces and in our behaviour, carrying us away with the experience. This understanding of emotion has been around since Plato. But what if it is wrong?

Derren Brown is an English mentalist, illusionist, and author. He has produced several shows the stage and television and is the winner of two Laurence Olivier Awards for Best Entertainment. He has also written books for magicians as well as the general public.
In this book Brown talks about the Stoic tradition and how it relates to the modern world. He argues, very convincingly that it's a useful guide for finding happiness.
This is not a self help book. It's merely supposed to be a suggested way of thinking about things.
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who's thinking about their mental health.
It took me ages to plough thru this book. It’s not the kind of book you can’t put down. However it contains some really interesting facts. Brown has researched happiness by looking at what the ancient philosophers like Epicticus and Aurelias said about it. Their differing views have filtered down thru the ages and are still around today. Brown is interesting because he makes you see that you can think however you want and be happy.
This site only had a grouping of 3 books. I have only read 'Happy'. This is a brilliant book. It will make you think so much and holds so much wisdom that it will hurt your head. At least it hurt mine because I do not have a brain the size of Africa. There are a lot of words in this book. Lots of them. You can't rush it. I nearly gave up on it several times but I kept going because it's so full of good stuff and I'm glad that I did.
The book is a mixture of personal stories, philosophies, and stoicism with a very healthy dose of realism thrown in.
Brown has not written a self-help book by any means, and I suspect it’ll be useful to many. Most memorable for me is Brown’s exposure of charlatans, his realism and his very stoic approach to talking about death.
I do think this book could’ve easily been half the length.
Had no idea what to expect. Only tried it because a rather bright friend of mine (!) urged me strongly to read it. And I have been gripped to it ever since. It is marvellously thought provoking and illuminating and stunningly well written. Who would have thought it?
