As a visual learner , this is helpful to me. And I feel like I can grasp on a concept within 10 minutes, which is efficient because I can learn a lot from this book. I will continue to read the rest of the series!!
The world of management is a unique specialty and contains very important details for everyone who is in the position of management in various fields, and management as a modern concept based on a set of rules, strategies and scientific standards that adhere to it makes a big difference in organizational and institutional work, and every aspect of life has a type of management Such as financial management, risk management, quality, operation and others. The administration enters into the details of our daily work of production and the internal and external relations of governmental and private institutions and bodies except, starting from human resources management and methods of communication between all parties to self-management that uses learning and teaching techniques to obtain the best results.
All the concepts are explained in a friendly language and beautiful illustrations.
Clearly the idea of this book is not to explain in detail each concept, but just to scratch the surface of management. It gives the definition of each concept, visually explains it, provides some interesting facts, and has references if you want to go deeper into the subject.
I think they did a great job at explaining complex topics in just 2 pages, compiling the most relevant concepts for management, doing all the research for the concepts, and the attention to detail that was put into writing this book. This is a very high quality work.
The book can be enjoyed by new and seasoned professionals.
I finally finished this after weeks! It is not a bad book for those who want to know what managers actual do and how they do it. Sometime the ideas are broken down a little too simplistically but it gives the source authors so it can be further researched.

Many of the examples in this book would be useful if you were managing a division in a global business, but I did find overarching themes that were relevant to me as well. Mostly: Your job as the manager is to look at the big picture, act calmly but quickly, and set goals or benchmarks for yourself and your team. Even when I was skim-reading, I think it allowed my brain to think about my work from a different perspective, and I found myself having some ideas to try. Managing is hard for me, and it's not something I necessarily thrive to make the time to learn about on my personal time, but this book was the right mix of general and specific to keep me turning the pages. Even if it did take me two months to do... --- Extreme Book Nerd Challenge - Part of a series (DK books are fabulous, and these "concepts visually explained" are my favorite.)
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
The book covers wide range of related topics to management, and relies heavily on visuals. Every concept is covered in 2 facing pages, which is an appealing idea, I liked it. I was not able to grasp the flow/sequence of the ideas in some of the covered topics, but generally was good. Although the visuals are appealing, but sometimes I feel distracted. Again, this is a side note that doesn't hurt the quality of the content. The book assumes you are reading every 2 facing pages as a one page, which is not suitable for kindle, and you should either read the hard copy or use a wide screen. I liked mentioning the dates of many theories, which helped me creating a timeline of management evolution. The book is for beginners, but not the best if you are a first-time manager, you can read it to get an idea of the topics covered by management, and use it as a reference later.
Lagi tertarik mengulik soal ilmu manajemen.
I found it incredibly bland and boring. It didn’t seem to me to have a lot of depth or nuance - more a management dictionary with pictures. Yes a few helpful tips from time to time, but otherwise a dictionary. These days I imagine a sophisticated Chat GPT analyst could whip this up in a week using ClipArt and Wikipedia.
This is one of those books you can pick up and open to any page. Great, clear graphics illustrate management topics of all aspects. One of the fun ones!
