I've been following the author's weblog (TheFinanceBuff.com) and incorporating many useful information to my personal finance. This book provides clear explanation and many practical insights under various topics including everyday banking; investing in low-cost index funds to build a diversified portfolio (with examples of specific funds); contributing to tax-advantaged vehicles including the typical 401k, IRA, and the lesser-known After-Tax (non-Roth) 401k plan aka "Mega Backdoor Roth"; minimizing taxes on investment earnings; handling ESPP and Restricted Stock Units from employer; choosing insurances, contributing to Health Savings Account, picking the best HSA custodian, and many other tips. It also includes resources to find higher-yielding CDs, I Bonds, and software tools. I wish I had this book when first studying personal finance because everything is put together systematically and comprehensively cover-to-cover. It's easy enough for the beginner to understand, yet there are helpful tools for the more advanced as well.

Great overview of the key financial issues!

This is a well written, easy read that provides just the right amount of general financial information for most folks. I believe the author achieves the stated goals of covering the key aspects of each area that help the reader get the most benefit without venturing too far into the weeds. The "set and forget" and "good enough" recommendations should help most readers improve their financial plans and put them in a better position to retire comfortably.

The stuff everyone should be taught but aren’t.

I like Harry’s writing. This is crystal clear - just like his book about TIPS. This is a book for everyone. It took me about 3 hours to read and I got a handful of ideas making it well worth my time. It’s like having a trusted friend explain all their financial decisions to you (but we’ve never met). I’ll be buying two more copies to give to my kids.

Great finance 101,201 book

I really liked the book. I advise 20+ people (for free) about personal finance for the last 10+ years. I found the author and I think alike (both being bogleheads) and additionally some good advice and perspectives some of which I marked for myself to implement. I am going to communicate with the author hopefully he will make some additions for the future editions. That being said I highly encourage you to purchase this book. This was my first kindle book purchase and it was absolutely worth it.
I typically make a book summary and add it in the review but for this book I won’t because of the overall nature of the content and that I want to take the author’s permission first and discuss his plan to expand for the next edition.

Comprehensive without being complicated

Excellent Job by the author. This book managed to be very comprehensive but written ln laymanish terms so a beginner would not be overwhelmed. I like how Harry gives an action plan checklist for each chapter topic. He also shares the products that he uses. Some people will benefit with specific recommendations if they struggle with too many choices.

I have read a lot of books about investing and finances but I learned things from this book. Harry's approach to investing is simple but more complex approaches do not necessarily result in better returns and are daunting to most people. Some folks call complexity "job security for advisors." Harry addresses advisors, insurance, taxes, banking. retirement accounts and estate planning. I think a new investor could do well with just this book.

Book is crystal. It’s not going to give you 100% what to do but it will guide you in the right direction. Looking forward to exploring some of the additional information provided on some topics.

Also, I can’t believe a 10 year discontinued software for tracking personal money is still the best option but I suppose I’m going to have to make the jump and give it a try. Spreadsheets are just “not good enough”.

On point

This does a very good job of covering all the bases of money management in a down-to-earth, first-person style. Recommended.

Good overview. Even though I stay on top of these things, I still found a few items to pay attention to :)
