Micah and Jake
Trapped by snow they can’t leave the cabin they’re in. They promised their parents to inventory the cabin for a plan for the future. Micah hates his ex-stepbrother Jake, not! He has a crush from the very first minute he saw Jake and he will never tell.
But being trapped brings them together. Micah even confesses his crush from years ago. They kiss and more.
After being freed from all the snow and safe in a hotel they have a passionate night, only Micah is gone and leaves Jake behind without a word.
Jake is deeply hurt and doesn’t want to see Micah anymore, if possible maybe ever.
Lovely story with a lot of miscommunication, unspoken words and unspoken feelings.
I loved both men. They are stubborn, fun, vulnerable and sweet.
Wonderfully written, steady-paced story. With great environments and a nice plot.

Micah and Jake are ex-stepbrother and have had an ongoing hate fest since they were teenagers but getting snowed in together in a dusty, old cabin is enough to bring light to the “hatred” and realize it for what it is — lots of pining and lust on both ends.
This was probably my favorite of the whole series yet. It was both sexy and filled the perfect amount of feels and pining. A win for me.

Step-brothers, stuck together by a storm...
Gosh, I wish I could have read the 9 yr. ago Epilogue, at the beginning, to set up the pair. What I felt was two guys, step-brothers, who were enemies, for nine years, always avoiding, criticizing, and condescending to each other. They had nothing in common, except for wanting each other sexually. The constant bickering wore me out. They were adults now, but were so immature. The ending was good, but the struggle to get to it.... too negative.
This just wasn’t for me. I had high hopes, but others liked it, so, you can take a chance. It must be me.
Being snowed in is usually a winner for me.

As much as I love Beth’s books, this one really wasn’t for me. It’s not the writing or anything like that, I’m just not a big fan of the whole step-brother/ex step-brother trope. And that’s my own personal reason. As always, Beth’s writing is good. But I also had a hard time with the guys in general. The two MCs, ex step-brothers, just really got on my nerves a lot lol.
From the time Jake and Micah met, as their parents were getting married, they seemed to have to one up each other. For Micah, it was a defense mechanism, in order to hide that he secretly lusted after Jake. For Jake, he liked Micah himself, but was firmly keeping Micah in the kid category. Even when their parents divorced, their business remained joined. Micah went into the business, Jake had to tour the world, doing a blog to get away. For years and years, they kept at each other. Constantly doing things to tick the other off or something. Until their parents became sneaky and forced them in a cabin to at least try to talk. What no one planned was the blizzard or how the feelings came out. And once they could leave, Micah ran this time. And Jake has decided if he wants to keep Micah, he’s going to have to do something to make Micah really face how he feels. And lay his cards on the table as well.
These two. Shew. I almost wanted to shake them both. For being adults, they still acted so much like children. It was driving me nuts. I know for the both of them, it was a reaction against the other. Neither wanted to admit they liked the other. For Micah, he never wanted to admit it because he felt like Jake looked at him as an inferior because of how smart he was and that Jake got to travel the world. For Jake, it was almost the same. He felt like Micah looked down on him because he could barely finish a year of college before leaving. And Jake also like knowing he could rile Micah up. Which was an extra dig. When they actually decided to talk, and things went further, I could understand why Micah wanted and did run. Jake had the ability to destroy him with a comment or something and Micah wouldn’t be able to handle it.
It’s hard when you care about someone and you don’t know how they feel. Or if the only feeling you’ve ever known from them is animosity. It makes things difficult. But communication is what has to happen in order for anything to change. And actually listening.

This is another one in the series where I couldn't stand one of the main characters. Micah was an ass. That didn't change much the more I read. Jake, I loved, but I just didn't really get a feel for him and Micah together.
I also had a problem with the epilogue, with the exception of one particular section. I don't like flashbacks in books unless it's part of a prologue. I felt like I was reading the same thing I'd just read all over again. It didn't work for me.
Overall, I like the story okay, but it wasn't my favorite in the series by any means.

Sweet story
This was a great book. Sweet, hot and funny.
I quite enjoyed the ennemies to lovers trope here, it was well written and the banter/snark between them was fun to read, especially as it revealed so much.
I loved both characters. They were both nice guys, but unable to move past certain things, until the forced proximity and following events pushed them to look better at the other man.
Overall a great story

I liked this book... I'm not sure why, because there wasn't any ONE thing that stands out in my mind that made this story special... but I really liked it! Pretty sure I haven't read anything else by this author, but I am going to give it a check and plan to try another of her books... just to see if this one was a fluke for me! *grin*

This book is an entry in the 2020 Valentine’s Inc series. There isn’t a mention of the usual hook that ties the stories in this series together…matches from the dating app Valentines Inc…though the app is mentioned in passing as relating to a tangential character. The common theme for this series is people getting snowed in together which works as a hook to tie the series together but doesn’t really feel like a Valentines Inc related tie in. I miss that hook.
The MCs in this book are Micah and Jake, two former stepbrothers. They were semi-related for 18 months during their late teen years when their parents, who married for business reasons, were together. That whole setup really didn’t make a lot of sense to me…businesses can merge without the two main parties getting married and its never really explained why that was the choice that was made. It just seems like a forced story element. Now the parents have conspired to get their feuding offspring to resolve their differences by trapping them together in an old mountain cabin. It’s a pretty bad plan considering the two of them could have died as a result of being trapped somewhere with no power, heat or connection to the outside world in a blizzard. It’s especially poor planning on Micah’s mother’s part as he is a city slicker through and through and she had to know he would be woefully unprepared for what was to come. And hello, do the parents not have a weather app on their phones or computers?!
I had a hard time getting to care about the MCs and almost gave up on the book. Micah especially I found unlikeable. Jake was more sympathetic but due to wanting to repeatedly slap Micah I couldn’t engage with Jake. The ending of the book really grabbed me though and the resolution to the conflict was very satisfying, so it made the earlier part of the story worth it. Thus, at the end, I was pleased with the book and it was a satisfying story.
The epilogue, which was set up as a then and now kind of thing, was a bit strange but was illuminating. I’m not sure if I would have preferred that info earlier in the book or if the different type of epilogue worked better.
It’s a quick, sweet read and others may identify more with Micah in which case they will love the book even with the dumb plot device.

Micah had always been a cute kid—and Jake had resolutely kept him in that “kid” category, because it was easier. But now he clearly fit into a whole other category and Jake was terrified that category was “guys I’m attracted to." — Jake Lewis

This won't be for everyone, it is a stepbrother romance. Though there is a bit of a twist there. Their parents are not currently married, it wasn't a love match and it was brief. They were in their teens when the marriage happened, and since then they have been at each other throats, specialising in pranks between them (there is an enemies-to-lovers feel to this at times). Neither of them has even acted upon the simmering attraction between them, both assuming it was one way. The plot is what it says on the tin they get snowed in in a cabin. It is a simple but well-executed plot. I find snowed in is a perfect trope to use for this type of relationship. It forces them to sort their s**t out.
Characters are why I read books and I like the characters in this. This has a very limited cast, the two protagonists Micah Mattocks and Jake Lewis, and their mother and father respectively, Marjorie and George. I truly appreciate the marriage setup for Jake and Micah's parents. Marjorie and George were married "for approximately one year, six months, ten days, and forty-eight minutes." to cement a business merger. It feels perfectly modern and suits the exceptionally practical Marjorie (I love her, and would probably read this again for her). Micah is a sweetie in that way a workaholic can be, also he wears suits like armour, that is one of my fave concepts *cough*d'Abo's Gar Stitt*cough*. Jake was somewhat unexpected, his temperament and his reasoning. I like the differences and dichotomy between them. The workaholic and the insta famous traveler. The bristly and the charmer. Together they just work, as is so often the norm in fiction, but it of course requires compromise.
I would have enjoyed this much more if I had read it over a shorter time frame. But due to a new job, I lost the ability to focus on reading. I like my job and god knows I need it but I need to read too, for the sake of my sanity. I'm so backlogged on reviews for the same reason, so my reviews are going to lose quality for a while.

How do two former stepbrothers that have a lot of baggage deal with being stranded alone in an epic snowstorm? Well, in the beginning not too well.
Micah’s mother and Jake’s father were briefly married so the men do not share any DNA. The marriage was done as part of a business merger which I honestly could not understand but I went with the flow. Micah claims it was the worst 18 months of his life until they divorced because of his resentment of Jake. The real truth goes much deeper as Micah suffered from a huge crush over Jake. Watching a stream of both boyfriends and girlfriends that Jake was with caused Micah to push him away and treat him with animosity and anger. He was resentful that Jake never was interested in him over his meaningless hookups. This caused Micah to put up protective shields in the form of snark and insults.
While I had a harder time relating to Micah, Jake was an absolute charmer. He suffered from his own self-esteem demons and felt he could never live up to how smart and successful Micah is. The two men were always secretly attracted to each other and now being in such confined quarters cannot deny their feelings. Micah is a careful and exact person who loves his job and has literally made it his entire life. Jake travels and takes chances and has a more casual attitude about life. Since the men both work for their parents who have maintained their business relationship they always butt heads. Can Micah loosen up and admit he really cares while Jake slows down and settles for a more stable world?
This really did feel like an insta-love moment to me even though they have known each other for almost a decade. The epilogue was wonderful and innovative and the story-line this was a fun and enjoyable read. I do recommend you give this book a try. Happy Reading!

This book had me swooning and heart-eyed throughout its entirety. The chemistry between Micah and Jake was smoking and on fire. Beth Bolden has done it again with this novel, capturing two characters that love-to hate each other while also deep-down in denial about their true emotions. This novel features an ex-step-brother romance, with enemies-to-lovers trope. It is off the charts HOT. I would say this is a must read for those looking for a cute and steamy MM romance.
Micah’s mother married Jake’s father when he was 15-years-old. Upon meeting Jake, Micah knew there was no denying it anymore; he was gay and he wanted his new brother. So, in order to prevent himself from revealing his true feelings he did whatever he could to put distance between them. Except Jake didn’t give in and take Micah’s snipping, he gave as good as he got.
Now nine-years later Micah is sent by his mother to value a cabin for a possible project proposal. Unbeknownst to him, Jake is also sent to the cabin by his father for the same reasons. What neither of their parents intended was for the two men to be caught in a blizzard leaving them trapped in the snowy cabin without much food, and heat for an undeterminable amount of days. In close counters, Jake has had enough with all of Micah’s antics and insists he just speak his mind. So, Micah lays all his cards on the table and finally admits to Jake that he had a crush on him and he acted out as a defense mechanism to push him away. But Jake had a secret too; he liked Micah but placed him firmly in the “kid” category, because if he didn’t, he would have to admit just how attracted he was to his ex-step-brother.

This book was sooooooo damn good! They clashed so perfectly. I loved how Micah had the first chapter and got to gush/vent/ramble to himself about this feelings for Jake. It was a perfect opening for how their relationship developed.
I most certainly full-on bawled in the living room during several parts of this book, because it did get hella angsty, but wow, it was so fucking cute! It was fluffy and sweet and spicy and fight-y. It was glorious. So. Damn. Good.
Definitely adding Beth to my needs-to-binge-soon list.

Micah and Jake have been at odds from the moment they met after their parents got married 10 years ago and it continued even after they got divorced, could getting stranded in a dilapidated cabin during a snowstorm be what they need to finally find some common ground?
Okay, so I really liked Jake, he wasn't really the one who started with the animosity between him and Micah, and while he definitely went with it and boy if he didn't pull a great one with that fish, LOL, I just couldn't find it in myself to blame him. It took me a while longer to empathize with Micah. I could see where he was coming from and how lashing out at Jake rather than jumping him sounded like the better alternative, all things considered. Micah was so stubborn, though, even with Jake trying to make an effort to mend their differences and him jumping to conclusions. I felt he was very juvenile in his reactions, which didn't endear him to me. This doesn't mean that I didn't love him and Jake together, because I totally did, the sparks practically jumped from the page whenever they were in close proximity, and the UST and later the sex? OMG, off-the-charts hot!
Their parents were cool, but really meddling, although I guess we can say it kinda backfired on them? Hahahaha!
Snow Job was a great read, light, fun, hot and not overly angsty, and the epilogue was genius! Actually the one thing that would've made it better would've been Micah doing a grand gesture, too, and not just Jake, although I could see why Ms. Bolden did it the way she did it. Definitely recommendable!

Ohh...Beth Bolden's Snow Job is a fun ex-stepbrothers romance. The fifth book in the multi-author Snowed In - Valentine's Inc, it catches your interest from the first page.
Micah and Jonah, two former stepbrothers, suddenly find themselves stranded at a family cabin during a snow storm. Long time enemies, this is a story of long held crushes between two complete opposites. The tension is high, the feelings are strong, and the chemistry explosive.
This is a story of two men putting their complicated and painful past behind themselves. It's a story of two men dropping their defences and exploring their feelings all while trying to come to terms with their emotions.
As for the reason they came to the cabin, I thoroughly enjoy the way this aspect is developed. It's inspirational, easy to picture in one's mind, and full of sentiment.
The author's writing style is comforting with her words. Each word, each sentence is soothing. She creates a wonderfully atmospheric setting,
two interesting characters, and a whole lot of tension. There is plenty of humor and banter which adds to the enjoyment. The author excels in writing dialogue, perfectly drawing the reader into the conversations, feelings, and setting at the same time.
And the ending is swoon-worthy!
Snow Job is perfect when you're in the mood for sweet and fluffy. This Beth Bolden read is short, quick, and super delightful. Read it. You won't regret it.

Repressing his feelings for his stepbrother (currently ex-stepbrother) has caused Micah a lot more trouble than he ever imagined it was. Their parent’s scheme to get them to address the trouble in their relationship, by sending them to the same cabin to assess its value for the company they run. None of them could foresee the snowstorm trapping them together without electricity, food, or you know, blankets.
They anger and frustration between Micah and Jake is palpable from the first. I found some of the things they did to each other, petty revenge/practical jokes, were hilarious and I’m glad that the author included those bits of their story rather than only referencing them.
The passion between them, well, *fans self* it’s been simmering for a while. It was bound to be a bit explosive.
What I truly liked, was they went back to their lives and dealt with the aftermath of their passions before their story ended. Like my heart hurt so much for Micah once he got out of that cabin. He was happy, there were so many possibilities, and then there wasn’t. Jake, bless it, he pulled at my heartstrings too.

Four and a half stars
Micah Mattocks and Jake Lewis are ex-stepbrothers. And have had a sharply antagonistic relationship since just about the first time their parents introduced them to each other when they were teens. They say that strong emotions are closely tied to each other… and in this case, it’s certainly true that what Micah feels for Jake and what Jake feels for Micah isn’t really hate. Not even close…
Beth Bolden’s story is a page-turner. Snow Job is full of Micah and Jake’s prickly interactions, their (sometimes poorly) hidden longing, humor, and the undeniable heat. An entertaining story to be sure! And while it’s possible some will take issue with how Micah and Jake stumble their way forward, I personally found it ultimately joyful and hopeful to see that we can recover from a bad choice or even a string of seemingly painful decisions, and that those things don’t make us unlovable but just the opposite. Snow Job is another Beth Bolden winner!

Loved Micah and Jake! Ex-stepbrothers with long-brewing sexual tension covered up by animosity, practical jokes, and an arch rival kind of feeling. Micah has repressed his feelings for Jake for so long that it's pretty much all he knows at this point. And Jake - there is no doubt he's always been confused by Micah's behaviour towards him, but it definitely doesn't stop him from retaliating. The results are petty, but also hilarious! When they're snowed in together, there is a delicious push and pull between them, and it gets incredibly steamy the moment their mutual frustration boils over...
It also gets very emotional, with both Micah and Jake uncertain as to how the other really feels. Micah, especially, closes himself off first to protect himself when Jake inevitably leaves. I actually enjoyed their lack of communication though because it set up the perfect 'Jake is an absolute sweetheart' moment. My heart honestly died a little at the end, it was so sweet and so them.

This is a fun and sweet story with intriguing characters and a great storyline. Jake is a sweetheart and Micah is so busy fighting his feelings for his ex-stepbrother that he acts like a jerk for most of the story. They have a lot of history to deal with and a complicated family situation but they really are perfect for each other. Jake and Micah have a strong connection and smoking hot chemistry when they finally let themselves stop fighting and spend enough time together to really get to know each other. They have a chance for a great life if only they will get out of their own way. Their lack of communication is their biggest obstacle and they both will face some difficult decisions. Even though this didn't really feel like a Valentine's Inc. book as it was only mentioned once I still really enjoyed it and I look forward to reading more books by this author and in this series.

Totální drama-lama. Ale vzhledem k rozsahu a formátu nebylo zas tak marné. Popravdě řečeno tam byl silný a slušný příběhový oblouk.
Ovšem postavy byly poměrně nevyvážené - něco jiného o sobě říkali, něco jiného si o sobě mysleli (ať už každý sám o sobě nebo o sobě navzájem) a ještě jinak se chovali. To mě rušilo. Díky tomu hlavní postava (ten nerdy) o sobě smýšlela značně pozitivněji, než jak vycházely její činy - dle činů to byl zakomplexovaný, malicherný, sebestředný ustrašenec. Většinu knihy jsem se snažila pochopit, co na něm jeho ex-nevlastní bratr vlastně vidí.
Kapitolou samou pro sebe je ovšem celá ta směšně popsaná sněžná epopej. Jako člověk, který strávil v nevytopitelných horských chatách a ve sněhu včetně sněhových vánic, víc času, než by se mu líbilo, musím říct, že mě štvalo, jaké nesmysly autorka popisuje.

Definitely one of my highlights this year already (and it´s only January). I loved everything about that book!!! The characters are so very well presented; the "enemies to lovers" trope is approached perfectly (I loved the background stories how they tried to come back on each other in the past); and the setting in a snowed in cabin in the middle of a snow storm couldn´t be a better place for them.
But Beth Bolden doesn´t stop there but sends her protagonists back to the real world and let´s them deal with their real life problems as well - so insecurities that have been pushed down in their little bubble in the mountains, come back and threaten to tear the lovers apart. I loved this book so much and read it in one go! Highly recommended!

Snarky and spice a great combination. I love this series the authors compliment each other, Micah and Jakes parents were married for 18 months, in this time frame Micah had a crush on Jake who literally did one night stands so Micah pushed down his crush which turned snarky and hateful words were said. Now nine years later they are stuck in a cabin during a snow storm and trying to make the best of it. Both felt inadequate towards each other, Jake eventually broke Micahs barriers down, some sensual hot intimate scenes, humour and fun, Beth wrote a lovely story.

Together
Ooh, I love enemies to lovers and Micah and Jake are that and so much more. Micah is very prickly and at first I wasn’t sure about him but he grew on me the more I learned. I especially enjoyed his feistiness. Jake, on the other hand, I fell for immediately. He’s thoughtful, charming and I adore his personality but he also keeps a lot hidden. Together they shine.
“You couldn’t ever be just another guy...you’re the man I love.” Gah, the pining with these two. I loved it and wanted to smack them as they frustrated me and hurt my heart at times. But the steam with these two, so hot. I love them dearly and they brought me so much joy and happiness with their sarcasm, bickering and crazy love.

This was the story of ex-stepbrothers Micah and Jake, who have had a contentious relationship since they met in their teens. They found themselves snowed in together, and all the pent up feelings began to come out.
I have to say, I found Micah difficult to like at times. He wasn't good at dealing with his feelings, so he tended to lash out at Jake unnecessarily. When he was being open and honest, he was sweet and funny, and I could understand Jake's attraction to him. Meanwhile, I loved Jake, with his big smile and willingness to keep giving Micah another chance. I really wanted these two to work out their issues and find a way to make things work together.
This story is part of a fun series, and it comes from one of my favorite authors. I enjoyed it, and I'm sure others will, too.

This book was so lovely with the two ex stepbrothers who've both been secretly pining after the other for years and snarling at each other to keep it secret. Everyone think they hate each other, but when they find themselves stranded in a dilapidated cabin during a snow blizzard, their only choice is to interact and help each other out. "Clearing the air" will lead to so much more, but fear on both parts will make it so that their relationship doesn't start with smooth sailing...

Solid Sexy Romance. This book hits pretty well all the notes one expects in a MM romance - decent story, a fair amount of sex, etc - and even hits a couple of tropes that are more widely popular, such as second chance, (ex) step family, enemies to lovers, wild and adventuresome vs nerdy and ... "locally oriented". I believe this is my first from this author, and if this is indicative of her style it is a good one to have. I'll likely be checking out more from her based on this tale. Very much recommended.
