For Natasha Orlov, getting captured while staging a rescue mission is the supernova ending to a black hole day. Her ship is gone, her shuttle’s on lockdown, and she’s trapped with a man who wants her dead.
For Elhadj Isin, waking in the infirmary after being tortured by his enemy is the first strike in a meteor shower of chaos. His ship’s adrift, his crew’s out for blood, and he’s harboring fugitives on the run.
Just another typical day in the black.

Audrey Sharpe grew up believing in the Force and dreaming of becoming captain of the Enterprise. She’s still working out the logistics of moving objects with her mind, but writing science fiction provides a pretty good alternative. When she’s not off exploring the galaxy with Aurora and her crew, she lives in the Sonoran Desert, where she has an excellent view of the stars. A decent ending to this trilogy. I’m glad we finally got to see some more Nat/Isin interactions.
As a whole, this series felt rather basic. Everything we read felt very surface level, I wish we could have dug deeper. This could be because the books are so short. It often felt like lots of things were happening at once while nothing was happening simultaneously. We never really got to see any real depth in the characters which is disappointing. I just wish there had been more to these. Oh well.
A reasonable ending for a three part story, yet the story will continue in the rest of the Starhawke series. The penultimate crisis has choice action, but the actual climax is kind of mushy.
Oh, and I forgot to put this in my currently reading status while reading it!
Really enjoyed getting to know the crew. Makes me want to know more about them into the future. Highly recommend this series for anyone who likes a great read.
Cuteeee this was good! Again, the FMC and MMC spent most of the book apart, which was a bummer because their interactions were my favorite part, but the ending was very nice. I like how we humanized one of the 'villains,' and I liked all the subtle queer rep.
Well written but I found the disasters compounding to the extent of disbelief. The ending dragged on a little too long too. The main storyline was interesting and kept you reading. A good final instalment to the trilogy.
It’s 4:00 and I devoured this book in three hours. I’d love to stay on the Phoenix with Nat and Isen, Pete, Sweep and the gang. Can do without Shush though. Thanks for making memorable characters, Audrey.
Great start to what I hope becomes a longer series!
The twists and turns on the story keep me on edge. Loved how the characters were developed and how their relationships grew. This, of course, makes for the new possibilities in the series to extend beyond the end of this trilogy. I haven't read the original trilogy but I'm looking forward to getting more background on this fantastic universe... and partaking in the future endeavors of this great set of characters. Quick read but in the end extremely satisfying. 5 stars!
What a fantastic end to a great trilogy. Natasha Orlov has been captured by Rathburn, the wealthy and powerful man her client is running from, Isin is on Phoenix and is recovering from his encounter with Kerr, his ship Vengeance is adrift and damaged, and Rathburn has invited Kerr and his crew on board his ship, Cerberus and has promised them Vengeance after they complete repairs. Can things get any worse? Of course they can and they do, but Nat and Isin have a great crew and with their help, they’ll get through whatever comes, so they can come out the other side free to pursue their dreams. I love these characters and this world and look forward to reading further adventures, which will be forthcoming according to the author.
Some trilogies end up weakly with either an abrupt ending or no real ending at all. Not so for RenegadeRising. This has a perfect ending. We will know the characters when we come across them and enjoy their company, but will also be free to get to know new characters. The whole of the Starhawke series has been well written, exciting and fun!
Wow! Did I just say wow? This book is amazing. You’re going to love this exciting series?
I love the characters, the story, and the excitement. Wonderful read full of adventure and unexpected twists and turns. I hope there is more eventually, as I hated to let this go. Excellent read!
I love it when a plot surprises me. This one did in a very good way. Characters who are not what they seem, action that is unexpected and a great ending. I love this world and hope to see more of the characters in future stories.
Great way to finish the trilogy !Gotta say started reading the first book 2 days ago and have zipped through all three in a jifee. Good plot line and strong characters .. cant wait for the next in the series
Some serious stuff dealt with in some very serious ways delivering a satisfying end to the series. I'd like the new characters that were introduced in this book and the promise they bring for a potential new series.
