Wake Up, Let's Play!

WAKE UP, LET'S PLAY! is a charming board book about imagination. The book features two young friends who spend a day playing pretend. Each page begins with "Let's play" and then what they will play, such as stormy seas in the bath, snowman building in the snow, and more. The illustrations are full of color and detail that are really lovely to look at.

What I loved: The concept is really simple, but done in a way that is easy for young readers to follow and enjoy. The illustrations throughout are really lovely and feature lots of fun colors and details plus ideas for play. The book is sure to inspire new imaginative play among little readers.

What left me wanting more: The playing artist scene features coloring on the walls, which is not a great example to show and may need to be addressed, depending on how artistically inclined your little readers already are. Most scenes are relatively harmless messes (if at all).

Final verdict: A cute board book about imagination and friendship, WAKE UP, LET'S PLAY is an overall charming adventure through a fun-filled day.

Supermooie tekeningen.

In an era of battling boredom and screens, I like the mandate of this book. Illustrations are fine, and activities are good. I noticed the spraying of water in face and drawing on the walls, but it didn't bother me as much as I expected because I think the book is a safe place to have a discussion about respectful ways to play.

Lots of the play ideas would damage things in the real world. I would not recommend this book for children as it could encourage some "monkey see, monkey do" behavior that you do not want (i.e. using the shower head in the bath to create rain outside of the bath)

Nice book. Nice illustrations of imaginative and creative play. If I could change one thing, it would be for the artist scene to show something other than drawing on walls.

Two children wake up and decide to play a whole bunch of imaginative games. They play birthday party, sand castles, stormy seas in the bathtub, chefs and restaurant, busy towns with cars and trains, snowmen, and artists. As the two children pretend and imagine each game, their two trusty stuffed animals, a zebra and a penguin, are by their side in every scene.

It was fun looking for the details in each illustration, watching for the stuffed animals in the background, and delighting in all the special little objects they use to play. There are boats and rubber duckies for the bath, toy trains and cars for the busy town roads, and grass and leaves served on the plates at the imaginary restaurant.

I like the soft style of the illustrations and all the vibrant colors. The children look like they are having the time of their lives playing and imagining together.

This board book is adorable from start to finish!

It's a busy day for two friends. Almost as soon as the sun comes up and they are awake, they are ready to play. This board book begins in the morning and concludes at night after a full day of activities. Those youngsters should be tired out after all that excitement as they play all sorts of various imaginative games. For little ones struggling to find a way to entertain themselves, the colorful scenes of playing as though there were in a stormy sea, serving in a restaurant, or even building and playing with snowmen provide great possibilities. This is an adorable book, perfect for reading aloud and sharing with others. It captures perfectly what it's like to be a child. Ah, for those leisurely days when playing with a friend and spending the entire day in exactly the way you wanted to return!

This dreamy board book invites children to join in the fun that two friends find together. They play all sorts of things, like birthday party and restaurant. They build sandcastles and play stormy seas in the bath. Busy towns with wooden tracks fill the room, and sometimes art wanders onto the walls. They play through snow and even into the night. Then it’s time to figure out what to play tomorrow! Told in very simple sentences, this board book has marvelous illustrations that are quirky and fantastical. At the same time, these are exactly the games that small children play, so it is rooted in reality. A marvel of a little book.
