I won’t rate this cause it’s not my style. The story is about an old married couple. There is no breeding which is my favorite theme. They have only one son and in the end they become grandparents.

"Married in the Mountains" is the story of Honey and Ford.

Well, this was different.
Unlike the usual AR trope, this one had a LONG married couple who run a camp, and we basically get a glimpse into their lives. The heroine is sweet, the hero is a gentle giant. They have a grown up son- whose to be relationship is hinted at- and so are the stories of multiple other characters.

This was..just OK. Nice but it was missing..something.

I cannot tell you how much I have missed reading these two ladies books. I was so pleased when I saw it, it was a little like Christmas.

This book felt more like an introduction in to Camp Hard Wood, meeting the besotted and lovable owners of the summer camp and discovering their story. Honey met Ford when she was a scholarship student attending the camp when he rescued her from the lake and from that moment on they have been inseparable and their love has only grown stronger over the years, now running the camp together and the couple’s son Van taking an active role in the business you can see things are about to get interesting.

This is a fun, sweet story with the right amount of possessive male and cute heroine with the odd chuckle thrown in. Great start to a new series.

Sign me up for camp! Cause I have to say this sounds like a place I'd fit right in.

The first book in this series was super sexy and damn sweet!

Honey and Ford met and fell in love at camp. From the moment he rescued her from the water Ford knew she was it for him.

This guy is Alpha with a capitol A. He made me laugh out loud when the campers called his wife by her name. No one calls her Honey but him.

It's a fast read and our Queens deliver with over the top yumminess and characters who leave you wanting more.

Welcome back ladies.

I didn't realize how addicted to Alexa Riley I was until I couldn't get her books.
In Married in the Mountains the couple may be an established married couple but he is no less the over the top possessive alpha Male that we are use to with this author.
Absolutely loved Honey and Ford.

Me gusto que esta pareja sea ya madura, creo que le aporto un punto diferente, en parte porque los romances que suelo leer no suelen tener a protagonistas en ese rango de edad, y aunque no es de mis favoritas, estuvo bien, ademas se lee en un instante.

**3.5 Stars**

Ford fell for his wife at Camp Hardwood and vice versa, therefore, it holds a special place in both their hearts, so, when they had the chance they bought. Now, they give other kids the chance to experience the magic they found, whether theirs results in memories, friendships, or HEAs, they want to be a part of it.

This year they have new occupants, and employees, and, as always, Honey keeps a protective, motherly eye over those in her family, as she calls them. Her and Ford's only child, Van, even more so.

Ford is very protective and possessive of the woman that captured his heart so long ago and would do anything for her. Heck, he even hates when others call her Honey, you know, her name. LOL

I'm looking forward to the rest of this series and seeing not only more of this couple, but at those hinted about, too.

One-click now and meet this adorable couple and the people who will steal hearts on their own.

Glad Alexa Riley is back.. i need my dose of fluff and fun :) quick super fluff read..

Honey and Ford are already married owning a camp and have a son working at the camp with a bunch of workers that are going to have their own stories (later on lol).

I love married couples the only thing i disliked was Ford getting annoyed at everyone calling Honey... Honey.. 🤣🤣🤣🤣 thats her first name... but he hates it.. shes only his honey.. like dude.. thats her nameee lol beside that i love alpha males and he was always making sure his wife was happy and protected.. only drama that happens is snake bite, lost girl and a mysterious guy looking for a woman that works with them.. I'm ready for the rest!!

Why low i think we could have more in this book.. way more.. :/

No ow/om drama, no cheating, secondary charas, sexy times, no virgins

Recommend- yeah

Ford and Honey fell in love at Camp and bought it in the future. Their love for each other is unbreakable and stronger than ever. I can't wait to see all the other couples fall in love at Camp Hardwood.

I was not a fan of this story. Something was off, I haven't felt the sparks that were supposed to be sizzling between the married couple.
I would call it a slightly-burnt starter to the main courses.

Honey and Ford. Ohh!!! I am so in love with this series!! I couldn’t wait to hit the next one. This series was different from other novellas I read. This one was also special for me, because this one was more likely a HEA story. It was so much fun, and I enjoyed it so much!!!

“I’ve got her,” I say as I scoop her up in my arms and feel her warm, small body against mine.

“Ford,” she mumbles, and for a moment I close my eyes in thanks.

“I’m right here, baby, and you better stay with me.”

She nods and I feel her even breathing as I walk out of the office and take her home.

Ford and Honey were married for ten years and had a son, Van. They were running a Camp with so many employees. For many years’ marriage, their chemistry were still burning heavily. Their sexual scenes were also hot and sexy!! Ford loves Honey so much, and when he saw Honey was bite by a snake, am he was almost insane and more overprotective.

“I can’t stay in this bed forever,” I declare, and he looks up at me with a wanna bet look. “I love you, Ford, but you know I can’t.” He lets out a long sigh before turning his head to kiss my belly.

“I love you too, Honey, more than anything, and seeing you lying there like that—” He shakes his head. “I felt so damn helpless. I can’t lose you.” His words are almost strangled as he gets choked up.

“I’ll never leave you.” I can’t believe the world would ever take me from him. Death wouldn’t stand a chance against my man when it comes to me. “I promise I won’t go anywhere without you knowing.”

“Last night…“ He starts to remind me of my attempt to sneak out but I cut him off.

“I love you but if you keep me caged in this bedroom I’m going to try and escape. I’m letting you know that now. If you let me go—“

“Never,” he rumbles deep in his chest and I fight a laugh. It’s kind of adorable, not that I’ll tell him that.

I had to say I really really enjoyed this one!!! Highly recommended!! I really hope the book can contents how they met each other and more funny plots~~

“Let’s go to bed,” I say, carrying her into the other room.

“But I’m not sleepy.” Her eyes are heavy and I smile at her and shake my head.

“You don’t have to be awake for the next part. I’ll be quick,” I tease her, and she perks up.

“What’s the next part?” She licks her lips.

“Happily ever after,” I say as I lean in and kiss her.

Super sweet. Insane and possessive, and absolutely ALPHA HERO. I couldn’t wait to see other guys romances story in this series!!!

And their son, hahahaha, their son was hilarious when he was chasing his girl. This one just mentioned a little details but I will read their son’s romance story book in this series. ♥️♥️♥️

This is a short story about a small slice of married life. The story left many questions and didn't really satisfy. It was I guess, steamy hot, but I never connected with the couple. But I did really love that the story was about an older couple who had been together since they were teenagers.

They have an 18 year old son, they employee a variety of people with tiny spinets of a story to maybe come. Ends with them becoming grandparents but the son has no story yet.

I was disappointed because it had the possibility to be something more. That's why I gave it three stars. Just not my kind of love story.

This was a cute short story to start off this series. It introduced the whole camp and focused on Honey and Ford who met at the camp as teens, married now and own and run it together. It had some steamy scenes between them but also introduced a bunch of other characters that will be in the next books. It was a different type of book by this author but the same sexy times as usual.

3⭐️ and I’ll most likely continue on with the series.

Nobody does it better with an already married couple then AR. So freaking sweet and still the possessive alpha Male we all love. I like this little world they created and I'm excited to meet the rest of the characters. Ford and Honey are so perfect and I know everyone dreams of a marriage like that. All around beautiful HEA!!!

Married in the Mountains (Camp Hardwood, #1) by Alexa Riley ⭐⭐⭐

Hero - Ford Cyprus. Co-owner of Camp Hardwood; also comes from a wealthy family. A gentle giant with a short beard streaked with some gray.

Heroine - Honey Cyprus. Co-owner of Camp Hardwood. Dirty-blonde hair and olive skin.

Overall Thoughts - This was a cute, sweet, slightly steamy read. However, it was also light on depth and details, bringing my rating down a bit.

Honey and Ford have been together since they were teens when they met at the same summer camp that they now own and run. We also meet their son Van, who’s recently turned 18, as well as a small cast of staff and campers. There’s Tia, a counselor whose primary responsibility is in the kitchen, and who is set up as the love interest of Van.

Then we have Piper, who's hired on as a counselor as the story opens, and Hawk, the mysterious man who came around asking about her. Piper’s in the early stages of pregnancy and it’s hinted he might have something to do with that.

Finally, there’s Zara, who’s a camper, and the camp’s ranger, Moose. Of the relationship setups, I’d say theirs was the least obvious since they have no interaction on page, and the only hint of what to come is that he’s the one to find her when she gets lost in the woods toward the end.

I loved the camp setting and the sweet love displayed between our married H/h. He doesn’t like people calling her Honey, nevermind that it’s her given name. It’s a bit silly, but it didn’t bother me. Beware, there’s a snake bite in this book, just in case anyone’s really not a fan of those creatures.

Where things go south for me is that the story is vague on details, not only physical characteristics and ages, but I also wanted more backstory on how Honey and Ford met, how their relationship progressed, how/when did he propose...all that good stuff! It sounded like in the beginning they only saw each other at camp during the summer, so what did they do when they were apart during the school year? I was also unsure of the passage of time in this story. By the end, I wasn’t sure if a week had gone by, or several of them. EDIT 1/13/21: this question was answered in the next book when we learn Zara has only been at camp for a week when she gets lost in the woods.

Another thing that bothered me was Honey and Ford’s assumption that Piper was running from something. She never told them that, nor did I pick up on anything in their interactions that would have led them to that conclusion.

Just because she's currently staying in motels and/or in her car didn’t necessarily mean she was on the run. She could’ve simply been in need of a job - which was why she was at the camp in the first place. The reason why this bothers me so much is because we’ve got a pregnant girl, a man who’s come looking for her, and two well-meaning, but ignorant people who choose not to tell Piper about it because they think she’s in hiding and knowing that he’s looking for her might stress her out. Even if she is on the run, she deserves to know if the person she’s running from is thisclose to finding her. This kind of thing drives me nuts! If you couldn’t tell. LOL

I do think this book is worth a read, but it’s not one of the writing duo’s best works.

As the description says, Honey and Ford Cyprus fell in love at Camp Hardwood when they were kids. Now they own and run it. As with most Alexa Riley stories, Ford is growly, possessive, protective, and completely in love with his woman (wife). He is from a wealthy family who sent him to the camp as a kid because "he was being a little prick and needed to be humbled." Honey, a foster kid, attended the camp on scholarship. The two met and fell in love (instantly, and over the years). They bought the camp and open it to kids like Honey. They have an 18-year-old son who also works at the camp. That's pretty much the set-up to the story.

Three and a half stars -- rolled up to 4. This is the start to a new series by Alexa Riley about the couple who owns Camp Hardwood. Future entries will tell the stories of Ford and Honey's son, Van, and other employees of the camp. (Currently, there are four stories on the series list.)

Overall, I really liked Ford and Honey and the camp setting. I loved that AR gave us a couple still hot for one another after 25+ years together -- and there are a lot of scenes that prove that. It's one thing to get epilogues of regular love stories that show couples still together, but another to see an ongoing hot-for-one-another MARRIED couple featured. As with most AR stories, it doesn't lack in possessiveness, love, and steamy scenes. It also sets up the next three stories. Read it more as an introduction to the series and the characters rather than as the continuing love story of Ford and Honey. Though it is that too, it really reads more as an introduction sprinkled with Ford and Honey. (That, however, didn't diminish my enjoyment of the story!)

My only negatives...
1) I wish there had been more of Ford and Honey's back story. It's not like it's left out, we know a lot about it. I just wish we got the story much the same way we got Reed and Cami's story in Ringing in the New Year, snippets of the two of them together over the years. I'm actually hoping that it's a bonus with one of the other books (a la Law and Joey in Mechanic) or that we get their full story later on -- even with the spoilers we know from the rest of series.

2) A character is introduced at the beginning of this book that is given a back story that later on is attributed to another character. The descriptions of later books sort of prove this out. It didn't detract from the story of Ford and Honey, but did make me go back to verify things.
