The Cultural Politics of Food and Eating: A Reader

Rate this book
Rather than replicating an anthology of classic writings on food or the anthropology of food, this title addresses the study of food in relation to larger themes that are emerging in social anthropology: globalization, capitalism, 'new' market economies, and consumption practices.

(Read in 2013, review from 2023)

I took a class with one of the editors (Watson) and it honestly was one of the best classes I took in college even if it wasn't in my major. The book was one of the required texts and it was very useful and informative.

An interesting reread from my college days, but not something I need to revisit. Some essays significantly better than others.
