My hands are stained with the blood of my enemies.
And then I meet Leyla, and realize I need to wash them.

My ship has crash landed on the planet she lives on.
Her people are now in danger because of me.
No matter. I will never allow anyone to harm this precious woman.

She rules my thoughts.
Tortures my dreams.
And races my cybernetic heart.

I can smell her. I can taste her. And I will have her.
Nothing will harm my mate.

And I will burn the galaxy if it does.

Yaal is the first book in the Warriors of the Alliance science fiction romance series within the wider Athenaverse. It can be read as a standalone, but it still shares the same universe and situations you’ve found in other books. Each book features the romance of an alpha male alien warrior and a human woman who doesn’t put up with any nonsense. No cheating, no cliffhangers, and HEA guaranteed.

Athena Storm

Athena Storm is the pen name for two authors who fell in love with writing science fiction romance as they fell in love with each other.

She's the Athena. And he's the Storm. Athena hopes that one day it won't be a boyfriend/girlfriend writing duo, but a husband/wife team. But she's not pressuring at all. Not one bit.

Science fiction is the biggest love for the writing duo, and they've been doing the writing for quite some time now, building a universe that readers can get lost and explore in. Filled with big bad alien warriors, sassy human women who give as well as they get, hilarious situations, and enough steam to melt stars!

The duo have created the Athenaverse, where all books in all series are tied together. You can start anywhere but once you do, you'll want to explore them all!

When they get married, they plan to continue writing science fiction romance forever. But again, no pressure on the marrying part. Not at all. (Not like writing Happily Ever After ALL Day won't give you any ideas on its own, right?)

Misadventures of Yaal🐺🍆⛲🔫🔪 and Leyla💃💋

Is Yaal🐺🍆⛲🔫🔪, the Alzhon Commander of the space vessel🚀, Trident's Fury, more of a Cyborg, or is he an Alpha Alien warrior🐺🍆⛲🔫🔪 with cybernetic enhancements?

After a space battle with the enemy Coalition, in which the Fury🚀 is damaged, they have to crash land on planet Titanius Vox🌎

There he picks up Leyla💃💋, a human woman, daughter of a leader of the Human Confederation. Big Green Yaal🐺🍆⛲🔫🔪 doesn't feel like a cyborg to her!

ARC Received from Booksprout🌱
I also got This book with KU.

I liked the book a lot, it has more of a adventure story than many sci-fi human brides for 👽Alien males Romances. ADULTS only!
There was a huge continuity problem with Leyla. Her name was changed to Layla about halfway through the published book.
At about 38%, the book degenerated into what is basically rather poorly written meaningless erotica. I was disappointed.

Then the author, Storm, went back to the space adventure, which is the better part of the book.
The published book needed a thorough editing. There are many misspellings and wrong words used.

This is the first book in the series and I really liked it. Commander Yaal crash lands on Titanus Vox a planet run by humans. Leyla, the daughter of the leader is given to him as a companion. Her father asks her to spy on Yaal, but as her feelings grow for him, she doesn’t want to do it. Which side will she choose? Fast-paced read with lots of drama and suspense with steamy chemistry. I really liked this sci-fi read and look forward to more in the series.

Commander Yaal crashes his ship on a planet populated by humans and when they leave to go and source part of the critical repairs needed the leader's daughter Leyla accompanies them as a liaison. He might have cybernetic parts but she fills his thoughts and he just cannot resist her. They have their ups and downs but through it all, he knows that she is his and he will do everything to protect her - his mate.

This was an ok story but was a little disjointed at times. I enjoyed some aspects like the final battle, the way she had saved them even though they has suspected her of being a traitor. I was pleased to see that they were together although I wasn't sure that their relationship was formalised just that they loved each other. Contains mature content.

Having already read some of the authors’ books, I think....I hope....this was their first book. I didn’t like it and struggled to finish. Couldn’t get behind the story because of the character of Leyla who I thoroughly disliked. She’s a naive spoiled child and acted worse. Yaal should have put her out the first airlock he encountered. My notes/highlights sum it up. I loved Yaal...just not his taste in women.

Athenaverse warriors series

This is the first story in a new series, but still within the Athenaverse. It is the first story I have read by Athena Storm.

Written for mature readers only (18+ years old) due to subject matter that may be a trigger or offensive to some including adult language, steamy intimate scenes and violence.

The writing and storyline is solid, with minimal grammatical errors, so that is why I gave it 4 stars. I had a hard time connecting with the characters, especially Leyla who I found to be immature, and Yaal because of how stilted he came across. I know both of these were written as such for the storyline, but it still took me a while to get into the story.

Yaal and Leyla

Yaal and Leyla meet on a human planet, he the Commander of a ship needing repairs and she the daughter of the Governor of the planet. The governor volunteers his daughter to travel with Yaal when he requested a tutor about humanity. Her father tries to turn her into a spy, she's hesitant and finally refuses after finding she and Yaal were in love. They are under attack and losing when Leyla calls her father for help. The INC arrives in the Nick of time and they only lose a few ships before the INC arrives and defeats the Coalition. It ends with Zora saying their time would come.

Interesting story.

I know I keep saying this, but if there is a lot of mistakes in the story it does take a way from it. Sentences kind of jump around and you have to struggle to fill it in. Otherwise it was enjoyable. I'll continue the series.

What the crap was this? 🤪😂. It was terrible. An alien with “gentleman-etiquette” which was just wrong. 17th century meet 24th? The language didn’t advance but technology did? 🤨

After engaging in a fight with the Ataxia Coalition enemy, Engineering reports to Commander Yaal that they sustained extensive damage and will have to land somewhere to complete full repairs on their Trident Alliance battle cruiser or get a replacement ship. In their current state, they cannot go after their enemy. The only suitable place with a breathable environment is Titanus Vox, with human inhabitants. Because the humans have not proven themselves as true allies and are technologically inferior, the bridge crew isn’t happy with the Commander’s choice. But he feels the humans will be relieved to have them since the enemy is still close-by, and that it is time they provide actual assistance, not just their spoken pledges.

When the ship landed, everyone on Titanus Vox was excited to see aliens! But by the second day, Layla Coleson was bored. Her father, one of the leaders of the Interstellar Human Confederation, has not given her any responsibilities. So she crashes an important meeting in her father’s office and demands a chance to do something helpful. Instead of arguing with her, he smiles and says he has a special project! The alien Commander requested a human liaison who can teach him about human culture, habits, and society – and Layla would be the perfect companion for him! Layla is practically hostile to him, disliking that he shows no emotion (which he prefers suppressing so that he can function at his best making command decisions logically). So when they are alone, he allows more emotion to show and notices that she relaxes in his presence a little now.

Layla’s father tells her to pack a bag. They found a planet with most of the resources the aliens need to fix the ship, and they are going to fly there to complete repairs. Since Yaal is going to need an ambassador who knows how to speak with humans and Yaal lacks “nuance”, her father is sending her. But she thinks he is not being truthful.

Yaal talks like a logical machine, and she wishes he were more conversational when he speaks. He sounds so formal and she needs to remove that from his speech if he is to work well with the humans on the planet they are going to. Her father furtively watches her, and now she knows he is using her for something. But what? She refuses to be his pawn!

The ship takes off for the journey, but before long, they are fired upon twice by the hostile Odex who are usually looking to steal a ship’s resources. Yaal tells his crew that they do not have enough fuel resources to escape, and tells them to prepare for boarding. Layla was having a difficult time holding back her fear. Yaal motioned her to him and she held his hand while they waited for boarding. Then Layla released his hand and her responses changed – her flight instinct was replaced by her decision to help with the fight. He felt her strong determination. Although they successfully defend against the Odex, Layla’s father wants her to spy on Yaal for him. Her strong urge to please him lets her cross that line, and Yaal discovers her betrayal. Is this the end of any change for them when they had begun to care for each other?

I wouldn’t call this a super-exciting book, but it does show a number of different behaviors and responses that were interesting and made it a worthwhile read. I liked the variety of characters presented. Layla verged on annoying-spoiled-brat much of the time, very unprofessional. She did grow a bit toward the end, but if she is the example an alien first sees, I would be embarrassed to have her representing my species. But again, the story line was good and the slower pace didn’t ruin the story. It’s just not at the top of my list.

I did enjoy the story ~ while it's not a sit on the edge of my seat, can't go to bed until I finish, it has it's moments.
Yaal is an Alzhon commander ~ after sustaining considerable damage after a fight with the enemy they need repairs and land on Titanus Vox which is inhabited by humans. Yaal feels the humans can finally prove their intent to help with the repairing of his ship. while on Titanus Vox he meets Layla Coleson. (I didn't like her character ~ she was a spoiled brat. she's very hostile and aggressive towards Yaal in the beginning. she does "grow up" towards the end of the book but sheesh). her father tells her to pack a bag as she's going to be the ambassador to help Yaal learn more about the human race. Yaal doesn't really show emotion and that is what make him such an excellent commander but it drives Layla insane that he doesn't really show anything ~ he starts to suppress the chip in his brain so that he can show her more which Layla is completely happy with.
the sexy parts are panty melting.
I did have a couple of issues though: the author forgot a few times what she had written and changed a few things a few pages later, which drives me crazy when this happens. when the ship gets attacked by the Odex, there are casualties and then later it's said that there were none... grammar is another thing for me; while it didn't take away from the story, the errors are definitely noticeable
I am off to read the next one...

I have not been reading SciFi for very long, but this is a wonderful example. Yaal is the Commander of a Trident Alliance ship that has suffered some major damage in a firefight with the Coalition. He is a clone and has been enhanced with cybernetics. As such he has access to all kinds of information and the ability to suppress emotions. Lexi is the daughter of the Governor of Titanus Vox, the planet they landed on to make repairs to their ship. Lexi is spoiled and rude. She wants more responsibility within her father's position, but is not taken seriously. Part of that reason may be her spoiled and entitled attitude. She gets her wish for more responsibility when her father assigns her as a companion to Commander Yaal to teach him about humans. She is atrocious and rude in the beginning and I didn't think I liked her until I really looked at it from her her point of view. They will learn more about each other and fight hostile forces. She finally feels like she belongs somewhere and they end up in a battle that looks like their last. Lexi and Yaal are funny at times and frustrating at others. Yaal has the excuse of limited emotions and lack of understanding of the human psyche. I enjoyed this book thoroughly and do recommend it. I requested an advanced reader copy from Booksprout and am under no obligation to leave this review.

Yaal is the Commander of his ship that has been badly damaged from a fight with the Coalition they are unable to fix the ship so Yaal looks for a planet to land he picks Titanus Vox where humans and Titanus live, his crew was excited to meet humans but with Yaal’s cybernetic eyes and computer assisted brain he didn’t feel at all he was able to shut down his feelings about that. Layla watched as the damaged battle star cruiser came into their atmosphere like a shooting star her father would of met them but Layla has been interested in the different species of aliens they fascinate her, but today she is going to march right up to her father and demand that he give her something important to do because she was bored. Well her father had a smile on his face and he said that the Commander wanted a female human liaison so he can learn about human culture and her father said that she was perfect for the job but Layla’s face fell she wanted something more important. Fantastic story I loved it and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series and I highly recommend this book it’s definitely well worth the read.

Yaal is fascinating... not as mortal as he appears at first glance...

It is not simply that Yaal has been mechanically enhanced, add to that he is a clone, and you have a fun twist on the precocious savant/prodigy finding their way in the adult world.

Leyla is a human with Daddy issues, which have possibly created some self-image and self-confidence issues. In Yaal she finds some one who is frustrating on one level, but intriguingly honest and straightforward on another.

Add a war, some political machinations, and of course a few moments when you fear you trusted the wrong person or were played a fool, and this done in one Kindle Unlimited quick read is quite a bit of fun.

There was one or two places where an odd transition had me needing to re-read a little bit to make sure there hadn’t been a continuity error... and a few other places where I was fairly sure there was one. They weren’t so bad they ruined the story, but noticeable enough they disrupted my reading... if I hadn’t enjoyed the characters, and the adventure so much, those continuity errors would have brought this down to three stars.

Allies and lovers together as one!
by sewsummore

Falling for a cloned alien with addition cybernetic enhancements was certainly not on Lesley's radar, instead all she wanted was role to fill and interesting work to do. Then she was asked to become the human liaison to Commander Yaal. He was a strange combination of man and computer, able to supress and bypass emotional responses as required and yet, when he was with Lesley he had no desire to do so. This was a dramatic and inspiring story of love, of devotion to duty and the desires of the flesh. Their attraction to each other was both emotional and educational as they discover more about each other and it ushered in a new partnership between their people as well.

This is a new author to me & I enjoyed reading this intriguing alien sci-fi romance. The main characters are unique & well-developed with a diversity of traits. The well-paced plot is interesting with some unexpected surprises & events.
There is: a new leader (Commander Yaal) of Trident’s Fury crash lands on Titsnus Vox & requests a companion which happens to be a human female (Layla) & she is not to impressed with this situation, various kinds of aliens, humans, clones, alliances, space ships, twists & turns, intrigue, drama, adventure, action, danger, threats, conflict, violence, attempted invasion, battles, manipulations, distrust, attractions, misunderstandings, deceit, unexpected helpful assistance, love, steamy scenes, contentment, happiness & a very interesting epilogue. I look forward to future books from this author.

I gotta be honest. I think I read the blurb wrong in thinking he, Yaal, requested a sexual companion and she, Leyla, was sent to him for that purpose. LOL...how wrong was my thinking. I really enjoy sci-fi romances so I thought I give this new series a try. Not disappointed at all other than the fact I interpreted the blurb wrong. Both characters are interesting, Yaal for how he came to be and Leyla, for her plight to be independent of who she is. Lots of misunderstanding due to their own cultures and interpretation. I do like that Yaal does go out of his way to try to understand things and clear things us. Only problem I had was the fact that Yaal had been in a battle and should be cover in gore and yet they had some sexy time without him cleaning up. LOL. Still very good first book.

This was an interesting, hot and fun read. Interesting because it was only in the last few chapters that I found out that Yaal was actually green skinned - maybe the hot alien on cover should actually be green skinned (just my thinking). The story itself was good, fast paced with a bit of hubba hubba hot sexy time. The herione seems to be a spoiled princess who although she wants to break free of the constraints of her life, doesn't really want to and just follows on with what is requried of her by her father rather than what she wants or feels is right. MAN UP GIRL!

I love that Yaal is so very literal, he's learning as he goes the nuances of being human. Nice easy quick read for a bit of escapism.

To begin with, I did enjoy this book. I enjoyed the main characters, although I wish there was a little more in way of Yaal's description. I could picture Layla in the scenes, but I couldn't picture Commander Yaal. Also, Layla's name was spelled differently in multiple spots throughout the book. Once I got about three or four chapters in the action started to pick up. At first, I had a hard time keeping focused on what i was reading. The battle scenes and the bestial creatures encroachment were my favorite parts of this book. The ending was a nice surprise, i did not expect it to turn out the way that it did! Great job! I'm excited to read the next book of this series!

DNF - quit at 42%
I don't know, the characters just seemed very flat to me, they didn't make me want to read about them, though I stuck it out longer than I intended to. Yaal was almost too robotic to even want to imagine him as a book boyfriend, let alone read about him, and Leyla was all over the place emotionally (mostly just a witch for no good reason), just wasn't believable to read about them becoming a couple on the pages. I just couldn't handle anymore, and had to quit. Needless to say, I won't be continuing with the series.

At my age (approaching 60), life is way to short & my time is to important to force myself to read a book I'm not enjoying, especially when there are so many other books out there waiting to be read.

It was okay

There were MANY inconsistencies in this story. Several times the book went back and fourth on the deaths after one battle, people died and then two pages later no one died. Also- in the beginning of the book the character wanted to study aliens, to help them and work with them and then the second that happens she doesn’t want to do it at all, this all happens within a matter of pages. In the beginning of the book her hair is described as auburn, and then at one point in the book her hair is then described as blonde. Honestly? It feels like either there are two different people writing this book, or the author started it, dropped it, then a year later picked it back up and forgot a lot of her previous writings.

This is a fairly short fast-paced sci-fi romance story that has a lot of action in it. The human female, Layla has trust issues with her alien mate and is also a bit of a daddy’s girl. Yaal is her alien mate and he expects complete loyalty from his mate, but he also has trust issues. They are in the middle of a war so it’s understandable that trust is important between them. The two have a lot of work to do to learn each other’s culture and to learn to trust each other as it’s an arranged marriage rather than one based on love. This is a quick fun read.

An interesting take on aliens! This time Yaal is a modified clone with emotional suppressants when he is introduced to Layla. Layla is the human daughter of the ambassador to the planet Yall arrives at looking for help in repairing his damaged ship. This results in all sorts of misunderstandings while he is also trying to fight other battles
All in all a pretty fluid read with some humour, drama et al - enough to make hearts race! I enjoyed it and look forward to more in the series!

This book was a little slow getting started, but once it did it grabbed my attention and kept me reading, unable to put it down for any length of time. The action keeps building as Leyla and Yaal try to figure out the pull between them and all hell breaks loose around them. All Leyla wants is to be able to help, but no one seems to take her seriously and it causes problems for all. An interesting start to a new series.

I was looking forward to reading this book as this is one of my favorite genres. Then came Layla. She seems very immature and her emotions are all over the place. No wonder her father won’t give her any responsibility. Thank goodness Yaal is an adult!
** Spoiler??** Thankfully, they both develop into someone better than they were in the beginning. She finally realizes she has to take control of herself. He discovers that emotions are okay. They have a happy ever after and an opening for the next book is set.

EMOTIONS RULE BETTER THAN LOGIC

This is a story of human intervention and cloning with cybernetics. Yaal, a computer enhanced brain clone, is a commander of a space battleship; also an alien. He learns to trust his gut and improvise after communicating and relating to humans. He turns off his emotion suppressor and learns that he is capable of loving, Leyla, a human. Emotions lead to misunderstandings and aid from the humans, unexpectedly. There is a HEA, but there is also a cliffhanger.

DNF.

I wouldn't call this an original story, while the premise and concept was interesting....A story I would go Ga-Ga for, this one didn't intrigued me much.
The Hero was certainly very mechanical and I didn't so much get to experience his emotions than being TOLD what happened. The Heroine was sometimes a bit too spoiled for my taste and I just can't see myself finishing this book at all. Sorry.
