Reminds me of the Mr. Men series but in reverse; encouraging kids instead of showing them negative examples. This is a huge series and I will not read nearly all of them; I probably wouldn't even if I had a classroom. But if you think your young kids are struggling with their feelings, check some of these out.

I like this one especially for me. I need to chill, breath, "rest and relax," and "cultivate gratitude."

Achieving happiness

Another great book that explains to my children how to turn a bad/negative feeling into a good one by appreciating small things & to be grateful for what you have. Kids nowadays need a reminder to be happy & thankful. Looking forward to reading the next ninja book!

A Change of Focus

5 yr old, "My favorite part was grumpy ninja playing in the water with his friends."

7 yr old, "I likes that part too (same as 5 yr old) because he was getting along with his friends and his attitude changed."

8 yr old, "I like how he went from grumpy to happy. I also like how the book taught us how we can fight grumpiness."

Gratitude helps

Gratitude goes a long way.
This cute book teaches children that although they have a bad day, if they pause and look at all the good things they will feel better.
The only downside: some of the words seem way too advance for the average young reader.

I wish that I had, had this book earlier in the school year for one of my counseling students. I enjoyed the idea of gratitude and recognizing all that we have, but my critique is that it doesn't fully account for individuals with different abilities.

Grumpy Ninja has a hard time not being grumpy. Every little thing seems to make him grumpier, and grumpier. It wasn't until Positive and Earth Ninja showed Grumpy how to be thankful with a spirit of gratitude, and helped him to erase his grumpiness.
