Rescued by her Alien Protector is book nine in the Warriors of the Lathar series by Mina Carter.

Danaar and Madison’s story has been in the background of previous books and hinted at, but now we get to see them together.

As things go greedy ignorant men of Earth scheme to get ride of an honest hard working women. Danaar has been intrigued by the VP from the start.

I’ve enjoyed reading this series, but this time around I was a bit miffed. The first 50% of the book is a repeat of previous books from the two main characters POV’s. It felt unnecessary, but once we get past the repeat aspect, I enjoyed reading.

We get some cameos from previous characters; Cameron and Daaynal and even some of the crazy Warborne.

Rescued by her Alien Protector was an ok read. Not my favorite, but I’ll still be reading on.

Whose side are you on
Espionage, intrigue, love and a prison on a frozen world, this book has so many exciting elements with twists and turns that keep the story moving forward until the HEA. I loved all of the characters, even snarky Sparky, although there was at least one more person I wish would have come out of the cold with them. I can’t wait to see who comes out of the shadows in the next book. And will the Emperor ever find his true HEA? His caring for his people must mean he deserves a union blessed by the goddess. I can hardly wait to see what happens next.

This one takes us back in time to just before Vice President Madison Cole was arrested and sent to prison planet Mirax Ruas. We get her backstory as she meets the Lathar, comes aboard the ship (at this point this overlaps with Dani Black’s story), and falls in lust with Danaar K’Vass. There is a lot of insta-lust between these two - Danaar knows that he wants to claim this woman and make her his, while she isn’t quite ready to get married...she has a few things to figure out surrounding her career first. In fact, I was surprised that, as a VP acting as a diplomat, she nearly jumps into a claiming unknown because she thought she could have casual sex...the only thing that saved her from ending up married was Danaar’s communication and clear boundaries (i.e., if we do this, we will be mated). This was quite honorable of Danaar, which I appreciated about him. He was a bit pushy and definitely wanted to be mated now rather than later, but he wasn’t forceful or tricky about it (unlike in Dani’s story). He respects the fact that Madison has a job to complete back on Earth’s ship, although I wonder how he’d feel if Madison had decided she wanted to continue being VP…

So, Madison returns to take care of business regarding some betraying generals and ends up arrested and sent off to a bad ass prison planet where people rarely survive. Danaar finds out the woman who is to be his mate is off to certain death and he...bides his time. Honestly, I expected the man to hie off rashly and tear that prison planet apart. Instead, he realizes he can’t do much yet, gets promoted to war general, realizes that doesn’t get him anywhere, and then decides to go off in search of someone who can help him with a mission to rescue Madison. All the while when we’re in his head, it doesn’t really feel like he’s desperate to get her back. Now Madison’s desperation comes across clearly enough. She’s in an awful place and this is written quite well. But in the reading of this story, it feels like Danaar drags his feet and there’s no sense of urgency from him. I guess I liked the fact that he kept a level-head and didn't do anything stupid, but I wanted him to be just a bit more worried about Madison. He eventually makes the rescue, with the help of a mercenary team (including a Lathar who is the hero of the next book). Their reunion is well done and they head off home where they learn that the emperor is quite pleased that Danaar disobeyed orders to get his woman back.

This one was a lot better than some of the earlier ones where the hero is usually forceful or dishonorable about how he gets his girl, and I like the heading off somewhere else for adventure and meeting new people part of this. I did not care for the trip down memory lane with Dani’s story, which was my least favorite since she got tricked into being mated with a Lathar.

This series never disappoints! I am so in love with these characters! I love the quirkiness of the individual people in these pages, and I look forward to reading each one as they come out! My problem is that once I start reading one, I can't stop until the last page, and then I'm sad because it's over so soon, lol. Danaar is a sweet alien and absolutely obsessive about his female. Madison, a woman with poise and power and class, becomes a different person with him. I was intrigued by the storyline, the betrayal, and ohmygosh, the evil that men can do at the expense of women, and that held my interest even more than the romance. When Madison got betrayed, I didn't think she'd survive, but even the grittiness of her existence was written so well that I felt like I was right there with her. I thought Sparky was hilarious and I just hope that a surprise comes out of the tunnels or there is a return there in a later book. The Wraith Queen has some serious skills. I am leaving this review because I enjoyed it so much I have to let the world know that they have to read this book! I'll admit that anything Mina Carter writes is a thing of beauty that I have to read because her style of writing is so enjoyable, including engaging characters, witty dialogue, intriguing plots, and detailed action scenes as well as some really hot bedroom scenes, or elevator scenes, you know what I mean! It's a lovely book, you should read it!

Still one of my favourite series to read.
Ms Carter has done extremely well in writing this book.
The fact that Madison’s story runs parallel and flows through quite a few of the previous books has been well merged to bring us up to date.
Madison, unbeknownst to us readers, had actually been claimed and had mated with Danaar.
We also get a couple of new characters and some time with others we have met before.
Once again earth and its ignorant, greedy, politicians, mainly egotistical men, do their best to destroy everything with violence or apathy. No matter being outclassed they persist in their own Machiavelli schemes of greed and dishonesty.
I really enjoyed how this panned out but there was an awful lot of diplomatic and subtle manoeuvring being carried out by both the earth president Murphy and Daaynal, the Latharian Emperor.
Didn’t get a clean, wrapped up ending.
Do not know if Madison will be able to return to her position as Vice President, even though it was a trumped-up kangaroo court trial.
I would love her to be able to move forward in this series and continue the good work she had been attempting to do. She obviously had been attempting to work for the betterment of humanity. Let’s hope she can do something about Mirax Ruas having lived those conditions herself.
So hope that some of this will be incorporated in the next book or two.
This is my honest review of this book.

Vice President Cole was briefly introduced in the previous book or perhaps even earlier. It was only a matter of time for her to find her own Latharian. Madison was a wonderful female role model. She had a calculating mind, was a formidable negotiator and stateswoman. She was definitely an impressive woman. Danaar K'Vass was drawn to her immediately and wanted to claim her. The chemistry between Danaar and Madison was off the charts. I don't want to leave any spoilers but I will say they have challenges on the way to their HEA. I love this series and like how the characters from earlier books show up. I am still waiting for a book about the Emperor Daaynal and hope he finds his mate but it doesn't look like it will happen in the next book.

Don't often read a book in one day but anything Latharian deserves immediate attention; especially any of Mina Carter's works. This story is a long time coming and is full of action, drama, head butts with The Emperor, recaps of plots from previous books to refresh the reader's memory, introduction of new characters, hints of a new series to come, and a commitment to live and love forever. What more could a reader ask for. This was a pleasure to read for the ARC I got through Bookfunnel.

A but disappointing

I usually love reading this authors books and eagerly await each new book. However, on this occasion I was left feeling somewhat miffed. For the first 51% of the book it just went back over what had happened in previous books admittedly from the 2 main characters point of view but still it felt to me totally unnecessary. Hopefully, the next book in the series will live up to my expectations.

I totally love any of the books in Mina Carters Warriors of the Lathar and Lathar Mercenaries series. These books are automatic one-clicks for me. The women in these series are strong. If they don't start out that way they certainly become that way. The men are hot. They love their women and are totally dedicated to them. The stories are well written and flow nicely. There are few if any typos. Sometimes the British colloquialisms throw me for a loop. The characters are all very different and there's no mistaking one for the other. They don't merge into one in my mind. Locations and scenes are described so that you can easily picture them in your mind. Each book has it's own HEA for the main couple but there's always a little something that let's you know that there will be another book to follow. I just wish that the stories were a little longer.

Danaar second in command to War Command Fenriis knew vice President Madison Cole was his mate the moment he looked into her eyes. Madison had agreed to Danaar's claiming, but requested he keep it quite for the time being while she dealt with the people trying to start a war with their idiotic attempt to attack the Lathar on their own ship. Danaar reluctantly agreed. Madison has underestimated the people who want her out of the way and is now on her way to one of the most notorious prisons where the Terran's send their criminals, Mirax Ruas. Daaynal Emperor of the Lathar has just appointed Danaar War Commander to his own ship, but has refused his request to go to Mirax Ruas to retrieve Vice President Madison Cole. Danaar has made the decision to go against orders and has contacted the Warborne Mercenaries to help with his mission. He prays to his goddess that Madison will stay alive till he arrives. He also prays the Emperor will understand his decision and not execute him on the spot for his insubordination. This book has action, romance and danger from start to finish. I thank Mina Carter for the review copy and I also had this book on pre order, so I am a verified purchase. There is another book in this series out in May. I am so looking forward to reading more about the Warborne Lathar Mercenaries.

This story has been percolating in the background of the previous books - always hinted at and never quite fully established all the details. Now we get to the see the awesomeness that is Dannar and Madison!

Madison may be a former war correspondent but her real claim to fame - she is an HONEST politician. Pity that those she work with also know this and hatch a plan to get rid of her once and for all. But they did not plan on one giant wrinkle in their plans - Danaar.

Dannar has been intrigued by the VP for some time. He's quick to lay claim to her and Madison is receptive to the claim - she just has to get her affairs in order and figure out how to mesh their very different lives together. Before she has a chance to she is abducted and thrown into a jail that makes hell look like a country club!

There are some great cameos from characters we have previously met including Cameron Murphy and Daaynal, the Emperor, and even some of the crazy-ass Warborne! I loved meeting Indra and the other new characters too.

Cannot wait to see what happens next - Daaynal is going to fall hard I just know it!

I absolutely adored this story! I have been waiting for Madison and Danaar's story for a few books now. I was so happy that this one jumped backwards and picked up where they first met. There was so much we didn't get to see and know about back then. I loved these characters and it was really cool getting to see different parts come together from having read the books prior to these one and after Madison had been introduced to the series. This story pulled me in from beginning to end. There was quite a few moving parts that made everything happen and definitely held my attention. I loved getting to see the different sides of Danaar and Madison and am super excited for the next books in this series. I would recommend reading the books prior to this one though it is not needed. This book is about a different couple and we get their whole story in this book but there are a lot of interconnected parts from previous books in the series that add to this book. I have thoroughly enjoyed this book and this series and hope that the next one comes soon.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

YES, this is the book I have been waiting for since the beginning when we learned about VP Madison Cole and her fate. Danaar knew they were mates but we all know what happened. Madison was betrayed by General Hopkins and Radcliffe and now on Mirax Ruas. Sure we have to read up to that point again but it’s still worth finding out some of the back story from what happened from their POV.
Finding out the details of how the betrayal came about is intense. Knowing what Madison and Danaar had gone through and then to be ripped apart, was aggravating. And to read about how Madison is treated. The way the made up charges and what she had to endure in that prison. Read the procedures entering the prison was cold and hard. UGH, you just want to scream like Danaar did when he found out that they imprisoned her. Their passion was hot as all the other Latharian couples. We also meet Zero. Look forward to reading that book. Lots of action and HEA. Now we just need to know what happened at the end. Who wants to talk with Admiral Radcliffe? Is it Madison and Danaar or someone else?

Rescued by Her Alien Protector ( Warriors of the Lathar 9)

I began the series at the end. I began with the Latharian Mate Program. I saw many of these people in that book. I loved that book and when I realized Mina Carter had a whole series I needed to know how it got started.
This book was different. It was about Danaar falling for the Vice- President Madison Cole. She accepts his claim. Unfortunately, she leaves to go solve a problem on Earth. She didn't realize she was walking right into a trap. The minute she was off the ship she was arrested and sent to the worst prison in the world. Mirax Rous.
Danaar becomes a war commander but takes leave to find his bride. She hooks up with a rough bunch but they kept her safe. Danaar also hooked up with the best of the worst mercs. To get in. They brought in a "dead wraith".
So happy for him to see his mating bonds. It meant no matter what anyone said, he got his girl, his wife back!
Really happy for Danaar! He was so happy to have Madison.

A must read!

Excellent!

I’ve loved this series, and was not disappointed with book 11! The action takes place concurrently with the happenings of book 10, so some of the situations are familiar but you’re seeing them from completely different perspectives. Vice President Madison Cole finds her love then through treacherous means, is shipped off to a supermax prison. It is up to her warrior, Danaar, to rescue her in a way that doesn’t start an all out war between the Lathar and Earth. Mina Carter is an expert at creating characters the reader can connect with, intense action, and a storyline that only gets better over time. By the end of the book, I’m already dying to read the next one! The day will come when our crafty, insanely smart, drop dead gorgeous, badass super-warrior Emperor will find his one. I keep hoping to see it, but am excited that he is still waiting- because that means the story isn’t over yet!

I have really enjoyed this whole series. This one takes place in the middle of other stories in the series. I recommend reading them all in order for the most enjoyment.

She is a tough woman who has worked hard and is determined to find a way to work with the Lathar. Others don't share her opinion and it puts her in jeopardy. Fortunately, she has a strong warrior on her side. He won't give up on her.

I knew some of the story from the other books that overlap with the time period. I had been looking forward to reading their story.

Their connection is immediate. He is not the kind of warrior to ignore his desire and really presses forward in his pursuit. I liked how honest they were with each other from the start. They didn't deny their feelings or the conflicts keeping them apart.

I am voluntarily reviewing a copy I received.

This for me has to be the long await book, I was soo glad to read Madison's story!! I was patient and bided my time mostly.

Danaar omg just oozes sexy and Madison damn she got hot and controlled to a T. But just how controlled is she when the Mr hotness is near her?

Madison is used to running things. She was the VP of the state's FFS. and all that is well and fine until she tries to get the 'invading forces' and her forces to co-mingle and get an alliance set in place.
Danaar and Madison. Dang. won't be easy by a long shot, is it worth though? Will the two be able to come to a meeting of the minds as easily as the meeting of there bodies? which was off the effing charts!! OMGs Mina!

Loved the characters and how Mina filled their personalities. The story is fun and fit right into the ongoing Series.

💢 Definitely a Must Read! As with all the other books Lathar Warriors always took care of the women.
🔹️ Madison Cole is Earth’s Vice President, talking to the Lathar Commander or was it the Emperor doesn’t matter all earth wanted is peace. Especially when she see Danaar he was absolutely breathtaking. But some Generals wanted war, so they lied an betrayed the Vise President.
🔹️Danaar K’Vass saw the Vise President and knew he would claim her. But before he did- Earth’s betrayal may have put a damper on it. Doesn’t matter he would prevail.
☄️ This review is my own opinion, this author is one that I love to read her books.

"She nodded, feeling as if she was navigating a minefield without a map, blindfolded, while riding a tap-dancing elephant."

We caught a glimpse of Madison and Danaar in at least one previous story (that of Major General Dani Black), but here they come front and center, and we are with them from their first encounter.

This story pivots around how easy first/early contact between two Alien cultures can go wrong... how easily events could collapse into not just conflict but war, and Vice President Madison Cole is realistic enough to see the Lathar are the more technologically advanced, superior power in this exchange.

When others are lashing out in fear, she is constantly trying to think of ways to maintain not just peace, but a solid, positive relationship... unfortunately, there will always be those who fear the new and unknown.

Danaar K’Vass had found his human mate and lost her in the blink of an eye but he would risk his honor and his life to rescue her. Madison Cole was to secure negotiations between the Lathar and the Terran, nothing else. But looks like something was in the air because the attraction and lust she was feeling for the handsome Lathar warrior was not on her agenda. Liked Madison strong, smart and decided character. Had been waiting for her and Danaar's story and I had not been let down. Good, interesting, suspenseful and passionate with a dangerous adventure that had me intrigued all the time with the mercenaries, the wraiths and Murphy’s hidden agenda. What an interesting series! An interesting and entertaining book with an exciting plot development and dangerous situations.

Danaar never expected to find his mate in the vice president. But when she is imprisoned and sentenced to hard labor will he do what is necessary to save her?
I loved seeing Danaar get his happily ever. The loss of Madison has found it's way in previous stories so I loved that Ms. Carter decided to show us how Danaar and Madison came to be. I loved that both Danaar and Madison had a strong sense of honor. Both were willing to fight for their beliefs and each other.
This story is full of twists and turns as Danaar and Madison find their way. I thoroughly enjoyed their journey and looked forward to where Ms. Carter will take us next in this world she has created.

I think this was the best hero of the series so far. He showed (some) respect for the heroine’s right to choose, and the choices that she made.

**spoilers**
I liked that the hero was willing to give up everything for the heroine.
One thing I found weird was that the heroine never asked what she would DO as the hero’s mate. I mean, she’s the Vice President of earth (or was it the USA? I forget) and she just agrees to mate him without discussing the future at all? A likely story 😒
The new characters were interesting. I wish we saw more about the wraiths and whether some of them managed to escape.

Rescuing

When they seen each other instant attraction. Ás vice president she had to be tuff as nails and informed , all details all around her. He was slowly charming her and to his way of thinking. She needed to clean up the mess that a general made and find out who was behind it till she can be with her mate. She was framed and send to prison and it took some doing till he was able to find her. Like a man who escaped the same prison and some mercenaries to help him. They saved her and the woman who's been helping since the beginning. He's helping her to find out what's going on with her being framed.

Madame V.P. Madison Cole wants to establish a line of communication between Earth and the Lathar.
Diplomacy takes a hit when a few government rogues conduct an incident causing a disastrous sequence of events.
Danaar, an up and coming candidate for War Commander of the Latharian Empire realizes that Madison is his mate.

Complete but Repeating

I was a little disappointed that so much of the story was repeated portions of previous episodes of The Warriors of the Lather. Since I am binge reading all the episodes in order I feel that there was a little too much repeated portions from previous titles. The new material was very good and kept my focus in the end. Because these books are not available on Kindle Unlimited, and the author is asking full price, I didn't feel I could give it as many stars as I usually do for Mina Carter's stories.

Action, intrigue, ice worms and more this newest addition sure packed a lot in such a quick read. Loved Danaar and Madison, their journey started hot and kept me entertained as the heart wants what the heart wants. Loyalty is tested and love plays a role when danger keeps these two separated but not forgotten. Fast paced with all the drama, twist and HEA level that made for a must read in this series that gets better and better. Can’t wait for the next read!
