Lost. Stolen. Forgotten… until the Alphabits step in.
A Team A.L.P.H.A. spinoff series.
Patton Ryder has always taken pride in the differences between him and his twin brother, Ozzy. But now that Ozzy is mated and has a growing family, Patton is starting to realize that maybe being completely different isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
Axel Wilson is extremely protective of his former street crew, a bunch of child thieves who are under the care of his mentor, Saul Hagin. But Saul is dead, and Saul’s mate Ira has dollar signs where his heart should be. Not knowing what else to do, Axel makes a call for help, not realizing that his problem is going to land smack dab in front of the Alphabits, and drop him right on top of his true mate’s lap.
Just because they’re mates doesn’t mean Patton trusts the former thief, but the more they dig into the case and Axel’s past, the more he realizes that Axel has a giant heart full of love that has never been returned the way it ought to. But that gentle heart might be forever scarred if they can’t rescue the kids from Ira’s cold machinations soon enough.
The Alphabits aren’t vigilantes. These former soldiers and officers of the law have to do things by the book—even when it tears them apart to do so. But once all their ducks are in a row, the bad guys had better beware! You do not want this team of protective alphas on your tail.
This is the fifth in the Alphabits series, and should be read in order for maximum enjoyment. You can expect to find naughty, knotty scenes of steamy passion, along with a lot of potty-mouth language and some violence. Be ready for a go-go dancing snow leopard, the rolliest and polliest of hedgehogs and the first appearance of a vortex in the Team ALPHA world. HEA definitely included, intended for 18+ readers only. Seriously, would you expect anything less from Susi Hawke and Crista Crown?
I'm a total fan of M/PREG Paranormal Romances, first and foremost as a reader. I'm excited to share my own omegaverse(s) with you. What's not to love about adorable Omegas and the Alpha men who love them? If I'm not writing about men sporting baby bumps, I'm definitely reading about them!
I'm a native of Las Vegas, NV, so I'm pre-wired to love everything weird ~ although I don't find any kind of love to be weird. I'm a cis woman who's been happily married to the same lovable lug for 18 years. We have a 16yr old son, well, at least I think we do? Either that, or we have a ghost that eats all our food and uses up all wifi playing xbox while screaming into a headset.
As a new author, it's been amazing to find the amount of support that I've been given from readers and my fellow authors. Feel free to message me, I love to chat with fellow readers. Am I a reader? Heck yeah! In fact, I'm never certain that I can completely trust an author who isn't a fellow bibliophile.
I will try to update here when I'm doing promotional parties & chats. I usually do those on Facebook. If you haven't already signed up for my newsletter, you should totally do it! I only send out NL's to announce new releases or important announcements. I also like to note in my NL what I'm currently reading along with a cover shot and the link for anyone who is interested.
I love a toppy omega, and this episode of Susi Hawke and Crista Crown’s Alphabits series has the toppiest. It was great to finally see Patton get his true mate, and the way he rolls over for Axel is perfect.
Twisted is the fifth book in this wonderful series, and while you could definitely enjoy them as standalones, the relationships between the characters are more fun when you do this one in order.
The perfect choice as the narrator for this series, John Solo’s performances have been marvelous. He captures the dynamics of the relationships so beautifully, keeps the dramatic moments as intense as the authors have written them, and brings the humor to keep the whole thing rolling along.
This is a fantastic theme for a series and the authors are doing an amazing job with this one.
an audiobook copy of Twisted (Alphabits #5) was provided for the purpose of my review
Family, team and loyalty all come to the surface with this twisted cold case breaking wide open!

I totally loved Patton and Axel together. Yes, Patton had a few slip ups to start with in regards to trust since Axel was a former child thief but they sorted it out, Patton knew he’d stuffed up but didn’t know how to fix it. Axel found a way for Patton to tell him that he’s sorry and punished him appropriately. I loved that it was something that Patton had never done before so it made it that much more special since he was experiencing it with his true mate for the first time. That’s what I like about Susi’s books as she doesn’t mind mixing things up than just sticking with the usual defined alpha/omega roles in shifter books but just because someone’s an alpha it doesn’t mean they can’t love kids and be a Manny and work for Child Services like Adrian’s brother Tony or that an omega can’t be the more dominant in the relationship like Cody, isn’t afraid to use a firm hand like Axel or a complete and utter bada*se like Pax with his giant glittery purple knife. I loved the relationship between Axel and wee Maddie and it was made even more special when Patton accepted her as part of their family pretty much straight away. I loved how they got her hair fixed up for her after Ira cut her ponytail off as a way to abuse and humiliate her and got her new trendy glasses with the correct prescription you could just see her confidence grow it was awesome to see. Patton and Ozzy’s mum is a trip. I also loved seeing Patton and Ozzy mend bridges especially after Axel worked out that Patton pretty much did a lot of the stuff just to annoy Ozzy, like having his yard a complete mess and painting his house black. I’m looking forward to reading Cyrus’s book as I’d love to know more about him, as you can tell that he loves his brothers but it seems that he hasn’t seen them in years. I’d definitely recommend this book, series and both authors to everyone.
This story was a parody of the Oliver Twist classic. The Alphabits get a call about shifter kids in trouble they jumped right on it. The kids are being made to steal in order to have a place to sleep and a little something to eat. The shifter kids were punished by not being allowed to know the location of where the rest of the kids were hunkering down or if allowed to come to where everyone else was there was no dinner given.
These young shifters had no place to call home, forced to commit crimes, and feeling they had nowhere else to go especially after they had been mistreated in the foster system. They had been rescued from a bad situation only to end up in a much worse place. Though they had been berated, abused, and neglected they still had each other. It was a miserable life but it could be much worse so their "guardian" told them repeatedly.
Patton didn't want to show his brother how jealous he was of his mated family life. Despite being twins it was always a game of one upmanship that carried into their adult lives. The antagonism between the two was noted by his mate's brother Lance. Even Ozzy's new mate Axel notice a wrongness about their fraternal bond. He encouraged Ozzy to act better and Patton made a concerted effort to change. Making his mate happy was his priority.
Since Book 4 when Ozzy found his mate and kidnapped brother-in-law, the twins began making small changes to make their relationship better and surprising to them much less contentious. I really liked how there were so many new shifters introduced. And the great impact they had on each other's lives. The Alphabits guys and their mates really stepped it up to meet the needs of those rescued. It was wonderful to see the Team A.L.P.H.A. members, their mates, and children join the Alphabits for a gathering.
I was so happy that Patton found his mate sooner rather then later in this series. Axel broke my heart. Having everything you own fit into a backpack was too much for me. I loved that he cared so much for the kids & made the sacrifice to contact the Alphabits (copers) to try and save them from Ira who was a nasty POS. I wished he would have been snagged by STAHP & turned into minced meat. The rules he made up for the street kids was just wrong! The story is not only the mating of Axel & Patton but the investigation in finding the kids and once finding them, finding good homes for them. I'm glad that Maddie stayed with them and became part of their family. I don't recall them ever saying "I love you" to each other. I may be wrong but I just don't remember it. I would love seeing more of the MC's in this series in their shifted forms running & playing.

Patton and Axel come from two different worlds, but together they make a beautiful couple. I liked that this wasn’t an insta-love and that there is even a moment of doubt for the two. Though it didn’t start off on a positive note, the two do learn to trust each other.
The two work together with the help of the other Alphabits to save specific street kids Axel grew up with. Getting them off the streets and into loving homes.
Their story is funny, sweet and even a little emotional at times, especially when it comes to Maddie. I loved that they were surrounded by so much love and friendship. I think it really helped Axel and Maddie feel like they were wanted and were finally home.
Both Maddie and Spencer’s story have been my absolute favorite so far. I was glad Spencer was in this story a well.
John Solo does another amazing job with giving each character their own voice and bringing on the emotions at the right moments.
Twisted is my favorite book in this series so far! This is the one that reminds me most of the original series, Team ALPHA. There was just that little something missing from all the other books that this one had. And I just loved it so much.
Axel and Patton are just so cute together. A little unexpected in their relationship dynamics, but so adorable together. I almost peed my pants laughing when Ozzy walked in on them unexpectedly 🤣. I loved that Axel had this really great big brother energy when it came to protecting all the kids from the theft ring. I also really loved that Patton had such a dad energy about him. And together, Axel and Patton are such good parents to Maddie and Jasmine.
I really loved this book. And like I said, it’s my favorite in the series so far. I’m hoping that the last few books in the series have the same kinda feel to them. This one gets a solid four and a half out of five stars.
*WARNING* contains explicit m/m sexual situations Patton is the twin brother of Oz. Patton loves spending time with his brother's twin babies. Patton loves his work with Alphabits. Patton never really thought about finding his own mate. Axel is an ex-thief who has a job as a real job as a go-go dancer. Axel worked with a crew to steal to keep a roof over their heads and food in their bellies, but now Saul is dead and Axel is to old for the crew. Axel is afraid for the kids still there though. At least this one didn't have a surprise visit from STAHP. I like these stories. These are a great bunch of characters. The plots are mostly about rescuing or saving children. There's always a happy ending.
Wow was this book awesome! I enjoyed Patton more than I first thought I would but his mate Axel was a show stealer.
Character breakdown;
Patton: Good alpha, loved that he wasn't as alpha as everyone else but still protective enough of goods mate and children.
Axel: I loved the snow leopard! He wasn't too sassy but wasn't too much omega or other. He was just himself!
I noticed one thing in this book, the characters never officially said I love you to each other. And I also loved the slight slow burn and pacing of the two is them being together. There wasn't a Insta love but an Insta like lol.
Patton and Axel find their way to trust and love. Finding their mate is amazing, but there are still things that they have to work out. Trust and respect take time and they find their way through communication and trial and error. I really enjoyed Axel in this story, he was a strong and independent man and he found a way to be himself and be mated to a strong man.
I enjoyed the development of the different kids that they were searching for and how special each of them were. I loved the character of Maddie, who is just the cutest little hedgehog.
Twisted is the fifth book in the Alphabits series and i am enjoying each new book! This is a good addition to the rest of the series.
Twisted is the fifth book in the Alphabits series by Susi Hawke and Crista Crown. It is filled with humor, sexytimes, "family" being family, sweetness, and getting rid of the "bad guys". Its a great addition to the rest of the series.
Axelrod and Patton are great characters, even though I wanted to smack Patton for a moment near the beginning. But Axel is awesome a forgiving thankfully. The supporting characters are amazing and fun too. They have created a family that are fierce Protectors, loving and fun... and full of pranks.
Oh, how I love this Alphabits series! I loved this book. Patton, the alpha wolf who’s the twin brother of last story’s one, is a fun and protective one, and Axel, the omega snow leopard with a Dom streak to him, grew up on the streets and is a tough cookie… In this book the team gets to work on rescuing the kids on Axel’s former crew from the streets, and this all with all the Susi Hawke and Crista Crown good feelings!
John Solo's narration is the usual extra addition to a good story, and it’s so expressive that you can't help but love listening to it!
Another great add to the series. Patton and Axel are my new favorite (though I say that with each new book lol). Axel is amazing, strong and isn't going to take anyone's crap. He's so different then the others with matches Patton perfectly and love how their chemistry unfolds. With this plot comes some new kid side characters that warm your heart and you'll want to fight for them. More twist and turns, sexy and sweet. Action and a Universe plot that keeps getting deeper into Shifter problems. Can't wait for the next.
Patton is up next in the true mates lottery. Axel alerts the team to a modern day Fagin using homeless shifter children to steal for him. When Patton meets Axel to get more information, they both realize that they are fated mates, and the case is temporarily set aside for more urgent needs. Back on the job, Axel helps them to take down the bad guy and rescue the kids. Unlike the previous books in the series, this one doesn't end with a foreshadowing of the next story. Great series.
We have known Patton since the very first Alphabit book and now we get to really know him. Axel is the one that had contacted them at the end of the last book about the children being used and not taken care of. As Patton and Axel figure out their mating and lives, the children are rescued and life gets a little more complicated.
I absolutely love the writing in these books and find myself grinning and chuckling out loud at times. Can't wait for more!
This was another example of the perfection that is known as the Alphabits. Patton and Axel are completely different, but once everything taken care of, it's exactly how it should be. Lots of love and laughter surrounded by family and friends. Who would ever want anything more?!? It is certainly a must read book. I would definitely recommend this book, series, and terrific authors!
Wolves, snow leopards, monkeys, hedgehogs, and ocelots, oh my! Oh, and don't forget the random bear or fennec fox! I love the variety of shifter that we have in the Alphabit series. I mean, I love all the shifters in this world, but it's nice breaking out of the wolf mold.
I like how Patton grows up some in this one, except for well, the catnip. I think he and Axel are great together. And I love how protective Axel is over all the kids.
this offer is to be commended for how they portrayed an autistic boy. Be on the amazing romance and the never ending laughs, her portrayal of the character Spencer is out of this world. I'm a fan for life after this. all of the characters seem like real people that I could go out and meet somewhere and I would totally want to hang out with them if I did.
I really love all of susi hawkes books. I am glad that axel finally got the family he always needed. And Patton even though he was a dumbass at the beginning over come his stupidity. He also deserved the love that you can only get from family. Spoiler, I am so glad that they took in little Maddie too. She so needed the stability and love that family can bring.
It just keeps getting better and better! Loved Patten and Axel. Axel was perfect for Patten. Loved how the whole team came together for the kids!!! This book was so good..definitely going on my re-read list!!! Can't wait for Cyrus to get his turn at love!!!😍
This was my favorite book of this series so far. I loved axel and how he worked with the team to find the kids and save them from ira.i liked how flushed out this book was compared to others in the series. However I wish Patton could have seen axel dance at least once. Totally would have been worth it.
I can’t get enough of this series. The characters are wonderful and the plot that runs through the entire series is amazing. I love this HEA shifter series and highly recommended it. A must read
The next book of Alphabits and Patton meets his mate Axel when investigating a child thief ring. The book is as great as the others in the series, but I would start with Team ALPHA. Highly recommend.
Another phenomenal book in this series. Susi and Crista never disappoint. This is about Axel and Patton's mating. They have quite a few obstacles to overcome. In the end they find their happily ever after. I highly recommend reading this book and the entire series.
This was a decent read I really liked this couple and the other couples in this series I like how the two series intertwine looking forward to the next book in this series .
Patton like giving Ozzy a bad time about being mated and a Dad. But once he met Axel, poor Patton was toast. Meeting the former lost boy, Patton was a good marxh for Ghost. Good, fun story, great characters and wonderful ending.
Another great story. I have a soft spot for children in need of love, happiness and a forever home. The Alphabets definitely deliver in that sense. Plus you get the angst, fear, hope and finally the love and happy ever after.
It’s all about LOVE and love is what you need in life. Another great book in this collection. I can’t wait for the next one. Life is hard and unforgiving but if you have loved one in your life it’s not all bad.
