From the authors of Wiccapedia, a guide to the energetic properties and healing qualities of crystals and gemstones, with rituals to enhance your life. Witches have used crystals for centuries for their energetic properties and healing qualities—inherent magickal powers that can work in different ways to enhance a person’s life. Now you can learn how to incorporate crystals and gemstones into your daily rituals, from learning the best way to choose and collect stones to how to cast crystal spells. In their new book from the Modern Witch series, Shawn Robbins and Leanna Greenaway offer readers an authoritative, in-depth guide to crystal magick and spells. You’ll learn how to care for, charge, program, and house your crystal, gain information on crystal circles, wands, and sabbats, as well as an A–Z list of the most commonly used crystals and their magical properties. Spells cover everything from protection, healing, and mindfulness to blessings and divination. Crystal Witch is the ultimate crystal craft reference you’ll want to turn to again and again.
a few pieces of good information here and there, but i wouldn't rely on it. There are better books out there and it really pains me to say that, bc, in the essence, this book is beautiful and you see there was effort put into it
but it's preachy, it comes off as very Wiccan-esque (which would be fine if it was labeled consequently)
Basically any book of crystals would have given you these informations, but serve more practical functions.
This is a solid book for someone like me who is curious and just starting on their path. The way they explain how to use crystals and the many cleansing rituals etc are very informative. I also like how they briefly touch on other aspects of the craft, such as moon cycles, the zodiac, and gods/goddesses in relation to crystals. The one thing I don’t like about this book is the way in which they use Wicca and Witch interchangeably, when they are not the same thing. I also kind of feel like the spells in this book are very intense and require many "ingredients", such as herbs, when I personally believe it should have been more focused on the use of crystals to manifest and cast spells. However that is just my opinion. Overall very solid
This book is super informational and great for any witch diving into crystal magick. The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was mostly because it focuses a lot on spell casting and I was hoping for more information on the crystals themselves. But either way, it was super informational and enjoyed what it taught me.
this feels like a starter book for witches, but it's definitely wicca flavored (which i feel should've been expressed more by the book's cover and description). but you can tell there's so much care put in the book, the drawings are beautiful, and there's so many spells given to you if you wanted to follow along with them. i just hope people know it's okay to be creative and not feel like this book puts you into a book of what witchcraft should be, because it's not one size fits all 🙏🏻
It took me a while to read because of the amount of information. It was literally like studying but enjoyable. And I like the way it’s divided, if there’s any information you’re not interested in you just skip it and it’s very easy to find the next one.
Love all the spell ideas and step by step for them. I really enjoyed this book
Pretty ok book, I got it to widen my knowledge on crystals, but it didn't really do much for me. It's ok if you want to learn more about spells etc. but not for actually getting to know crystals.
Eng: This book can be useful to you if you're a beginner, since it contains a great variety of crystals and ways of cleansing and using them, I can't say that I didn't learn new things. But let me warn you, it's highly based in wicca, and there's some things that they say that aren't very reliable. It was overall good, I really liked the wheel of the year section, since it explained which ancient celebration originated each of the sabbats, while also giving information about them and spells. But I give it 3 stars because of some weird things that appear. Also, something not positive is that of all the crystals mentioned in the book, only 20 are illustrated
The editing was really bad and some of the rock pictures got mixed up. There was also a lot of questionable information, most of it didn't make sense. A very neo-Wiccan book, something you would find over the internet. The spell section was overdone and bland, like eating plain noodles, very repetitive and not interesting. The astrology section was something you would find in a magazine. I don't feel like this was worth my time. Reiki wasn't needed... especially if you don't know what you're doing but I supposed it's far enough from being legit it doesn't matter. The bibliography was nonexistent, although, it would be more concerning if there was one. The art was beautiful and nice to look at at least, that is my main compliment.
Heavily Wicca based, it does leave little room for other types of ‘witchcraft’. Unlike some of the other books in this series, I do find things one a little more helpful. Very pretty hand drawn pictures of crystals, lots of information about what each crystal does and how to cleanse them. I found there to be more useful information in this one, for me specifically. Will definitely keep for referencing.
I am infatuated with crystals and was very excited to read this book. It did include an incredible amount of information and there are loads of page markers in my copy now for future reference. However, there were more than a few spelling errors and some odd grammar throughout the book and one of the illustrations in the book actually had an iStock watermark on the image still. Because of these aspects, I was a little put off when I came across one.
This is just after skimming through the book and reading some sections so I'm assuming I will encounter other similar issues.
2 stars for the gorgeous hardcover and some nice small sections.
A lot more Wiccan elements than what I had anticipated. Those elements are also sometimes presented in a 'preachy' way - i.e. 'Follow each direction to the letter' and 'it is essential that ... you close it down by saying 'So mote it be''. The book could use more flexibility in that regard and I wish the authors would keep in mind that it is common for readers to freely adjust/amend a number of elements to better suit their needs.
There are also some Christian elements with which I'm not sure I resonate and that were not disclosed on the back cover - i.e. suggestions to call in Angels using affirmations.
This is supposed to be a book about crystals and the actual crystal section is a bit underwhelming. There seems to be very few descriptions of only '20 essential crystals' which were very brief. While many other crystals are listed afterwards, they are only associated with a short sentence that often lists the same paraphrased qualities attributed to other crystals, which overall feels like a superficial glossary of existing crystals. For instance: 'Azumar: Brings peace and pleasure'. Why and according to which sources or stories? I'm almost questioning whether the authors just wrote what the crystal made them feel without doing any research as some of the qualities associated with rather basic crystals don't match with what I've read before from other more in depth sources. Hopefully that is not the case.
Finally, the tone feels very informal and addressed to teenagers which makes me worry about how well-researched its content is. For example: 'Whip up a crystal wand. If you're a fan of a certain young wizard, you've no doubt seen movies in which wands are used to cast all sorts of spells - sometimes with outlandish results!' Let alone the tone, why the Harry Potter pop culture references? I understand the authors are trying to be playful but this was a turn-off that made the topic feel silly in my opinion.
I was excited to learn more about crystals and while I'm sure there are some useful elements, it was a bit of a let down and I'm not so sure this will remain on my bookshelf.
Some of the info in this book was great but they presented everything as fact without any sources. Additionally, they mentioned SETTING UP FAIRY RINGS in your yard which is a pretty big no no. Lastly, Reiki isn’t a tradition you just pick up. There are numerous types and you need to attend certification classes.
As my first book on crystals, I found this book to be pretty informative and covers a wide array of crystals and their possible uses. However, I don't believe I'm informed enough to comment on or even try out the spells provided in the book quite yet so I won't.
i really enjoyed this but i wish it focused more on the crystals and less on spells (which are fun and witchy but i’m not there yet lol). i did love the section about holidays though! my celtic history prof had a samhain celebration with us so im excited to revisit that this year. 🌙
Not a bad book for a new broom, but it is HIGHLY wiccanized. If Wicca isn’t the path that you want to follow, you will have to read this book with a pretty intense filter to weed out the witchcraft from the Wicca.
Interesting way to navigate your mind towards positive changes. I have a certain degree of belief in the energies of gemstones and found this book helpful in obtaining more calm spiritual mindset, especially if the spell are similar to mantras to let go of negative influences in one’s life.
This book told me what I needed to know, but the rest was completely extra information that I did not want to know. This book was very detailed, including many many spells which I did not want to learn about.
This book has a lot of interesting information about crystals. It's very wiccan biased and can be confusing for new people, but everything else is pretty good.
Out of my collection of Witchcraft centered books, I recommend this one above all. It is so perfect in every way whether you’re a baby witch or looking to deepen your craft.
a good reference for magical crystal use. a number of different spells and rituals using crystals in some different ways than I would think. Also how to incorporate crystals with other modalities.
