In this town, Police Detective Savannah Wilcox is the one who uncovers the truth. After a grisly murder occurs, it quickly becomes clear the death is connected to an ongoing investigation. And she’s certain this killer will strike again.
Private Investigator Tate Hudson has some secrets of his own. The prime suspect in a murder just might be the one who’s going to solve the whole case—if he can control the chaos swirling around him. The clock has expired on both of their secrets, but the truth just might set them free.

She’s discovered a penchant for high-stakes stories of mayhem and disaster where you can find made-for-each-other love that always ends in happily ever after.
Lisa is a British ex-pat who grew up an hour outside of London and attended Calvary Chapel Bible College, where she met her husband. He’s from California, but nobody’s perfect. It wasn’t until her Bible College graduation that she figured out she was a writer (someone told her). Lisa is a worship leader, tea aficionado, and dog lover of two crazy Airedales.
Last Chance County Book 1 was very good, but this one, Expired Secrets, is exceptional! Savannah is a complicated woman with complicated secrets. The last thing she needs is more complications and mixed feelings about Tate. She’s not even sure they are on the same side, and law and justice are her life.
The secrets swarming around them as they both try to untangle this mystery make for a story you won’t want to put down. The action and suspense are riveting, and the characters are as real as it gets.
This novel stands alone just fine, but I’m glad I read the first one, and I can’t wait for the next one.
Expired Secrets is amazing. We learn more about Police Detective Savannah Wilcox and private investigator Tate Hudson, both with secrets of their own. Tate's ex wife has a daughter Elexa from her second marriage. He has to continue to navigate how to be a father figure to Elexa, giving her room but also being there for her. I finished Expired Secrets in a day and enjoyed how Tate and Savannah worked on solving the mystery and uncovering the truth. Looking forward to book 3.
Tate, a P.I. with an FBI background, has a lot of things already on his plate before someone decides to frame him for murder. Fortunately they made the mistake of going to his office after work to hide the murder weapon. He was upstairs in his apartment when it was going down. As he went into his own office, he was attacked by a masked man with a knife. Savannah heard him scream when the man cut his arm. She gave chase, but he got away. A very fast paced mystery with many layers. A major page turner highly recommended!
This was a great suspense novel. There were so many twists and turns to the plot. Dead bodies keeping appearing and Savanah and Tate along with the rest of the police department are trying to find the person responsible. Even the person they have in prison ends up being poisoned. Savanah and Tate take a physical beating in this book. You wonder how they were even able to keep going. Such a sweet love story between the two of them though. Enjoyed it because I never did guess who was behind all the murders - that's how many twists and turns there were to this book. It was awesome!
I liked this book! It’s a whole lot better than the first book in the series. I will definitely keep on reading the series.
“Faith didn’t make you perfect, and it didn’t solve your issues. Just gave you hope. Let you lean on something. God wasn’t a ticket to riches, dame, or even the guarantee of a good life. But it could be a whole lot better than being on your own with no one to rely on but yourself.”
Though this is book two in the Last Chance County series it is all about fresh starts and closure from circumstances in the past. It is about learning to trust again after being hurt and betrayed. You will find it hard to put down. You will benefit by reading book 1 but will find it can easily stand on its own. As I leave this book behind I am going to start book 3 ASAP! I love the characters and the stories Lisa Harris creates!
We got a good look at these characters in book one. This book took up where it left off, both in mystery and complications of relationship. This was a book that kept pushing forward with action, murder, suspense, and faith. I loved getting to know more about these characters and watch them learn to trust each other. It was a great installment in this series and I’m excited to move on to the next book.
The first part was a little slow, but gave the reader history of the players. By chapter 2 I was on the way to being thoroughly hooked. Having to stay in and self isolate gave me all the time I needed to be totally sucked into the storyline. Began and finished the same day. Kudos, my friend for a job well done. Cant wait for your next book. Chop, chop!
Lisa does a wonderful job of combining some romance with a whole lot of action and suspense. I was on the edge of my chair, afraid to see what was going to happen next, but at the same time, wanting to continue reading to see what happened. I highly recommend this book for those who like suspense stories.
Lisa Phillips second book of the Last Chance series keeps up the suspense. Tate, former FBI turned PI, is framed for murder. Savannah, a police detective, has secrets and the one person who knows has been murdered. They have to work together to find a killer.
As always Lisa makes the characters believable and keep you turning the pages.
Really enjoyed this one. I liked both Savannah and Tate from Book 1, loved their banter, and was happy to read more about them. I did feel their characters were well developed and believable. The writer does introduce a lot of characters, but it is becoming easier for me to keep them all straight while binge reading.
Love. This. The romance is sweet & only slightly fraught. The new town is just corrupt enough to intrigue, with characters whose depth and faith don’t let you down. The action keeps you guessing. Keep them coming, please!
This author has a knack for writing awesome stories!!! She keeps you on the edge of your seat. Yet you can't wait to get to the next page, then the next and then the next!!! The characters are awesome, too.
I enjoyedl this romantic suspense filled with plenty of suspense, twists and turns. The storyline and the characters were Intriguing. This book is recommended for those who love Christian romantic suspense.
Wow,that was very exciting, interesting, and full of real people. I think the who done it was never cleared up. So maybe the next story will tell who else is the bad guy pulling the strings.
Enjoyed this second visit to Last Chance County and getting to know Tate and Savannah! Each had secrets that came to light as the story progressed and lessons that were learned. A major secret in the story was carried over to the next book so I’m on to book 3!
This is Savannah and Tate's stories. They are introduced in the first book and I was looking forward to reading their backstories. Great book, full of action, suspense, a touch of romance, spiritual aspect, really enjoyed it.
Lisa Phillips writes an excellent suspense story. She weaves plots and characters together that really kept me involved in the story. Tate and Savannah are complicated, and edgy, and downright adorable.
High level people are getting brutally murdered. Fingers are pointing at a police officer and a private investigator. Add to all of this - a dodgy federal agent. A little more romance than I like, but still a good story.
Lots of action, secrets and a good search for “who done it” lol. Loved this book and can’t wait for the next one! Lisa Phillips has another great hit!!
I enjoy Lisa Phillips’ books because they are written like a TV movie and fun to read. The plot is well formed, and the good guys get wounded just enough.
This book is so good! I literally could not put it down. This series is some of my first to read by this author, but it will definitely not be the last!
