After dying in a fight against the forces of evil, a knight is shocked to discover that instead of being reborn as a hero of humanity, he starts his new life as a behemoth-one of the most powerful monsters in the world! The only problem is that a baby behemoth looks an awful lot like...an adorable house cat?! Things grow even more confusing when a beautiful elf adventurer rescues him from the brink of death rather than finishing him off. This house-cat-slash-knight's baffling journey is just getting started...
tbh, this is a very meh book. Not much here. The gay jokes really fall flat and the writing is about as on par with what I would expect from a middleschool student. TBH, I thought the light novel would be ok because the manga isn't half bad. I think I'll be sticking to the manga from here on out though. For once, I'm happy with the things that are left out in the manga.
So the major sticking point of this light novel that struck me was the protagonist is a knight stuck in the body of a baby behemoth. He is befriended by a well endowed elf, and adventures happen. Sounds simple, right? Right. Except said elf decides at one point that she wants to have sex with said behemoth cub. And here is where we run into some issues. Yes, it is a grown man inside the mind of the behemoth cub, but it is still an animal, and is still a child. Now, later on when she realizes the protagonist is sentient and can communicate in some fashion, this passes the Harkness Test for the most part. (except the cub thing) But until she discovers that, she still takes advantage of the protagonist and molests him while in her mind, he's just a simple animal.
Now, many can shrug it off as simple etchi fun, but it is really hard to get past while reading those scenes. I have read a lot of light novels and this is the only one that gave me severe pause while reading as I wondered how this got translated in the western world and how someone green lit it. More so when they explained the tiger-girl's species as something that is the actual product of people having sex with animals... So I will let you unpack that. (there is even a skill that the protagonist unlocks that will allow him to impregnate the elf later on...) I will say that no actual sex happens on screen, and all you get is the typical light novel/anime lewd scenes and that is it.
So other than that uncomfortable subject matter, the rest of the book is pretty much standard light novel fare. There isn't a whole lot new to it, and nothing really pushes the boundaries when it comes to things you don't see in other light novels. The characters are interesting, and the elf and tiger-girl play off of each other really well. (elf is super fast but inexperienced, tiger is super strong and experienced) The ending was REALLY rushed, and felt very deus ex machina.
In the end, this would have been a three star book. Okay, but not great. Add in the very questionable content and I reduced it to two stars. I did get the second book in the series to see if it improves, but I am honestly not expecting much. Honestly, there are other light novels out there that are better, so perhaps skip this one and find one of them...
First and foremost I want to ask why people are bashing this book? For the life of me I don’t understand what it takes for people to see a Parental Advisory tag and think “this book is going to be wholesome and definitely NOT ouch boundaries”.
I for one enjoyed the hell out of this book, the concept was great and the the characters had unique, albeit at time disturbing, personalities. Maybe it’s because I read many and many books that are LEAGUES more explicit than this but I hope this series continues and delves deeper into depravity!
When I read a book I don't mind it's very have romance love scenes in the book this book is just so perverted and not an okay type of perverted but way over the top type of topics, an example in one part the elf girl declares that when her pet cat grows up she is going to want him to take her virginity. I did not enjoy this book biggest waste of $8 since I started buying books on the kindle
The overall idea for this light novel is very interesting. Who wouldn’t like reading about an overpowered main character seen as an less powerful being? However, I didn’t like how every two paragraphs (and about half the book) does nothing more than emphasizes Aira’s and the other girls’ boobs and body. Nothing more than male fan service.
honestly it is bad. battles are written really badly characters are uninteresting and basically writed as a walking breasts. and whole book is just a badly written sex joke that gets booring really fast.
I'm not the target audience for this, I hate isekai but I read out of curiosity. Art is the only reason why it scored points. It is a very silly premise that borders on questionable themes with animals... If you are a fan of the ridiculousness and easy-to-consume fun, this is probably more your style.
Different from most i died then got reincarnated stories. It still has the issue of he wants to be a good male human who doesn't fancy his female elf owner BUT the thing she wants him. The reason why she is into cats so much that she wants to have "meow meow" time with them is explained in part of "Aria's Side Story". The story is good with or without knowing why she is into cats.
I do think that it is setting it up for the behemoth and the elf girl to get together in a interspecies relationship thingy. Maybe not maybe so. I will buy and read volume 2 of the light novel when it comes out in english.
The demographic of this book is definitely geared toward young men.
This isn’t an isekai novel. Yes, the Mc is reincarnated, but he was from the same world in which it takes place.
The sexual thoughts for the aria, the female mc, are ones I’ve typically not seen. She doesn’t like men. She has thoughts of beastiality. Yes, certain species can crossbreed with human/oids in this world. There’s a whole short story that explains why she feels this way at the end of the book.
The storyline is typical of the genre. Demons, labyrinths, and so on.
All in all, if you aren’t offended by blatant usage of the term melons, side boob, and the beastial thoughts, then you’ll enjoy the book.

Even for a power fantasy isekai-like litRPG (JRPG) book it was overpowered, boring and the ecchi stuff a bit too over the top for me to like it... and that is coming from somebody whose guilty pleasure contains similar kinds of stories.
This is pretty terrible. The ecchi angle which is spewed throughout is not even mediocre. A lot of melons this, melons that with little variation—juvenile schlock...
