5☆ Highly Entertaining, Fun, Laugh out Loud, Uplifting Rom Com! A little Piece of Escapism!

Just Another Silly Love Song is a laugh out loud, witty Rom Com full of flirty banter, and a love/hate relationship!

Lori is a really good DJ for the love spot on the night time radio station.
Well she was until her boyfriend Zachary gets her the sack.... when he decided to publicly humiliate her, by dumping her live on air!

Ben is also a DJ on a rival station running the morning love spot, but he is more of an Agony Uncle giving advice on love. Although he's not particularly good at it and is known as Dr Tough Love lol

When Lori gets asked to work on Ben's station she never imagined it would be working alongside her rival!
The two just don't get on.... or do they?
Sparks are guaranteed to fly...in more ways than one 😉😏 as the two are forced to work together, combining both their shows!

Lori and Ben are the Perfect Couple, I adored their angst and sarcasm it was so funny and clear for the reader to see what was going on! Even if they refused to accept it! The will they, won't they, flirty banter had me giggling out loud!

Just Another Silly Love Song is a highly entertaining, fun, uplifting read, and a little piece of escapism!
The Agony Romance problems were spot on! Just reminded me of when I used to read all the agony pages as a teen.

Rich has a way of creating wonderful characters, witty narrative, his writing style is always engaging, warm and entertaining.

Rich Amooi is one of my favourite Authors, this is another gem of his that will have you giggling and smiling, and will leave you feeling warm and fuzzy inside

So if you are wanting a fun, uplifting read, with plenty of sarcasm, witty banter, and a good dose of chemistry then I highly recommend you picking up a copy of Just Another Silly Love Song!

Why did I never consider reading this author before? Hmm, I know. . . I was being an idiot. Sigh! Well, I am on the path of redemption now by adding this book to my favourite rom-com shelf. Rich Amooi, you have got yourself a new fangirl.
What I love most about rom-com is the witty banter and in that sense, reading this novel was hitting the jackpot. Set in a radio station with my favourite enemies to lovers trope, there is not a single page without sassy dialogues. It was like eating ice cream all day long (without the side effects, of course).
I loved Ben and Lori from the very beginning and the chemistry is off the charts. And all the relationship advice the duo churns out is really the best part. Then there is grandma Joyce who is not at all affected by the generation gap. She really puts old age to shame.
So if you are in the mood for a funny little romance to lighten up your days, then don't think twice. This will give you some incredible reading hours!

SIMPLY DELIGHTFUL AND PERFECT.

The book and its brilliant author Rich Amooi were the best antidote to the stresses of the mind. The world created by his characters encapsulated me completely, where the volley of their words sparkled with fun and enthusiasm. Something that I needed so much.

Lori lost her job due to a breakup on air, and Ben didn’t have many female followers on his show. Ben’s producers got the two of them together, and sparks flew. There was chemistry and sarcasm and all the different spices between them that would go on to make a successful morning show on the radio.

The author was a genius. I rarely ever like a man writing from a woman’s POV, that too a romance/chick lit; most of them never got it right. But this man, oh this brilliant author knew how to get the characters etched perfectly, right down to the last detail. Pitch perfect, I would say.

The story might seem familiar but who cared, the delivery of it made my heart sing. The characters might feel known but who cared, they made me laugh in most of the book. The attraction was seen before, but who cared, I wanted the same spark in my life.

The dialogues between the main characters Lori and Ben were perfect. There was a zing in them. The sparks of electricity that coursed through the words wrapped me to my kindle like a bright arc, never letting me go.

The book was simply perfect. I didn’t have different words to describe it when my brain cells were singed. It made me happy. I danced the wicked moves with joy at having that one book which could make my brain stop thinking about world crisis.

Even after finishing the book, I didn’t want to let go. To tell you the truth, I only want to read the books by this author. I am so glad that he has written so many as I think his books are the perfect stress buster to the warped thoughts in my mind.

I have to reiterate, the author is a genius!! No two ways about it. There, I have said it. A brilliant invigorating read.

Lori and Ben are two radio DJs, they both have a famous and popular show. The first presents the Night Show giving romantic tips and love songs dedications, the latter hosts the Morning Show giving straight to the point, sometimes even harsh, relationship advices.

Lori accepts a new job soon after she got dumped on air by her boyfriend and fired in the same aweful night, but she is not too excited when she finds out she will co-host the morning show with her nemesis, Ben.

They are complete opposites but the clash of their personalities and their constant bantering make their show ratings fly and their attraction for each other sparks.
Will they keep their good rates even if they begin to like each other? Or will their physical chemestry and friendship ruin their careers?

This is only the second story I read by Rich Amooi but his writing style and well depicted characters won me over already.

I highly recommend to read Just Another Silly Love Song because it’s an entertaining and lovely story that will put you in a good mood after only few pages, making you smile and swoon at the characters actions.

If you're looking for a book to put a smile on your face and have you giggling throughout reading it, look no further - grab yourself a copy of this hilarious book! This is a lovely, highly entertaining romantic comedy that starts with two folks wanting the same car parking space and ends up with two proposals!!

Lori Martin is a radio DJ, working the night shift and sharing love songs and dedications until her boyfriend breaks up with her on air and ends up getting her sacked.....

Dr Ben Baxter is known as Dr Tough Love on his morning time radio slot where he holds nothing back as he lives up to his billing, dishing out tough love relationship advice.....

What happens when these two opposites end up being forced to work together giving relationship advice on the morning show? Will they be able to actually work together without falling out? Will their on-air sizzling chemistry lead to off air romance? How will their matchmaking antics rebound on them?

Get ready for ballroom dancing, hilarious on air callers, sensational social media footage, gorgeous grandparents, pancakes and bacon, misunderstandings and, most of all fun and romance in this brilliant read - what a superb book to escape into, I can't recommend it highly enough!

I requested and was gifted a copy of this book and this is my honest review after laughing my way through it!

You are reading it here first! This officially is my new favourite Rich Amooi book! Five Minutes Late will also be very special to me and being the super fan I am and having read all of his books now it was not an easy decision to make. Ok who am I kidding, it was way easy. From the get-go I was hooked on Ben and Lori, I loved them from the start, I smiled, I laughed and I loved with them.

Lori is a DJ, working the evening love zone shift, my personal favourite on a Saturday night when I was growing up. Her boyfriend Zachary calls her live on-air and dumps her- douche! She also gets fired I mean what the hell!

Dr Tough Love, aka Ben, a DJ for another station, does the morning love shift, has been told things have got to change for success to be made.

Side entrance- Lori walks in!

These two are chalk and cheese. The fact they don’t agree on anything draws the listeners (and readers) in. The banter on air is classic, Lori is soft and fluffy and well Ben didn’t get his name by chance. They bounce off each and it has me giggling!

Grandma Joyce and Grandpa Wayne are a complete hoot! They were so much fun to read about, especially with the blackmailing they do, scandalous!

I always hate how quickly I finish Rich’s book and as much as I want to slow it down I can’t, I still find I have read them so quickly and my light has gone. This book has brought a lot of joy to me over here, pure escapism, witty banter and most of all so much fun. Amooi’s writing is magic, he gets women just as much as he gets men. The actions are realistic, they are not damsel women who need rescuing, they need their eyes opening that’s all. His women have spunk and know what they want unless it’s the hot man in front of them, then they go a bit ga ga…so yeah just like a “typical” woman, and I have no qualms with that stereotype!

I will always read a book by Rich, without fail or reading the blurb, or seeing the cover. Just knowing it’s his name on the book, I know it will be pure magic and fun!

I really needed something that would make me smile right now and just another silly love song did just that! Genuinely people kept asking me what I was grinning at while I was reading it.

Lori is a late night radio show host who plays love songs and dedications, dishing out positivity but she finds herself in quite a pickle after she’s not only dumped on air but loses her job in the same night!

In desperate need of a job, she takes the only one available opposite the no-nonsense and brash Ben Baxter aka Dr. Tough Love. Lori thinks it’s never going to work out, they’re complete opposites but sparks begin to fly and it turns into something neither of them expected.

This book just gave me all the awws, with lovable characters, cute moments and that all important sweet ending.

I also loved Grandma Joyce, Lori’s sassy eighty year old grandmother who sounds like she’d be fun to hang out with.

Just another silly love song is a pure joy to read and I’m a little sad now I’ve finished it. I can’t wait to see what Rich Amooi comes up with next!

This was a cute clean rom com, and I loved it! It has been a while since I have read just a romance book where the dirtiest thing they have done is kiss....but that didn't take away from the book, this was mainly focused on their relationship and I really enjoyed this.

Lori and Ben's banter was great at the beginning I loved their back and forth and then when they started to develop feelings, it didn't change their banter which I loved.

I also really loved the radio station part of it and I haven't read any romances with a radio station as the place of work so that was a nice change of pace.

I would recommend this if you are looking for a cute PG romcom. I will want to read more by Rich Amooi later on when I am feeling a light innocent romcom.

I couldn't stop smiling, smirking and giggling the whole way through this book.

If you are already a Rich Amooi fan, what are you doing here, this is him at his best, just buy and read it already.

On the other hand if you have never read the author before, well here are some more thoughts....

The chemistry and banter between Ben and Lori is off the charts for two people who are doing their best to hate and antagonise each other.

The dialogue is fabulous and what catapults this book into the ideal way to forget your troubles for a bit and just lose yourself in Lori and Ben's story.

Written from both Male and Female perspectives it is scary how believable both characters come across. It is making me think Rich Amooi may now be my top male rom-com author amidst some stiff competition.

If you want to spend an incredibly amusing few hours with a couple who are bound to make you smile, some utterly ridiculous relationship problems for their call in show, some feisty octogenarians and a whole lot more besides, then this is definitely worth a read.

Thank you to Rich Amooi for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

I can't believe that I had never heard of Rich Amooi until this past November. I absolutely love the books I have read of his and this one was amazing. He is definitely the king of rom-com.

Lori Martin is a wonderful DJ, in fact her show is #1 in the night time slot. She has a love song, dedication show where women call in with problems, concerns or questions about love, then after Lori helps them out, she dedicates a love song to them. All is going well until boyfriend Zachary dumps her on the air, totally humiliating her. And when he also trashes their number one advertiser, also on the air, she gets fired. Unfortunately for her, there are not many, or any, radio jobs in San Francisco, so when Lori is offered a job to co-host with Doctor Tough Love on a rival station, she has no choice but to take it. Ben Baxter, Doctor Tough Love, is not any happier with the situation than Lori is. Their on air spats and chemistry are a hoot, but when it spills over into their real lives, they sizzle.

This is a fun, laugh out loud, entertaining Rom Com! I loved this story. The characters, Lori and Ben along with Grandma Joyce and Grandpa Wayne were wonderful. They were fun, witty and lovable. They cared so much for each other and even though they were sassy, sarcastic and butted into each other's business, they did it out of love. The writing was wonderful. I loved the wonderful dialogue, both the on-air banter and the real conversations. As they changed from rivals forced to work together into friends and beyond, I fell in love with these characters and their lives. I definitely recommend this book and all others by Rich Amooi. The publisher generously provided me with a copy of this book upon request. The rating, ideas and opinions shared are my own.

Once again I adored a book by Rich Amooi. At my age, in my 40s, it is really hard to find books about women who have never been married or men who have never been married. So a book like this is just perfect for me, especially when it doesn’t necessarily make a big deal out of the age thing. Because for me, this is my life, and I like to read about people who I feel are similar to me, and with romance books, I want someone with a similar romantic life to me sometimes. Quite often that means I’m reading books about couples in their twenties. Not that I don’t adore those books, but it is nice to see life and romance from what my world is like.

Besides my personal connections, the characters were perfect. Even though both of the main characters refused to see it at first, they had perfect chemistry, like everyone around them said. I loved the back and forth banter between them, the sarcasm, the arguing, all of it. Another thing about the characters was that I loved how we had a grandma for Lori that totally reminded me of the grandmas in books by another favorite author of mine, Emma Hart. Although since Amooi’s romances are more on the sweet side, this grandma was quite as raunchy, yet still as active and spicy!

Seeing the world of radio was neat as well. I am not a current listener to the radio since I tend to either listen to my music on my phone or audiobooks when I’m driving, and at home the tv is on if I’m not reading. (And usually it’s on in the background even when I am reading). But I remember when I did listen to the radio on the way to work every morning, and I loved the morning shows with the fun DJ hosts that would go back and forth. And I definitely liked when there was both male and female voices on the show.

If you like sweet, funny reads, this is the book for you!

Another delightful rom-com from Rich Amooi, Just Another Silly Love Song is based on one of the most fun of tropes - Enemies to Lovers. While Lori and Ben both have similar roles in the world of radio - on-air presenters who dish out relationship advice - they have very different philosophies and approaches. Losing her job when her boyfriend dumps her on air and insults a major advertiser in the process, Lori doesn’t have too many options when she’s offered a job as Ben’s co-host on his Tough Love show. And falling ratings mean Ben hasn’t a lot of choice either when his bosses tell him his show needs a woman’s touch to appeal to the female demographic.

Sparks fly between Lori and Ben from the first moment and it’s utterly fantastic, hilarious, and absolutely believable. Chapters are told in alternating first-person PoV, something I’m not always keen on, but Rich Amooi absolutely pulls it off. We get to see the inner thoughts of both Lori and Ben as they go from hating each other through reluctant admiration, acknowledgement of attraction, and finally helplessly falling for each other, aided and abetted by Grandma Joyce, Grandpa Wayne and a hilarious side cast of characters who’ve all seen from the first moment that Ben and Lori have amazing chemistry and would love to see them get together.

This is effervescent fun, and I didn’t want it to end. Rich Amooi is one of my favourite rom-com authors and he’s pulled it off again here; you’ll be charmed by Ben and Lori and their meddling grandparents! Five stars for a fantastic read.

If you are feeling down, the world is getting a bit too much, you want to escape from real-life for 2-3 hours and you are looking for a feel-good, pick-me-up read then look no further than Rich Amooi. His book is the perfect remedy for putting a smile on your face and have you giggling. Just Another Silly Love Song is his latest book and it had me chuckling so many times.

This is about two rival radio talk show hosts. Lori hosts a late-night show and gives sensible advice to women about their relationships, all is ok until her boyfriend breaks up with her live on her show. This results in her being fired.

The only job on offer is for a rival radio show, with Dr Tough Love, aka Ben, I know, I know this sounds so cheesy, but this is where the author absolutely excels. Ben hosts a similar show, but his advice is tough because, well let's face it, men need telling straight about what they need to do!

So two different opinions on a radio show provides some hilarious reading. Now, I have to say, that as I was reading this I had a certain Mr Gerard Butler in my head from the film The Ugly Truth, and let's be honest here, having him floating around in my thoughts is not a bad thing at all!!!! My point here is that Ben and Gerard, well the character he played, shared some very interesting qualities, one of them being that there is more to the characters than first meets the eye.

Lori working with Ben is finding this out for herself, and there are others that also see more. Grandma Joyce is an absolute hoot, a sassy 80-year-old with a real zest for life, she is not backwards in coming forwards with advice, and advice is what she gives Lori whenever possible.

This book is pure escapism, in fact, I think I used the same phrase for a review of the last book I read by Rich! It is, however, true, the book is funny, cheesy, well laid out and is addictive. The perfect book to lift your spirits and leave you with a daft grin on your face. Just another Silly Love Song is so heartwarming and I would absolutely recommend it.

I really, really enjoyed this book!!

I have to say that I love books by this author and always jump at the chance of getting my hands on his latest releases – and this one was just as good as I hoped!!

I thought that the story was well developed, it was set at the perfect pace for the story and I loved his writing style, the book had a real genuine feel to it and it had me giggling and laughing out loud so it was the perfect read for me whilst we are shut away in lockdown! The characters were well developed too and worked well so well with the plot, I flew through the pages but also didn’t want the story to end!

It is 5 stars from me for this one, another great story from this author and I am already very much looking forward to his next release!! Very highly recommended!!

This story is just what I needed and wanted in today's crazy world. It held my attention totally and made me feel happy, so what more could I ask for?
There are so many really witty and zany moments that one can't help but keep on reading till the end, and what a beautiful ending it was!
The title may say "Just Another Silly Love Song" but the story is a definite "Number One Hit"!
Can you tell that I loved it?

Very Cute and Clean Comedic Romance
This book made me smile from beginning to end. While the ending is never in question, the journey to get there was a hoot. This is a fun, witty and feel-good story with exactly the ending you would expect. I received this ARC book for free from Booksprouts and this is my honest review.

Oh, my! TEN STARS, please! This could be called "just another silly love novel", but it was more like hilarious! The dialogue was way beyond entertaining, and I lost it when he introduced Bob Barker! And this was after Winnie the Poodle and two friends, whose great names I wish I could remember. Do not pass up reading this book. And, please, write a little faster, Rich Amooi!

This was great fun and exactly what I needed as my reading has slowed down and my concentration is all over the place again.

I do enjoy contemporary fiction and I love a bit of romantic fiction too, but I must confess that I’m not keen on animated book covers. If I hadn’t read rave reviews for this book recently there is no way I would’ve requested this for review purposes. I know I’m a cover snob but I can’t help it! 😂

Anyway as I mentioned above this was the right book at the right time for me and was actually a fab listen. It was very predictable, but that was okay as there were a few surprises in there and some very funny moments that made me smile and guffaw!

The narration by Stephanie Rose and Tim Paige was perfect. They brought Lori and Ben (aka Doctor Tough Love, what a name!) to life wonderfully.

I highly recommend this on audio if you’re looking for something lighter and fun to listen to.

Thanks so much to Hope Roy at Tantor Audio for my digital copy.

I'm not sure I stopped smiling during this entire book. In fact, I'm still smiling just thinking about it. That's the magic of Rich Amooi's writing. His characters, typically with some adult life experience (Lori and Ben are both 40), speak to me. His impeccable banter and comedic timing entertain me. Add in a satisfying depth of emotion, vibrant secondary characters (I adore Grandpa Wayne and Grandma Joyce!), realistic situations, and a hero and heroine who I can not only root for but want to be friends with, and we have another enjoyable story I want to read again and again.

You all know that I'm a big fan of Rich Amooi's romantic comedies. And I'm not alone. Right now Rich is in the process of possibly having his last novel, It's Not PMS, It's You, being considered for a movie! How cool is that? But I digress. His latest is Just Another Silly Love Song. I absolutely believe that this is his best one. Here's the blurb:

Two rival radio personalities. Lori Martin is a positive and upbeat DJ, known for playing love songs and dedications. Ben Baxter dishes out no-nonsense , in-your-face relationship advice. Total opposites. Never in a million years would they want to work together.
Fired for losing her cool after her boyfriend breaks up with her on the air, Lori surprisingly receives a job offer for the coveted morning show at the radio station across town where Ben works. She thinks she's replacing him, but finds out they want to team up Lori with her archenemy to set the air waves on fire and boost ratings. Financially strapped, she can't turn down the job.
While their on-air fireworks and explosive chemistry make for great listening, what in the world will happen after work hours?

People, this is a romance. Let's not forget that. It is quite possible that there will be a romantic connection somewhere along the line. Just accept it. But the way Rich gets us to that point in the story is masterful.

There are really a lot of things I liked about this book. Let me name some, shall I?

1. He grabbed me on page 1 and never let up.
2. Loved Lori's grandmother and Ben's grandfather.
3. Definitely got emotionally involved with the main characters and even some of the supporting cast.
4. There is one scene where my jaw dropped so fast and hard that it still hurts.
5. There were definitely humorous moments; ergo, Romantic Comedy.
6. But this one has less humor than his others, IMHO, and I think that ramped up the romance.
7. Rich can flat-out write. To wit: "It was as if someone has smacked me in the face with Kryptonite or tried to force-feed me a five pound bag of granulated sugar, one tablespoon at a time."

There were a couple of times when I was able to personally relate to what was happening in the book. There is one spot when Ben asks Lori not to play any Celine Dion songs. One hour after I read this (I swear this is true), I turned on my radio, and there was Celine Dion. And in another passage, Air Supply is mentioned. I won't bore you with the details now. But if you ever want to hear a great story about my personal connection to those guys, let me know.

That does it book fans. Read Just Another Silly Love Song. Who knows? Maybe it will make those of you who tend to focus on mystery/suspense/thrillers/historical fiction/etc. willing to pick up a romance on occasion. You might even thank me. Stranger things have happened!

Alright guys and gals, this one is definitely for the both of you and it will keep you flicking pages long into the night.

I could see a lot of this one coming a mile away, but you know what? It didn't make a bit of difference. It got me...right here...and all the feels, all the laughs, all the oh-my-word-you-did-not-just-say-that moments, and the final BANG, were truly worth tuning in for. On one line, you have Lori Martin, former nighttime radio show goddess otherwise known as THE person to help solve your love questions with tact and a choice play from her digital library. She is so sweet, treated SO badly by the former boyfriend now ex, and has a fabulous grandma to boot! You couldn't wait to see things turn around for her and you equally felt your heart break when things looked as though they were all over. On our other line, you have Ben Baxter aka Doctor Tough Love who's equally popular morning show is just what it sounds like...doling out tough love advice to equally tough headed guys in need of a wake up call. Thing is...his advice may have seemed harsh and out there, but it was really just a to-the-point way of saying the same things as some other more gentler hostesses might be saying...if you catch my drift. Watching these two spar it out verbally, only to find they may not be as opposite as they at first thought, will totally make your day.

Total recommendation for Romantic Comedy and Contemporary Romance fans alike.

I honestly have no idea where to start when it comes to this book. So going to start at literally the front cover, why because I love the cover on this book. It's gives you an animated feel which goes hand in had with the comedy that this book brings. As you read this book you get drawn in to not only the story but also the funny side. This book starts you off in Ben's point of view and had me laughing from Chapter 1.
The book focuses on Ben and Lori, who have chemistry from the first time they meet. I mean the relationship these two characters have is so amazing it will keep you reading not just for the comedy but anticipating their next interaction. Although Ben and Lori are the main focus in this book, you do have a bit of a background relationship going on which is equally as interesting.
This is definitely the type of book that once you get into the story you don't want to put it down! Whether you are staying for the comedy or the interactions this book will not let you down! This book really is Romantic Comedy at it's best, to the point that I think it would be a smash if it was a movie.
Between the great characters and their interactions this book will leave you wanting more. More of Ben and Lori and definitely more from the author. I dare say you may want to clear a block of time as you can easily start and finish this book in one sitting. Trust me the book will make you want to read it in one sitting.

I’ve been on a little chick-lit trip lately and Just Another Silly Love Song was supposed to be a fun read, but I just couldn’t get into this story.

Lori and Ben are both radio show hosts, who are now forced to work as co-hosts together. They can’t stand each other and are supposed to have this cute banter thing going on, but I didn’t care for their relationship. The conversation seemed forced and I was so bored by the story. I had no desire to keep reading and finally called it quits at 37%.

I loved this book. Rich is such a good writer and I was so happy to be in his world and out of mine for a while. His characters are so real and well rounded. They made me laugh and even tear up. Plus, this book had some of the best dog names ever!

WOW. AWESOME. FUNNY.
From first page to the last, this book is amazing. Story is sweet and funny.
Lori and Ben are wonderful.
Then, we have, Lori's grandmother and Ben's grandfather.
This book is something to read now: it kept me laughing so much.
Thank you Mr. Amooi for this wonderful story.

Oh that was AWESOME!

This is definitely my favourite Rich Amooi novel that I have read so far. Seeing as I plan to read all his books I'm not sure how long this will remain in the number one slot. This story has set an extremely high benchmark.

It's official—I love Rich Amooi writing. This is the second book I read by this author and I’m going to read them all! I’m still surprised that a man can write such funny romance books.

Just Another Silly Love Song has laugh out loud banter, lovable characters, and a really fun premise. It’s such a fun romantic story of enemies to lovers.

This book was a treat to read and definitely put a smile on my face and it won't be long before I look out for some more of Amooi’s work.

A book that defines the statement Opposites attract

The similarity between the main characters is that they are both DJs and give advice to their listeners, but each has his/her own style. So what happens when both of them are put together in 1 radio show? A radio show that is full of banter which is so fun. Their banter sounds natural, not forced. This book is meant for an audiobook. If you have read this one already then I recommend listening to it in audiobook format. The narrators did really well.

I have been a fan of this author for a while. This ranks right up there with his best work. The author has a knack for witty banter between characters, and for snappy pacing. Not a dull moment in the book. Just read it - you'll thank me later ;)
