When four college students set out into the swamps in search of the elusive Louisiana black bear, they find more than they bargained for. Now, one of them is missing and the others are stranded without a boat in the alligator-invested wilderness.
When one of the concerned parents calls the Mechant Loup Police Department, Clint and Melvin begin searching for the overdue group. Their search takes them deep into the swamps and late into the night, and it isn’t long before Clint develops a foreboding feeling of déjà vu. This dreaded feeling only grows more intense as the investigation progresses, and Clint is left wondering if this incident is connected to a case he worked nearly two decades ago.
If Clint is not careful, he might find out...the hard way.

Four college students went to camp in the swampy areas of Devils Island. They didn't return when they were supposed to so missing persons were reported. So begins many days and night searching for kidnapped victims.
Pains me to give this book four stars, I really had to. As one person wrote, in her review, it had too much details of gore and she had to skim over it. I should have! Especially, when the killer is giving details, on how and why he killed. TMI!!! I did enjoy reading about Clint's rookie days. He does have a way of deliberating the clues, and piecing the mystery together. I missed all the characters working together, in Mechant Loup, solving a crime. Dog, wife, Clint, friends, and all the side characters that make BJ's books so special! I only have a few books left, before I start on his other series. But I have to tell you, it will be hard, to leave the Clint Wolf series and move on. I would recommend all books written by BJ Bourg. Once you start, you will be addicted, like me! Again, I would like to thank BJ Bourg, for having his books in Kindle Unlimited.
Another change to the “multiple murders” format of most police procedurals, and it’s a compelling one. This time, a missing person may have been taken by… Big Foot?
I love a good cryptid tale, and this one is fun for believers and non-believers. We continue to learn more about our favorite characters (which I really love about this series), and the plot spends a few chapters in the past, revealing a possible link between past and current crimes while shining a light on how Clint came to be a detective.
It’s not often I find a series that keeps me engaged for so many books, but this one does. This twelfth installment offers some truly chilling atmospheric descriptions along with a pulse-pounding plot and a diabolical villain. The climax is nothing short of jaw-dropping. Was it Big Foot? I’ll just say you never know what you’ll find in the desolate islands and dark swamps of Louisiana.
Pirate gold I could live with but Bigfoot - gimme a break. Twelve books in and we've hit that point where the author, B. J. Bourg, is running out of ideas and grabbing whatever comes to hand. Back when Clint Wolf first became a policeman there was a peculiar abduction of a woman by a very tall man. Many years later a young woman has been taken in the bayou. Her three friends, camping with her, can't explain her disappearance, but ascribe it to Bigfoot. It's not great - it's not bad - but it just isn't up to the standard of the series. 3 Stars.
'But Not Forboding' was quite the creative story. Once I started, I literally did not put it down. This quick read held my attention from the first page. I enjoyed looking into what events brought Clint to where and how he is today. Very thrilling, suspenseful and full of action. Definitely a must read.
OMG, THIS WAS EDGE OF YOUR SEAT, TALK OUT LOUD ONE. I'VE BEEN ON THE EDGE BEFORE WHEN I WAS READING A CLINT WOLF BOOK BUT EHIS ONE HAD ME NERVOUS. THIS IS BK#12 FOR ME AND IT'S A DOOZY, YIKES! I WAS PROUD OF MYSELF FOR FIGURING OUT WHY THE KILLER WAS KILLING (besides being cray-cray) OH WOW, I LOVED, LOVED THIS ONE. ;D
But Not Foreboding kept my heart racing right up to the end. I don’t want to give anything away, however, after two girls disappeared on a bayou camping trip. Clint gets called into a dangerous search which leads back to his first case while a trainee. Suffice it to say this time Clint gets more than eaten alive by mosquitoes.
Clint has had a 3 month period of no major crime when he gets a call about some overdue young adults. They had gone into the swamp to look for black bears instead discovering big foot. One young lady is missing starting an adventure reminding Clint of a similar case from years before. Fast paced action packed novel.
I love books by B. J. Bourg but not this one. It is too far fetched and too dark for me. Chasing Bigfoot through the swamps is one thing but the ending is too wild. If I had known what Bigfoot was about I would have passed this one by.
Should've left this one in his head and never put it in a novel. This is the last one of his the I will try to read. (Got so disgusted with it that I skipped several chapters to end my pain faster.)
Enjoyed the book but it was so slow in the beginning almost th the end. I had many start and stops to get through the book. Very disappointed that there was no audio available. I almost didn’t read it.
I have read BJ Bourg's books 1-12. I feel this plot was really stretching the imagination. Seems like he had difficult coming up with a believable story line. I will probably not continue the series.
This is probably the 11th book of this author that I have read. It was a pretty interesting story but quite gory with the perpetrator engaged in cannibalism. Looking forward to his next book.
Captivated from beginning to end. Clint squeaks by again. Love they rapped up a case from previous book. Best part was getting to see hoe he got his love for detective worm. Props Mr. Bourg on another well written book.
Was fine. Just couldn’t get into this book. I skipped a lot of chapters just to finish it. Not sure if it just wasn’t a story I was into or if this series is dying for me. If the next one is boring I may take a break from this series and come back later.
This book started out strong, dragged a bit in the middle, but had a strong finish. Overall, I enjoyed the story and look forward to the next installment.
I almost wish I had waited until tomorrow for this one, it might give me nightmares! Almost fell off the couch during the last part! Awesome storyline!
