Jax and Hales Part 2!

The following ratings are out of 5:
Narration: 🎙🎙🎙🎙🎙
Romance: 💛🖤💜💙❤️
Steam: 🔥🔥🔥
Story/Plot: 📕📗📘📙📔
World building: 🌎🌍🌏🌎🌏
Character development: 😕🤬🤯😎🥰

The Hero: Jax Jamieson - a rockstar who is trying to do right by his family. He wants to finish out his contract and retire so he can move his sister and niece away from the man that beats his sister.

The heroine(s): Haley Telfer - at the end of Good Girl, she left the tour for Nashville and is about to go back to school for her senior year of college. She has been bartending in the two months since she left Jax’s tour. She was angry with him for keeping some information he had about her to himself.

The Story: The story between mega rock star Jax Jamieson and college student Haley Telfer heats up in this book. There is eight years between them and both of them are dealing with different family issues. When both of their lives are blown apart and things get complicated.

I don’t want to get any more into the storylines because I don’t want to give away anything. However, this second book got more interesting than the first, it also gets much steamier. Though Haley still has issues with being touched, Jax makes her feel safe and comfortable.

Joe Arden and Savannah Peachwood are the narrators of the entire series and they do a bang up job. They are two of my favorite narrators and are perfect for the characters. This was another great rockstar romance from Piper Lawson and I am already listening to the next book.

For a fuller review, please see my comments on the first installment in this series.

I didn't realize that Piper Lawson is a fellow Canadian. I'm so proud of this talented author. All of the stories take place in the U.S. The Wicked series takes place primarlily in Philadelphia and Dallas, with a few stops along the way during the band's final tour.

I'm so glad to be able to support a Canadian talent who can actually write a decent, intelligent sentence! I am so looking forward to reading more novels by this author!

Content warning:

Dislikes:

I was expecting relationship development to occur between Shannon and Haley, but it never happened. Why introduce a deadbeat father if not to redeem him or turn him into a villain? Instead, he was just kind of there . . .

Likes:

The characters. I liked both characters already, but this book made them even more likable to me. Jax’s and Haley’s struggles in this book made them more endearing to me. In the first book, I thought Haley would be a forgettable heroine, but after reading this, I know that won’t be true. I like how ambitious and optimistic she is. Instead of giving up after something didn’t go her way, she’d have a positive outlook and try to change her approach so that she’d still be able to succeed. It was ✨inspiring✨. Serena was just as lovable as ever.

The plot twist. It surprised me and I love when books take a turn I’m not expecting.

I love how slowly the relationship between the MCs developed. They developed such a strong bond before making things official.

The storylines and plot twist made this book less boring than its previous installment. Haley’s relationship with her father was interesting. I was also interested in her college struggles because I’m in college and it was relatable. I was fully invested in Jax’s relationship with his . There was more drama, which is always fun. Basically, it was better than the first book in every way.

He likes to tease her and make her blush.
“Nice poster.”
I wish to God I could take a picture of the flush on her cheeks.

For reference, it was a poster of him. Awkwarddd

She likes to tease him right back.
“Jennifer in Baltimore saw your show and it’s the best show she’d ever seen.” Her mouth curves. “Obviously she never saw Leonard Cohen.”
I kick her under the table and she laughs.

The H is a dirty talker 😮‍💨
“I spent the whole call with my agent yesterday staring at the balcony and picturing what it’d be like to fuck you on it.” I nearly dropped the phone. “I bet you’re wet just thinking about it.”

The sex scenes. They were really, really hot. All I’m going to say is that the consent was there. When she was uncomfortable, he immediately stopped. I won’t give any more details because going in blind is best in this case. You’re welcome! :)

This was book two of the Wicked series. I have mixed emotions because I like the stories but I think that just one book would be enough?!? All the books are under 200 pages, which makes them a quick read. So the story of Jax & Haley would be best summed up (in my opinion) with just one longer book.

With all that being said, I did enjoy Haley's coming-of-age moments and being able to stand up to the pervasiveness of Jax, which have a lot to do with the age difference between the two characters. I rated this book 3.75/5 stars for the length of the book (or the lack thereof) but I enjoyed the story-line. I have no choice but to read book 3, Wicked, because I'm just way too invested in the story!

I received a copy and voluntarily left a review and all opinions are my own.

I didn't think that Piper Lawson could surprise or titillate me anymore than she already had with Jax and Haley in “Good Girl” but boy did she prove me wrong in her second addition to her Wicked series! The only way I can describe Good Girl is all repressed sexual tension and “what could be's” but Bad Girl was smoldering and explosive and we uncover more secrets that blow our mind and keep us riveted from beginning to end and waiting even more impatiently for “Wicked Girl” so we could have another encore performance of how scorching these two can be! I am like a crazed fan waiting in line all night for a chance at just one more glimpse of them backstage.

If I thought I adored Haley before, I am absolutely enamored after seeing the strength and tenacity she exudes in “Bad Girl”. Haley Tefler might look all sweet and innocent but once she gets alone in a room with Jax, she is anything but! I loved seeing her bad girl emerge and rock Jax to his core and her self confidence and sexuality grow in leaps and bounds.

Piper shows us once again that along with all the smoldering intensity and delicious sculpted muscle that makes up this rock god Jax Jamieson he also has a huge heart and a secret that will just make him that much sexier. I loved every moment of delving deeper into Jax and immersing myself in his raw sensuality and all around goodness. He melted my heart and kept me hanging onto every filthy word and sexy move he made.

Piper Lawson delivers a second addition to her “Wicked” series that will leave us once again clamoring for more and a little scared and anxious about Jax and Haley's future. I highly recommend “Bad Girl” for a deeper and even more meaningful look into a fictional couple that is quickly becoming reader's favorite.

I was a bit disappointed how little interaction there was with secondary characters! Jax was also pretty annoying in this book.

There was quite a twist at the end, but the book started slow.

There were several unbelievable things, but this still was entertaining enough.

Decisamente meglio rispetto al primo per quanto riguarda la traduzione. La storia è abbastanza carina, non una delle solite che riguardano le rockstar, ma manca di approfondimento in qualche punto.

4 stars!

The second book in the Wicked series, this book follows directly on from Good Girl, picking up the story of good girl Haley and rockstar Jax Jamieson after they’ve spent a couple of months apart.

The first book was a delicious slow burn as Haley and Jax got to know each other and developed feelings for that had the potential for epicness, but it remained as this feeling of anticipation as we waited for them to come together for real. Their situation was tricky, and the book ended with them in different cities. Now, they are reunited, and it’s clear from the very beginning that all of those feelings are back, with an even stronger dose of sexual tension, and naturally and oh-so-easily, they find themselves finally falling together.

It’s sexy, passionate and emotional, and I loved seeing them finally explore all of that chemistry between them. It was well worth the wait, and they are a beautiful mix of playfulness, teasing, explosive lust and a soul-deep connection.

They both have pretty significant things happening in their lives individually, and I loved watching them deal with all of that, having each other’s backs and supporting each other through their challenges. But then life takes a dramatic turn that neither of them were expecting, and they are both forced to make choices that will change their lives forever.

It’s another twist in Jax and Haley’s story, but I’m loving it! I love the build-up, the emotion, and the fun, sexy, and deeply intense love story, and after that final bombshell, I’m really excited to see where their story goes from here.

I loved it – 4 stars.

Note - The audiobook is narrated by Joe Arden and Savannah Peachwood, and they do a great job with it, I definitely recommend listening to this one.

An Audiobook version of this book was provided by the publisher in exchange for an honest review.

Piper Lawson Wicked bk 02 Bad Girl

Gah! That ending!

Jax Jamieson is swoon worthy... most of the time. He's also a very dirty talker who is smitten beyond reason with Haley "Hales" Telfer. These two can only dance around each other for so long before the barriers break. And what a lovely and hot thing they become.

This isn't a angsty as the first, but there's still plenty of drama. The revelations and reactions continue to be emotionally charged, but everything seems more... possible.

“Whoa. That’s good.”

“I’ve got some skills, Hales.” His gaze twinkles.

Haley & Jax

The pages fly by in this middle book in the trilogy (which ended up becoming a tetralogy). I like how things are going. Well, until they're not. Of course, there's a cliffhanger. Dang it!

I read along with the audio book. The narrators, Savannah Peachwood and Joe Arden, continue to deliver a good performance for these characters.

This is the second book in the wicked Series and continues from book one. Haley and Jax's relationship just gets more intense and their chemistry is explosive. Lots of drama and surprises to keep you guessing. Haley reconnects with her father and that adds more twists to the story. Well written with strong, well-developed characters and an entertaining story line. We are left with a cliffhanger which will continue in the third book. Piper is a master storyteller and you will not be disappointed. I read an advance copy and voluntarily chose to write a review.

I grabbed this on audio for a quick listen. The first book was alright, but I figured it would build more in this book. Honestly, it was pretty cringy: the word choices, conversation, spicy scenes 😬 I won’t be finishing this series.

Gah!

Just as good as number 1. Well, maybe better...the things revealed and coming to light were...awesome!

Jax and Haley have some of the best angst and chemistry.

"If there ever was a man who looked like he was fucking a microphone on stage, it's Jax."

Can't you just picture that!!

And a little snippet into Jax, the lead singer, bad boy (but not really).

"I'm totally going to fuck you someday, Hales. But not until you beg me to."

I mean, hells to the yes. You have to want to read this after that!

Onto book 3!

I received an ARC of this book and this is my voluntarily, honest review of it.

‘Bad girl’ is the second book in the ‘Wicked’ series and it is the follow-up of Haley and Jax’s story so you really need to read ‘Good girl’ first before you read this one.

After finishing ‘Good girl’ I was really curious about what would happen next between Jax and Haley. And I can say that I wasn’t disappointed! Wow! After the slow burning pace in the first book, this story was steamy! I loved it! If I have to compare the two books I would say that ‘Good girl’ is like the intro of a melody and ‘Bad girl’ is the song that seduces your partner to dance the salsa with you!
The story is again told from both POV’s.

After some time apart, Haley and Jax meet again and the chemistry is still there between them but the doubts about their feelings and their circumstances are still lingering too. But even with all the doubts in their minds, Haley and Jax can’t stay away from each other or can resist the chemistry between them any longer. However, Jax isn’t the only one that is wanting Haley’s attention. Haley’s father is also making demands on her time and life. The more time Haley spends with Jax and her father the more secrets she discovers. Life isn’t always easy, just when you think that you know it all, it gives you a blow that you never expected. It makes your heart bleed by forcing you to choose between love and your conscience about what’s right.

The writer Piper Lawson took us on a ride that was filled with funny banter, steamy scenes and heartbreak. There were some surprises in it, things that I totally didn’t expect (I always like that!) and the end was also a total surprise to me! And it made me very curious for the third and last book of the Wicked series!

Bad Girl is the second book in the Wicked Trilogy and it continues right where book one left off. This couple has easily become one of my favorites and I enjoyed following their story. Its so much more than just a rockstar story. We have Haley's pending relationship with the man she discovered is her father and Jax wanting to leave the band and their budding relationship. Its unique and emotional and again had me hooked until the end.
While book 1 was a slow burn, this book was hott and steamy and I loved it. I just loved seeing Haley evolve in this story. Of course the book ends in a cliff hanger and I can't wait to start Wicked Girl to see how it all ends. Piper Lawson gave us another fantastic page-turner with Bad Girl and I would highly recommend it to all lovers of Rockstar romances.
The audiobook novel was narrated by Savannah Peachwood and Joe Arden. They again did an excellent job with the narration. They were both passionate and fully embodied the characters bringing the story to life. I enjoyed listening to them narrate this novel.

Wow, Wow, Wow!

If I thought that this series could not get more addictive, more angsty, more unpredictable I was wrong! Did not see this one coming. Now off to find out what the final book in this series will deliver to me. Will it be the HEA these characters deserve or the end of a love they both want, need and deserve? I'm about to find out.....on to Wicked Girl! Fingers crossed!

Oooh it's getting interesting...

Everything was going so right...then bam!!! Moving along smoothly then disaster. This storyline is so fast paced I am loving it.
This one has some surprises, a little twist, an ultimatum, and that slow burn turned into some good sex.
So onto the final book and see if Haley and Jax get that HEA or not.

I read Good Girl and Wicked Girl as my last 2 reads of 2023. I skipped Bad Girl because I was so annoyed at the cliffhanger in book 1, and I just wanted to get to the HEA. But I didn't get all the answers to some of the questions so this morning I bit the bullet and read this one.

I'm rating all 3 books 3 stars, and that's simply due to the cliffhanger effect. These are relatively short books, 200ish pages, and while they would have made one very 'girthy' book if they'd all been combined, I would have been much happier as a reader.

The characters are attractive (personality-wise and looks). Haley has some interesting quirks, but she and Jax have very strong chemistry. He's a rock star musician and while this is shelved as an age-gap romance in a lot of reviews, I don't actually find their 8 year difference all that shocking.

She's dealing with growing up without knowing who her father was. Jax is dealing with some issues in his personal life that revolve around his immediate family. They come together, then they break up. Then they get back together, then they break up. So it's like the 3rd act breakup you expect, only you get it over and over again.

The writing is Very Good. I'm just personally offended by the 3 book premise. And not only that, the "bonus epilogue" is a 4th book.

Finished. Liked the characters and the story. Did not like the multi-book thing.

This recently updated edition of the Wicked trilogy not only has an amazing discreet cover but has all three books- Good Girl, Bad Girl and Wicked Girl- within one. Separated by three parts, it is easy to follow along with the audiobooks, which are available to listen to as stand alone (and on Scribd).

Synopsis: Hayley is a broke computer science student. Jax is a famous rock star. The two meet when Hayley take an internship at Jax’s label and despite the age-gap, the attraction is there. However, due to their traumatic pasts and workplace situation, the two are scared to chance.

Thoughts: Overall, this series really shocked me in the best way. I wasn’t sure at first because of the rockstar trope but Piper delivered an authentic story without the stereotypical rockstar persona. Hayley and Jax were made for each other, and I loved experiencing the moment when they were ready to put their fears aside and accept what they have. I listened to the audiobook, and Joe Arden and Savannah Peachwood did an amazing job narrating and brining the author’s words to life. We know from the start that Jax and Haley are two complicated characters with traumatic pasts, and I was impressed by how well the narrators added this emotional piece to the story you that can’t often get from reading.

Read if you like:
-Rockstar romance
-Age-gap
-Dual POVs
-Addictive storylines
-Complex, likable characters
-Computer Science
-Music labels

Thank you Valentine PR for the gifted copy!!

The second book in the Wicked series and I was on tenterhooks to know what happened next after the wicked cliffhanger the last book left us with.

This was almost as good as the first book (which I absolutely loved). The energy, the chemistry, the writing were all wonderful and I just devoured this book.

The one thing I don’t *love* is the story being split across the three parts, but fortunately I don’t have to wait for anything to come out, so in the end doesn’t have a big effect on me.

But look, Piper Lawson has mad skills, and I am going to get more of her work, because if it’s anything like this, I’m going to be a very happy reader.

Haley and Jax has there work cut out for them if they want a relationship. Jax needs to fight for Haley and Haley has to understand her self-worth before she can truly be with Jax.

This is a continuation of there story. It ended with a kiss and starts again with a friendship. This friendship morphs into a very sweet relationship of 2 people trying to fight for what they want and love even if it takes them in 2 different directions and away from one another.

Another cliffhanger at the end. Read Wicked Girl to continue.

I didn't like this one as much as the first book, but some vital things did happen. Annie found out Jax's was her real father, and he is still fighting to get her back. Of course, it pisses his sister off, but he technically has the right to do it. Haley and Jax's relationship was going strong until Haley's dad dies and leaves her the company. I knew she was going to stay, and I knew it was going to piss Jax's off. However, now, to save the company, she is going to need his help. Good luck with that, Haley! I'm excited to see how this all ends.

This book offered me an engaging storyline that kept me hooked until the surprising ending. While I thoroughly enjoyed delving into the lives of everyone and their evolving dynamics, particularly the unexpected twists, I found myself wishing for deeper insights into Jax's past. This is a promising series to follow and I will read all of the books now.

I almost gave this two stars but then the ENDING… absolutely slaughtered me. I just didn’t understand the evolution of Jax and Hayley’s relationship? It felt random and unevenly paced.

Still maintain that all three books could have been condensed into one, but excited for this to come to a HEA in book three.

Book one was 🌶️
Book two is 🌶️🌶️🌶️
