***

The town of Honeysuckle has always dwelled within the shadow of the kingdom of Zyndale, protected by the royal family and their Fae magic. When they were overthrown by the dark Fae, Honeysuckle was abandoned, as were its people. Now, they live in squalor, fighting over breadcrumbs and abused by the elite who were once sworn to protect them.

I have spent my life on the edge of that town, an orphan raised at the mercy of my cruel uncle, protected only by my twin cousins.

But when my uncle’s rage threatens one twin’s life in an alcohol-induced rage, I finally fight back.

And I unleash a power I never knew I had. A power that would put a target on my back if anyone were to find out.

So I do the only thing I can. I flee to the woods, determined to keep those I love safe.

Now I am an outlaw, fighting for my own survival.

But I’m not the only one using the woods to hide from my past. A man who once saved my life is also there—our paths crossing in unexpected ways. We both hold our secrets tightly, but in his eyes, I see a deeper truth—and so we create an uneasy alliance.

He doesn’t stand in my way while I rob from the cruel elite to save my people, and I don’t dig too deeply into the lies he’s trying so hard to keep buried.

It works. Until it doesn’t. When the false king announces a ball to find a wife for his son, I take the opportunity to pull off the biggest heist the people have ever seen.

By the time the clocks strike midnight, the kingdom of Zyndale will be forever changed, and so will my life.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It's a retelling of a couple of fairy tales with a twist that will keep you turning page after page. Kate and Tyler both embark on an adventure that they didn't realize that they needed to take.
These two ladies have done it again with an amazing adventure that will draw you in and take you away to another world for a little while. So sit back and enjoy the ride.

What an entertaining and enchanting novella! This is a bit Robin Hood and a bit Cinderella, only fae style with a witchy twist. The chemistry between our main characters is delicious and delightful. The back story was intriguing for both! You've gotta love it when the plan succeeds and the baddie is slain. This writing duo know how to create one page turning book!

I was really hopeful for this story and excited to read it. It's a unique premise, mixing Robin Hood and Cinderella. Unfortunately, it left a lot to be desired for me. It would have definitely benefited from being longer so multiple things could be more fleshed out and developed. There was no backstory for anyone other than a simple "her parents were killed by the dark fae" for Kate. Her powers felt thrown in there. It doesn't even mention any of her powers or even her ears until a good chunk of the way through the story. You get most of the way through the story and then there's a "What about your witch powers?" when it hadn't even been hinted about prior to that. She knows who and what she is, she's not trying to find out a secret. Why wouldn't it be mentioned until that far into the book? This is where you can tell that more than one person was writing this book. It would be going one way and then have something else thrown in there, almost like an after thought. The twists were predictable. The end was anti-climactic. Something started to happen and then all of a sudden it jumped to a while after it. After this minor time jump, there was something important that happened that honestly would have been way better and more dramatic if it had happened on the page, rather than off of it. This book could be longer or even be it's own series. It's definitely a unique premise. I am voluntarily reviewing this book, gifted to me by the author, with no obligation.

I really enjoyed this short story. You do not need to read Winter Witch before Spring Witch. Kate is the leader of a troupe of bandits and they are prepping for their biggest heist of all …. Crashing a fancy ball. Kate is working towards reclaiming something that was stolen from her. Along the way she meets Lord Tyler. He's the enemy, a noble and a dark fae, but those lines become blurred. Lord Tyler isn't an evil dark fae and he tries to help the people. Both Kate and Tyler have secrets. Will those secrets tear them apart or bring them closer together? My only complaint is the story wasn't long enough. I got so immersed in the story, I didn't want it to end. It has elements of Robin Hood and Cinderella with the magic of light and dark fae thrown into the mix. I look forward to next installment in the year of the witch series.

This was a good short- two to three hours- read. It mashes Cinderella and Robin Hood elements. I liked Kate and Tyler served his purpose as H. Could it have been longer yes. More back story totally. I wish it had been to be honest. Even though you can tell the plot twists in the beginning it still kept my attention and wanting to see where it went. I liked the dialogue and the side characters. It really was enjoyable.

My beef is it is short & no back story (I mean it tells you what happened but no build etc on that front). The ending seemed abrupt. I really thought it would have more of a climax instead it was a wham bam. If done full length this could have been a new series like vampire girl not just a standalone like it is in the witches series. 3.5

I flew threw The Spring Witch because the characters and storyline were that addicting. Heather Hildenbrand takes elements from Robin Hood and Cinderella and splices them together in a way that makes this story completely its own. Following our main heroine Kate, readers wonder exactly why her and her merry band are trying so hard to gain access to the ball. Is it to steal from the kingdom, or maybe it is for something much more? The action, the adventure, and the hints of romance all came together nicely in Season of the Witch book 2, and we got to see a little cameo from some of the characters in book 1. I hope we get more in this series because I love the mashup of fairytales and I want to see where Kate and her Lord Tyler are at now.

This novella is a retelling of both Robin Hood and Cinderella. Lady Kate, acting in the role of Robin Hood, makes plans to steal a ball invitation so she can take back something that was stolen from her. Who does she steal the invitation from? Lord Tyler. The mysterious dark fae. Kate and Tyler have a couple of run-ins after the initial theft. Their interactions were cute and entertaining.

The back story of Lady Kate and Lord Tyler gives you a surprise twist. However, it's only a surprise to those who haven't read a zillion of these types of books.

I would have liked to see things develop a bit more. The novella format keeps this story very simple and its happily-ever-after rushed.

I do look forward to any future novellas to come.

I love nothing more than a fairytale retelling with a kickass female lead, and Spring Witch delivers!

The female lead, Kate, is a Robin Hood type character who robs the rich to help out the poor, but it’s so much more than that. This girl is on a mission and nothing can stop her, not even a handsome male lead!

We also get a Cinderella story, sans evil stepmother and sisters, complete with a fairy godmother figure. Her band of merry scoundrels are her family, who always have her back & she theirs.

I recommend starting this book earlier in the day, because you’re not gonna wanna put it down and sleep is good for you (or so I’m told).

I can’t wait to find out what other fairytales are used in the next books!

I love the way this story was written; it weaves this beautiful language with a creative, seamless melding of Robin Hood and Cinderella. It felt like I read this in one gulp. Of course, I am a goner over light and dark fae so the plot and characters were this delicious and delightful treat.

The Spring Witch is a must read - whether because you like retellings or fae plots or just good writing and interesting characters with a lot of heart that have the potential to vanquish evil.

Long live the escape that only a good tale can provide.

I really liked the first one, Winter Witch. But this one disappointed me.

Spoiler potential....I tried to be vague, but can you really ruin a story that barely qualifies as a story?

I could nitpick, but it boils down to one thing:

Don't attempt to deceive me with tragedy only to pull the wool back as you end the book. There was no satisfaction to be found. This should've been a fuller story. It just didn't work for me. I barely got a chance to care about the characters. All fairy no tale.

Couldn’t stop reading!

This story was the perfect companion to the winter witch, and I loved it just as much!! It was a fun read and I loved Kate and Tyler- They compliment each other perfectly for the mystery and the charisma they both exude. I found it fun to see the inspiration in both titles from multiple fairy tales I grew up obsessed with. Had to read twice just to go back and find some clues I missed devouring this story the first time around. I received an advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

Kate is the leader of the Jolly Jesters. She's like Robin Hood. Her troupe robs from the rich and give to the poor. The poor in this case are the light fae. They have be persecuted by the new King of Zyndale who is a dark fae. Kate mission is the steal an invitation to a ball at the castle. While there she plans to steal an artifact from the King that will lead to the end of his reign. In an effort to steal the invite she meets Lord Tyler. He's a dark fae and she not sure if he's helping her or helping to set her up for capture.
I loved this book and it's little twist on Cinderella.

Quick and Easy Read

This is a good story to read if you are looking for something quick and easy. It has fantasy, romance, mystery, drama, and a plot twist as you follow Kate and her jolly jesters in their quest. I can’t help but feel like there was something missing from the story though, otherwise I would have given it 5 stars as it is still fun to read. Not quite the literary level as Winter Witch. Still worth the read.

Everyone that knows me just know how I adore Ms Hildenbrand writing. After reading her first book so many years ago I am stalking....I mean eagerly following her... to ensure I am not missing any new books. And with this one it wasn’t any different.

Brilliant story. Cute. Funny and such a nice retelling of fairy tales. Full of adventures and twists that you would not expect.

This duo of authors have done it again and I can’t wait for the next story!

Well done!!

Robin hood meets Cinderella

The Spring Witch is the second installment in the Season of the Witch universe following Adara's book, The Winter Witch. Kate is her kingdom's best hope for the villagers that have been overrun by the tyrannical king of the dark fae and a chance encounter brings her into the crosshairs of one of them. This was another short novella with a happy ending and I enjoyed the storyline and fairytale elements.

This book grabbed my attention and held it the entire time! The characters were great and the MC was such a badass! This Robin Hood/ Cinderella mashup was done so beautifully. The authors did an amazing job together you can’t tell where one ends and the other begins. If you love fairytale retelling a definitely pick this one up!

I really enjoyed the Winter Witch, so I was looking forward to The Spring Witch. It was a quick read and it was okay. The story was missing quite a lot of detail and jumped from one point to another without a very good sense of time. For me, the main characters had great potential, but needed a little more fleshing out. An interesting take on Robin Hood meets Cinderella.

Wowsers Batman!!!

K. K. and H. H. have a very unique perspective when it comes to fable/fantasy/ fairy tale stories! The Winter Witch and the Spring Witch are very nicely done. Unfortunately, they are very short tales with true HEA's. Quite literally ending with king and queen characters. I'm not sure what Spring Witch has to do with spring but I guess that a minor point.

mashup

this is a fantastic short story, or novella. I wish it had been longer, because I feel there is more that could be told. But it's perfect as it is. There is found family, a connection to a stranger and secrets galore. I loved it and hope they continue writing a couple more stories =D

This was such a fun read. I love a good spin on a fairytale. The tease of Kate’s secret kept me reading from beginning to end in one evening. And I almost cried toward the end. I love this story and this author is one of my absolute favorites. I definitely recommend you read this!

When you put two authors that are excellent storytellers, you get an amazing book! I couldn’t put this book down. This story is a twist on the classic Robin Hood stories. It was a refreshing twist, one that I will enjoy reading over and over. I recommend this story!

Good read

This was a very short, cute read. I liked the characters and it had a good plot but I wasn't as interested in this book as I usually am from this author.
