The 16-Word Sales Letter™: A proven method of writing multi-million-dollar copy faster than you ever thought possible

Advanced Praise for The 16-Word Sales Letter™

“This is the book I've been waiting for. For years, I've been asking myself: How can a guy whose native language is not even English be one of the best U.S. copywriters in history? Now I have the answer... nicely reduced to a simple, understandable formula. And the best thing is that it’s a usable formula. Anyone seriously interested in copywriting should discover Evaldo's secret.” —Bill Bonner, Founder of Agora.

“It’s not often that I come upon a copywriting strategy that feels new to me. And even less frequently do I encounter one that is both new and exciting. Evaldo Albuquerque’s “16 Word Sales Letter™” is such a strategy. I’m going to recommend this as a must-read to all my copywriting proteges.” —Mark Ford, best-selling author and chief growth strategist for Agora.

“Evaldo is the world’s greatest copywriter you’ve never heard of. Why haven’t you heard of him? Because while others are selfpromoting ... heck, while they’re eating, sleeping and relaxing... he’s cranking out the next blockbuster. He never stops. He’s a 9-figure sales machine and our business’s secret weapon. This book is your blueprint to how the machine dominates. Read it and put it into action. Your royalty check will thank you.” —Peter Coyne, founder of Paradigm Press, Agora Financial’s largest imprint

“I'm recommending this book to everyone in my company, and making it required reading for all new hires. When it comes to books on "writing" I try to read everything new, and no matter how many books I pick up, I rarely find any ideas that are innovative (or even useful), but this book shattered my expectations—I found page after page packed with fresh ideas. It's engaging to read, and very easy to implement the writing techniques. “Evaldo has uncovered a new way to write sales copy that is perfect for today's buyers; I really love this book, and after you turn the first two pages, you'll see exactly why. It’s a must-read primer for anyone who writes sales copy…. Read this book—and learn from one of the best.” —Oren Klaff, best-selling author of Pitch Anything and Flip the Script

“Few people know his name. Yet, those at the highest levels of direct response advertising consider Evaldo Albuquerque the Michael Jordan of modern financial copywriting. His new book, The 16 Word Sales Letter™, reveals for the first time the secret to his astonishing success. In split tests, the selling formula Evaldo reveals in his book has won, repeatedly, against ad copy written by the world’s top copywriters. When asked at a recent seminar I gave what are the two best books I’ve ever read on copywriting, my answer was Breakthrough Advertising by Eugene Schwartz and The 16 Word Sales Letter™ by Evaldo Albuquerque.” —Caleb O’Dowd

The 16-Word Sales Letter™ is a copy system that has generated over $120 million dollars for Agora Financial in the last two years alone.

It’s a simple formula that could help you generate millions in online sales... No matter how competitive your niche is….No matter what kind of product or service you’re selling…And no matter your level of experience.

That’s because it can not only help you identify a new big idea for your market, but also help you structure your sales message for maximum emotional impact.

And now, for the first time ever, Evaldo Albuquerque is revealing the details of this system in this brand-new book.

One of my coaching students mentioned this book to me and as soon as she said it was "written by one of the top copywriters at Agora", I knew I had to buy this book.
Over the last 20 years, I've read most of the top copywriting books, taken the top courses and written my share of sales copy, (including infomercial scripts which generated 9 figures) and I can categorically say that this is the best book for laying down your initial "draft" of a sales page, video script, VSL, or ad copy and then "filling in" with additional sales copy elements.
The 10 questions are genius because they follow the "logical / emotional" flow of any buying decision and it almost gives you an unfair advantage in writing high-quality copy that converts.
The various stories and examples work to flesh out each element in a great way, while also not overloading you with fluff. (written like a true copywriter!)
I'm a coach for a high-end coaching program and I've probably recommended this book to 100 of my coaching students, so far. It really is that good.

I've known about Evaldo's process for a year or so, but didn't realize he had written a book about it. So when I discovered the book, I bought it immediately and read it in 24 hours.

The 16-Word Sales Letter process is excellent. Evaldo includes copy examples from his winning packages to demonstrate the techniques.

Each chapter opens with a story that ties in with that chapter's lesson. My only (minor) complaint is that some of the opening stories are pedestrian fare: moon landing, Einstein, Hitler.

To his credit, a couple of the opening stories are unique (like the Heaven's Gate story, which I remember vividly from the late 1990s).

Anyway, I didn't buy the book for the story hooks, I bought it for the actual copywriting process. And in that category, the book really shines. I do plan to re-read this and apply Evaldo's process to my own copywriting projects.

Book is... Well, it's fine. Worth reading for sure.
Especially because it's really short.

But if you are looking for something groundbreaking you won't find it here.
Though, it's a good, if the not really good 'script/scheme' for writing your new copy.

4-stars are there because the author and his colleagues/friends are hyping up his name as much as possible.
This book is mainly a pre-sale into some other stuff Evaldo and/or Agora will have to offer.
And you should know much more about copywriting before using a technique from the book.

Also, those $100+ million numbers are not achieved only because of the copy.
Every experienced marketer knows that there is much more besides the copy, but that needs to be repeated many times as I have noticed.

Anyways, worth reading and at least trying to write one of your next copies following his outlined idea from this book.

This would have been a 4-star “book” if not for what I regard as serious ethical problems. But first, let me tell you what it is and what’s good about it.

This is more of an outline for writing sales copy than an actual book. It presents a model that’s the author’s compilation of a few other people’s models, and I think it could be very effective and save time in writing a sales page.

One thing that shocked me is the author said he used to spend two months writing one sales page! I was getting down on myself for taking 10 hours to write one. Using this system, he got it down to two weeks, though. Huzzah?

Pros:
- This guy is an extremely persuasive writer and this system is based on other systems that I know work well, and he’s sure made a lot more money than I have!
- It’s a short read
- I think the structure would work and be pretty easy to implement

Cons:
- The author seems to have no concept of ethics. In one section, he talks about how powerful the “us vs. them” mentality is, encourages the reader to include it in their sales copy, specifically using the example of Hitler as one to emulate. What?!

I can’t argue that the guy was persuasive, but I would think that would serve as a cautionary tale, not an example to follow.

The author also gave an example of how he used Republicans’ hatred of Democrats to add divisiveness to our society and sell [I don’t know what]. To me, all that “us vs. them” stuff is the worst thing that’s going wrong in our country. Do you not worry about making the world a worse place? Is it worth it to do so, just to make a buck?

This model is mostly a simplified version of one I already knew from Russell Brunson, so I probably will use the good parts. But if I see this author coming, I’ll cross to the other side of the street.

After devouring this book, I was curious as to whether the author had written anything else, so I looked him up on Amazon and was shocked to see this “book” listed for $39.99! It reads like a free lead magnet, so I assumed that’s what it was. If I had paid $40 for it, I’d be PISSED.

Inspiring on so many levels!

If you're a copywriter you must read this book! I'm tempted to say you should memorize it, but that's not realistic. So memorize the structure.
Study it.

I began immediately applying the principles on a sales letter I was writing.

Evaldo's book has more value per word then most I've read, and I've read many!

Good Read On Crafting Copy

This was a good book on crafting copy. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because it didn’t seem to offer true originality. Most of the concepts seemed borrowed and I found the title a bit misleading. But I liked the conciseness and layout of the book.

Would rate it 10 if I could!
A short read full of golden nuggets.
The definition of infotainment without unnecessary filler.
Would re-reread a few times so the concepts stick.
Highly recommend!

So I have never spent more than £20 on a book and this was £32.99. £33 for a book 96 pages long!! But the author used the same technique he describes in the book to sell me the book and before I know it I’m £33 down and so much wiser in the way of copywriting. I’ve read a lot of books about copywriting and ad techniques including the Classics like the Boron Letters and cashvertising, scientific advertising etc etc. So if you are just sitting in copywriting or make a fortune from the craft BUY this book. It’s without a doubt the best book I’ve read on the subject. I put the technique described to the test the day after I bought it. I wrote a long form sales letter for a client as an email for a giving up smoking product: result 5 sales in a week. Previously the client had sold 5 products in three months. I then used the same technique to write copy for a Facebook ad for a fitness product. Prior to this the client had only ever tried video ads. Result? 50% reduction on CPA and 4 x ROAS (avg is 2). Don’t procrastinate just buy the book and invest in your skill/career/business and both you and the author can thank me after.

One of my top reads this year.
A must for anyone who is looking to sell more.

My top takeaways:

Secret to converting copy is to define the one belief, then answer these 10 questions.

ONE BELIEF. 10 QUESTIONS.

This NEW OPPORTUNITY is the key to THEIR DESIRE and it's only attainable through MY NEW MECHANISM.

Focus on ONE IDEA! ONE BELIEF! Broken down into 3 areas.

NEW OPPORTUNITY (what): The new opportunity you present must be unique and viewed as the key to their desire.

PROSPECTS DESIRE: Must make them feel more significant, respected and valued.

NEW MECHANISM (how): Must have them believe your new mechanism can help them.

Everyone makes extreme claims. You need to find a new way to make an old promise work.

EX: A mentorship program for new business.

ONCE ANSWER OPP/DESIRE/MECH... THEN YOU HAVE YOUR ONE BELIEF.

EX: P90X - Avoiding the plateau effect (new opp) is the key to building muscle (desire) and is attainable only through P90X muscle confusion system (new mech).

EX: Febreeze - Adding a pleasant smell at the end of your cleaning routine (new opp) is the key to keeping home looking fresh and clean (desire) and is attainable only through febreeze clean technology (new mech).

EX: Proactive - Attacking acne at every stage (new opp) is the key to keeping your skin clear and healthy looking (desire) and is attainable only through proactive therapy (new mech).

PAC SHORES: FOLLOWING A PROVEN SYSTEM THAT PROVIDES CLARITY, PURPOSE, AND STRUCTURE (new opp) IS THE KEY TO OBTAINING LONG TERM SOBRIETY (desire) AND IS ATTAINABLE ONLY THROUGH PACIFIC SHORES 3 PHASE SYSTEM.

QUESTION 1: HOW IS THIS DIFFERENT FROM EVERYTHING ELSE I'VE SEEN?

Must feel like you just figured something out and you're revealing what you discovered to the reader.

Novelty is a must so the brain releases dopamine to stay engaged.

Your opportunity needs to feel like a breakthrough!

QUESTION 2: WHAT'S IN IT FOR ME?

Make it all about them. Remember they don't have to read your shit.

What promise can you make at the beginning that will get them salivating. It must be tied to their key desires.

QUESTION 3: HOW DO I KNOW THIS IS REAL!

Must show proof.

Wrap up in ABT structure. And, But, Therefore.

QUESTION 4: WHAT'S HOLDING ME BACK?

Justify their failures. Show them why they failed as what tried before never addressed the real problem but now new opportunity that addresses it.

Must give them hope.

Reverse engineer Question 1

QUESTION 5: WHO AND WHAT IS TO BLAME!

Us vs the mentality. Find a common enemy.

QUESTION 6: WHY NOW?

When trying to persuade you're faced with 4 levels of resistance.

Reactance. If they feel like you're selling them they osuh away.

Distrust. They'll be skeptical.

Scrutiny. They must see believable proof.

Inertia. They don't want to change so need to plug in either/or.

Either you get in now or you'll lose out.

QUESTION 7: WHY SHOULD I TRUST YOU?

I've been in your shoes.

Robin hood story line.

The expert storyline.

QUESTION 8: HOW DOES IT WORK?

Explain it in simple terms.

QUESTION 9: HOW CAN I GET STARTED.

Create a huge GAP between the value and the price!

Always increase value and not cut price. You can do this by comparing to similar more expensive product, use scarcity (limited supply), or bonus gifts (this is the best.)

STACK all the bonuses and show value all added up and then thr price you're charging now. Then give risk free offer.

EX: Offer

Reveal special report (main offer.)

Subscription service (get thr report when join service).

What others are saying (testimonials).

False close (anchor higher price.)

Extra bonuses (show each bonus value.)

Value stack (shown total value.)

Final price (cut the value to reveal scarcity price.)

Guarantee (risk reversal.)

QUESTION 10: WHAT DO I HAVE TO LOSE?

Raise the pain by reminding how life will be the same if doesn't act.

EX: PG 83 Of the close.

Look, you've seen how this works (examples) all by using this simple system.

You saw real people are following these strategies and loving their ideal life.

I've negotiated a substantial discount.

With a guarantee that covers the cost, now it's time to make a decision.

The way I see it you have 3 options.

1. Do nothing and stay exactly where you are right now. Maybe you don't need this but if you'd like the change, that leaves you with 2 other options.

2. Do it yourself. Try all the different methods out there and hope it works. If you're willing to spend countless hours you might be able to pull it off.

3. Let me do the heavy lifting for you where all you have to do is follow my direction.

Of these 3 ask yourself, what's going to be the easiest for you? There's 2 types of people, those who dream of doing it without ever making the decision to do it, and those who take action when the opportunity is in front of them. Most people tell you they want it all, but few make it happen. Since you've watched all this, I think you're one of the few special ones... One of the 250 people I'm looking for. I'm ready to send you exactly what to do... Only you can decide.

The 16-Word Sales Letter

Do you want to know the secrets behind one of the top-selling copywriters in the world? The system is not as hard as it sounds and you can learn it. But it's not without unlearning what you know and starting building blocks over. So, want to be able to seek anything in a letter?

Is it evil to sell? The great Zig Ziglar said, "If you believe in your product it is your moral obligation to sell it." I am sure Zig would have loved this book. The simple secret to selling more.

Pull back the curtain and there he is the great wizard of OZ. When reading the 16-word sales letter I kept getting that feeling.

I study marketing all the time but this book breaks it wide open. The great marketers from Seth to Gary should read this book and be open to the dark side of marketing. Should we fight the dark side or accept it?

I've read the famous book "Trust me I'm lying" and that was only the tip of the iceberg. Now as I go around the internet I see this system everywhere, from ads to news headlines. Scary, but even more interesting. Why do we click, why do we buy?

Is this book worth your time?
I guess the question is do you want to study one of the greats.

The 16-Word Sales letter is a simple system. We should all study. I am left with one question, not should you read the book. Why do I have guilty feelings about knowing the system?

Very helpful and straightforward book that really breaks down what an effective sales letter looks like and how its structured.
I got the sense reading the book that it was targeted only at men, as he only uses male pronouns. That was confirmed to me in one of the last chapters when he used the example of bringing an attractive, confidant woman down a notch as a way to make her more interested in you. He was making the connection that you do that with sales too (not by insulting them, but by not appearing too 'needy' to make the sale.) I do see the connection he was trying to make, but felt that was a weak, and a bit of a sexist example.
Another thing that might have made the book more helpful was more examples in different types of niches. He sells in the financial services niche, so all of his examples were about that. Maybe others would have been useful too. However, as long as you're following the formula he's laid out, you should be able to apply that to anything you're selling.

This book gives a clear overview of a copywriting formula that, according to the other, has resulted in many millions in sales.

The book is a very quick read which is nice as the author gets his point across efficiently. The psychological effects behind why this formula works are discussed as well.

This review is 4 starts instead of 5 stars because the book, while good, could have been more thorough and had more substance. You get 1 copywriting formula, which is certainly worth the cost and time to read, but the author likely has more to teach on the subject and this left me wanting to know more.

Do not get put-off by the price of this book. This is a quick read and full of valuable information.
Evaldo is not the usual self-help guru making money selling books and seminars, he is in the field writing copy everyday. Evaldo's copy has sold millions of dollars of products. The book offers a great blueprint you can immediately apply.
A great invaluable addition to my library of business books. I am sure I will refer to this often!

Searching for the perfect sales copy formula? Look here.

You'll have the quickest read among all your copywriting books. And you'll learn more than you ever taught you could. But you'll think if this is any good. You may doubt if any of these is real. You'll just have to pick a product or service you want to sell and test this formula yourself. You may as well be glad you did.

Short and packed with the essentials. A good structure to build your sales letter around.

Evaldo Alburquerque is one of the best copywriters in Agora, if not the best. Here he delivers a 'step-by-step' process for writing winning promos. I find the 'one belief' helps me stay on track instead of being too all over the place.

Now I'm dying to have a collection of Evaldo's sales letters.

Easily the most actionable book on writing sales letters that I've ever ready. I literally took Evaldo's one belief concept, wrote down the 10 questions, answered them for the product I was selling, and turned it into a sales letter. Evaldo makes the overall process for writing sales letters much more easy and efficient by following his simple process.

Short and simple…with a concrete application process along with a profound set of paradigms to view your letter through.

It is an afternoon of reading that can open up a lifetime of opportunity. The only book so far that has given me this amount of knowledge in such an understandable and replica-table process.

Do not skip this, less you enjoy leaving money on the table.
