Tanner has lusted after Sophie since he started pubity as he puts it. Sophie is invited to a Valentine's day party . Only thing is her x will be there with his new girlfriend. So Sophie needs a date. Good thing Tanner just moved back to town. Very cute and lots of joy sex
With Book 2 in 'The Dating Series', McLaughlin and Dover bring the readers a quick sweet Best Friends Younger Brother trope set around Valentine's Day.
This is one trope that I've rarely read about so that was a nice change. I loved the connection and romance that was present between Tanner and Sophie and it was very much visible. I liked this one a little more than A Date for Midnight.
Overall, this series just leaves you wanting more from the couple and you hope that this was more of a short story than just a novella.
When Sophie finds out her ex has been cheating on her, her best friend decides the thing to do is have her brother be Sophie's gorgeous date to the Valentine's ball that, of course, her cheating ex will be attending with the woman he cheated with. Back when they were younger, Sophie never paid much attention to Tanner, Ellie's younger brother, but now? He's all grown up and all man. A man she wants to enjoy rubbing in her ex's face. A man she wants to rub up against too...
This is sweet, hot and short. Tanner is adorable and sweet, not a playboy jerk or alpha hole, just a lovely, gorgeous guy who has been crushing on his sister's friend forever, and now has her right where he's always wanted her - in his heart, in his bed.
Valentine’s Day is supposed to be the best day ever for couples right? Well, not for Sophie Peterson when she discovers her boyfriend has been cheating with his dental hygienist!! Stuck dateless to the upcoming Valentine’s party her friend sets her up with her brother, Tanner Hayes. Can Sophie try to have a good time and ignore her ex who will be there too? Maybe Tanner is just the one she needs to start fresh. A fun novella about finding love when you least expect it. I really enjoyed this sweet and short romance. Told in dual POV
A Date With An Admirer is the second book in Heidi McLaughlin and L.P. Dover's The Dating Series. I'm starting to really love this novella type series! I'm loving the swoon and the sweet n' sexy vibes.
This novel is set around Valentine's Day.
Sophie just caught her boyfriend of five years in the arms of his dental hygienist. Now she's stuck in a rut and can't find her way out of the sadness. What's worse than all that is the Valentine's Day Gala that lurks right around the corner and the invitation states couples only.
That's where Tanner comes in to play. Tanner is the younger brother of Sophie's best friend and he has had a lifelong crush on the woman. So when his sister asks him to take Sophie to the Valentine's Day Gala to get back at the ex-boyfriend, Tanner finds it difficult to say no.
My Thoughts:
If you're looking for a quick sweet romance, don't hesitate to pick this novel up! I love Best Friend's younger sibling romances. Whether it be younger brother or younger sister I'm all in! But I do have to say, It's a rare siting to see a best friend's younger brother romance. I was pleasantly surprised with this outcome. I loved the emotion that was packed into this short read. The connection and chemistry between Tanner and Sophie burned bright. From the start, I was cheering these two on.
My only complaint would be the simple fact that I wanted more from these two. The ending moment felt a tad bit rushed. I wasn't ready to see their story end.
In less than 100 pages, theses 2 authors have made me laugh, blush and fall in love with their characters. Sophie has broken up with her boyfriend of 5 years after he cheats on her. Elli, her best friend, goes to her house to cheer her up. There, she sees an invitation to a gala on Valentine’s Day. Sophie does not want to go bc her ex will surely go with his new flirt, but Ellie convinces her to go and to take her hot brother as her date. Tanner has been in love with Sophie since high school, and when his sister asks him to do her the favor of taking Sophie to the gala to make Sophie’s ex jealous, he gladly accepts. ❤️❤️❤️❤️the book.
“What exactly do you want from me? Do you want it to look like we’re together?”“Would that be okay with you?”“If you want this to be believable, we might have to practice.
“Let’s see, there’s the coat room. The bathroom. Or we can drive out to the airport, put the doors up and you can let me fuck you in the Lambo.”🔥🔥🔥
“Stay with me tonight.” I want more than just the night, but I can’t allow myself to have those feelings. It’s just sex, that’s it. I don’t want complications. Been there, done that. There was too much at stake getting close to Tanner. “Okay,” I murmur, “but tomorrow we go back to our normal lives. That’s the deal.” Tanner licks his lips and focuses on my breasts. “Whatever you say, Soph.” The second he kisses me, I can’t think of anything else besides his mouth on my body. It doesn’t matter how good it feels or what kind of feelings I’m starting to have for him. When the sun comes up, I’m gone.
A Date with an Admirer is the brainchild of LP Dover and Heidi McLaughlin. Sophie and Tanner will take you on a whirlwind romance filled with friendship, sweetness, intense chemistry and finding someone you never thought you needed ! Sophie is coming out of a cheating relationship and needs a date to a gala that her ex will certainly be attending. Her best friend suggests her brother is in town and so available to help. Tanner has always held a torch for Sophie but being a bit younger and awkward he was not confident to throw his hat in the ring but that is about to change. Tanner is all grown up and knows exactly what and who he wants now it is just a matter of showing Sophie that he is the man she needs and wants! ~~Michele McMullen ~~
Escapism at it's sweetest. McLaughlin and Dover make a great team. A Date with an Admirer gives the heart what it wants. A reason to feel good. That's something we all need in these times of uncertainty. Tanner and Sophie made an instant impression. From flirty sex appeal to heartwarming fun. Admirer gives as good as it gets.
A DATE WITH A ADMIRER by Heidi McLaughlin and LP Dover is a contemporary, adult, stand alone, erotic, romance novella in the authors DATING SERIES. This is twenty-six year old, architect Tanner Hayes , and twenty-seven year old dentist Dr. Sophie Petersons story line.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Tanner and Sophie) A DATE WITH AN ADMIRER follows the best friends younger brother trope. Sophie Peterson recently broken up with her long time boyfriend after discovering he had been having an affair with his dental hygienist. Needing a “plus-one” for the Valentines Day ball, Sophies best friend Ellie suggests her younger brother Tanner, a “boy” Sophie remembers as nothing more than a gangly teen. Tanner had recently lost his job in California and returning to North Carolina meant the opportunity to start anew but Tanner never expected to reconnect with his childhood crush, his sisters best friend, and the woman with whom Tanner will fall in love. What ensues is the quick building relationship between Tanner and Sophie, and the potential fall-out as Sophie struggles with the best friend little brother conundrum .
A DATE WITH AN ADMIRER is a quick read that focuses on a few days in the life of twenty-six year old, architect Tanner Hayes , and twenty-seven year old dentist Dr. Sophie Peterson. Sophie never promised anything beyond their one night together but Tanner was hoping for something more. The fast paced premise is engaging; the romance is passionate and seductive; the characters are colorful and charismatic. A DATE WITH AN ADMIRER is the perfect read for a lazy, sunny afternoon or when one is isolated from family and friends.
Tanner has had feelings for his sister’s best friend since he was a teenager but she never returned the feelings. After being away for a number of years he has recently returned home for his career so when his sister asks him to escort Sophia to a gala he is more than happy to agree.
With her cheating ex-boyfriend attending the gala with his new girlfriend showing up alone is an embarrassment Sofie would rather avoid. When her best friend offers her brother Tanner as date material she can’t believe the man he has turned into.
The chemistry between them is off the charts but it may just take her matchmaking best friend Ellie to convince Sofie to take a chance on what she could have with Tanner. Sweet and sexy I enjoyed Tanner and Sofie’s story and Ellie was a great addition to the story.
A Date with an Admirer book two in The Dating Series but it can be read as a standalone. This one is short quick read. I probably could have read it in one sitting but I had to put it down at 68% to go do life stuff. I loved this one. Sophie is an interesting character. She's a dentist and has just broke up with her boyfriend. She's a very relatable character. I loved that she put her ex's stuff in his front yard, I had a friend who did that with her ex too. Sophie's best friend is Ellie. Ellie has a brother Tanner. Ellie suggests Sophie take Tanner to a Valentine’s Day bash. Tanner is cool guy. He's changed a lot since the last time Spohie has seen him. These two have great chemistry. Just when I thought everything was going good there's wrench thrown in but I never stopped rooting for them.
This was such a cute novella! He has always wanted her. Always. Too bad he was a pimple faced skinny boy back when they knew each other. Fast forward nine years and Tanner is back in town from living in California just in time to be Sophie’s Valentine’s date. Did you mention he is now successful and hot??? This leads to one steamy night! Can these two turn one night into more??? I highly suggest you read this one to find out! It’s well written and had me laughing a few times.
A Date with an Admirer had me laughing from beginning to end. I loved Tanner and Sophie’s story so much, that when I finished I immediately wanted to read it again! When Sophie is left without a date Tanner, he best friends younger brother, is more than willing to step in. But what happens when Tanner wants more than what Sophie is willing to give? In this amazing novella told from both Tanner and Sophie’s point of view, romance and humor fills the pages of a blooming relationship between a a woman and her best friends younger brother.

I’d like to thank the authors for providing this ARC for an honest review.
I’m loving the Novellas! Sometimes you need a real quick fun read and this was perfect.
This is a best friends brother romance. Sophia just went through a bad breakup and is invited to a couples only Valentine’s Day party at the Governor’s house. Her ex will be there with his new girlfriend and Sophia needs a date for the party. Her best friends brother, Tanner, who has recently moved back to town and has pined over Sophia for years agrees to be her date.
The romance progressed pretty fast... which I had to remind myself that it’s a novella and is supposed to.
When a week before Valentine's Sophie catches her boyfriend cheating she wants nothing more than to ignore him but she has to do the exact opposite. Entering in hwr best friends little brother Tanner who has a major crush on her and it turns inti fun times. These two are awkwardly cute at first but you definitely know the chemistry is there. When Sophie calls halt thinking it will ruin her friendship you know its not gonna last the pull is to strong. This was a fun, quick read that didn't disappoint
When Sophie. Arches her boyfriend cheating she automatically wants to hide! But we all know a best friend helps plan the revenge enter Ellie who knows the crush her little brother Tanner had on Sophie as a kid! Will it strictly be just for acts or could there be something about him that Sophie never noticed?!
This is actually a really quick, cute escape. With the short length the authors chose to concentrate entirely on the sex. That was really disappointing because if we had been allowed to see the emotions grow this would have been a pretty perfect little getaway.
This series of novellas is EVERYTHING to me at the moment. The authors are able to develope the characters and the romance so well in a 100 pages. This one was the perfect fake boyfriend trope read, highly recommend.
I read an ARC of the first novella in this series and I really enjoyed it, so I was excited to read this novella! I knew that this novella was going to be a complete standalone, but this had me even more excited to read it! I received an ARC of it and read it as soon as I could! After reading this novella, I can say that I enjoyed this one just as much as the first one! The plot developed at a fast pace and it only took me a few sittings to read! I loved that the plot had a lot of romance in it because it allowed for a few seriously hot scenes! There wasn't any action or suspense in the plot, but I wasn't expecting any because I knew that the main focus was going to be romance! The romance was definitely enough to keep me wanting to read on and I really enjoyed the way the plot developed! The ending of this novella was also left at the perfect place for the characters and summed up their story! The characters were also amazing and made this novella even better! Sophie was the main female character, and in this novella I felt sorry for her because she had been cheated on by her ex-boyfriend and she was trying to get her own back in this novella! Sophie definitely accomplished that lol! I really liked Sophie and I could understand why she was hesitant to start something with her love interest, but she deserved to be happy and in a good, loving relationship! Tanner was the main male character and love interest of Sophie! I loved Tanner a lot in this book! He had a good job and he had come back to his hometown to settle! This meant that he reconnected with Sophie! I felt like Tanner was open with Sophie and he expressed how he really felt about her! It was easy to see that he had never stopped loving her as well and I loved the interactions between Tanner and his sister Ellie! I loved that this novella was written from both Sophie and Tanner's point of views! I was expecting it to be because the first novella was written from both characters point of view! The synopsis gives the impression that it might only have been written from the female character's point of view! I'm really happy that Tanner's point of view was in there too because it helped me connect more with both characters and see how they really felt about each other! It allowed for a few more things to happen in the plot as well! I now can't wait to read the next novella in this series! I know that it's going to be another standalone novella, which has me excited to find out what's going to happen in it! It also releases next month, which isn't long of a wait at all! I'll definitely be reading it as soon as it releases and the synopsis sounds intriguing! I also love the cover for this novella a lot! It's really cute and suits the feel of the book! I love how well it suits the cover for the first novella and it would draw me to the if I didn't already know the authors names! Big thank you to Heidi and L.P. Dover for an ARC of A Date with an Admirer!
This book is about a woman named Sophie that finds out that her boyfriend his cheating on her so she dumps him. Needed a date to a Valentine ball where her ex will be her best friend suggests that she go with her brother Tanner. They haven't seen each other in years but will they discover something beautiful between them?
I liked this book Sophie was a fun character she loves her life but she obviously wasn't happy about her boyfriend cheating on her and dumps him. She's not going to go to the Valentine's ball but her best friend Ellie convinces her to go with her brother. When she finds out that he's grown up to be pretty handsome she agrees.
Ellie was hilarious her interactions with both Sophie and Tanner was soo funny. She seems like a really good friend and sisters.
Tanner is back in town and he's always had a crush on Sophie but doesn't think she'll give him the time of day when Ellie pleads with him to take her to the Valentine ball he agrees because he's always had feelings for her.
They have a great time at the ball and have some sexy time after that is super hot! I needed a fan they were so on fire! Afterwords there's some miscommunications before they end up agree to be a couple.
I really enjoyed this book and would recommend it if you like story about best friend's siblings. Although I've read falling in love with my best friend's sister stories I don't know if I've ever read one when it's falling in love with my best friend's brother stories so that's kind of a switch but it was a fun quick read.
Sophie is trying to move past her breakup with her dirtbag ex who left her for the dental hygienist. A Valentine's Ball is right around the corner and she needs to find a date to show her ex and his "new love" that she's doing just fine. Her best friend, Ellie, has the perfect solution for her, and that's to take her younger, seriously hot brother as her date. Coincidentally, Tanner, has had a long-time crush on Sophie, and he's not going to waste the opportunity to show her a great time. Just maybe, she'll be able to see that he's right for her. In the back of her mind, Sophie's conflicted because she doesn't see much hope for a future with him because he's her best friend's brother. If something goes wrong, she's sure that their friendship will blow up! But for tonight, she's going to enjoy being with him and their night is sweet, sexy and steamy, but when the morning comes, she's disappeared. He tries to be understanding, but she's not having it because she's still worried that Ellie will be upset with her. She wastes a lot of time arguing with herself, and I just want to slap her and tell her to get over herself! When big sister steps in and has "the talk" with both of them. it gives them the chance to work it out if they can. This series is so enjoyable and each one is entirely different, but the result is a sweet HEA. The ending was a little rushed, but it didn't take away the enjoyment of this novella. Amelia Mendez does a wonderful job with the narration. Her dynamic, well-modulated voice brought each character to life.
Sophie, the dentist, has an invitation to the Governor’s Couples-Only Valentine’s Day ball with no date and her ex-boyfriend Warren will be there with the bimbo he dumped her for the week before Valentine’s Day. Never fear, her best friend Ellie has just the man to make Warren jealous. After 10 years in California, Ellie’s brother Tanner has returned to North Carolina to work at a local architectural firm. And boy does he make a tux look sexy.
Tanner’s sister is a pain in the butt, but when she asks him to be Sophie’s date for the ball, he jumps at the chance. You see, he has had a crush on her since he was fourteen years old, but he’s not the boy he was back then. He’s handsome, confident, and willing to do anything to make the beautiful Sophie happy.
Tanner goes all out to impress Sophie and make sure they get noticed by Warren at the ball. Even going as far as renting a yellow Lamborghini. After a night with Tanner, Sophie is very attracted to him, but she’s worried about jeopardizing her friendship with Ellie. Can Tanner make her change her mind?
This is a fast-paced romantic novella that will leave you breathless and smiling. If you like romance with a secret admirer, give this one a try.
Thank you to Ms. McLaughlin and Ms. Dover for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.
After a few heavy/angst filled reads recently, I was looking for something a little lighter and A Date with an Admirer delivered!
Sophie is just moving on from a breakup, and she needs to find herself a date to the Valentine's Ball that her cheating dirtbag ex will be attending with the woman he decided was better than Sophie. So her best friend comes up with the perfect solution: ask her exceedingly hot Chris Hemsworth lookalike brother Tanner to be Sophie's date.
Growing up, Tanner had a huge crush on Sophie but she never really paid much attention to him. Now the gangly teen with acne has grown into a fully bulked up man with surfer boy good looks and charm that leaves her speechless when she opens the door. He has no intention of letting the opportunity to finally be with the woman of his dreams pass him by, and he pulls out all the stops to make her see he is worth taking a chance. What follows is a lot of sweet, sexy and occasionally steamy fun with only minor conflict. (Seriously- I don't even want to know which of the two authors cooked up that hilariously disgusting reason behind their missed communications because I was torn between laughter and gagging.)
Anyhoo, this series has been enjoyable so far and I am looking forward to seeing what comes our way in the next installment!
It’s one week before Valentine’s Day, and Sophie’s doing something she never thought she’d be doing. Boxing all her cheating scum of an ex’s stuff. She still has to face him and the woman he cheated on her with at a Valentine’s Day event. When Sophie’s BFF Ellie suggests Sophie takes Ellie’s younger brother Tanner, Sophie’s not too impressed. She remembers him as the lanky, geeky kid with glasses. When Ellie shows Sophie a picture of what Tanner looks like now, Sophie sees just how much Tanner changed while attending college in CA. When Ellie approaches Tanner about taking Sophie, he acts reluctant, but he and Ellie both know he’d do anything to be near Sophie. The crush he had on her when he was younger hasn’t really gone away. Tanner takes this opportunity to be near Sophie, while also playing along with the “couple” act. I thoroughly enjoyed this story. I absolutely loved the chemistry between Tanner and Sophie, and was glad Ellie stepped in at the end. I loved the story, the writing, and the characters. One of my favorites for the year. This is a novella, so it won’t take long to read, but boy oh boy, you’re going to want to read if your fans of insta-heat, insta-romance, and witty writing.
What is the worst that can happen during Valentine's week? Well for Sophie it is getting dumped and now on a pity date. The thing is that after years of not seeing her best friend Ellie's brother Tanner it feels like they have never been apart. He used to be the geeky brother but man the years have been good for him. She knows she is coming of desperate at this point but one kiss from Tanner is making her see that this is no pity date. She should not be feeling anything but friendly feelings towards him but he sure can kiss in a way she hasn't felt in a long time. Tanner has been waiting all his life for Sophie and man when they come together watch out. He always knew the connection was there but one kiss from her ignites a fire he hasn't felt in a long time. L.P. Dover and Heidi McLaughlin just created a book with tons of sexual tension but a woman seeing that there can be a happy ending after Valentines week. These two talented authors created something sweet, hot and just give you a feeling that all will be right.
"I received an eBook copy from the publisher for the purpose of an honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own."
Sophie and Tanner's story was really cute! Tanner has had a crush on Sophie since she was always around his house growing up and has been BFF's with his sister, Ellie, for years. Tanner has just moved back from California and is tasked with taking Sophie to a Governor's Ball on Valentine's Day. Sophie has just ended a 5 year relationship after she discovered her ex had been cheating on her. She is surprised by the new Tanner and is quick to get on board with him taking her to the Ball. What should have been a magical evening and the start of something new, didn't work out very well. It was interesting to see Sophie try and explain her thoughts when she didn't even know if there would be any issues at all. Tanner was just trying to get Sophie to see they could be something great if she just gave him a chance. I liked how Ellie stepped in and got things situated quickly. The ending was good and fit in with their story.
A Date with an Admirer by Heidi McLaughlin and L.P. Dover is the perfect blend of fun, romance, and a touch of revenge. Sophie discovers her boyfriend has been cheating on her, and rather than sulking, she decides to take control—by showing up to the biggest Valentine’s event with Tanner, her best friend’s incredibly handsome brother. What begins as a simple plan to make her ex uncomfortable quickly evolves into something much more complicated. I was captivated watching Sophie and Tanner navigate whether their connection was just for show or something genuine. I appreciated how Tanner was fully committed from the beginning while Sophie attempted to resist their undeniable chemistry. The chemistry was palpable, the tension was real, and let’s be honest—who doesn’t enjoy a story where a fake date starts to feel a bit too authentic? It was sweet and steamy, and I cheered for them all through. A Date with an Admirer is an excellent addition to your book collection. Happy reading… enjoy!
This is a best friend’s brother story. It has great characters and although short, the story line is well written.
What is Sophie to do when he longterm boyfriend is caught cheating on her right before they are supposed to go to a Valentine’s Day gala? Now that he is taking his younger employee, Sophie needs to figure something out. Here to help her is her best friend Ellie and what a solution she has, her younger brother Tanner.
Tanner has been in lobe with Sophie since they were younger. He has just moved back to the East Coast from California and he is definitely not the skinny nerd boy he was when he left. He has grown into a handsome, well built, successful man.
These two had chemistry from the beginning and it sizzled on the page. Another good story form these authors whose writing flows seamlessly together.
