From best selling author, Annie Seaton, a beautiful story of female friendships, and the unbreakable bond that sees friends stay together through the ups and downs of life.

When Pippa Carmichael inherits a house on a deserted tropical island, it couldn’t have come at a better time for her. Life’s been tough lately; she’s lost her job, given her boyfriend the flick, and now it’s time for her to make a new start. With her two best friends, Pippa heads off to Pentecost Island to investigate her inheritance and is surprised to find there is another resident on the island.
Reclusive author, Rafe Rendell, is not impressed when a boatload of women turn up on his island, interrupting his peaceful  existence. He is less impressed when he meets Pippa, the sassy new owner of Ma Carmichael’s sprawling house.
Can these two live in harmony on the same small island, or is Pippa's dream destined to fail?

This is an excellent start to a new (to me) series and it makes me very happy to know that I have a good number more to read!

Pippa is set in the beautiful Whitsunday Islands off the coast of Australia. One of Annie Seaton's great strengths is the way she uses the Australian landscape in her stories and she does that here. Travel starved as we all are right now it helps to read about places we have been or plan to go to eventually.

Pity we are not all as lucky as Pippa who inherits half an island and enough money to move there and start building a holiday resort. Of course the other half of the island is owned by a good looking, single, rich, reclusive author who does not want people tramping all over "his" island. Things start to look tricky for building the resort.

I had one issue with this book. It did not finish but rather segued into the next book. I guess I just have to grab a copy of #2 now to see what happens next.

Pippa Carmichael had been unhappy for some time and now, as she kicked her betraying boyfriend out of her apartment, lost her job and received a letter from her beloved Aunty Vi’s solicitors, she could see the tables had turned. Pippa had inherited half of Pentecost Island where Aunty Vi had lived almost all her life, and Pippa had spent ten years of hers as she was growing up. With her best friends Tam and Nell by her side, they headed to Hamilton Island for a few days, then on to Pentecost Island.

Pippa’s dream had been Aunty Vi’s – to turn the island into a resort. A number of island resorts had closed down over the years as cyclones caused havoc, but when Pippa’s approach to the council was approved, they were thrilled. There was only one setback – the owner of the other half of the island, one Rafe Rendell, was furious at the invasion of his privacy. He would fight this resort with everything he had. So – what would be the outcome for Pentecost Island? Would Pippa’s dream fail before it had a chance to fly?

Pippa is the 1st in the Pentecost Island series by Aussie author Annie Seaton, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The friendships and loyalty of the three women, which had lasted since childhood, was lovely to see. And they always had each other’s backs, told things as they saw them and worked hard for their futures. I’m looking forward to the second book in the series, and easily recommend this one.

This was a lovely piece of chick-lit set in the beautiful Whitsunday Islands. Pippa is in her late twenties, has just dumped her boyfriend and lost her job, when she learns she has inherited her great-Aunts house on Pentecost Island. With the aid of her two closest friends she sets off to see if she can make a future for herself on the island.

My Thoughts

I just couldn't put this book down, it had a hold on me, man alive this was a very relaxing holiday read that took me on an Island.

Pippa inherits half of an Island and house and invites two of her best friends to upstick their lives and make new ones there, with her, however, she finds out someone else owns the other a half of the Island, a mystery man and she wonders if this person is going to give her trouble.

This was a chatty book, the girls being almost in their 30's. Lots of quotes related to the relaxing vibe this book creates, even the book cover is so enticing and whispers of the sea called me to sit, relax and enjoy.

So enjoyed the mystery behind this Rafe Randell who Pippa encounters. Also I enjoyed the house on the Island, finding what was useable, finding out how to run a generator for electricity, all that stuff interested me no end.

A definate 5 star rating/review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

I highly recommend this book if you are wanting a calming influence in your life, Christmas and New Year period can be a chaotic time for some and this book just puts you in right zone that's most needed. Readers who like Islands? This definitely is a treat for you.

I loved every aspect of this story. I found that once I started reading I couldn’t stop...

I loved how the 4 main characters all developed and the way it ended in a cliffhanger has made me really anticipate the release of the next book (which in essence is a continuation chapter) so that I can see the story unfold further.

The issues that the characters face are very realistic... makes you totally sympathetic to what they are going through and the emotions that they are feeling.

Short but sweet, a nice introduction to some new characters for Annie Seaton. Did feel that more could have happened in the book, that it ended too soon, but looking forward to the next installment.

I thoroughly enjoyed this story, I read it in one sitting today, it is a beautifully told story, set on Pentecost Island in The Whitsundays, we get to know Pippa and Rafe two people who have been hurt in the past and both deserve happiness, I hope that you will pick this one up and enjoy it as much as I did.

Pippa Carmichael has just lost her job and dumped her boyfriend when she receives a letter that could be the making of her, she has inherited an island, an island she spent her teenage years on with her Aunt Vi, now she is going to make her dreams come true with the help of her best friends Nell and Tam off they go to Pentecost Island only to discover that she shares the island with a recluse, someone who may not agree with the plans Pippa has for the island.

Rafe Rendell has been living on Pentecost Island for two years now after moving from England and loving his solidarity, he is far from impressed when a boat turns up with three woman onboard, when he meets the new owner Pippa he is even more unimpressed by her plans for the island, and getting to know her is not easy considering how well he got on with her Aunt when he purchased his half of the island.

Maybe Aunt Vi knew something when she sold half of the island to Rafe, she always wanted Pippa to return to the island she knew this was the place that made her feel strong and good about herself, and Rafe he needed to put the past behind him and look to the future and his career. Their first meetings are feisty and it takes a tree and a long chat to get them to open up, but the future looks great for them both and I am looking forward to the next book in the series to see where they are heading. This really is a great story, a story about friends, true friends who are there for each other and a romance thrown in, thank you MS Seaton, this is one I highly recommend.

Everyone needs an Aunty Vi in their lives, just like Pippa had. Plus her friends Tam and Nell, of course.
This is a delightful story of friendship, resilience and following your dreams. I thoroughly enjoyed reading ‘Pippa’ by Annie Seaton.

I loved this! I know the area where the story is set and could feel myself there just as if I was one of the girls. Great storyline and setting on the island as the long time friends set off o a new adventure together.. I also like how the story is left with a touch of mystery to lead us into the next book.

A brilliant start to what looks to be an amazing series. This group of women are embarking on an adventure, or perhaps more accurately, a huge project that has the power to set them up for years to come. Pippa is the first to meet an eligible man and is at the beginning of what could be a meaningful relationship. I am really looking forward to future instalments in this series to see where it goes.

Very enjoyable

This is a more traditional contemporary romance than the Porter sisters series which I have just finished. I still love the characters and the Australian setting is to die for.The author has a great facility for describing the natural beauty of Australia, I almost feel I've been there, these books make me want to pack my bag.

Rafe had an amazing change of heart - very sudden. It would have made more sense if it was during/after the tree.

Not my usual genre but thoroughly enjoyed this. I think it made a difference that I knew the area where it was set - such a beautiful area. It was a light and easy read and enjoyed the characters.

This is a very slow burn of a Story and so far no romance, it was left with a cliff hanger and it must be read as a series at this point. Outside of the ending it was a good start to a story, the 3 girls are fun to read about and also to learn about moving/living on an island. We meet Rafe and he turns into a loveable guy that hopefully has more of the story in the rest of series. I liked how the girls were all working together but built each other up to complete the dream so far.

So far it's nice, clean, team girl friends of a story. I look forward to the rest of the series and to find out what happens with the girls and well the mystery at the end!

Pippa - I loved this book and then I reached the end, a cliffhanger! I still love this story with its variety of storylines and the likeable, enjoyable characters and the emotions and the humor.

For a bit, Pippa was acting the idiot but she straightened out and was actually a good person. Her best friends and loving Aunty Vi made for a good supporting group. Well thought out, especially the cliffhanger - over my dismay now, the story flowed from page to page and too soon came the cliffhanger. I did mention the cliffhanger? Anyway, I am looking forward to the next bit of this series.

The easy to read writing style and the interesting descriptions gave an interesting read full of emotions, yet did not rip your heart out. So the story is full but not depressing; with the dark, comes the light. The reader still participated in this delightful, heartwarming world of Ms. Seaton's. I found this book on Booksprout. 5*

Worth the Wait - This is my first read by this author and I enjoyed this delightful romance mixed with a bit of intrigue. Of course, it helps that it is set New South Wales, Australia.

Interesting storylines blend together well with a good cast of characters and the author's talent of storytelling. Her vivid descriptions build a great picture of everything from characters to locations to emotions.. awe

The writing style is laid back making it easy to get lost within the pages. I found this book on Booksprout. 4*

This looks like a fun, new series. I can't wait to see what happens next. Girls with baggage, lost jobs, exes etc decide to make a new beginning together. They've been tight since their school days and lift each other up. Pippa has inherited half an island and has big plans. Could the recluse on the island stand in her way? Is the project too big for them?
I haven't travelled to this area of Australia in many years so it was lovely to revisit through the eyes of the author.
Great read, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

It’s always exciting to start a new series by one of my favorite Author, Annie Seaton.
Pippa Carmichael is having a really BAD day! She needs a change.
Pentecost Island is Pippa’s inheritance. It is the perfect opportunity to take her 2 best friends and open a resort. Only once they arrive they find Pippa’s neighbor is against the idea.
She really needs him onboard, because he owns the other half the island!
Fantastic read! I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.
