Paranormal Mating #1

Swipe Right to Mate

Rate this book
Victoria is floundering. She's lost her home, her boyfriend, everything... rather than go back to her parents with her tail tucked between her legs, or inconvenience her best friend, she decides to take matters into her own hands.

When she comes across a mating app, Tori thinks she may have just found a way to solve all of her problems, and maybe, just maybe, find love along the way.

A trial period with Mal, the sexy bear shifter who contacted her seems like the answer. But, when she gets there and realizes it's not only Mal she's there to meet, but also his best friend Kai, will this opportunity be more than this human bargained for?

Swipe Right to Mate is the first in a new trilogy by DJ Bryce. This is a menage standalone about a desperate woman finding exactly what she needs, where she least expects it.

Audiobook review:

I recently listened to Swipe Right to Mate and D.J. Bryce and the first book in her Paranormal Mating series. Narrated by Stacy Hill, we meet Victoria who is a bit lost after her boyfriend left her homeless and without any possessions. She knows she needs a change, but what does that mean? She decides to try the paranormal dating app where they look for mates. But when she finds out her trail is with two bear shifters, can she commit? I loved Victoria. She was caring and sweet. She just needed to find her place. Mal and Kai have been family since they found each other as cubs. They knew they wanted to share a mate, but can Victoria be what they need?

Swipe Right to Mate by D.J. Bryce was a fun story with two sexy bears who are caring and determined. There is a bit of suspense and introduction to other characters. A great, quick listen.

Happy listening!

This is a new to me author, and it's been a while since I've read a paranormal, so I picked this one because it sounds fun. Boy, was it! I totally fell in love with Kai, Tori, and Mal!

Kai and Mal met when they were cubs, and grew up together, with no other family. They forged such a tight bond, they decided to stay together always, taking a mate together, creating their own family. This led them to the mating app.

Tori has horrible luck with men! Her last boyfriend stole all of her money, all of her belongings and disappeared without a trace! Down on her luck, and seriously depressed, she decides to give a mating app a try. When she gets an invitation from Kai and Mal, she decides to give it a go!

I love the close relationship between Kai and Mal. I love how funny Mal is. I love how protective Kai is. I love how open to change Tori is. Together, they just make magic! This book was a fun, light-hearted story, all about family. This author has put together a winning combination, hot shifters that want a family, and a woman that is accepting of their differences! I can't wait to read the next book!

You know what I love? Cheese. And this book has some serious cheesetastic moments. I knew it would be great based on the title - and the fact that it's based on a shifter dating app. But this far exceeded my expectations. And frankly, I'm more than a little disappointed that the app isn't real and I can't find my own hunky shifters...

I loved Kai and Mal, and I really liked their dynamic. You could see how their personalities played off each other, and they just fit. I would love to learn more about their past - as in, why they were both alone - but I was already sucked into the story, so I didn't feel like it was lacking. I can't wait for the next one!

Swipe Right to Mate is the first in a new trilogy by DJ Bryce and Terra Wolf. This is a menage standalone about a desperate woman finding exactly what she needs, where she least expects it. The series is all paranormal romance and it’s different than anything I have read. They had the equivalent of Tinder that you use to find your mate, but only paranormal beings can sign up to find their mates. The mates can be human or paranormal. It gave a different feel to the story than the usual “meet and immediately know you are my mate” trope.

This was a very quick read. If you are put off by the fact it’s a menage romance you shouldn’t. There are really light elements of this in the story with really only one scene you could always skip through. If you have never read a menage romance, you could start with this one to see if you will like it.

Since it was such a quick read, I felt like it was kind of hard to connect with the characters. There was not much time for their emotional connections to grow and that left me a bit disappointed. Usually paranormal romances have really intense feelings due to the mating and I felt like this one might fallen a bit flat in that aspect. There also wasn’t too much shown of the three main characters growing their emotions together, mostly just as two separate couples.

I have to admit that I still enjoyed reading Swipe Right to Mate. I thought it was a unique story with the dating app with paranormal beings. It was a fun and sexy story. I’m looking forward to the other two books coming out soon to see how the dating app helps other shifters find their mate.

Female MC: I'm young, my life is a mess (because of my decisions), let me make a lifetime commitment to a stranger to fix everything.

Seems like another bad decision IMHO. Of course, this being a romance story, it turns out well and with an HEA. But the premise is terrible.

Also terrible is the bit with the ex-boyfriend. It just doesn't even make sense how he finds out about where she is and who she is with. It would have been better to use those pages on further developing the main characters. For example, what happened to Kai and Mal's parents? How did they end up growing up alone? Towards the end of the book we find out that multiples are common/expected in shifter pregnancies ... so how come neither Kai or Mal have siblings?

I don't want to be too negative though. I read the second book to this series and it was better than the first one (more background on the characters and more mature decisions by the MCs).

Shapeshifters and their own version of a dating app?? Yeah, I so wanted to see what this one was about. It's a quick fun, raunchy romp into a romance that has a paranormal slant to it. In this world, shifters are out (no mention if vamps exist in this world ) and humans know of their existence. In an attempt to aide the shifters in finding mates from across the globe they created a dating app where shifters post about their mating desires and give the applicants the chance to meet and see if their animals accept the mates.

Having just lost her home to a lying bastard, and being cut off by her family for making choices they don't agree with Victoria figures it couldn't hurt to see what the fuss is about with shifters. After all, everyone knows that they are some of the best lovers, extremely protective and want families, all of which she wants including the loyalty. I was intrigued by the concept and found myself reading this extremely quickly.

The characters were fun to read. Mal and Kai are best friends who raised each other since they were cubs. They have created for themselves a good job, built an amazing home and now it's time to find a mate. Mal signs up for the dating app and makes the connection to Victoria and our story unfolds from there. It's interesting to watch the dynamic between the three as they learn to navigate this strange new existence. As they do they share their journey with their friends and start to build a good relationship. I really loved that each of the men had distinct personalities, and created distinct relationships with Victoria. The sexy moments between them as single couples and as a menage were amazing, they were very hot moments between Victoria and both Kai and Mal. There were many sweet moments and a few funny moments not just between the men and Victoria but between the en themselves. I loved seeing their teasing and how comfortable they were together

I loved Tori's friendship with her best friend who is really honest with her about her feelings and about what Tori is about to do. Even though she's worried she still backs her play and helps her when she needs her. There is a bit of an adventure when the past catches up to Tori in the most unexpected way. It's great to see the community come to her aide the way it did.
I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series including their friends attempt at the dating app. It's going to be interesting because he's got some ideas that aren't going to hold water for very long. This was a fun, sexy new concept to shifters finding their mates and I enjoyed it immensely.

Coming soon in the series...

Eh

First sandy brown? Sand only looks brown when it's wet and then there's million other ways to describe that shade of brown than sandy. Sand is usually yellow or white and when you hear the word sandy it makes you think of blondes. It's hard to think of this girl as anything but the stereotypical blonde when that is used as the description for her hair.

Second if these guys were starving bears in the woods, where did they get the money to start a sporting goods chain? Who taught them to read, write, count and the millions of other things humans learn to survive and bears don't? So many plot holes with their back story it's not even funny.

Next Tori, how many 22 year olds are rushing to settle down and start a family unless they're too immature and naive to really understand what it means to be a mother. Don't get me wrong I had 3 kids at 22, all surprises, so I'm not saying it can't be done, but normally when you become a mother that young it's not a plan, it's a surprise that you scramble to learn how to handle. And the few people I've that young that did plan to get married and half babies had naive ideas that marriage and parenthood was like a 80s sitcom and quickly find themselves disillusioned when they realized parenthood is hard and life isn't television. Or let's talk about the fact she was conned and robbed and never filed a police report?! Or how they never called the police when she was kidnapped and just said this is your chance to be better? Freaking seriously?! Real life isn't the Halmark channel and your characters allowed a violent and repeat criminal to walk away without any repercussions beyond probably soiled pants. It's irresponsible and ludicrous.

Then there's the instalove which if I get started on this I'll go on for a while. Ultimately the leading lady isn't mature enough for a real love story and most of the book was overly naive and filled with plot holes and more than a couple typos.

Amount of sex 3.5 / 5
How explicit is the sex scenes 3.5 / 5
Story 4 / 5
Overall: 4 / 5

Paranormal romances are so much fun to read, and I especially love the ones with hot, sexy, alpha males! Swipe Right to Mate is the first book in a three-book paranormal trilogy, and it has two sexy as sin, alpha bear shifters. Each book in the series can be read as a standalone and ends with an HEA.

In this story, Victoria (Tori) decides to put her profile on a dating app called Swipe Right to Mate. It’s a dating app for those interested in mating with a paranormal. Mal and Kai have been friends since they were cubs and grew up together. Now they live together and hope to find a woman to mate with both of them. They find Tori’s profile and ask her to come out for a trial period to see if they are a fit.

Swipe Right to Mate is a fun and entertaining story that I quickly became absorbed in. I even read it in one sitting! It's perfect for a beach read!

After trusting the wrong person Tori finds herself homeless with only the clothes on her back. As a temporary solution she has been staying with her best friend so she decides that online dating with shifters could help her create the future she wants as it can only be better than what she has experienced to date.

Mal and Kai are more like brothers than friends and can’t imagine their lives without each other so they would like to share a woman. When Tori comes into their lives, she was expecting a relationship with one man but she is about to find out that two are double the fun.

Mal is easy going and open with his feelings while Kai is the strong and silent so while Mal was all in Kai was more cautious but there was no denying they belonged together. I listened to an audio copy of the book which allowed me to feel the humor, heat and suspense of the story.

New series a hit

I've enjoyed reading Terra Wolfe for quite a while. DJ Bryce is new to me,but a very promising new author. This new series is starting off with a bang. Tori suffering from a bad situation, decides to take a chance on finding love. She tries a new paranormal app, and finds Mal and Kai ,of course love never goes smoothly and she and her mates go through a small detour of trouble concerning her ex. A very happy ending, can't wait till the next book comes out. Gladly endorse this for your reading pleasure.

Swipe Right To Mate by DJ Bryce is a paranormal romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Stacy Hill. This is the first book in the Paranormal Mating series and can be read as a standalone.

This is the first book of DJ's that I have read and it definitely won't be my last. I really enjoyed the relationship that bloomed between Victoria, Mal, and Kai. I loved that we got all of their points of view throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.

I can't wait to dive into the next book in the series Swipe Right For Love so I can get Katja and Bane's story.

Stacy did a great job on the narration. I look forward to listening to more of her work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you love paranormal romances.

This is the first in this series and it starts with a bang.

We have Victoria who comes home to find everything gone, her boyfriend, and all her belongings, plus the house has been sold.
He even cleaned out all her money.
She has nowhere to go and no money.

While at her friends house she signs up for a paranormal mating site and she goes for a trial at Mal and Kai’s home they are bear shifters .

Let's just say that sparks fly, doubts are answered and the men save the day but from what?

I loved reading this book, the storyline was really good and I loved the main and secondary characters.

I'd sign up!

Tori was really in a bad spot but the mating app helped her achieve something she couldn't on her own. Mal and Kai are the best of friends, more like brothers, but couldn't be less alike. When these three meet, sparks fly. The slowly building relationship was amazing to see!

Not bad. Never read anything like this before with shape shifters but it was okay. Heroine went through a tough time and had no one but a best friend but needed a change and found these guys through an app. There is a HEA and no cheating for those who care even though the ex boyfriend does come back into the picture.

Sweet story

I love shifter stories. Especially bears. It's a good setup for a series. This book does need some editing around grammar and leaving off letters and other typos. If I could give it a 3 1/2 , would. I like the character and the setting. It just needs polishing.

This is the first book in the Paranormal Dating Series and I’m hooked! I would totally sign up for the app that Victoria did, especially since Tori’s ex left her homeless and penniless. What more could you want than a mate that would see to your every need. Mal and Kai are two bear shifters new to the app also and they contact Tori. Will she take a chance on the two bear shifters?

Extremely engaging story line. Can’t wait for the next book in the series to come out.

Fun characters

Quick and easy read. I wasn't sure because of the title, but I really enjoyed the story. An app to find mates is a new twist on the shifter and mates story. I recommend it.

Wonderful

Not just another sweet romance novel, much more. D.J. portrayed the main characters so well, I felt as if I knew them. But she didn't stop there, she described some of the other characters very well, too. Well worth the time spent reading.

If you're like me, you love the shifter romances. Where there's the alpha who can only have his one. That's what this story is except there's 2 alphas who are searching for their one.

Mal and Kai are both amazing in their own ways. They each have their own personalities but they also do well together. Mal is definitely more of the approachable one but Kai isn't a loner by any means. I think between the 2 of them, they each have what Tori is looking for.

I love the idea of a paranormal dating app or mating app and can't wait to read more in this series!

Loved it!!!

So far so good, loved how things worked out for Mal and Kai. Although Kai was a bit standoffish as Tori puts it, but it all worked out in the end, and they all couldn't be happier now that she's having their cubs..Loved it big fan Winzie19💞.

Can she Bear to luv two?????

Her ex took everything she had, even down to her toothbrush. Left her without enough money to get home, but she can't go home anyway; she's not welcome there any longer. They've been alone too long. They have a special need,; they need to share a mate!! Can she luv 2 men at the same time? Can they really share a mate without any jealousy or drama? Well she's up for the 2 week trial they have proposed. But what will happen when her ex comes to town? Read this outstanding book to find the answers to these questions and more. Terrific writing, great characters and a storyline that is the start of a new series, Swipe Right to .... Highly recommended
