An Academy like no other for a girl with a destiny that no one could handle...

Caelum.
Home to 'freaks' the world over.
Haven to children declared insane by humans, but whose beautiful minds contain the souls of seven creatures.

In the human world, they're sick. Ill. Labeled schizophrenics at best, deviants at worst.
At Caelum?
They're normal.
More than that, they're future warriors in a war no human knows is happening.

Into this mix tumbles Eve. An oddball even among oddballs.
Raised in a cult, she can't handle a TV remote never mind news that she isn't insane, is old enough to join the war effort, and oh, is mated to several males.

Caelum is more of a home than she's ever known but, just like in the New Order Cult that reared her, anyone out of the ordinary is a dead man walking.

And Eve?

She doesn't have seven souls like everyone else.
She has eight.

Dead woman walking?

Find out in book TWO of the complete Caelum Academy trilogy.

Eight Souls was a bit of a drag to read, not paying enough attention to the actually interesting elements and paying too much attention to some others on the tone of being repetitive.

I feel like this vibe of having the whole action part of these series on the background just dulls down the book. If it's supposed to be strictly academy then why make the characters so adult-ish powerful creatures and basically show them doing nothing but gym which is fighting? The characters want to be more mature than what the setting is supposed to be, it just ends up being in an awkward stage with a shallow focus on the whole big bad fighting against ghouls.

First book still had some action in terms of a brief scene fighting the ghouls but this book we even skip on that, I mean when I saw the helicopters arriving I thought I would finally see some fight to add some liveliness to the book before it ends but of course it ends up so.. anticlimactic. It makes sense for it to happen the way it did but at same time it fell flat as well, you know? What's the use of having all of these creatures if we aren't going to see them in action?

This book continues with the whole Eve-so-different-so perfectly soft and curvy and what not-no other girls can compare tone, it just irks me. Man we get it, enough with the repetition. Same with talking about her innocence or naivety like can we just move past what's already discussed in the first book and give space to the new elements revealed in this book?! Different POVs but the same monotonous repetitive inner thoughts made this book bland.

For the second book in a trilogy this one has very little going on in terms of the actual plot, except for revealing what is Eve's eighth soul and some wishy-washy info around mate bonds, it was all mundane romance building that doesn't move beyond the repetitive tone in any of the guys except for Dre.

This second book was better for me in terms of overall enjoyment the first half of it I did find quite slow and I did sometimes feel like we were traversing the same ground a fair but then it does kick up a notch and the second half then was much more interesting.

This isn’t my favourite of this authors work but it does have an intriguing central story and is also highly imaginative. I’m now finding myself hoping that Eve’s potential evolution into who she is becoming stays on an upward slant as she’s definitely becoming more intriguing as time elapses. During the first half, I did find myself becoming slightly irritated by her constant naivety so a more awakened Eve for me is only a good thing.

This wasn’t as tame as its predecessor in terms of its heat levels it’s definitely not got a high scorch level but it is starting to up the sizzle somewhat. Also, the finish here was definitely unexpected and I will be reading the final book just so I can see how this is all eventually resolved and just what the hell is actually going on.

So yeh for me this is an ok read with some good ideas it just unfortunately at times didn’t always hit the right spot with me and I definitely enjoyed some bits much more than others. I still think it’s worth giving a go if you're partial to lighter flavoured academy reads ones with plenty of imagination and I was fascinated by the world it’s all set in.

Big changes are coming for Eve and her men. It's more that she brought together two groups of enemies together but now the more the guys learn about her and what she can do the more worried they become. Eve comes clean about her souls and everyone is in utter shock. When they figure out her eighth soul is that of a Jin no one really knows how to react. Hella good talent to have but it does seem to come with consequences and no one knows if Eve's power is unlimited. This book was another quick read with Eve slowly adapting to the world around her. It's still taking her a lot of time to understand slang and modern lingo but with 7 guys constantly correcting her and her amazing memory, I imagine it won't take long for her to catch on. With only one more book left I'm not sure what's to come. It's clear Eve is special. She's 'more' than everyone else and obviously has these powers for a reason, guess time will tell why that is!

Still really like the premise! The characters are intriguing. Just not totally sold on the flow of this book. Some things are extremely wordy in explanation, and overly repetitive. There also seems to be an obvious buildup to something, but with only one book left, it just seems like it’s gonna fall a bit lackluster.

The constant mention of Eve’s body being different from the other girls is pretty annoying lol. We get it, she’s “rounder” “not fit” “has supple curves” etc etc. like. Pls stop lol.

Also, there doesn’t seem to be many other scenes with other people at this school? Like one scene with an “ex” and... that’s it. It fell flat for me.

As i predicted, with seven mates (one still not bonded), some of them fall to the side. It’s not spread evenly, and some feel more developed than the others. Their friendships are interesting, and i just wish they were more developed characters.

Eve starts acting out of character at the end of the book, which i know is meant to push us into something, but i kind of hate that lol. I really enjoy her character, still learning 21st century slang and all.

I’m glad it’s a trilogy so things won’t be overly drawn out but also I’m upset that the characters won’t get their full time to develop, because at this rate, i just know the relationships won’t all flesh out well.

Also, Dre sucks, and i feel like what he said to her was incredibly brushed over and forgotten, and i hope in the third book she’s hard with him lol.

I'm starting to feel the NA vibe here, nothing wrong with that just not my cup of tea (well then I shouldn't have picked up an NA book!)
There are a lot of "main" characters and because of that I am feeling the lack of character development. The author does her best with the page time she has.....all in all I'm interested to see where this goes

Vampires, gargoyles, and bears

A lot to take in in this second novel. Things are moving a lot faster. There are a lot of unanswered questions as to the marks each has received, including Eve. It seems like a lot to cover, so I hope it is wrapped up well in book 3.

Also, I find it strange that a girl born into a religious cult was named Eve as she is seen as the temptress that led Adam astray from paradise.

There was a lot of waffling and just useless filler writing, I thought. Skimmed from 30%. Nearly DNF. Awesome concept for a story, don't get me wrong, but execution was just a bit too boring for me. Sahrry

Eight Souls is a work of art. I know it's a big statement to make but this is probably one of the best books Ms Akeroyd has written and it's not even the last of it.

Following from Seven Wishes, Eve continues to learn about this new world she finds herself in. As she adjusts and finds her place, she grows from strength to strength even as she fights to overcome her own ignorance from a very sheltered upbringing. She learns to stand up for herself, to be strong in her own right even as her guys stand by her and do everything they can to protect the wonder and uniqueness that she is. And she is without a doubt, unique.

I loved getting to know the guys a lot better in this installment of the series. Each with their haunted difficult pasts, and even those without have all lost something of themselves before they came to be at Caelum. It makes them the men they are today, shaping them and building them up, but at the same time making them into the protectors they are.

They recognise Eve for who she is and what she means to them in the lives and their entire focus is on protecting her and keeping her from being discovered by those who mean her harm. I loved seeing Stefan and Frazer's pack come together and seriously, of all these guys, it's hard to find a favorite even as Dre continues to hold out and be a complete jerk and poor Samuel is left on the edges wondering when it's his turn.

Things happen at a rapid pace as Eve continues to learn not only about this new world she's in but also how to fight and defend herself. Throw into the mix the heightened feelings of the mating bond and being Chosen, and emotions and everything else are heightened.

The story ends as they leap from the frying pan into the fire. Thank goodness Ms Akeroyd has decided to release all three books in the series at the same time so there's no need to wait to find out what happens next. Hold my drink, I'm diving in!!

OKAY.
What a steamy and amazing read!

The second book in this series reveals a bit more to us; for instance, we immediately find out that the only two guys who are, in fact, NOT mated to Eve yet are Eren and Samuel.
SO.
Yeah, that was quite the twist and introduction to the book; naturally, I was hooked like a child on candy.
“”You’re not the only two males that Eve has Chosen.” And with that, I shucked off my shirt and twisted around to show them the way of it.
I wore her mark too.”

Eve admits to the guys the secret she has been harbouring for fear of being different, the one about her having 8 souls instead of the typical 7. She knows that this soul presides over the others within her mind, although we get a real shocker when we find out exactly what it does.
“She'd made me think of it, and the words had spilled from my lips almost as if I hadn't wanted them to, and now? The key ring was back in my possession. After I'd wished it back there.”
We find out this 8th soul is a Djinn and thus, is capable of granting freaking WISHES?!
That’s some genie in a bottle shit right there and it’s totally the last thing I expected!
Definitely a game-changer for them.

At this point, the men fear for her safety and band together to protect Eve. They set aside their differences, coming to a truce in order to keep their mate safe.
They decide that, in light of her unique 8th soul, she is at risk at the academy; therefore, they make a whip-quick plan to get her (and them) off the school grounds.
“…don’t you see, woman? You’re a walking weapon,”
“Youre exactly what Caelum needs to eradicate all Ghouls, and if you fell into their hands, you’re what they need to annihilate us.”

Dre doesn’t put it very nicely but I’m sure he’s not wrong.

Dre is even nastier in this instalment than he was in the first book. I was simultaneously appalled and excited by his behaviour towards Eve. She must be really stirring shit up in his head for him to lash out the way he does.
“I didn’t need her to like me, didn’t even need her to Choose or Claim me, but she’d taken that away from me, and I was the only guy who seemed to mind that.
Males had no choice, but if I had, I’d never have picked someone like her.”

Which is now completely unwarranted, considering she gave Dre an amazing gift (I.e. the freedom to shift years ahead of schedule), something he should not have been able to do until he crossed the portal at the right age.
“The next moment would forever be stuck in my memory…One second, I was there, crouched over on the ground, a man just waiting to be given full access to all his powers. And the next?
There was a bear—a grizzly, no less—and that beast was me.”

Low and behold.. another one of miss Eve’s mysterious abilities is revealed and I have to say, it’s pretty badass.

The smutty scenes we get in this book are fucking fabulous!
I swear her naivety to everything sexual makes this entire build-up to intercourse so agonizingly delicious.
I didn’t realize how powerful that slow-burn really was until I was running to change my panties, as a result of a third-base scene (albeit, a VERY hot one) with Nestor!?
“When we finally connected, with no barriers, I released a groan so deep, it seemed to resonate through my entire being.”
Damn Serena that was FIRE.
Also love that gargoyle!

Eren, the sweetheart who is probably one of the closest to Eve, has patiently been waiting to be marked by her; finally that time comes, when she soothes him in a moment of panic and they connect on a soul-deep level.
“She was there. Filling up my empty places, shining a light on all the shadows in my soul, and I’d spend the rest of my life thanking her for Choosing me.
For making me hers.”

Frazer and Eve make some big strides in this book.
As we know, he is mated to her and as a sign of his growing affection, he gifts her with a prized possession of his; a necklace that belonged to his mother and means so much to him. Although he does make a startling and heart-melting (okay and panty-melting) declaration.
““Why are you giving me this?”
“Because it’s one of two of the most precious possessions I have, and you’re not ready for the other one.”
“What is it?” she asked softly. “The other one, I mean.”
“I don’t think you’re even ready to hear what it is, honey—”
“Tell me,” she urged.
I dropped the weight and shrugged. “My heart.””

FUCK ME UP.
I lost all composure, he is seriously swoon-worthy!

Following this emotionally charged moment something TOTALLY unexpected and completely DELICIOUS happens between these two lovers…
“”Tell me to take you to the bed, to make love to you gently,” I rasped, my voice shaking as my control lay around my feet in smithereens.”
As a result of this act, she solidifies the mating bond between them, officially claiming Frazer as hers.
“Whatever separated our souls? Kept them from merging? Eve’s had just blown apart, and I’d had ringside seats for the show.”

EVE HAS LEVELLED UP BABY.
She is embracing herself, her powers, her sexuality. I absolutely adore a major character development such as the one we have seen with Eve thus far.
“Before, Eve had been awkward. Timid. Shy, even.
Now? She was sultry. Sinuous. A true female creature who knew her worth, as well as her power.”

I’m glad she is finally showing her true capabilities and coming into her own!

The end of the story gives us a pretty good inclination about what is to come in the third book of the series…
The entire academy is drugged to fall asleep, while a force of Ghoul helicopters attempt to infiltrate the grounds under the cover of darkness.
Eren is not easily subdued however and he wakes in time to get the others out of their slumber. They all understand the severity of what would occur if the ghouls were to touch-down at the school; thus, they make a collective wish for the school to be safe again.
Luckily it worked this time but it didn’t make things any safer for Eve.
“With our seven wishes granted, and her eight souls, Eve had just saved hundreds of lives.
That kind of power?
It was ripe for manipulation.”

After expending herself for the wish, she remains unconscious, only for the guys to realize as they are making their escape that a mark has appeared on her body; one that they are not familiar with and will surely give us some answers about her true purpose, as well as the extent of her abilities.
“Her hands and arms, however, remained inked. As I peered down at them, I saw that each leaf was made up of a word. Tiny letters marked her in tongues, but I didn’t understand them, not a single word.”

Where they are off to, we will see!
Ugh absolutely LOVED THIS.
Hoping that book 3 wraps everything up nicely!

A Captivating Dive into the Extraordinary

Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Heat Level: 🔥🔥

**Review:**

Having delved into the second installment of Serena Akeroyd's series, "Eight Souls," I found myself once again enchanted by the author's ability to craft a narrative that is both rich in detail and unfolds at a deliberate pace. As a reader familiar with the series, I appreciated the depth of information provided, shedding light on the intricacies of the captivating world within Caelum.

The narrative maintains a deliberate and enjoyable pace, ensuring readers have ample time to grasp the complexities of this unique universe. It's a book that doesn't rush, allowing the story to unfold naturally and allowing the reader to immerse themselves fully.

In terms of heat level, the author successfully elevates the intensity from the first book, although I expected a bit more in that department. Nevertheless, the subtle increase in passion adds a layer of complexity to the relationships, keeping the reader engaged.

The synopsis paints a vivid picture of Caelum, a haven for those considered "freaks" in the human world but destined to become warriors in a covert war. Eve, the protagonist, with her unique background and the burden of eight souls, adds an intriguing element to the narrative. The tension between her past and her present, compounded by the revelation of being mated to several males, creates a compelling storyline.

As the second book in the series, "Eight Souls" leaves readers with a hunger for more, especially considering the promise of a climactic conclusion. The anticipation builds, making it clear that the final part of the story is a must-read to unravel the mysteries and destinies of the characters. Serena Akeroyd has masterfully set the stage for an epic culmination, and I eagerly await the next chapter in this extraordinary tale.

Review:
You don’t want to miss a beat with these books, so many new things are learned and so many guys are added to the fun. This RH/PNR picks up right where book 1 left off, but with more finally coming to light, and Eve being informed of the bonds of mate happening within the guys. The guys also learn she is not like them, she has an 8th soul where they only have 7. These seven souls are actually different beings that fight for dominance until they turn 21 and one soul wins out. As the book progresses and their relationships become more intimate even bigger secrets are revealed about what her 8th soul really is and what she can really do. They know they must escape Caelum to help her or if her true self is discovered her life and theirs could be on the line.

Great story so far

I really enjoyed how the story grew and changed and how the people grew and changed, although there were some inconsistencies between the stories. No big deal though, they're easily ignored. And the story is fabulous. Can't wait to read the next one.

Slow burn lovin (some spoilers)

Still definitely enjoying this trilogy. Book 2 we watched Eve learn more about her souls and build her relationships with the guys. Definitelyyyyyyyy a slow burn, I don’t normally tend to like slow burn as much but I’m really loving this trilogy because it has a good story line. I’m going to give in to my inner drama queen and hope that Eve makes Dre WORK to gain her love after the way he treated her. No cheating has taken place in this series so far, thankfully. We learned more about the difference between male and female creatures, and about the ghouls. We’ve also watched Eve really start to come into her own in this book, becoming more comfortable with the guys and with who she is. Honestly, in a lot of books you can already guess what’s going to happen next.... I cant on this one. I have no idea where the story is gonna go and I LOVE it. I’m excited to see what/why Eve is different, why she has so many chosen, who tried to attack them, who betrayed Caelum, and how they are going to end this and live HEA. Keeping us on our toes. So, on my toes to the next one I go.

I really enjoyed this book, but I also had a difficult time focusing bc there is tons of description and repeating the same lines. There’s tension and someone is describing the decor!! I don’t care! Let’s get to the good part of trying to get to Eve.

Quite a bit happens in this book, but I still feel like we are more in the dark than ever. I’m wondering if the school isn’t as good of a place as they claim? Idk. I also feel like the cult that Eve came from could have had Ghouls? But wouldn’t she have noticed? So I’m not sure exactly what’s going on.

So much happens in this book with Eve and the guys, with Eve and her souls. But we do get to see that Eve has a backbone, which is nice. And she’s not so....brainwashed. In fact we get some make out scenes and more in this book. Which is surprising. I’m honestly surprised this is a trilogy I just don’t see how this can be tied up in the next book. I honestly wish there were more than 3 books. It could have gone on for a bit. I still don’t get why they are fighting the Ghouls I mean yea to protect humanity but....that’s it? And why are they at war, how did that start? Why only females? Are they born to “normal” people? Because they keep saying that their kind is hard to breed...so were their parents their parents? So this series could use some editing for continuity and such but the writing is great.

Kindle Unlimited.

There are a few things that got annoying in this one, but I was interested enough in the overarching plot to keep reading. I did like seeing Eve grow as a person, and into the world a little better. The Claimings were pretty hot, and even though it seemed like Eve evolved a little too quickly to be OK with everything, had it been any slower, I probably would've lost interest.

Some of my issues with this one:
-Eve's body. She's chubby. We get it. It felt like every third paragraph was another commentary on her appearance.
-Random SAT words forced in.
-Some authoritative plot holes. If Nicholas and the faculty is so powerful...where are they?

So riveting and unique and sexy. I love Serena Akeroyd's books but not the obvious anti-religion rhetoric and clear and offensive ignorance on Islam here; no 'Muslim to the core' would cheat on his wife or have affairs or abuse ANYONE whatever their age or faith (or lack thereof). 'you have your faith and I have my faith' is in the Quran. And adultery is right up there with the worst of sins a man or a woman can commit, right along with abusing animals, nevermind children. Ugh.

Despite that offensive, bigoted crap, I enjoyed this and will probably get the third book soon, after I've washed the nasty aftertaste of that part from my brain.

I was hoping I’d enjoy this 2nd book too but it felt almost like it kept going without a point til the very end. I mean, I guess 7 bois is a lot to keep up with XD
Would have loved if there had been more action instead of just backstories. The final books seems like it may have the perfect mixture of backstories, steamy scenes, and action, or so I’m really hoping.
I just really hope there is more action....and steamy scenes cuz I mostly read these type of books for the steamy scenes XD

I love the twist and turns in this series. It is so unique, and I enjoy learning more about the characters. I'm a bit mixed about how to feel about the way they react to Eve's lack of common knowledge though. At times they're patient, but in this book they seem to get more frustrated and annoyed with it. I wish at least one of them would stand up for her, when they talk down to her. Other than that, I love how invested and loyal they are. I very much recommend this series.

I’m sorry I DNF. I was curious about how the story but I just can’t get past the main character Eve. She’s annoying to me. I finished the first book, got to about chapter 2 of this book and just couldn’t push through anymore. The whole “born sexy yesterday” trope really bothered me after awhile. If she’s so smart she should’ve been able to pick things up by now.

Better than the first. Eve is learning more and becoming more in touch with her souls. Could do with a bit more drama because it is pretty much paranormal hurt/comfort fluff hot chocolate and marshmallows. Favourites are Sam and Dre, because Dre's creature was adorable and they're not in full on puppy mode. I liked that there is some violence and I'm looking forward to see what happens next.

Eight Souls begins when everyone starts to find out who close they really are to Eve, and when she revels all of her secrets none of them can really believe what is happening, but they don't really have a choice. They must do what they can in order to protect her and each other.

This was another great story in this series, and I'm really sad that the next book is the end.

To an amazing story! Loved the progression of the relationship between the two packs and Eve’s continued metamorphosis into the creature she is.
