Loved every single second of this book. And if you are a massive Four Weddings and a funeral fan you will love the multitude of references to the film, as the four friends see just how many of them will get married in the same summer.
The weddings like the brides could not have been more different nor utterly perfect for each of them.
Although whether their other halves are ideal partners is for you to discover.
As the summer wedding season is upon us, this really is a fabulous summery book to set the mood.
I loved the friends, the dialogue, the writing style, and just hours I could picture it all so perfectly.
I would say it makes an excellent film, but that could be because that is at the base of the book but highly originally changed.
A super summer story from an author I've enjoyed in the past and hope to read again in the future too.

The perfect read for lovers of Four weddings and a Funeral, there are many references to provoke nostalgia! I loved following the four friends as they lookthough they will fulfil their prophecy of all marrying in the same year- but will it all go smoothly?
The characters are wonderful and they have such a heartwarming friendship. There are plenty of amusing moments and the extended familes are well drawn characters too.

I was 16 years old when "Four Weddings and a Funeral" came out, and I was instantly in love with the movie (and also developed a crush on Hugh Grant). Same goes for Bea, Lizzie, Kat and Hannah. And when 3 of the friends incidentally plan their wedding for the same summer, it seems to be a great idea to have their own kind of "Four Weddings...", of course hopefully without the funeral bit. They only need a suitable groom for Bea, who just broke off her relationship with Simon. So the friends set her up with different dates for each wedding - but they didn't count on cute wedding photographer Leo from California.
There are some other similarities with the Richard Curtis movie, but it's nevertheless a unique story with very likeable characters. It was fun to read about Bea's summer of festivities, dates and jewellery making, and encounter little references to "Four Weddings and a Funeral" throughout the book. It's been way too long since I last watched the movie!

This book!! I am in utter love with it, I knew the moment I set eyes on the title alone that I had to read this book, after all it is inspired and loosely based on one of my whole time favourite films; Four Weddings and a Funeral, and how much do I love that film! Who doesn’t cry at Gareth’s funeral during John Hannah’s recital of Stop the Clocks? or Who doesn’t laugh every time Rowan Atkinson presides over wedding number two? I think you have an idea of just how many time I have watched it and believe me there were moments while reading this book that just screamed that film, so you cannot imagine my utter excitement when I managed to wangle myself a place on this blog tour. Imagine a spinning top which has had too much candy and you get the gist 😉
So, I’ll stop waffling on about Four Weddings and Funeral and actually talk about this book, that’s what your all here for right? So, we have four lifelong friends; Bea, Kat, Lizzie and Hannah, who all have a love of a certain film, as teenagers they made each other a promise that they would all marry in the same summer to have their own ‘Four Weddings’ but hopeful not with the funeral. As the years go by, they still remain the closest of friends, which is quite remarkable on itself as how many of your teenage friends can you say you are still in contact with? And then the unexpected happens Lizzie, Hannah and Kat all become engaged and plan to wed in the same years, so obviously they all start to look at Bea so they can make their little teenage pact a reality- only problem with that is, Bea isn’t sure she want to get married, in fact she isn’t even sure that her Boyfriend; Simon is the man for her.
Just as with the film, love never comes easy, in fact even weddings never come easy as we soon find out as Lizzie, Kat and Hannah prepare to say I do.
Lizzie is besotted with Jack; her intended, they genuinely do love one another and that is so sweet that there is a genuine true love, only problem he is off on tour with his band right after the wedding – Bugger!
Hannah and Remy are an absolute delight, as different as they come but such a beautiful couple, the issue here is Hannah hasn’t told her grandparents that Remy is in fact a woman, well that’s going to be a interesting wedding day, for sure.
Kat is such a tom boy, she doesn’t want fuss and bother, she just wants to say I do, sign the paper and be done with it, but does her betrothed Henry feel the same, in fact does he feel anything?
Then there is our Bea, she is such a ‘Charles’ she becomes stuck in the middle of two men, every girls dream to have two drop-dead gorgeous men fighting over you, right? Well, not so much as their attentions just confuse her mind and her heart, her mind is telling her one thing but her heart is shouting another, but which will she follow? – Let me just say, that when she does decided who she wants to be with, when she finally declare her feelings for him it is such a Four Weddings and a Funeral scene, Richard Curtis couldn’t have written better 😉
Yes, this is a hugely fun, romantic and feel good book, that will have you laughing and crying in equal doses, but for me what really makes it stand out and keeps it head and shoulders above all other books in this genre is the beautiful friendship between the four women, it is so real and relatable, each woman has their own issues and hurdles in life and being true life long friends they stand by each other no matter what. I absolutely love the way that Annie Roberston has written it, you can real sense the connection between the woman, it gives off such a feeling of joy and hope, it’s down to earth, fun writing at it’s very best.
Oh, I do have to mention Aunt Jean, what a hoot!! Oh, she is wonderful, definitely the star of the show for me, she is the kind of aunt that we all want in the family; fun, hugely witty, caring and a little bit eclectic. Every book needs and Aunt Jean in it, she’s brilliant.
Over all, this is the perfect summer light-hearted read. Its heart-warming and witty, there is a real energy in the writing that I found very engaging from the start. I thoroughly enjoyed this, its a wonderful little story that will leaving you smiling….Now, I’m off to re-watch Four Weddings and a Funeral for the millionth time 🙂

This is the first book I've read by this author and I found it was a really pleasant, quick read, not laugh out loud funny, but pretty amusing all the same.
Four life long friends, with a penchant for rom-com's, Bea, Hannah, Kat and Lizzie, had always joked about getting married in one summer, could this be the year - their own Four Weddings.
Well as it happens, probably not, as Bea has just turned down her boyfriend 's proposal.
With both Wedding and Festival season, officially underway, will any of the four friends find their happily ever after ?
Full of great characters, - my particular favourite was Aunt Jane - I couldn't help but think, I would love a sequel to this book, a catch up to see how everyone is doing, and if those who got together, stayed together.
I will definitely be reading more by this author in future.

Okay, so you’ll get the immediate impression that this book is inspired by the Richard Curtis movie and you wouldn’t be wrong. The author is obviously a fan and there are a number of references to his films throughout, so if you enjoyed those films you’ll enjoy this.
This was s fun read, following the weddings across one summer as three of them get married and Bea, having turned down the proposal of her perfect-on-paper boyfriend, tries to decide what she is going to do with the rest of her life, now all of her friends are settling down.
The details surrounding the four weddings are fun to read about, especially the unexpected one, and my favourite part was the description of the festival they all attend. Festivals in books have been a bit of a thing for me this week, after the Dave Holwill one.) I completely sympathised with Bea’s predicament, not wanting to settle and also not wanting to be left behind and alone. Life is tricky to navigate when you are in your twenties, I sometimes think people should be banned from marrying until they hit 30!
The thing that made this book for me was the character of Aunt Jane, she is a total legend and a role model for women of a certain age. I fully intend modelling myself in my seventies on a cross between her and Zillah from This Could Change Everything by Jill Mansell.
All in all, an enjoyable romcom for fans of Richard Curtis-esque movies and novels about female friendship. and finding The One.

I think I watched Four Weddings and a Funeral once in the 90's and I don't remember a thing. Which means I missed most of the references in this book. It was a fast, okay read. Not that interesting characters, the romance seemed to just magically happen and the four girls are terrible friends to one another. The aunt was fun, though.

I suppose I should have known from the title and blurb that the plot would draw inspiration from major rom-coms, but I would have hoped it had been a sprinkling here and there as opposed to these essentially being used as the golden thread throughout. I wish the characters had been developed a bit more as it all felt a little surface-level to me, but a lovely bit of light reading.

Almost didn’t finish this one… Almost no character development, and I really didn’t even like any of them. They really weren’t very good friends to one another but I kept hoping it was going to get better so I did finish it. If you just want a very light be treated this is itif you’re looking for something in depth about female friendship this is a big no.

What a wonderful read!
The main part of the story that I adored was the friendship. These women have been friends for years and have laughed and cried together and I really enjoyed reading about them all and reading about their lives and now it is summer and things are about to change. They all joked about getting married in the same summer and that might actually happen but, there are some unexpected twists and turns along the way and a festival!
In this story we follow Bea, who has called of her engagement, Lizzie, the first to get married, Hannah, who hasn't told her family that the person she is marrying is a woman and Kat who just wants a normal wedding without all the frills. But, at a festival things are going to change and there will be some unexpected events.
Will the girls have their summer of weddings?
I really enjoyed this book. If you love Four Weddings and a Funeral, Bridget Jones etc this is the perfect book for you. They are some of my favourite movies and I was really excited to get stuck into this book and I was not disappointed. If you immediately misread this title as Four Weddings and a Funeral then you are going to enjoy the book immensely. In fact if you are a Richard Curtis fan and have enjoyed Four Weddings, Notting Hill and Bridget Jones then this is definitely the book for you. It is littered with references which whilst I got some only a true fan would have got them all.
Friends; Bea, Kat, Lizzie and Hannah joked for many years about all getting married in the same summer and when one engagement leads to another, it looks like this might well be the case.
However, Bea starts to have doubts. She turns down her engagement because she does not think that Simon is the man for her. She thinks she might have found that makes her go weak at the knees when he takes her photo at the first wedding of the season, but it seems he has a promise to fulfil.
Lizzie the first to get married, in the fields with a very countryside themed wedding is marrying the man she is clearly in love with, doting and besotted with. Except that he is about to go back on tour and that will mean leaving her behind.
Hannah is beyond excited about being a wife but has failed to point out to her grandparents who are paying for the wedding, that Remy her partner is in fact female. They might notice at some point all her friends keep telling her.
Kat is practical and certainly doesn't want any of the fuss and trimmings of other weddings. But does that mean she is not committed? And is Henry feeling the same?
But when events at a festival take life on a different turn and a wedding you never saw coming happens then will these four women find their happy ever after just like in the Richard Curtis film.
This is a lighthearted book very much in line with the films that it liberally refers to throughout, great as a beach read but not if you want something with a bit more depth which I generally do.

But to truly enjoy this story of six women and four men finding The One you really want to see the iconic movie first, at least once!

If you have seen the film, Four Weddings and a Funeral, you will certainly enjoy all the references within this book to the film and to others by Richard Curtis. Like an in -joke running throughout, this romcom pays homage to several of his romcom films and I found it to be a thoroughly enjoyable read. The friendship group between the girls is endearing and the loyalty between them is a constant.
This is a light, easy read, fizzing with life. The girls all have contrasting approaches to their weddings and there are plenty of humorous moments. My favourite character has to be Aunt Jean whose wit and humour light up the pages. I was definitely rooting for her all through. Bea's search for what she really wants in life kept me going to the end.
In short: Yes actually, this is a great summer read.

Great lighthearted romantic comedy - perfect for a holiday read.
Bea, Lizzie, Hannah and Kat have been best friends since childhood. At the age of 13, they made a pact that they would all get married the same summer. They all have steady partners, so can their childhood pact come true? Seems unlikely when Bea breaks up with her long-term partner Simon (much to the relief of her lovely Aunt Jane). Bea decides to concentrate on herself and what she wants. But what is that?
A great, funny easy read recommended for all fans of Richard Curtis films due to the many references made to his films in this book.

I was drawn to this book by the front cover, and was rather intrigued by the name as I expected it to be quite cringey but I was wrong and I'll happily admit I was wrong to judge. I loved reading this and following the girls journey. It was super funny, very enjoyable and unput-downable. Aunt Jane has to be my favorite character, she sounds like such fun and such an amazing, flamboyant character that everyone falls in live with. I highly recommend you read this little gem. I can't thank NetGalley enough for giving me the chance to review it. I would love it if there was a book to follow so that I can see what happens next with the gang.
