Bucket to Greece #5

Bucket To Greece Volume 5: A Comical Living Abroad Adventure

Rate this book
Abandoned in a bucket…to new adventures in GreeceThe delightfully comic account of a British couple and their imported cats starting over in a new country continues in Bucket to Greece Volume 5. The Bucket household is full to bursting with family members over for Barry and Cynthia’s wedding. Between entertaining his guests on Pegasus and introducing them to local Greek culture, Victor has his work cut out penning his speech and obsessing over the canapés for the reception at the local village taverna, whilst coping with Cynthia’s bridezilla moments.A first encounter with the local health care system is challenging, Guzim is up to his old tricks, the village finally rids itself of Harold, and the bride and groom aren’t quite sure if the Greek service included the ‘till death us do part’ bit. Hoping to prise more information from Violet Burke regarding his rather dubious paternity, Victor makes an unfortunate leap too far which proves to be a tad too close to home. If you’re a fan of Greek travel and culture then the Bucket to Greece series is a must, with a bucketful of laughs along the way.

I'm loving this series. I like to read the culture clashes that happen when people move to other countries. If you like that kind of thing, I highly recommend 'Almost French' by Sarah Turnbull and 'The Year of Living Danishly: Uncovering the Secrets of the World's Happiest Country by Helen Russell'. Two of my favories. I love the way this author captures the little nuances of the people. You feel that you are getting to know them. You could believe that the author may have been an inspector in his career, but I have trouble with the references to Marigold and her friend being tasters of pet food. If that is really true, it's a new one one me.

This book tied up loose ends. Have loved the series but don’t think there is another book in it. Small village, there are only so many characters you can conjure up. I note there is an attempt to discover another parent but that really is letting the imagination run awry in the real world. There is a sense that these books are a figment of imagination rather than reality and that’s OK but to offer another episode I think a shift of residence to a new village is required unless we are going to live Victor and Marigold’s life through their relatives.

The funniest so far.

I'm getting through these in no time!  I look forward so much to each next installment in the series-great to be back with the Buckets!

These books always make me smile, and chuckle.  Great comfy, cosy, reads.  Such fun.

For me, this was the funniest so far. Builds up steadily to some absolutely hilarious laugh out loud moments.  An absolute hoot!

An addictive, and thoroughly entertaining series.

Yet another great read!

I have enjoyed every one of V.D.Buckets books so far. I love Greece and it's people and can set the scene in my mind and all the different characters. It's a can't put the book down moment over and over again. I look forward to reading the rest in this series and hope he will continue to write similar books.😀

Absolutely enjoying the village life

I've just finished this and can't wait for the next installment. I feel like I know everyone in the village and I'm missing them all already.

Moving to Greece

Experience this great series , well written and humorous . Wonderful descriptions of Greek life, food, and people. The characters are memorable as you read through the books . You have to find out what happens to everyone in the books.

The best so far, along with book 2. Beginning to appreciate why remaining anonymous was so important (the Violet and Milton episode). Really enjoyed the ending - a wedding, a birth, and a big comic misunderstanding revolving around something in Victor’s pocket!
