Charles Ingrid's prophetic two-book series tells the story of an Earth divided by genetics. Some are determined to return the human race to its original form. But others believe the world belongs to those who have been genetically engineered.
In the far future from now, Earth is desolated by nuclear warfare, and the only survivors from the human race are mutants, adapted to survive this Earth. Men with gills, lizardmen, giant rats... and some of the "humans" have special abilities. It's the case of the "hero" in the book. He is the executioner of his "civilization", and he was marked by something that let him live in the past...
The First book went by fine, it's just that the second book started to feel like an absolute chore. All the "threats" of this dystopia are washed and feel lifeless. Oh, no wolfrats! Oh no, the Dean! Oh no, the wanderers! The enemies may have felt "threatening" in the first few pages but seemingly just became a tiresome chore and place-holder. The story just feels very forced and doesn't leave one feeling satisfied. This book is very boring and slow, the action is not fun, the plot is weak, and does not feel to deliver. It feels like the Mandalorian but without the memorable characters and enemies. It's like playing a video game in baby mode. Would not recommend it.
