I’m just your average non-binary unicorn, making a living as a beauty guru on YouTube, dreaming about finding my mate. I dream about the perfect meet cute and to my absolute delight, meeting Sam is just that. He’s everything I ever pictured in a mate; strong, broad, and bearded. But will our inexperience push each other away? ~ Isaiah
I was shunned by my family after not going through with an arranged marriage. That night, I was positive I’d just met my soulmate and I was prepared to spend my life alone. That is, until I met Isaiah. All I wanna do is take care of them the way they deserve, but alpha instinct only goes so far. Lady Fate’s finally brought us together, but can we figure out the rest ourselves? ~ Sam
This 30k novella, which is book three in A Collection of Strays, is guaranteed to give you the mpreg, shifters, and low angst happily ever after you love. Fate’s Perfect Timing is filled with self discovery, panties, true mates, second changes and laugh out loud shenanigans and is intended for those 18 or over.
Toby Wise is a stay at home parent who hails from a tiny town in Wisconsin. Contrary to popular Wisconsin stereotypes, he’s not a cheese-head who enjoys beer but rather an introvert who spends all his time on the internet, drinking coffee, spending time with his kid, and cooing about his adorable cat, Pikachu.
In April of 2019, A Collection of Strays was born after the world of fanfiction drew him back into his love of writing. Now he’s writing all things omegaverse as long as it includes silly moments and found family.
Wow... the author definitely took things to a new level with this third book in the series. This was my first male/non-binary pairing story I have read and the author knocked it outta the ballpark! The feels were on steroids, which had me laughing or crying for the majority of the book. Best book in the series thus far!
Sorry not sorry but whilst I was looking for something fluffy without angst or drama, this is too much. The insta mate bond between two sweet, capable, perfect characters is combined with plain, unimaginative writing, so I'll silently excuse myself.
this was so much fun. i love unicorns.. loved the nonbinary aspect and i loved the virgin parts.. haha.. it was so much fun.. and interesting and kept me curious to see what was next.
Note: There’s a box set of the complete series. KU.
Book 3 in Toby Wise’s A Collection of Strays series. While each book covers a different couple’s relationship – these best enjoyed in order starting with Before Fate.
These continue to be the perfect mix of low angst, fated mates/instalove, and humor. In the previous books Isaiah’s made it clear that they can’t wait to find their mate. Wise crafted the perfect match for Isaiah in Sam – they’re both unicorns and content creators which give them a lot in common. They also have never even kissed someone before. It was adorable (and sometimes funny) how they navigated both being inexperienced.
I can’t wait for Cameron’s M/M/M story, Trusting Fate.
I'm a simple person - I read "non-binary unicorn" and I'm SOLD.
3.5 stars Very cute story about two youtuber unicorn shifters finding their fated mate in each other.
Content warnings include: a/b/o setting featuring shifters and mpreg, mentions of arranged marriage, discrimination, running away from home, getting kicked out by parents.
I liked the youtuber aspect to the book, though I wish it had been more in the foreground - after a certain point, it was mostly forgotten.
Fate's Perfect Timing ties in well with the other books of the series, and I recommend reading the books in order. They can be read as standalones, but I imagine a lot of things will be confusing.
Like its prequels, the novella lacks explosition. Everything happens very fast, and while I liked the characters I was missing depth to the plot and their personalities, as well as details to the plot like how much time passed between certain events. That said, I adored both Isaiah and Sam. They were both dorky and adorable, and I loved them together. I liked how they explored what it means to be fated mates and to be with each other.
The series also continues to challenge typical shifter and a/b/o stereotypes, which I appreciated! The found-family theme is still going strong, I love the family dynamics. All the characters from the previous books are very present and important, and previous events, big and small, are referenced frequently.
The non-binary rep was fine - not elaborate, but what little was said about it was quite well put, though a few side sentences didn't have the best wording in my personal opinion.
I received an ARC and reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
This was a so sweet no angst book. I've loved Isaiah, the non-binary unicorn, since we meet him in book one. I love Unicorns and there are not enough mm shifter books, good books, out there that I have been able to find. Anyway, both Sam & Isaiah are vloggers and they have watching & following each other for awhile. Isaiah knows that Sam is his mate. Charlotte finally convinces the shy Sam to come to a convention that she & Isaiah going to be on a panel. Sam asks Isaiah a question that makes Isaiah know exactly who he is. Sam doesn't show his full face on his vlogs. When they together at the after party, sparks fly. Turns out, a long time ago, Sam ran away from an arraigned marriage, guess who it was to?? Anyway heat ensues and we have our sexy times. I missed the family shifting together as we had previously, but that's okay. I can't wait for Cameron's book as I think he is going to break my heart.
ARC provided by LesCourt Services in exchange for an honest review
If you're looking for something teeth-rotting-fluffy-sweet and with no angst (I mean, literally none - there's no conflict here, folks), then this is a story for you!
I've been looking forward to Isaiah's story, I love how sweet and adorable they are. Isaiah is thrilled when they find their mate, and I just loved how incredibly meet-cute it was. Also, major props to the author for writing such a lovely non-binary character, and a unicorn at that!
I do kinda wish there had been some sort of low-angst conflict in this story. It's basically Isaiah finds Sam, Sam moves in, befriends the family, heat begins, baby-making commences, HEA. With both Isaiah and Sam having run away from their families, that could have been something done with that maybe.
Definitely stands well on its own; however, I would recommend having read the other two stories since those couples and all the characters are definitely present in this story.
I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.
This story was about knowing each other even if Fate throws you your Mate. It was interesting reading about the inexperience that caused anxiousness and clumsiness. Izzy is amazing and I loved how they managed their pregnancy. And it looks like Cameron's story is finally on the way!
This is actually the first book that I have read by this author and I really loved it! I will definitely be reading more of their books soon especially the first two from this series. This is the third book in the series and its about Sam and Isaiah, who I loved getting to know as they were both amazing characters, and while it is part of a series it can be read as a standalone.
Sam is a Unicorn shifter and lives along in the woods (lumberjack fantasies, anyone?), and he is big and bearded, and ooh so very manly and sexy. When his friend convinces him to meet another one of her friends at a con, he finally gives in never expecting that that friend will be his mate. I loved learning more about Sam and I liked him and thought that he was a great character. He was so wonderful with Isaiah and would so anything for him.
Isaiah is also a Unicorn shifter and they are non-binary and a popular Youtuber. When his friend Charlotte sends him the link to one of Sams videos he is entranced by Sam's voice and when he meets him at the con he is thrilled to find his mate. I loved Isaiah, he was such a breath of fresh air. He had this innocence about him that just drew you to him. I loved his adopted family too! They are the kind of family that would do anything for each other while talking smack to each other while doing it!
The writing was so great and the story flowed really well and I never felt like anything was forced. The storyline was fantastic and I really can't wait for Cameron's story next! I definitely recommend reading this book.
I am so in love with this series. It's such fun to read and enjoy with a great family feel with a lot of interesting characters. Fate's Perfect Tiing gives Isaiah their story as they meet their fated mate. Sam is also a unicorn shifter but otherwise is so very different to Isaiah in home life/looks/personality. They are however a perfect match, instantly knowing they've met their mate but there is so much more than just meeting each other. For each, it's their first in everything and they have to learn each other and how to be in a relationship. It's adorable to read and so easy to fall in love with the characters. Isaiah is non-binary and Toby has written Sam's reaction and questions so well. I was also able to learn from their conversations on the topic. As always, the MC's are surrounded by the Collection of Strays family that is growing quite quickly! There's clearly a lot of love between them all and I love the connection that they have between the siblings, parents, mates and new children. I read all most of this book with a smile on my face and quickly fell in love with Isaiah and Sam, individually and as a couple. I cannot recommend this book and series enough. I'm really looking forward to the next book which brings Cameron front and centre for his own story. I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.
Aww, Sam and Isaiah were adorable and too cute for words. Such a sweet story and I was glad that they found their way together again (even if they didn’t know it) but they both got the time and confidence to become their own person during that time.
I really liked the story but there wasn’t much too it to me. They had previously left their families but seem to have happy lives now, they get together and everything basically goes perfectly.
I received an ARC of this book and am giving an honest review.
*I voluntarily read this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one else's*
3.5 stars
This is the third book in the Collection of Stray Series and can be read as a standalone.
Fate’s Perfect Timing was sweet, sappy and fluffy. Isaiah and Sam were adorable together. They were both clueless when it came to mating yet they slowly learn to pleasure each other.
The family of strays is getting bigger and the ending set the scene for Cameron’s story perfectly.
We discover Isaiah & Sam who finally meet. The author shows them as two awkward virgins inexperienced who awkwardly try to understand the logistics of sexuality. This is followed by a mating ceremony, a quick evolution of the couple, the pregnancy, and the epilogue. We meet Charlotte at the beginning, but she does not surface throughout the book.
If you're looking for a fate mated encounter that includes mating, heat, knot, mpreg, and starts out well, ends well, zero angst and a slight touch of humor then this book is for you.
The family dynamics are always there and it's nice to see them interact with each other. Still recommend but I was expecting more.
The epilogue..... omg , I can't jump in book 4 fast enough. I am totally invested!!!
- an MM shifter romance! non-binary rep, unicorn shifters, fated mates, found family trope! - one word to summarise this whole novella: ADORABLE - like they’re unicorns for goodness sake, can you get anymore cool - absolutely loved their meet-cute! - i kinda love that their first time was a disaster?? more realistic than the first two 😂 - loved Sam meeting the whole family 🥹 - so they were supposed to be mates years ago?? but Izzy ran away?? INTERESTING - honestly they both took that news better than i thought - their bonding ritual was acc beautiful - think it would of been cool to had a third act conflict where their bio families tried to take them home? would of been cool - everyone being salty that Izzy looked amazing while pregnant 😂 - they named their baby Charlie 😭😭 - AND THE EPILOGUE?!? OKAY CHARLIE’S BROTHER GO OFFFFFF - loved this one so much! so frickin sweet
This is the 3rd book in the collection of strays series. Another one of the sibling has found their mate. Isaiah they have been wanting that special bond and love of a mate. When he hears the voice of Sam on Vblog then things really start to heat up. What do best friend do they also try to hook up their beastie with their match. Sam is a character and just love that he did something in his past that he can never forget and now the present is on collision course. i do recommend that you read the book in order so that you can get a history of the family members and will have better understanding of their unusually ways. highly recommend to read today if you love shifters stories
4.5 Stars Oh how I love these books. Especially this series but everything I read of Toby Wise so far was just awesome. I love all of them. His books have low to no drama and are just super cute, full of love and acceptance and they always bring me so much joy. This book was no exception, I had a goofy smile on my face from start to finish. Isaiah is the cutest person and Sam was freakin cute too. In general I love all the characters from this series a lot but I have to say Isaiah has always been one of my favorites and it was so great to sea their dream of finding their mate coming true. There was really not much happening in this but it still made me so happy, how could I not love it.
Isaiah and Sam are beautiful together. They are such a sweet couple. I loved the twist about them (I won’t say anything more hahaha).
I thought both characters were so gentle and caring. In particular, I loved that Sam was so respectful of Isaiah and how they presented. There was never a question - Sam loved Isaiah for who they were without wanting them to change or present a certain way. He didn’t push or demand - he just wanted them to work. I loved that Sam was the way he was, a genuinely good and kind person.
Okay Mr Wise, you got me! I'm now a fan of the cute and sweet. How did you do it? I really didn't know I needed this amount of sweet in my life. Everyone of the characters are sweet in their own way. This I can honestly say is that they are all my favorites, I can't pick. I was smiling the whole time I was reading this and read it all in one sitting. I think this is going to be a reread of a reread for me and a pick me up read. Thank you! Now, on to the next book!
I usually skip books about unicorn shifters because while my brain accepts shifters but it tells me unicorns don’t exist. Ok book review. I like the quotes of all the characters in the beginning of the book, nice touch. This is pretty cute even though there isn’t much of a storyline just basically finding their mates, falling in love, and living happily ever after. An easy and fun read.
These characters just keep getting better and this story seems so simplistic but you never want to put it down. I guess that's what happens when something is well written.
Super cute read about Isaiah who is an omega unicorn and a beauty guru. Who finds his mate a alpha woodworker and falls in love with his voice. This book is just full of awkward cuteness that I really enjoyed reading.
Okay unicorns are pure magic but I feel like Isaiah is their own type of magic. They have the best personality and are the sweetest person ever. I love their and sam’s relationship and their story together. So sweet it’s like the best tooth ache.
This was such a cute and heartfelt story revolving around a family of wonderful strays with Isaiah finding his /their mate, Sam. The writing was excellent and the characters were so fun loving making this a very delightful and entertaining read.
Ugh. These books are just wonderful. Sam and Isaiah were such a soft couple. So much gooey and sexy goodness all in one story. Loved the story of the unicorn shifters as well.
