One Night #5

One Night with her Roommate

Rate this book
Ever since her former roommates deserted her, Meg has had to share an apartment with a lazy, obnoxious ass. He won’t pick up after himself, and he refuses to get a good job. Plus, he doesn’t always wear enough clothes—which is really a problem, because he’s hot.

Maybe he’s occasionally funny. And every now and then he can be sweet. But mostly he’s just annoying. It doesn’t matter how much he’s starting to flirt with her—Meg is going to resist. She’s way too smart to fall for a guy who never takes anything seriously.

But then everything changes in only one night...

East drives Meg crazy with his sloppy ways, and lackluster attitude towards life. And each time his girlfriend is mentioned his reaction was one that had me questioning what he was hiding. I loved that East was easy to smile, quick to tease and tended to not wrap a towel around himself when he came out of the shower.

description

I also loved that there was an intensity that ran through East and even as Meg considered herself the responsible roommate, I felt she wasn’t giving him a chance or opening herself up to who he truly was. When something happens that switches the dynamic of their relationship, she allows herself to reach out to him.

This couple doesn’t have any outside drama, although there is a bit of family drama that helps the plot. The chemistry between Meg and East sizzles and I’m pretty sure East has become one of my favorite Noelle Adams heroes.

Highly recommend this quick read if for no other reason than to check out East.

22/12 - I don't know if it's the passage of time between my reading of Adams' other One Night novellas (it has been three years) or if this one was simply not as good, but I just didn't enjoy this the way I did the first three books in the series. Meg's blind insistence on the existence of East's mysterious girlfriend became very irritating very quickly. She had East, his troubled sister and numerous other friends telling her that there had been no girlfriend in some months, but she refused to listen. Having her use that tired, old excuse for why she and East couldn't get together over and over again was so frustrating and unnecessary. I felt no chemistry between East and Meg and all their interactions just seemed forced. Also the featured book finished at 87%, then we had an excerpt from One Night with the Best Man till 95%, then a bibliography of Adams' books till the end. If I come across Boss or Best Man for a decent price I will read them without the rose-coloured glasses. I think I also might have another look at the three I've already read, see whether things look different now.

This is the 5th instalment in the One Night Novella series and it tells Meg's story. The reader is first introduced to her in the 4th instalment as Anne's friend and roommate.

This story follows the same formula as the other books in this series but I have to give this one a slight edge over the one before it. I think it was the characters themselves that I enjoyed getting to know a little better. The banter between Meg and East was entertaining to read and you could feel the chemistry between the two of them

As is the case with most novellas, the story moves fast and the relationship develops even faster. It is pure entertainment with some pretty hot and steamy sections which is the reason that I decided to read this series in the first place.

So cute! For such a quick, easy read it had some great tension, and the anticipation, guh! My chest was so tight and there was a tingle in my belly as things between Meg and East started to move out of the friendship zone. I love that feeling!

Meg is stuck sharing a place with East, a man who annoys the crap out of her. Sure he can be funny, sweet and considerate at times, but he still annoys her. Well maybe not so much, as time goes on she feel a pull to him, an attraction and she soon finds out so does he. Will this attraction last forever? Or just for one night?

Cute story. The characters in this novella were very well written.

I love their chemistry. This was a short little novella, but the main characters chemistry came in clear and believable. A great quick read.

This is a sweet, well written novella. The characters were well drawn in the short amount of time given and the romance was great.

On my second read, I noticed a few things that annoyed me more this time.

This is one of Noelle Adam's earlier books, and she has really improved in her writing and plot. This book is good, it's romantic, the MCs are great. But those little niggles bother me.

I received an ARC from the author. This is a short story about Meg and her roommate East. They've been roommates for about half a year and their personalities are completely opposite. Meg is career driven, motivated, and enjoys a clean environment where she lives. East is dirty, lazy, lacks motivation, and does not have a job. Living together works for them, even though they secretly like each other on another level. What happens when these two finally admit their feelings? I thought this was a cute, short, friends to lovers story. Don't expect a lot of dialogue or deepness to the story, as this is only around 70 pages long. It was just enough for me to be satisfied with Meg and East's happily ever after.

i got the book for an honest review so here is goes...LOVE LOVE this author (she goes by Claire Kent too) she just have different approach about topics no matter how simple or everyday they look. The way she unravels the books always leaves me speechless and i m so wrapped in them i m left in the end begging for more, and i ll will on her personal email. i have never ever been huge fan of authors , i just wait for their next book release whatever come out, but with Noelle Adams / Claire Kent i feel like a stalker always checking what new. If you are reading this and thinking if you should try this book or not i ll tell you this: you ll regret if you dont and i ll warn you her books are addictive (i m admitting my addiction at least:))))

Another nice, quick read from Adams (which is exactly what I need these days). East is adorable and I love that he knows Meg well enough to just let her go on believing she knows what's going on in his life while he waits for her to catch up to how he feels about her. He knows her mind is waring with her heart and needs a bit of a push in his direction. So he chooses to adjust the things he needs to in his life while she catches up. It's adorable.

Nice short romantic read. I like the hero but the heroine kept making assumptions about the hero that I thought stretched credulity.

Do yourself a favor and read Noelle Adams' dystopian books written under the name "Claire Kent". You're welcome :)

Noelle's contemporary romances are cute, and I enjoy reading them. However this one had a weird plot point that I don't know if it was ever explained.

Meg and East are roommates, after Meg's roommates both left her previous apartment. Meg is convinced East has a girlfriend.

Meg and East are invited to lunch by her best friend and her fiance, who is East's friend. The three of them, save Meg, end up making all of these jokes about East's "girlfriend", like Meg is her but she doesn't know it?!

Then East's sister comes out of the woodwork and she's potentially on drugs and he has taken care of her for years, so Meg feels bad and that's how they officially get together.

I don't understand the back story on why Meg's friends are trying to manipulate her and why East needed a dependent sister, so in making this a novella, I would have preferred those parts of the story to not happen.

נובלה המוקדשת למג, חברתה של אן מהנובלה One Night with her Boss.

This very quick, very short novella is not only by an author whose work I have enjoyed before but it is a good example of breaking a tale down to it's essence and getting the main characters fleshed out as well as on their way to an HEA faster than normal too.

Both East and Meg were a pretty standard male/female lead.

The villains turned out to be exactly who all clues pointed to and the plot was easy to follow even predictable in certain places.

All in all an easy, fast read that am glad came my way to help start the weekend in a good frame of mind.

I love these novellas they are sweet, hot and romantic. This one was about Meg and East. I thought these two were great together. They for sure new how to push each others buttons. From the beginning you could see that they both really wanted each other but neither was willing to make the first move. Then one night something happened and both their defenses were down and they let the chemistry explode between them. What happens when morning comes? This was a really great read you don't want to miss picking it up.

Some people project a persona to protect themselves from the world. Whether it's a clown face, a nonchalance or devil may care attitude, it is often a protective barrier to keep others out, to lessen pain, and from revealing the person's true self.
If you are lucky enough to breach these protective barriers, then you have to be aware of the privilege you have been granted, and do your utmost to honor the trust granted to you.
Yes, it's a story of two people, each learning about the true self lying within the heart, soul and brain of their roommate.

Meh. I did not like either characters. Especially the hero, who is weaponized incompetence personified. And also was entitled with no recognition of his privilege -My rich daddy doesn’t value me so I act lazy to rebel but still living off of his money. And the miscommunication was way too over the top for it to be a believable couple with an HEA.

Short story

Living together for 7 months, but the story is over a couple of days. Living with someone and really liking them is one thing, building something that's based on physical attraction is another. There isn't enough story to believe it's a romance. It ends on a happy note. 🧐

Okay.

This would have to be my least favourite in the ‘one night’ series. I did like it, but I guess I’m not sure how well this couple will work together with their personalities being so dramatically different. Maybe an epilogue set years later would help.

A free novella I downloaded.
Meg rents a room in East's small house...doesn't want to admit she's falling for him, and concentrates on all his aggravating habits, and that she's pretty sure he spends some nights with girlfriend.
However...that all changes.
Of course it does...

Too quick

I liked the idea of a short and quick story but I would've loved it even more if there was more details on both characters. Otherwise a great read
