Mylas Grey is a private investigator but don’t call him a private detective.

That title belongs to his father—not to him.

Mylas is the Chief Investigator for Senator Davis Allen, the chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee. His job is to do background investigations for the President’s judicial nominees, and that’s the only kind of investigation he’s interested in doing.

But then Lizzie, the Senator’s daughter, goes missing from her campus apartment.

And suddenly, just like that, Mylas finds himself back in his hometown of Columbia, Missouri, investigating her disappearance as if he were a run-of-the-mill private detective.

Nothing about the investigation is easy.

Discovering a motive isn’t easy . . .

Lizzie has a reputation for doing the unexpected, and she could have just left town for a few days without telling anyone. On the other hand, she could have done something stupid and gotten herself into serious trouble.

Staying focused on the investigation isn’t easy . . .

When Mylas meets a beautiful photographer at his brother’s church, and she offers to help him find Lizzie, he finds himself getting a little distracted from the investigation—well, maybe more than a little distracted.

Revisiting his past isn’t easy . . .

As Mylas is forced to spend time in his hometown, he begins to question his career choice, his rejection of Christianity, and his failed personal relationships.

Solving the mystery of Lizzie’s disappearance isn’t easy . . .

It gets even more complicated when Mylas learns Lizzie was researching an article for her campus newspaper about a judge with a secret past. Is the judge connected to Lizzie’s disappearance? Did Lizzie’s boyfriend play a role? What about Lizzie’s roommate?

So many suspects. So little time.

Book I in the Mylas Grey Mystery Series is a clean, suspenseful, fast-paced mystery, involving complex relationships, a fledgling romance, and a man’s search for happiness in all the wrong places.

If you enjoy an engaging, multilayered mystery with a vulnerable, endearing hero, someone who will make you cry one minute and laugh the next, you’ll love this book!

I’ve long admired Luana Ehrlich’s books with Titus Ray and set in the Middle East, and the first book in her new series featuring Mylas Grey is a great addition. Mylas is a character that stays with you long after you finish the book. And I love the cover!

I liked Mylas right off the bat. Even though he worked for a senator, he was his own man. I liked that sometimes he asked forgiveness rather than permission. Mylas has a strict code of honor and he doesn’t like to fail. When the book opens, he isn’t anti-Christian and he doesn’t have a beef with God. He simply ignored Him. I don’t have to tell you how that’s going to turn out.
One Day Gone is a classic mystery with a missing person. Ehrlich lays out the clues and if you’re paying attention, you can solve the crime right along with Mylas. To me, what makes this book special is the conversational tone, and how the reader is drawn into the story. It’s like I became a part of the story. The romance doesn’t interfere with the mystery and happens naturally.
If you like mysteries and a little romance with your mystery, I think you’ll love ONE DAY GONE.

I like mysteries. This was a mystery. I am leery of mysteries by unknown authors. This was a Christian author. I am leery of Christian Fiction. (Only because sometimes it is poorly written) But it was free. I gave it a try. I am glad I did.

I easily got hooked as I read through the first chapters. I was pleasantly surprised by this book. It had a good story. It was believable. It was funny. It was tense. I will definitely be looking into book two.

One Day Gone is a great read. It's a clean mystery about Myles Grey who is the chief investigator of a senator. He normally investigates judicial nominees. When the senstor's daughter Lizzie disappears, he is sent to Columbia, Missouri, to find her.
I enjoyed getting to know Myles, Whitney, and the rest of the characters. I enjoyed the journey of how Myles became a believer. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Once again, Luana Ehrlich's excellent writing style gives life to an enthralling mystery that I could hardly put down. I have always admired the straightforward, realistic bent of her writing, and this book is no exception. Her details about the inner-workings of the Washington D.C. offices at play make you feel like you are there in the room with the characters, working through the clues and developments as they come. I particularly liked the character of Mylas Grey and his sense of directness and humor. I look forward to reading more mysteries involving Mr. Grey and would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good puzzle to solve. Ms. Ehrlich's approach to the faith issues covered in the story is relatable and delivered in a though-provoking way. Congratulations on another fine novel.

A good mystery in which Mylas Grey, a chief investigator on Capitol Hill finds himself tasked with tracking down the missing daughter of his boss, a high-profile Senator. It was pretty straightforward mystery, but told very well and in a way that pulled me along. I really like her characterizations. Although I like her Titus Ray series better (so far), I really liked this.

Christian contemporary mystery. First in a series, but there is a prequel which, while not necessary to read prior to book one, makes everything in One Day Gone make more sense. The main character, Mylas Grey, is a lawyer who currently works as an investigator for a U.S. Senator. Mylas does deep dives into judges who are up for appointment to federal courts. Sometimes the secrets that he discovers are dangerous.

The author is a retired missionary so the story is quite evangelistic. I loved it, but it might not be another reader’s cup of tea.

I love a good Christian series, and I was really looking for ward to reading this one. Unfortunately it came off a little on the flat side for me. The suspense was marginal, and the ending a bit too predictable. NMW

One Day Gone was such a fantastic listen! This is my first audiobook by this author and in this genre, and I'm pleased to say that I love both and I'll definitely keep looking for more work by Ms. Ehrlich as well as more Christian Suspense.

I loved the character of Mylas Grey and how he was far from perfect. He's living his career dream but he's also had to make some questionable choices in order to get the answers he needed for his investigation. His love for his family really shone through, and he's definitely blessed to have them. I liked how his background is one of the first things presented to the reader, and then, slowly, the secondary characters are introduced (from his work colleagues to his family and possible love interest).

As for the suspense/mystery, I think it was well done, and really enjoyed getting to see him in action (after having heard so much about how good he was in his job). I also liked that not everything fell neatly into place (making him figure everything out in one day), but rather he faced some challenges and with how to get the next piece of information.

In regards to faith, I liked how everything was presented, especially knowing that Mylas is an unbeliever from the beginning. Thus, I wouldn't call this book preachy at all, but that's my own opinion.

Finally, I'd like to say that the narrator did a great job with all the voices. While it took me a bit to get used to this book being in first-person POV, that only lasted a couple of minutes, and then I found myself enjoying this audiobook. I have no complaints in regards to the female voices or anything of the sort. He nailed every single one (seniors, angry judges, teenagers, middle-agers, you name it).

Overall, this is a great Christian Suspense listen/read, and I'll definitely be checking out more of this author and this series (can't wait to see how his work relationship with Charlie develops!). ~ 5 stars and completely recommended :)

More than a mystery...

I love a great mystery. This one was quite a pleasant surprise though. It is rare to read a book from a genre like this and have the backstory take precedence in my mind. Sure there are many crime/suspense/thrillers that have a budding romance woven into the story. Most often they tend to overtake the real story. I don't mind a good love story but..sometimes I think the romance goes way too far.. As for this book...the story, the characters and the faith they shared was awesome. I would think that putting Christ in a crime novel would be challenging. Challenging to have both coexist and not sound corny or boring. Neither was true for me. I thought it was well written. I say...Christ goes good with everything. Way to go on working the plan of salvation into the story. That was truly brilliant. I'm looking forward to reading more books by this author.

One Day Gone!

Wonderful mystery with romance and an inspirational message that kept me turning the pages. This is a new series from a beloved author of mine who writes the Titus Ray spy thrillers. While this is very different, because this is more mystery than thriller, the writing is still Ehrlich original! There are also similarities because the hero is flawed and recognizes he isn't perfect and needs a Savior. There is also a sweet love interest and a younger mentee he has just acquired. All these add up to make a wonderful new series that I am very excited about. Keep the books coming Mrs. Ehrlich.

This is a great start to a new series. Mylas Grey is bright and engaging character. He is a federal Investigator for a Senator Davis in Washington, DC. The Senator sends him on a private investigation when his daughter goes missing. This sends him back to hometown in Columbia, Missouri, where his family still lives. There he meets Wendy, who offers to help him in his investigation, and he questions why he rejected Christianity. The investigation is frustrating, but when Mylas stumbles upon the truth, the climax is very intense. Narrator Steve Twitchell is engaging and charming in the role of Mylas Grey. This is series not to be missed.

Superb!

Mylas Grey is used to investigating people's background. But when the senator asks him to find his missing daughter, Mylas feels out of his element. As he starts putting together a plan, he finds out that the judge he was already investigating may be part of the puzzle.
Luana Ehrlich writes excellent mystery and adventure. As a Christian, I enjoyed the fact that her books are also clean and have a Godly message.

Another great read from Mrs. Ehrlich!! I am looking forward to finding out how Mylas next adventure plays out. I guess we will have to wait over a year (no pressure, well, maybe a little). I can see this series being a winner!

Mylas Grey is the Chief Investigator for Senator Davis Allen. He usually investigates judicial nominees until the Senator’s daughter Lizzie goes missing. Back in his hometown of Columbia, Missouri, Mylas searches for Lizzie and begins to question his career choice, his rejection of Christianity, and his failed personal relationships. He also meets a beautiful photographer who might help him solve the case.
Book I in the Mylas Grey Mystery Series is a clean, suspenseful mystery. I instantly liked Mylas Grey and cheered for his success.
The plot does move quickly except in places where the author explains background information. In those spots, the story slows to a crawl.
Readers will hear the gospel message at least three times and learn more about discipleship. While I appreciate this content, it can be a bit redundant.
Luana Ehrlich is a good writer. I’m excited to read more books by her!

The Senator's Daughter is Missing
This is the first book in a series about a US Senator's Private Investigator. The story takes off with a bang! We are introduced to the characters that make this series work and the important locations in both Missouri and our Nation's Capitol. It is a fast-moving story that kept my interest so well that it was hard to put the book down. As with all of this author's work, this is a clean and action-packed story. There is no foul language, no sex, no gore, and minimal violence. The story is also faith-filled. Many of the main characters are strong Christians. Our hero accepts Christ as his Savior in this book, so I am certain future stories will delve into his baby steps as a Christian. It does not 'beat them over the head with the Bible', but it does discuss Christianity in a practical and day-to-day manner. I am off to read book 2 and will likely binge-read the series.

The fact that this is the beginning of a new series is the reason I deducted a star. In laying down the background on Mylas Ms Erlich was extremely detailed and the book moved very slowly at times. I almost gave up on it. Once it got moving it was a good mystery with a little romance and some gospel. Mylas works for Senator Allen as Chief Investigator. Normally he investigates judicial nominees but this time he is looking for the Senator’s daughter Lizzie who has gone missing. The characters are likable and very well developed. You can definitely tell the author is a minister’s wife as she details Mylas’s path toward Christ in the midst of the investigation. This is done well, not in a “preachy” manner. I enjoyed the book and look forward to more in this series. I listened to the audiobook and it was well done

Maybe I’m just spoiled reading mysteries from Agatha Christie, but for a novel, this didn’t keep me in the edge of my seat at all. There was a lot of telling and little showing, a LOT of repetition (whenever Mylas updated someone on the case, we heard almost all the details all over again), and the Christianity felt forced. One thing I did appreciate was that things felt well researched. An investigator who specializes in checking out judges? Interesting job I’ve never thought about. Probably this is how most investigations go—a lot of phone calls and dry repetitive conversations, but I admit that I expected more from a novel…or maybe less—less telling, less repetition, etc.

A Great Series Opener

This first book of the Mylas Grey mysteries is wonderful. I really
look forward to the exciting reading adventure.

The character development of this book opens the door for you to join in as a cast member. You a part of a wonderful group and will feel a close friendship being developed. It is a great tribute to read novels with clean stories with out foul language, graphic violance or sexual overtones. My personal life is just a wholesome as the life portrayed inthe book. I know and experience the good that can still be shared in a world such as we live in.

I hope you can experience the peace shared in Luana's stories. My prayers are that you will.

One Day Gone (Mylas Grey Mystery #1), my first read from author Luana Ehrlich. Reminiscent of Blair Howard’s Harry Starke books (that’s a compliment to both authors. Well-written and enjoyable, edge-of-your-seat investigative fiction. I was given an Audible copy of this book in January of this year and am voluntarily reading & reviewing it, Narrator Steve Twitchell's narration made the book fly by. As a believer, I particularly enjoyed the Christian sub-plot I look forward to Two Days Taken: Mylas Grey Mysteries, Book 2. (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018)

I love, love, love this series! Not sure how I stumbled across this book and author but thrilled that I did. Enjoyed the author's voice in the main character of Mylas Grey. Loved the setting as he toggled back and forth between Columbia, MS, and Washington D.C. Particularly liked the spiritual thread woven through like an exquisite fabric. Clean. Fun. Interesting read. Gobbled first three books of this series in three days, and the only reason I stopped was so I didn't catch up and have nothing left. Looking forward to more. Keep writing, Ms. Ehrlich!

Missing Daughter

Mylas Grey worked for the senator of Missouri as an investigator. One day Senator Allen's daughter, Lizzie went missing and Mylas was assigned to search for her. Mylas soon learned that she was a secretive and daring person. Lizzie was also a reporter for her college's newspaper. She was doing an article on a local judge in the city of Columbia. Mylas began to wonder if that some connection with her disappearance. I was intrigued by the setting of the story since I lived in Columbia for six months. Also my curiosity involving the plot kept me interested.

Interesting characters

Entertaining plot. Mylas Grey, a PI for a DC senator is tasked with finding the senator's missing daughter. She's missed her college classes & hasn't been heard from by her roommate, boyfriend or her family. An issues which I had with the plot: Mylas & a colleague have a meeting in a courthouse. They both have concealed carry permits & are allowed to keep their weapons after disclosing them to the guard. All courthouses with which I am familiar would never allow this.

This review is for the audible book. This is quite the mystery of what happened to the Senator's daughter. One day present, the next day missing. Mylas has his hands full figuring out the mystery. The ending was a surprise to me. I've not listened to a male voice like Mr. Twitchell. It took a little while for me to get used to it. I am anxious to read the next book in the series. I received a free copy of the audiobook from the author. This is my voluntary review.

Mylas Grey is chief investigator for a senator on the Senate Judiciary Committee. Normally he is in charge of vetting nominees for federal judgeships. But when the senator's daughter goes missing, he is sent to Columbia, Missouri, to find her. The assignment takes him outside his comfort zone and also prompts him to confront unresolved issues in his life.

This book has kind of a stereotypical "Christian novel" plot, but it's well told and engaging.

Home to Columbia

I've become addicted to these thriller books by Luana Ehrlich. The stories grab me on the first page and just don't let go until the end. She deals with real life situations such as crime and/or even national security in some of her books. There is always faith in God, prayer and the Bible in a natural way. Another common theme is family. Sometimes even romance. Don't miss out on any one of the great stories!

Honest Man Meets Confident Woman

I liked that this book was real. But I mean it could easily happen the way it’s written, but it kept my attention, and I couldn’t put it down. Nyla’s is open like few guys are. And Whitney sounds like every guy’s dream of the kind of woman to spend your life with, enjoying each other and strengthening each other. I think you will enjoy this book immensely. I did!

“One Day Gone” by Luana Ehrill is the first book in the Mylas Grey series. This is a fabulous, clean, Christian-fiction mystery.

The characters are believable and there is information about how investigations are handled for Federal court nominees. The story is fast-paced - keeping the reader wanting more.

4.5 stars….I recommend this book to others. I would like to read more in this series, too.

I received this e-book as a Goodreads Giveaway. Thank you to the author and the publisher.
