"We knew the risk. We decided to take it. I don't regret a single second and neither should you..." - Bryant Benson.
It started out so innocent. I saw my best friend's father at an art show, and I knew the woman hitting on him wasn't looking for love. I thought I could do him a favor. That's what I told myself and I think I even believed it. I was just going to walk up, pretend to be his date, and then we would laugh about it after she was gone.
You know what they say about the best laid plans...
One night of make believe that never should have happened. It ignited a spark inside both of us. We tried to fight it until we made a mistake, And one forbidden kiss led to so much more.

UPDATE below *** Couldn't finish it and dropping at 45%...
It wasn't horrible or anything! The characters had good chemistry which I really liked; but their repetitive inner monologues, too much overexplaining of their motivations, and lots of mundane happenings (which had not much to do with the story) just didn't do it for me. I guess my expectations were a bit high because the blurb and the cover were promising.
UPDATE
Oh well, I went in and finished it anyway, skimmed mostly. It was soooo repetitive, e.g. the word "privileged" was used 26 times in a 250-page-book... The villain, a psycho lady, was ridiculous but perfectly scary. It was a hot mess of a book and could definitely use some editing, it needn't be that long...
This is my first book by Kelli Callahan and it absolutely will not be my last. I have said it before multiple times I love the older man/younger woman trope. This is the first book in the Carson Cove Scandal Series and I can’t wait to start the second book. I didn’t know the synopsis going into this just that the guy on the front was clearly over forty and extremely good-looking.
This had so much more to it, than what could have been a very ho hum story. I will say that maybe it dragged a little in the last half of the book but it certainly isn’t stopping me from continuing this series.
Forbidden Kiss is book 1 in the Carson Cove Scandals and also the first book I have read from this author. It starts out with Taylor a college student winning a ticket to an elite art show and running into her best friends dad who is getting hit on by Alexis a woman who collects husbands and has her sights set on Bryant who is super rich and super sexy. Taylor decides to interrupt and pretend to be Bryant's date. I loved their interactions and their chemistry was hot. Although it wasn't easy for either of them because they knew it would be hard for their families to accept. So know the reason for my 3.5 stars is because IMO around 70% the story took a ridiculous turn and honestly really annoyed me. The villian aka Alexis the husband collector was portrayed to be so powerful and had so much dirt on everybody that she was blackmailing practically the entire town. I'm sorry it just went on to long and changed my feeling towards the book. Now even though I had some issues it was still enjoyable and I do plan to read book 2.

Another great read by Kelli Callahan. Bryant is rich, sexy as sin, divorced and her best friend’s father. Taylor is screwed (in more ways than one ). Crushing on her best friend’s father since her teens, Taylor gives in to her feelings when they share a kiss meant to be just for show. Things are complicated, more so when a woman with her eyes set on Bryant decides to tear down everyone standing in her way. Taylor and Bryant’s happily ever after does finally arrive but not after an interesting detour. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

I'm sitting here stunned and still trying to process the intense, dramatic, and sexy read that I just finished. I think my hand was over my mouth for most of the book, and I couldn't stop gasping, re-reading what I just read, and trying to take in the devastation of this book. However, I also couldn't put it down and walk away. This book swept me up, utterly devastated me, and spit me back out repeatedly. However, I'm going back in for a re-read right now!!!
Please note that I did receive an ARC of this book, and the opinions expressed in this review are my own.

Another amazing book. I really enjoy the older man younger woman books. They make the best love stories. This one was really good and I recommend everyone give it a try.
Whoa! I love an older man, younger woman romance and Kelli Callahan has a way of sucking you in and making you want them even more! Bryant and Taylor were smoking, even if what they started shouldn't have happened. But their connection was undeniable and maybe even inevitable. There's some angst, suspense, lots of loving and I love the epilogue!

This was an enjoyable read and just right for kindle unlimited and it filled a few hours perfectly. It’s about an older divorced man who falls for his daughters friend, someone who’s also had a secret crush on him and with a bit of drama thrown in from a rival interest. I would suggest you read this series in order as the story will flow better and to find out if they get their happy ending you’ll need to borrow your copy today. Another great read from Kelli.
Taylor is an art student and sees her best-friends father at an art show. She helps him out when a woman is hitting on him and she pretends to be his date. Sparks fly between them but will others try to tear them apart? Fast-paced read with great characters. The story is entertaining with lots of drama. I liked it.
I really enjoyed this forbidden story. I thought the story was amazing. There wasn’t any hesitance on the guys end and he had a lot of things going on. I felt extremely bad for Taylor and what she was dealing with. Overall it was intriguing and incredibly suspenseful.
There wasn't enough romance in the book. If the characters did get together, they were usually only ever having sex. And that whole blackmail ordeal took way too much time out of the story for the two love interests.

Phrase I never want to read again: venomous bitch. Can't we use something else to describe an entitled villainess??? This was used...A LOT.
This story started out pretty good. The chemistry between Taylor and Bryant was good. I liked the build-up in the gallery and pretending to be together. It was a good set up. I was really enjoying it until the supreme evil angle with Alexis, then the story taking a weird left turn with Shaina, and whatever that was with Sarah. It lost a lot of momentum and intensity and turned into kind of wacky hijinks.
I get not being wealthy, but Taylor was plenty privileged. She lived in Carson Cove, which is an affluent place, in general. Granted, she didn't live in the extremely wealthy part of town in a mansion and have an expensive car, but she grew up in, what I would consider, an upper middle-class environment, where she had plenty of money for school. She didn't need to take out student loans or work. She was an art major who suddenly had this successful art career b/c of her connections. She didn't struggle at all. That's pretty privileged to me, and there's nothing wrong with that. I don't know why that was brought up so much. I get that maybe she was just trying to make it clear that she wasn't a snob and would actually have to work for a living, in which case, she could've just said that and kept going. Other than that, I was okay with Taylor. I liked her.
I liked Bryant as well. I don't know how he allowed himself to be blackmailed. Taylor I understood, b/c she wasn't in the same position and was younger and couldn't really do anything. But Bryant should have know better. He's very wealthy. He should know not to give in to blackmail.
Also, the Dean at the University should have been fired for participating in falsely destroying a student's academic career with someone who is not associated at the school at all. He spoke about an honor code violation? He and everyone else was being blackmailed by Alexis and no one could do anything about it? I liked the hacking to bring her down. She was over the top, that called for something just as drastic to stop her. It's also brings some realism into it. Hacking does happen and often.
The Shaina plot was weird and took me out of the flow of the story. Her family just popped up with comments about not talking to her and the focus shifted to her, while I didn't know anything about her. So basically, she started using cocaine b/c she didn't want to go to law school and, for whatever reason, was afraid to tell her parents, who seem completely supportive of their kids. But, somehow, while she started using, she didn't become so addicted that it would have any real lasting consequences. Rehab for thirty days and she'll be good? Including this, along with her boyfriend, and her being conveniently, secretly recorded across the country to be used for future blackmail opportunities (?) was a choice. Was Alexis also recording Victoria and Dylan. That entire part made no sense.
I liked how mature Victoria was about her best friend and father falling in love. It helps that everyone remembered that they're adults and didn't give them too hard of a time. At no point did they do anything wrong by being together, so I appreciated that. Yes, they were scared to let people know, but that's only natural, given their ages and connection.
I enjoyed Anna. I thought she was a good character. I also liked their mom and wish we got more of her.
Weird unexplained part: Sarah, Bryant's ex, wants to see him to tell him something. She said it wasn't about the kids, otherwise she would tell him on the phone. Bryant also acknowledged that if it were about their kids, she'd just tell him, instead of holding him in suspense. Then, cut to them at the hospital in NY, after Shaina's ordeal and she said she wanted to discuss Shaina. Also, Victoria did the same thing, after telling Taylor that her mom was unhappy and wanted Bryant back. She later also dismissed it as Sarah just wanting to talk about Shaina. This also made absolutely no sense.
I'm glad Taylor and Bryant ended up together, but it all felt rushed. Taylor's dad suddenly appears for the proposal, but he wasn't around at all in the book. He wasn't interested in his children's lives at all, after leaving their mom previously, but now it's all good?
It got zany along the way, but I still liked it. Although there were some glaring errors with grammar, missing words, and way too many uses of the the same phrase by two separate people (see above), it was still a fast read.

This one just fell flat for me. I liked the premise of the book from the blurb but it fell way short of my expectations. One of my main issues is the constant reminder that Taylor is not from the "privileged" sect of residents. And by constant reminder I mean it's on like every over page. It's ridiculous how much this is repeated over and over. As if Taylor is some poor impoverished person which she absolutely is not. She's just not the 1%. My other gripe is Bryant's inner monologues about being so tired...as if he is old. Seriously I felt at times i was reading about a man in his 50-60s than his 40s. It made him rather unbelievable and unattractive as the lead man. Super disbelieving how basically everyone just accepted them as a couple, was hoping to see more conflict around that. I gave the book 3 stars because it was a quick read. ETA: I forgot to mention the cringe inducing mentions of him confirming her virginity claims by being able to locate her hymen. WTF. I mean seriously, that part was super YIKES and enforces misinformation about hymens and virginity.
The premise had sounded good, but I couldn't get into this book. First of all, the H and h didn't have any kind of a relationship except for sex. Bryant didn't even hesitate to have sex with his daughter's friend, someone he'd known since she was a kid. And unprotected sex at that. Since the h was a virgin, you'd think Bryant would figure out that she wasn't on the pill. Dumb. Also Alexis, the woman who was causing all kinds of havoc in this little town, came across like Cruella DeVille. She just wasn't believable, and the fact that it was two teenagers who figured out how to bring her down just made Bryant seem all the dumber, not a hero type at all. I get that he was trying to protect his older daughter from scandal, but the guy just had no backbone. In addition, the dialog was uninspired. I don't think I'll be reading any more books by this author.
1 - DNF @ 56% - I wanted to DNF at like 30%, but I tried to see if it got better but I just couldn't take any more. I pick up these smutty romance books for an easy reading and I'm not trying to read something I'm not into.
There is almost no development in the relationship and when they have unprotected sex after he finds her hymen when fingering her I wanted to put it down. I like may-december romances. I was hopeful that it would be a good one when the main female character wasn't 18, but for some reason she never had sex before, but after spending one day with the father of her former? best friend she falls into bed with him and no one thinks of protection. I just couldn't. I'm not here for the weird virginal trope that people are obsessed with. ugh!
This is an older man, younger woman romance that I tend to avoid, but was very well written. Taylor wasn’t immature looking for a “daddy” figure. She knew what she wanted, was grounded, and fairly open. Bryant was coming off a bitter divorce that hurt him deeply - whether she hurt his heart or hurt his ego remains to be see. He hadn’t been looking for a relationship and was surprised at his reaction to Taylor.
Much of the story revolves around a villainess that seems intent on destroying everyone’s lives and businesses. It was a page turner to keep up with what was going on and how it could possibly all be resolved. Enjoy the story!
Taylor falls for her best friend's father, but there is more than an age differences and social taboos keeping them apart. They have to overcome interference from an evil antagonist as well. This book had a lot going on. I really hated the antagonist, and I hated that she could manipulate the people in the story. Bryant did not seem to have the self-control I would have expected, giving into Taylor's temptation easily. Their chemistry was good and the physical scenes were hot. I was intrigued and a little frustrated with the twists and turns, but I refused to put the book down. I really wanted these two to get their HEA.
4.5 Stars as this author gave an edge to a rather predictable storyline. I thought this would be an entertaining book about an older man, Bryant, that falls for a younger woman, Taylor. I figured hiding their very hot love affair from his twenty-some year old daughter, who just happens to to be Taylor’s childhood friend would be their biggest issue. That in itself would be a challenge. I just never expected how this story would unfold and the deplorable things Bryant and Taylor would have to endure. Both theirs lives are falling apart at the seams with no hope in sight. It will take help from their love ones to escape the reign of terror they are under.
A fast paced read if that’s what you’re looking for. I really WANTED to like this book more. The meet-cute was great and had so much ch potential for a slow burn romance. I liked the characters a lot. It just felt so thrown together. It was definitely a type of insta love story with a HEA. I throw a lot of reason out of the window when reading romances because they are just plain fun, but even I couldn’t justify two nights of them just having sex and then professing their undying love for one another. How? You said like 5 sentences to each other? Like I said it’s a quick read with good characters and if you’re not looking for something with depth you may enjoy it.
Really good story. I HATE. Alexis. She is the embodiment of evil. Like why must people like her exist in the world. I really liked the relationship between Bryant and Taylor. I mean yes there is quite the age gap and the fact that she is his daughters best friend but they had a connection and made each other happy. So who is to say that is wrong. Besides the fact that they loved each other and the sex scenes were so hot. He had this commanding slightly dominate side to him. Looking forward to the next book.
Taylor poses as Bryant's girlfriend at an art show and since he is her best friend's father, considers it a joke on a divorcee who is looking for husband number four. They agree to attend an auction and fall for each other. But, the divorcee manipulates Taylor's and her family to break them up. However, bad deeds do not always go unpunished and the divorcee gets more than she bargained for, including jail time.
Dialogues are usually the best part of any story but not this one. I was so bored that I skipped through even some of the "hot" scenes. I hated Bryant. I didn't care abt the female protagonist- seriously she was a piece toast. Alexis actions felt forced and cringy. I hated the way the author jumped through time. There was a lot of telling and not enough showing. I don't recommend this at all.
Ah I love me a good age-gap book, and this one did not disappoint. We have our 23 year old heroine who basically saves our 45 year old hero from a leech. A hot kiss, and bam. However our hero is also the best friend's dad which makes it even more steamy. I loved both characters so so much, that I re-read it two days later. haha
Well written transitions and timeline flowed perfectly. Each character was developed in an amazing way. I wasn't so sure on the main relationship at first, but as things picked up I was happy. The sex scenes were not drawn out too much but they painted a good enough picture.
I'm so glad they didn't actually get to the wedding part.

You will not forget the name of the town. It is literally used in about each paragraph. Everything is Carson Cove. Everyone knows something about everyone else but no one says a word. To be fair Taylor seemed to be the only thing relatively safe as a character. Not a book that would interest me to read books of this author in the future.
A fantastic read with plenty of intrigue. The chemistry between Bryant and Taylor could not be denied. Terrible Alexis tried her best put herself where she doesn't belong but she underestimate the love of a best friend/daughter and a sister, who would work together to do whatever it takes to save the people they love.
