Adam Morrow is a self-made millionaire. But one night with her could ruin everything…

I’ve worked my ass off for what I have, and I’m damn proud of it. I started off with nothing and now I’m filthy rich. Let me tell you, there’s nothing like revenge to help you get your ass in gear. And that’s what I’m taking, with every exclusive resort I open—sweet, sweet revenge…on her.

Nicole Westmore was my first love. The poor little rich girl stole my heart with her sweet smile, hot body, and irresistible innocence. The summer I worked for her father was the best time of my life…until he drove me away. Even then, I thought Nicole would wait for me. She didn’t.

And so, I decided to get even, opening rival hotels, slowly driving them out of business. The old man is gone now, but Nicole is still running the company that’s about to collapse. All my hard work will soon pay off.

And then I catch sight of her at a wedding, and all those feelings come rushing back--for both of us. Still, she doesn’t know what I’ve done—yet—and she seems more than willing. What will one night in her bed hurt?

The sex is hotter than ever, and I can’t help wondering if I’ve made a mistake. Until I get up the next morning…and realize I’ve been kidnapped!

The Revenge Game
By: Alice Gaines

*REVIEW* 🌟🌟🌟
The Revenge Game is really a second chance romance story. Adam and Nicole were together ten years ago. Circumstances have brought them back together. Both are coping with hurt from their shared past, but, despite this, it's still insta love/lust for these two. I'm honestly tired of reading this hello and ten minutes later we're in bed scenario. Seriously, where is the originality or the aspect of reality? This is an okay read, but I wouldn't read it again.

This is the first book from this author that I have read. It was an ok read for me. This was a second chance/enemies to lovers’ romance. Adam and Nicole were in love 10 years ago but it wasn’t meant to be. He blames both Nicole and her father for not getting the girl. He plots his revenge by planning to take her father’s hotel. Once her father dies, he plans on taking the hotel from Nicole herself. The chemistry between the characters was very noticeable. Even after 10 years apart, they didn’t need to take time to know each other again. They were able to pick up like nothing happened. With his plan in motion, will be able to stop it in time so he can finally get the girl or is it too late to get the HEA they both lost 10 year ago?

I received an ARC from NetGalley and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review.

This is more like a second chance romance than an enemies to lovers romance. Only one character really has anger and that is Adam. Nicole mainly feels hurt. This was just an okay story for me. I have no problem with sex being in the stories I read, but this was just way too much and way too soon. I get that this is a shorter story, but the two main characters haven't seen each other in ten years and the first time they do that have sex? And in the second chapter? It just wasn't believable for me. I want some more substance in my characters and storyline first.

Adam and Nicole fell in love when he was working as a chauffeur for her father. Nicole's father never liked Adam and he drove the couple apart. Now, years later, Nicole's father is dead and Adam has a revenge plan to remove Nicole from the head of her father's company and take it over. But, as usual, things don't go according to his plans.

Thank you to Entangled Publishing for an arc in exchange for my honest review.

This is a second chance story. We meet Alex who he and his friends have been supposedly burned by woman before and now is living the no string attached life, you know another manho because it seems that is the only thing that authors seem to think of.. Anyhoo he finally gets to his chance to get revenge on his ex Cami and her father and to get to destroy there hotel empire, except that Cami's father has died leaving all the to Cami so it would be Cami who he would destroy. when they see each other the feeling are all there and they seduce each other, I mean these two jump in the bed immediately, I mean immediately I didn't, get how you supposedly hated someone so much yet you wasted absolutely no time in hashing out your issues, but nevertheless I guess we wouldn't have a story. The background issues or the miscommunication was ridiculous or more Cami's side was I understood Alex being upset I would have been too, she really didn't have a leg to stand on. So we have miscommunication, lies, betrayals and eventually an HEA and I am assuming we will having two more stories coming from Grant and Ryan.

I am doing a massive overhaul of my electronic Calibre library, and am slowly picking out some random titles to read while my time is consumed by this reorganization project.

Anyway, I have not read this author before though I do seem to have a lot of her works in my backlog. This felt like a good start. I do love a meaty and juicy "revenge" plot. They were often the bread-and-butter of the older Harlequin era, and somewhat in the early 2000s.

It is always the 2nd chance at romance for the MCs as they had once been young lovers who were never given the chance to be a couple. Something always went wrong with the heroine's father, whether he be overbearing and sinister--just an a-hole. Or he really didn't like the poor, weak financially challenged Hero who had no motivation except to BANG and fall in love with his daughter. Sometimes it became the Romeo/Juliet angle...like bitter rival families with some bad vibes about the lovers ever becoming serious.

Either way...when it is the Hero who seeks revenge, for me, it has to be mired in something viable. I recently read one story where when the young man had been given a "check" to leave the daughter alone? He took it, then cashed it, and used that money to make something of himself. But he still held some kind of haunting revenge idea in his brain when he meets with his old ex-lover.

But this becomes a serious gray area for me as a reader these days because now I am an older and wiser person, so an MC who takes a check years ago [$100,000 mind you...] and then has the utter gall to sit in judgment of the heroine and her father? Dude... moral grayness is always counter to whatever righteousness you feel perfectly seated in a revenge plot.

This one is one of those old-school ones, like in HQ. The Hero is so upset by what the heroine's father did to him...he spends most of his life pursuing a career NOT OF HIS CHOICE...and then 2yrs prior to this book's opening conspires with an ex-wife of the man to swipe the rug out from under his company.

Except the man is now dead. His daughter... the Hero's ex-lover...is now running the company and though there have been rough and tough times, she is doing what she can to make a name for herself and her legacy.

I still do not know if Adam's entire point was "seduction" of Nicole in order to win at business. I think what ended up happening is the man was foisted by his own petard...and DID NOT enjoy being seduced right back by Nicole.

This angle is what saved this book a little from being completely wretched. I find myself seriously side-eyeing a Hero who had such dastardly, nefarious PLANS about himself prior to seeing the heroine again.

So, once he is back in her bed... giving her orgasms upon orgasms [as this couple seemed only worthy of SEX ON TAP...] I find myself unmoved by anything he tries to explain or excuse with himself. Very rarely did we get personal or private conversations... too much dirty bad blood between them... genuinely, to ever be HEALED.

We had POV inner conversations for each MC [w/themselves], but never did the twain meet in an intimate conversation together. Well, they would but one or the other would STOP the topic and ask to move on...let it go. Or just mention it was too caustic or whatever for them to dive into. You know, seriously address past issues each can now come to terms with because they are both Adults and can move on? Nah, not going to happen for this couple which seems very sad to me.

I think...and this is my own two cents, but Adam had a "wrong idea" about Nicole even back then. And he still harbors this IDEAL of her and then allows his own feelings to be moved simply because of what ONCE was..., especially when dealing with her father... WHO IS DEAD. STILL DEAD.

So what does any of this ever truly matter when the one you seek revenge on is gone? No longer of this Earth and you never had ANY beef, anger, or hatred for HER? Except, when we know you did because you keep her locked in this perpetual "idea" she is and always will be her Daddy's Princess? I have a difficult time separating this man's thought process from his words...and his actions too.

This is why I have lesser feelings for his 180-shift change at the end so we can get some force-fed HEA. Adam only did the swift change because he GOT... GOT!! Caught with his pants down that he was actually a scheme-y sleaze who was trying to underhandedly and secretly plan to OUST Nicole from her rightful place in her company legacy.

There was great meat and bones...some good grit, from each MC. But yeah, the SEX was the bigger winner here and I am supposed to fathom Nicole forgets and feels Adam doesn't need to grovel or apologize.... when she had been shown HIS TRUE COLORS--meaning his backdoor secret teaming-up with Nicole's father's EX-wife...just ugh... aggravations and frustrations with women who seem to find love so easily when the Hero has done nothing but be dirty and underhanded for far too long.

Thankfully, for itself, this story was very short-and-sweet. There was some jarring back and forth with 10yrs ago when they were young lovers. And then bring us back to the present day. I think it was meant to "align" or show a "mirrored moment" in time, but for me...I have enough of an imagination I never needed those "10yrs ago" additions because they were so dang short and never really added anything into the relationship mix. BOTH Nicole and Adam were telling us enough in their separate POV's that flashbacks were not needed at all.

This was fine and the author is a great writer, covering all proper points of interest for each character. Unfortunately, there isn't a uniqueness or originality to show me anything different than what I have read before. So, sadly, I have to compare and contrast and find myself reviewing from that aspect. Underwhelming, in all truth. I won't remember these two MCs in a week or two.

I like the trio of guy friends. I do have the next book in this trilogy, so I may pick that one up soon.

The Revenge Game by Alice Gaines a four-star read that will turn you around. This had all the makings of a five-star read but just missed the boat a tiny bit at the steamy bits and as there were plenty this is why I have it four-stars. I liked Nicole Westmore, she was a driven young woman that would surprise you with her depth, and Adam Morrow was a driven man, he was wronged and is doing everything in his power to get it right again. That part I liked, and the boat was fun, its nice to see it the other way around, Nicole surprised me in more ways that I can explain. I will look out for more from this author as overall it was a great story.

Four and a half stars

The Revenge Game is the first in Alice Gaines's Players' Pact series, about a group of men who vow to play the field rather than have their hearts broken and lives destroyed by the predatory women who stalk them ;)

Adam Morrow is the leader of the pack. A self-made wealthy man, he now owns a hotel chain and is determined to destroy the Westmore conglomerate, now headed by Nicole Westmore. His first love. The one who trampled on his heart.

Alice Gaines's story is a hot, page-turning affair. Nicole was a young innocent when they first met, and Adam worked for her father. Her father was not on board with Nicole running around the help, so to speak, and forcibly sent Adam away. Years later, both of them bear the scars of that unforgettable relationship.

Adam and Nicole are not the same people they used to be, but that incendiary chemistry hasn't changed one bit. If anything, it seems to burn hotter and brighter. The Revenge Game is a delicious read.

The Revenge Game (The Player’s Pact) by Alice Gaines is an entertaining enemy to lovers/second-chance romance. Adam and Nicole fell in love but were ruthlessly driven apart by Nicole’s father. Adam believed that Nicole would wait for him but to his surprise learns about her upcoming marriage and he quickly turns bitter and wants revenge. Ten years later, after striving & succeeding in the hotel resort business, Adam is a hotel magnet with the sole goal in life of sinking Nicole’s father business. After her father dies, Adam is out for revenge against Nicole herself. When he sees her for the first time in years, he realizes he still has feelings for her. However, his plan has already been set in motion. Can they have a second chance? Or has anger and revenge ruined any chance of a relationship between them?

This story has a lot of sex, like a lot. I wish there was a little more depth & character building before they resumed their relationship. After ten years apart, I had hoped they would get to know each other again and work out all their issues (including Adam stopping all his revenge plans) but things turned physical as soon as they saw each other again. It was just a bit too quick for me to believe. And then we are left with Adam stuck in some kind a revenge-limbo state where he isn’t sure what to do or how to extract himself from his plans.

The series has promise and I would read the next books in the series since I’ve already been introduced to the characters. I’m hoping we get me insight and relationship re-building in the next books and that is the only flaw I felt the story had because I did enjoy the premise of the book and I enjoyed the passion/steam it had. I received an ARC in exchange from Netgalley in exchange for my honest opinion.

The Revenge Game is billed as an enemies to lovers story but I feel it is more of a second chance romance. Adam and Nicole we boyfriend and girlfriend ten years ago. Things did not work out because Adam was deemed as not good enough by Nicole's father. Adam vowed revenge against her father. First order of business, take her father's hotel, then his empire. Things were progressing until the father dies and Nicole is left in charge. She confronts him about his under handed tactics and wants to call a truce.

This was a bit all over the place for me. The chemistry these two shared was very evident from the start. But there were left over feelings on both sides, and I thought the premise to start up a relationship of benefits was odd-especially with just seeing each other after ten years. With all the leftover hurt feelings, there was no way for those two to just shove their past aside and start fresh. Not to mention the plans on both had in motion. Adam's main issue was with ruining Nicole's father-not her, and he was a bit late in realizing that he didn't want to hurt her. She had been the CEO for awhile now, so I felt it was not believable to me that he wouldn't have stopped this vendetta sooner. Or at least alter his plans somewhat.

I received a gifted copy of the book by the publisher through NetGalley. The rating and review are my opinion.

This story is about Adam and Nicole and their second chance at romance.
They fell in love the summer that Adam was chauffeur for Nicole’s father Maurice Westmore a big hotel tycoon. When her father catches them together, Adam gets fired and sent away and they loose touch. 10 years later Adam is now a rich hotel tycoon and are close to getting his revenge over the Westmore family when Nicole seeks him out at a wedding and they end up spending the night together. After that night things happen that might change his mind and also give Nicole a second chance.
There was a lot in this book that could have been written differently and all the background story didn’t have to be written into the story like it was. It was kind of doubly written which was weird. It was like the story wasn’t long enough so the author needed to fill the pages with something.
What I loved was Adam and Nicole together and that week they spend together where they grow closer and they discover how they fell about each other. But misunderstanding, hurt feelings, insecurities and stupidities separates them again which really annoyed me. Adam redeems himself in the end though and steps up to be the bigger man.

The Revenge Game has Adam Morrow determined to have his revenge against rival hotel group Westmore. Having being a poor boy working on the Westmore family estate he fell in love with the Westmore daughter Nicola. She promised to wait for him when he left for college but on learning she was to marry someone else his future was set, he becomes a self made millionaire and hotel owner determined to grind the opposition it to the ground after how he was treated.
Meeting up with Nicola after 10years he is determined to ignore her and carry on with his plans but she has other ideas and after kidnapping him their passion returns.
A readable enough romance lots of sex but little depth and plot, really Adams chip on his shoulder took some budging and he wasn’t exactly innocent in how events turned out. The ending tied everything up nicely but light on any drama.
I voluntary read and reviews an ARC of this book and all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Adam wants revenge but can he follow through with it?

Nicole Westmore had fallen in love with Adam Morrow ten years before when he worked for her father for the summer while he was getting his MBA but when her father found out they had fallen in love, he was fired immediately. Adam decided to best her father at his own game and started up his own high end hotel company with a secret investor. His final planned revenge was taking over Westmore Hotels even though her father had died and she now ran the company. Nicole decided to try and change his mind about the takeover because she had already had plans with the company on a new property.

Nicole and Adam had fallen in love ten years ago and when they find out the sparks are still there when Nicole tracks Adam down at a wedding of a mutual friend but Adam’s want for revenge almost ruins everything.

Reunited lovers when there is some hate on one side cause a lot of sparks in the romance.

This second chance romance was okay, but not great. There was a lack of dimension in both characters and the plot, while interesting, seemed a bit too bogged down. Adam and Nicole, our main characters, could have used a bit more substance and maybe a little less time spent in the bedroom.
Yup, there’s a lot of sex in this book, while isn’t a problem in general. But I wish they’d gotten to know each other a little better after 10 years apart...and that they had more to their relationship other than physical compatibility.
And while I’d usually be excited to read the subsequent books that will be about Adam’s two friends in the Player’s Club, Gaines didn’t give me enough positive info about either of them to make me even a bit interested. They seem as jaded and one dimensional as Adam was for most of this book. I gave it 3 stars, which now seems high after reading my own review. Probably closer to a 2.75.

10 years back Alex and Nicole were in love with each other, but didn’t get their HEA and Alex blames Nicole and her dad for it, and plans his revenge, taking over her dads hotels.
Present day, Nicole is incharge of the Westmore Hotels after her fathers death, and plans to confront Alex and appeal to his sense of fairness.
Their chemistry is still off the charts, and Alex’s attempt to have a one night stand with Nicole to work her out of his system backfires badly.
I feel this book had the potential to be a superb read, but fell short. For instance I didn’t get Alex’s reasons for being as angry at Nicole as he was. The chemistry is super hot and their romance was good but I would have liked a little more depth to their relationship. The series look promising and I hope Ryan and Grants are 5 star reads.

One of my favorite tropes, man who thinks he's been wronged and makes exacting plans to seek that revenge on whoever he paints the bullseye on, whether it's their fault or not. Well the blurb for this book of course reeled me right in.
I thought the plot was great and the backstory filled in well however I really wanted more character development between these two and honestly didn't expect them to hook up so early in the story. Having said that, they seem to fall into the same pattern of behavior throughout and I felt like the story never really went anywhere, plot stall in a big way. I couldn't relate the either character and that's unusual for me also. I just needed more, but that's me. I'm sure everyone else will enjoy this read. It rates a low 3 for me.

The Revenge Game is about Adam and Nicole- one a former chauffer and one the daughter of a hotel magnate. Their young love was thwarted by her father and now Adam is rich, successful and out to ruin Nicole and her company. The sparks between the two of them were very strong and had magic but the backstory was a bit of a mess. I didnt get the reason why they were pulled apart or why either of them made the decisions that they did. I think the backstory section would have worked better as a full chapter and not piecemeal throughout. I did love the ending and the nod to Notting Hill.

How I loved the reconnection between Adam and Nicole. To see the differences in their personas from ten years prior was so important to their story. Nicole grew from a meek, sheltered young lady to a stronger, independent woman ready to fight for her company. Adam is this strong, fighter alpha male who goes for what he wants, leaving personal emotions aside. But dang if the man does not have a few sexy and sweet surprises up his sleeve. Their reuniting was hot, intense, and perfect. I am glad the drama was not as heavy as it could have been. And I totally laughed and loved Adam and his friends scenes. I want more from them.

This is an entertaining and sexy romance that I enjoyed reading. Nicole is the "poor little rich girl" in danger of losing everything, while Adam is the boy from her past. Both were traumatized by their breakup, however, Adam was so hurt by it that he dedicated his career to destroying Nicole's company.

The characters are a bit predictable and I wish they'd had more depth. Instead of adding depth, there is lots of very hot sex.

This is the first novel I've read by this author and I love the premise she's based this series on. So, while I'd give this book a solid three stars, I'm looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Nicole Westmore is trying to take back her birthright. Westmore Hotels has been struggling for years and after the death of her father she is ill prepared for the role of CEO. Yet she is pushing to succeed and is willing to take chances.
Adam Morrow is a self made millionaire and is it for revenge. His goal: Take down Westmore Hotels. Only issue it's no longer run by his nemesis, it's being held together by his first love. How can you let go of broken promises after ten years of planning? Can forgiveness and the connection the have for each other truly overcome their past? Or will forces beyond them keep them apart just after they've finally found reach other again..

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an review for.

These two had me cracking up. Adam is a self made rich man putting all his business efforts into revenge to make up for the past. Nicole is the focus of his revenge after they fell in love a decade ago and her dad's meddled. The sparks explode when you get the two in the same room making it obvious the past is not dead but can she convince him to live her instead of destroying her. A past history romance that will suck you in as it all plays out. Great for fans of contemporary romance. I really liked it so I give it 4/5 stars.

This is a voluntary review of an advanced copy.

After prologue, I was expecting hear how Nicole ripped Adam's heart out but when you actually hear what happened, you find that they both were at fault and Adam really only had reason to hate Nicole's father not her!

Not a big fan of the instant sex so was disappointed that after ten years, they jumped back into bed the first night. I also could not believe that Adam would approve Vivien's plan to buy the stock! He knew that would hurt Nicole and yet he went along with it.

The only redeeming part of the book was the end where Adam woke up and saved the day, and the wedding at the end.

Adam and Nicole have a history with each other. After ten years they have to decide if their is also a future. Nicole is trying to save the company her father left her from being taken from her. She is reserved but determined to succeed. Adam used his dislike of Nicole’s father to drive him to succeed. He wants to take the company to prove that he is good enough. When they meet again the sparks are still in full flame and they have decisions to make. A fun a flirty story filled with lots of steam.
