The greatest joy and fulfillment are within your reach, but they require an enduring Promise to The One…someone you might not expect. It’s not your boss, your spouse, your children, or others—no, the ultimate commitment is The Promise you make to yourself to discover your purpose and gifts and share them with the world.
Everyone has been hurt or negatively impacted by broken promises. Promise-breaking and a lack of integrity are symptomatic of the most chronic illness faced by society today. Even though many leadership courses and ethics programs tout “integrity” as a buzzword, few of us are really assessing our own values unless someone calls us out on a discrepancy. But even when others don’t catch on to the façade, when our values aren’t in alignment with our actions and when our actions aren’t consonant with our gifts and passions, we’re left feeling isolated, drained, and depressed. No recognition or acceptance from others can fill the void in the same way as when you keep a Promise to yourself and actually follow through on it.
The Promise is the highest level of engagement we commit to in any experience. The Promise is greater than a goal—it’s a sacred commitment. It’s complete dedication to identifying your Signature Moves—the unique talents you’ve been given that, when developed and used to better others’ lives, make you a Legendary Leader.
What choices do you make when no one is watching?
How do you approach a decision that requires you to let either yourself or someone else down?
How do you stay committed to your values, even when the less-rewarding path is more convenient?
A renowned speaker and performer who has helped audiences worldwide appreciate what accountability really means, Jason Hewlett shares his program for self-discovery and taking ownership of your gifts in The Promise to The One . His unique three-step method—IDENTIFY • CLARIFY • MAGNIFY—will enable you to pinpoint your strengths, shape them into an identity to which you commit, and develop them so that they can improve others’ lives as well as your own. Filled with Jason’s signature wit and vulnerability as well as actionable exercises, this book will help you refine your character and reach your dreams through the power of kept Promises.
Start your journey to living a life of Promise Making and Keeping…beginning with The Promise to The One.
Wow, how can one person have so many great stories?! The Promise To The One can help you find your personal direction in life, and maintain the dedication to stay super charged in your efforts. I binged it and loved it!
Jason Hewlett certainly is a star, even if he isn’t headlining Vegas. And he is one of the few who chooses to be a positive and moral role model in a world YouTube prima donnas. I was absolutely inspired by the stories — and the steps he shares to help each of us find our purposeful calling.
This is an awesome book with incredible insights about how we can stay focused and improve our lives by keeping the Promise
I didn’t think I would enjoy this book at first but once I began it I became totally engrossed in it. There are so many concepts that I had never considered before. I definitely want my children and grandchildren to read this book.
This book had good practical advice and interesting examples to keep my attention. I really enjoyed it. It made me think of what I want to create out of my life and how I can use my unique gifts to help others and create a legacy.
This book genuinely surprised me. Jason is a comedian, and I was pulled in by his initial points about promises he kept to himself regarding his career. It's important to know your values and stick with them, no matter what!
But then it goes further into all kinds of directions, looking at ways you can work to be your very best self. Each chapter took me in a different direction to sincerely evaluate ways I can be better there. Hewlett has really carefully thought this through! I already do work to be my best, but I feel like this has given me so much to consider.
I read this with a group of youth, and they've loved it as well. Some have told me it's their favorite we've read all year. (14 books total)
This is a really solid book and personally I like to call them memoir business of self help books. Having seen one of Jason's shows, this book has a lot more value and meaning because you already feel like you have a personal connection to them. If you haven't seen him perform and you're reading this, look online for videos! It will be worth it.
This book goes through so many aspects of life and how we can not only live life to the fullest, but also live life in a way that we would be proud and we can be truly happy and fulfilled. I liked the quotes at the beginning of each chapter in particular and enjoyed a few of the exercises that are placed at the end of the chapter to help the reader apply and execute in their own lives.
I’ve had the privilege of hearing the talented Jason Hewlett in person twice. He is an incredible performer. I laughed so hard my cheeks hurt. He also got me thinking. During his performance, touched in some of the ideas he shared in his book. I loved that! I loved that his book took those ideas and expounded and yet still entertained. So many self improvement books leave me bored, disinterested and cause my mind to wander. Not this book!
I love the exercises included in the book to help the reader think and to find their signature move and to then fulfill promises made. But not just any promise. The Promise to the One. You!
He came to my school district a few years ago and I found him very engaging and entertaining, more than other speakers we've had. I was inspired enough to buy his book and to attend one of his performances this summer at Hale Center Theater.
He's an entertainer, not so much an author. The Promise to the One is about keeping promises to yourself to become the best you can be. His method is identify, clarify, and magnify to discover your hidden talents and strengths that will improve your life and those around you.
Loved this book. I actually listened to it and loved the way the author told the reason for the book and ways to incorporate this into my life. I will listen several times so I can try my best to do the exercises.
I started reading this book last year after Christmas. Life fell apart, I had to put it down. I finally got to a point in ‘23 when I could start reading it again, albeit very slowly. I finally finished it today & am glad I did. Jason Hewlett is very inspiring!
i loved this interesting, inspiring, funny book about and from Jason Hewlitt Known him for a long time but found this book after a re ent performance he did at Hale theater. He’s pretty amazing👍
What are your promises to yourself? I loved this approach rather than a goal. Although they are essentially one and the same, making a promise to yourself is far more powerful. I highly recommend this book and if you ever have the chance to see him perform live…take advantage and make it happen.
