Young children can often understand far more than they are able to say. Teaching simple signs from as young as eight months can give babies a valuable way to communicate their needs, feelings, and interests before they are ready to speak. Once children begin talking, signs can remain a comforting and familiar way to reinforce communication.
Easy-to-follow signing instructions allow parents, caregivers, and children to learn together as they sing and act out the rhyme. The repetition of the song, combined with movement and simple signs, helps support language development while encouraging children to participate, listen, imitate, and express themselves.
Even proficient speakers will enjoy signing along to a favorite rhyme, making this a book the whole family can return to again and again.
