Love this book. Makes me stop and really consider who I want to be and what I want my life to be. It is not an easy book.

This book is good in the first couple of chapters. It repeats the same process for each category. Once you get the concept the rest of the book is some what of a waste.

First of all, I was disappointed to find out that this book was not written/designed by anyone with any type of medical psych background. The author is a literary agent that seems to write about whatever is selling at the moment (How to get published, best place to kiss in NY, guide to wine, how to declutter, etc.) I went through a couple of chapters and while I found the questions thought provoking, there is NO guidance at all as to how to get ahead when the barriers are all things that the individual answering the questions, or making the lists, have no control over whatsoever.

Second of all, the questions in each section were repetitious. The main set of questions for the chapter were nearly identical to the ones directed to the spouse relationship and the ones for a boyfriend/girlfriend/lover relationship AND to the ones for a friend AND to the ones for a person you HAVE to deal with. All of that could easily have been combined. It felt like the author was simply stretching the questions out to get to a certain page length.

Overall, writing your own life plan is a great idea, but hints on overcoming obstacles would be helpful too. If anything, when I was done answering the relationship and spouse questions and making the related lists I was convinced that I needed to get a divorce rather than bother to work on our issues. Gee, thanks for the help; our couples therapist will be thrilled, not.
