Married to my high school sweetheart, I live on a farm in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia with my human family and furbabies. An avid gardener, I grow herbs and heirloom flowers and use them in my stories. The rich history of Virginia, the Native Americans (especially the Shawnee), and the Scots-Irish are at the heart of my inspiration. My English, Scottish, and Scots-Irish ancestors were among the earliest settlers in America. I write historical romance set in the colonial frontier, the American Revolution, Georgian England, and 20th century America. I like a good ghost story, so some of my historical romances have paranormal and ghosts in them. In addition to historical romance and Native American/Western romance, I write time travel romance (some are Scottish time travels), Young Adult wolf shapeshifter paranormal sci-fi fantasy romance, New Adult fantasy paranormal time slip romance back and forth to the American Revolution, the Civil War, and World War 1… I also have nonfiction about gardening, herbs, and country life.

The Panther Moon is the third book in the Secret Warrior series by Beth Trissel. The series introduced Morgan Daniel and her younger brother who had been in witness protection after witnessing a gang murder but went on the run. They found themselves in the middle of the woods where there is a whole world out there that they didn't know existed and they are a huge part of.

Each books has picked up after the last has ended full of action and adventure. Also introducing new elements in each to further along this paranormal adventure. There's been shifters, aliens, witches, vampires and much more packed into the story to keep the reader's interest along the way.

Stepping into this world of legends and curses has certainly been fun with each book that came along. The story grew along with the characters and I certainly enjoyed continuing to read each book not knowing what would come next.

Definitely a series to pick up from the beginning although each has give a bit a back story to catch up to where it picked up. Great young adult paranormal series I'd recommend checking out.

This series just keeps on getting better! Despite it being months since I read the previous book in this series, it was so easy to reconnect with the brilliant characters and recalling the events. To me that is indicative of a brilliant author, especially if you consider just how many books I’ve read in the intervening time!

Having escaped gangsters endeavouring to prevent them testifying against their boss, Morgan and her younger brother discovered their secret heritage and a prophecy which centre around her and her abilities. I loved the first two books in this series and jumped at the opportunity to read an ARC of this, the third book in the series. In this one, Morgan is exploring and refining her developing skills but danger still lurks all around them. There were already were-coyotes, were-panthers and a were-bear involved in this series but as Chief Okema disappears, the protective magic around the Wapicoli territory starts to fail. This necessitates Morgan and Jackson taking over leadership of the group and to face new dangers from unforeseen foes and to receive assistance from unexpected sources!

This is an action packed story but it has many humorous moments that had me laughing out loud. The relationships between all the main characters are brilliantly portrayed, especially between the siblings. There are intriguing threads of Native American history and beliefs that add so much and make this a unique series as far as I am concerned - as does the Thunderbird and the soon to hatch gift (I can’t wait to learn more about that, but won’t say more as I don’t want to give any real spoilers!). Add in the Star People to this enthralling mix and you've also a science fiction element, too!

I’m loving this whole series and have no hesitation in highly recommending it to anyone who enjoys action packed paranormal adventures with a wide range of shifters, aliens and so much more!

This is a wonderful continuation of the story. I love how Jackson grows into a leader in this. How he learns about his heritage and starts to embrace it more. How he begins to show more emotion with Morgan and more encouragement to Jimmy.

Okema is missing in this book. This has Jackson needing to step up as leader. As this is occurring, enemies are surrounding them and a new one comes about. Morgan is gaining strength in her powers and her brother is growing sweeter and more confident. Now Jackson and the gang are off to get Jackson crowned for lack of a better term so he can feel that this change in leadership is more real.

Along the way Morgan’s powers manifest into her hearing from the divining tree and the ones who gifted her the necklace. We see the exploration of power and leadership shine in this book. We still have the great Narnia, Lord of the Rings and Star wars references throughout. The loyal group of friends and family and the fun and rambunctious Jimmy. Was so excited and happy when Jimmy got the approval of his Uncle and to see the Uncle change for good.

The group as they leave the house of Radu run into some danger. Danger that has them face a new enemy and Morgan facing her uncle. Her Uncle changes dramatically here. He is at a crossroads and in the end takes the right one.

Once upon the tree, more pieces to the puzzle are revealed to Morgan on their destiny. Jackson and her are meant to be for me but they are also blessed. They are accepted and given gifts of power. Morgan is more powerful than Jackson but it is only together that they can beat the enemies and keep peace. We learn that her brother is more than he seems as is Jackson and Hawthorne. As the battle with enemies draws closer we see Morgan and Jackson get closer and him begin to admit his desires more. We see him show Morgan his fears and feelings but also open up to her about what he is going through. We see Jackson have so much trust in Morgan and the other and this is why they are loyal to him. We see the respect he has for his people and Morgan. He supports Morgan and believes that they are equals. When the battle emerges we see the danger everyone is in and the sacrifices that are made. We see new alliances come about in the end and more danger be seen for the future.

The story is fast paced, full of danger and intrigue and has you on your toes. You will smile at Jimmy and his phrases and enthusiasm. Have joy over the growth of Jackson and Morgan and how they are growing closer and becoming more of a team. Gain respect for this tribe and their loyalty and be on your toes with all the different twists and the danger that this group of loyal and complex characters face. Even though we get a good ending things are still in the air for there are still dangers out there and a prophecy to fulfill. A wonderfully written action packed story that truly keeps you engaged until the end as you watch Morgan and Jackson come into their own and grow more as they face their enemies and their future of who they will be. Beth Trissel does a great job of balancing the romance, growth and danger as the characters begin to come into their own and come into more power and are faced with danger and unknowns that would have most run away but they face it head on with humour and loyalty to one another . Excited to see where these characters will go next and the way they deal with what happens around them or to them.

This book is the third in the series. The first book being The Hunter's Moon and the second being Curse of The Moon. This review is a review of the series.

The books start off with the typical damsel in distress where the hot guy knows all about what happens to her on her birthday, she is a werewolf, and she is part of a prophecy that includes him. I am truly a sucker for these types of stories!

These stories include Native American and American history which I find really interesting because even though there are some books out there with Native American back tones (Mercy Thompson) and American History back tones (Beautiful Creatures), I rarely get both in a book. There is a lot of magic and mystery in the back stories so the author does a good job of keeping me interested.

There is a pretty good mix of shape-shifters in this series. There are werewolves, were-panthers, and thunder-birds which by the way, I have NEVER read a book with thunder-birds.So, the author popped my cherry on that. It is a very interesting mix and the characters are developed easily.

I felt the relationship between Morgan and Jackson came a little to easily and quickly. I mean, this is the reason I only made it through 4 chapters of Charlaine Harris Sookie Stackhouse series because her relationship with Bill started before I got out of Chapter 2. However, I know it was part of the prophecy and needed to happen the way it did in order for the story to progress the way it does. So, it wasn't a series killer for me.

The second book starts right into where book one leaves off. There is a lot going on! The book is very action packed and there are more relatives introduced in this immensely complex world Morgan and her younger brother are thrust into. A witch makes a appearance in this book that kidnaps Morgan's younger brother so she has to save him. There is some pretty good humor dropped in this book which is always so refreshing. I find it very interesting that the witch's' name is Lilith and that she is a lizard witch. Well, because Lilith is said to be Adam's first wife. That she was created at the same time as Adam. She was cast out of The Garden of Eden because she would not be subservient to Adam and had had relations with the Archangel Samael, And, the snake came to trick Eve and I always believed it was Lilith's jealousy of Adam and Eve that she went to Lucifer and Lucifer instead sent Lilith as a snake (these are my own opinions). And, there are some legends that tell the story that Lilith was the first vampire! So a lizard witch named Lilith made my day!

Book three continues along in the world they are immersed in. Morgan and Jackson are thrown into roles they are unfamiliar with as they try to take down the coyote-shifters. There is more action, more adventure, and more magic. These books don't stop from beginning to end. I enjoyed them immensely. A solid 4 stars!

My Review
4 Roses

The final installment of this series is by far the best, and ended well.

The build-up to the last chapter was intense, and I wasn't able to let out my pent-up breath til the last page. The entire book ended the story very well, and rounded the other two books out. I loved the increased humor, and was glad the action and feel from the first two books increased as well.

Morgan deepened into a character I truly came to enjoy following, and I was glad to see her grow up so much. Her relationship with Jackson was interesting throughout the trilogy, and it was good to see him grow as a character as well.

Through part of the book, I really wasn't sure which direction the author would take this story. It kept me guessing, and I didn't want to put it down until I'd finished the whole thing.

Dare I say, this is a series I will be reading again. I've found myself thinking about it randomly the past few months, and very much enjoyed the adventure over all.

I would recommend this series to others, but would definitely recommend reading the first two books in the series before enjoying this one.

I received this book for an honest review.
I will start by saying that the humor in this book is great. Somethings had me laughing out loud. Again the relationship between sister and brother is a joy to read about. They have extended their "family" to include many colorful characters.
The fight is on in this book..good vs evil. Who will win? Who is allies with who..some you may be surprised, others not so much. Anyone for Star People? Things that make the phrase "beam me Scotty" pop into your head? This book has it all.
Can two such young people lead their people? Take care of their people without the help of a much loved and respected elder? Defend against the worst kind of evil?
All I can say is this...read this book. Tell your friends about it. Spread the word! Beth has written yet another amazing story that needs to be read by more people. Truly a wonderful story told by a very talented story teller.

In this last installment of the Secret Warrior Series, Morgan continues to grow in power as the Seventh Morcant. The tribe has accepted her as their co-leader along with Jackson, her soul mate and future leader of the tribe. Morgan is essential to the survival of the Wapicoli Tribe because Okema, the ancient and magical Chief has disappeared taking his magic with him. The conflict between the warring factions is imminent, and the wolf pack needs all the help they can get.

Jackson grows as a character in this volume, and the reader begins to understand the formidable task he has ahead of him. Doubts cloud his direction, but through Morgan’s love and understanding, they agree to share the burden of managing the tribe together. I liked that both characters had doubts about their abilities. It made them human and believable at the same time.

This series, and particularly this final book is filled with fast action and quick dialogue. There’s the Panteras to worry about, and the coyote shifters are a constant threat. Throw in a few vampires, and you’ve got all the excitement a wolf-girl can handle. If Morgan can summon all the blue magic she needs in time to do battle, the tribe has a chance.

The relationship between Morgan and her brother, Jimmy reminded me of the banter between my kids long ago. This is another thing I enjoy about this author’s style of writing. She breathes life into fantastical creatures and characters that will leave you wanting more.

If you haven’t read the first two books, I would suggest backtracking to read them. The ancient culture of the Wapicoli Tribe and the historical tidbits found throughout this book and the series are some of my favorites, and you will need this background information to follow the events that unfold in the final volume. I do wonder if the series will expand to include further adventures into the lives of Morgan and Jackson and the Wapicoli Tribe. I sure hope so.

This is a supernatural fantasy for young adults, but I’ve got to tell you I enjoyed it more than The Twilight series. I loved the wolf pack and the sense of family portrayed in this novel. Yet, it was the Native American mythology that I loved best.

This book continues the story of Morgan as she learns to become a strong seventh Morcant. This time the group seems to be up against an impossible force and in fights with several groups. Also, they have lost the direction of Okema the leader of their group.

I don't feel this can be read as a standalone novel, I felt like there were a lot of references to the other two books and you would need to know important stuff from the other books. I also highly suggest reading the first two books as they are short and quick reads that help make one complete story.

I really enjoy reading more about Jackson in this book. I feel like Jackson is coming into this own now. We get to see that he is not sure how to go forward in his life and take the power. Everyone is trying to encourage him to take the lead, but he just isn't sure. Jackson decides to make a co-leadership with Morgan. I feel like in this book he still isn't positive he is ready to take charge and has more growing to do in the future.

The author did a great job with all of the details in the book again. I felt like as a reader I can fully visualize what the author is trying to describe. The details really make you feel like you are part of the book while you are reading.

I hope that this story will continue on and we get to learn more about what Morgan and Jackson are truly up against. The author has a lot of options available on how to continue and I can't wait to see how the story goes.

I would suggest this as a nighttime read it is a great book to unwind with. I felt like the story was easy to follow along with as well easy enough to put down and pick back up while reading.

I received a copy of this book from Beth Trissel for the purpose of providing an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.

There is more action, more characters, a new threat, and a fatality in this edition of the series. You will have to read it to find out if the fatality is a foe or friend!

Morgan is growing in her powers. Jackson is still reluctant to be the new Chief one day. The humor is plentiful with Jimmy and Hawthorne. There is a new creature too. I can’t wait to see what happens with it!!

The romance takes a back seat in this edition with all the fighting and plotting. I kind of missed it though!
