He’s the one guy she’s always wanted...

Allison Turner has always been known as a goody-two-shoes. One who always plays safe and avoids risks like the plague.

Well, it’s time for a change—and agreeing to be Duane Hollis’s fake girlfriend to make his ex jealous seems like a good start as any. There’s just one problem: he’s her brother’s best friend and the boy she’s secretly in love with. Complicated doesn’t even begin to describe the situation.

Allison knows it’s totally insane and completely stupid to help Duane out, especially when her heart is at stake. But maybe, just maybe, it’s exactly what she needs to turn things around…and finally get the guy.

It's cute but way too short to really enjoy the story and the characters. It needed more length and depth to the characters. The pacing was very jumpy.

Spoilers? Not many... nah it’s a lot ...

I forgot who Allie was for like 2.5 seconds when I started this book. Because I had read the first book with her best friend (Indie & her brother Grayson). Then I was like ooooh okay that’s who Allie is... 🤔🤣

So anyway. I was glad this book didn’t drag their story. I was glad it was short and straightforward. That’s what I like; for one, I knew that Duane was going to fall for Allison. Soon as he started dating her, realizing she was different than Heather.

Heather got a fool too when she realizes that Duane wasn’t coming back to her. Since she was complaining about his clingy-ness and that was the reason for their break up. HA...

He wasn’t even thinking about her, only showing her that he was happy with the new girl (Allison) that he moved on with. Heather was so bitter too staring hard at Allison across the cafeteria and stuff. I felt like she tried to intimidate Allison in a lot of ways. & it affected Allie too, and she had insecurities that she had to work on. What made it worse was Duane's sister stating that Heather was prettier than on top of that Allie seeing Heather kiss Duane in the parking lot. But I was glad that was all cleared out, and Allie forgave Duane.

Not only that, how I figure out that Duane didn’t care about Heather any more was when Allie mentioned Justin & when Justin was talking to Allie at the Ice Cream shop, which leads Duane to turn into Incredible Hulk and become jealous. Steam was coming out of his ears. He wanted to make sure JUSTIN knew that Allison was his girlfriend.. 😂 he wasn’t playing at all. I was here for it too since. They both confessed that they were in love with each other since their first kiss at age nine and ten. I was like FINALLY! But at least Grayson was happy for them both since he wasn’t into their FAKE relationship though I felt Allie was right when she said about Gray couldn’t get mad since he was dating her best friend...

I was glad Gray came around and understood. & he accepted their relationship since Duane confessed his feelings for Allie to her brother, his best friend (Gray). Which I thought was a good idea. Since Indie and Gray kept things from Allie when they were FAKE dating, but at least in this book, no one found out that Allie and Duane were fake dating.?

Nice, cozy summer read with a girl who is in love with her brother`s best friend, who is living next door all her life and who is not interested in her as a potential girlfriend (the cliche which always gets me!)... they start a fake relationship to make his ex-girlfriend jealous... Almost the same story as a Faking it... The book is a nice, easy love story, but the characters seem to be underdeveloped...

Allison constantly refers to herself as a geeky girl. Why? There was nothing geeky about her... She listens to grunge, she watches teen rom-coms with her bestie, she goes to parties and studies... she is not centre of the party, but she is also not a social outcast...Just a normal nice pretty girl next door... Also I was not able to point the exact moment, when relationship between her and Duane changed... They were in a fake relationship and suddenly he was in love with her and I am not a big fan of an instant love story (especially not in a story about people who has known each other all their lives... no inside jokes, no common memories are mentioned, no profound understanding of each other, no fun was portrayed in this story... it has so much potential, but it need to be longer maybe?)... I would like to see some flashback, why she fell in love with him at the first place...

And what was the point of the character of Justin? Just to make Duane jealous? His is there constantly and barely says a sentence...

Although, I need just this, short positive love story with a happy ending, so if you do not expect anything more, this is a nice book...

I don't know why I read this, it was honestly worst then the first one as it basically followed the same plot but somehow did it worse. Was hoping that the author would of picked the other boy just because it would have made this book slightly more interesting but nope. The writing was clearly a rushed job and honestly could have done with another two drafts before reaching the final product

I give this one a 3 or 3.5 stars I liked most of the characters but like the other one I've read though her hand writing is great it's not as good as others I've read doesn't go as smoothly but I still enjoyed it and would read more especially since they are such quick easy reads since neither have been long i enjoyed this series and might eventually read more from this author

This book was better than the last one (Faking It) in regards to swearing. No f-bombs that I remember but still several uses of SH and some more “minor” swear words. It seemed almost like the same story as before but cleaned up a bit and using different characters to tell it.

Cute continuation from the first book but involves the best friend Allie and the best friend of her brother. The only frustrating thing was shortening Allie's name to All because I wasn't reading it as a shortened version of Allie and it threw me off frequently.

Good read

Those girls are just evil hurtful heifers. I don’t think she should of agreed to it because she knew she had feelings for him and he was trying to get back his ex. He should’ve told her right away they had feelings for her.but everything worked out in the end.

This story was short, cute, and sweet. Unfortunately I didn’t love it as much as the first in the series maybe it was the characters and how much I quickly grew attached to them in the first book. It is cute however and I did enjoy it.

The first one was so much better. This one was so bleh that it has been less than a month since I read it, and I can't remember anytign about it. I liked the author's other series way more. This one felt like a waste of time...

I liked this one just as much as the first one. Though, I did get more attached to Indie and Gray than i did to Allie and Duane.

Cutsie

Cutsie, drama light. A nice quick read. Not a whole lot of substance to this one. And I think a few things were added that were unnecessary. But still cute.

This was a cute fast read, I preferred book 1 and it's characters but for an hours read it was enjoyable just wish it was more expanded on to make it better

3.5 🍭🍭🍭

I like the duet. The first book’s couple is a bit more romantic in my opinion, but it’s a fun, swoony duet that has realistic teen interaction and cute romance 💜
